ehh, wtf, people. What's with this "OMG! BITCOIN CRASHED" whining? Right now it is $92.78/BTC1 on BTC-e. Bitcoin is still the most expensive currency in the world. Show me other currency that is worth at least $50/unit. Besides, Gold is dropping in value too. So what?
83  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL is Probably doing fine financially. on: April 10, 2013, 06:55:33 AM
ah yes, I remember that chip trolling. So at the end, BFL will buy avalon's chips and this is how the'll deliver their asics.
84  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL is Probably doing fine financially. on: April 10, 2013, 04:52:56 AM
Thank god BFL is doing well financially! I was worried these poor things are starving there Grin Grin Grin
85  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Get a job at BFL!! on: April 10, 2013, 02:28:36 AM
If this isn't trolling, then they admit they were defeated... This better be trolling for their own sake Grin
86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GX Mining scam? on: April 08, 2013, 07:24:54 AM
What do you mean a scan? It looks nothing like BFL. BFL has red LED, this one has GREEN.
See! Different! Grin Although 100g/hash in such small box... I don't believe it these days
87  Economy / Economics / Re: This shit must end -- why we need something like Bitcoin on: April 07, 2013, 06:21:12 AM
Japan?? Are you sure? I could swear, this is US...
88  Economy / Economics / Re: When or WILL the price come back down? on: April 07, 2013, 06:16:03 AM
Heck, many people pray bitcoin prices will come down so they can start buying more again Grin
Even if bitcoins prices in fiat falls (let's say amazingly it falls to $50 dollars) then tons of people will start buying it. I will be among them for sure. That will drive prices up again
89  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 06, 2013, 08:49:12 AM
I sure hope my avalon from batch 1 ships before batch 2 starts shipping!
exactly my point

heh, I need to find a pic I took in 2006 when they dumped HUGE HDTV (they were still rare back then) simply because at student lounge they installed projector. Someone did pick that thing up at night, in the dark Grin I, however, never performed dumpster diving (they don't smell very well to my liking)
91  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 06, 2013, 07:42:21 AM
hey, don't kill the messenger. They still shipping batch 1, as in they actively sending the packages. It wasn't like they sent them long time ago and they just got stuck at the customs. Why such delay? No idea, people believe they were mining with them. So based on that experience, I'm guessing that the batch 2 will be shipped very slowly as well. People will be grouchy, depressed but suddenly orgasmic when they finally get their avalon. So, majority may not even mean "most of it". I'm not bashing avalon, or not trying to spoil batch2 party, just thinking realistically.
92  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 06, 2013, 07:29:01 AM
Majority means most of the batch, but not all.  They have very limited amount of people, so they can only send so much
93  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Radeon 7990 `at' the wild on: April 06, 2013, 07:26:07 AM
Powercolor Devil 13 7990.
Link to Album with actual voltage measurements. http://imgur.com/a/kFqHC#2 The real voltage is 0.944 while afterburner shows 1.000

One question: Why?  Unless I'm missing something, this has no place in mining.  A year ago maybe, but not now.

Bragging rights?  Gaming?  Had $1000 (or equiv) sitting around burning a hole in your (virtual) pocket?  Think it's going to be a cold winter, needed an extra heat source?

I'm sure it looks nice.. would I want one?  No..

M
Litecoin mining, for example
94  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Poll: I just paid $1,249 for a BFL 25 GH/s Bitcoin Miner order! on: April 06, 2013, 07:24:27 AM
Oh come on, people. You sound like BFL is bad and scam or something. Grin
They are legitimate company, have they ever lied to us?  Wrong dates and incorrect power and broken chips and other stuff, is just simple miscalculation on their end and plain bad luck Grin
95  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: local (to me - Kansas City area) car dealer accepting bitcoin through bitpay on: April 06, 2013, 05:49:20 AM
wow, and it is dodge/jeep! What a coincidence Grin
I am looking for jeep wrangler... How do you know they accept bitcoins? Heck, I'll travel there across the country, just to buy a car with bitcoins.
Thanks, man

can these be used to mine litecoins?
97  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 05, 2013, 11:45:49 PM
Ok, fair enough. You know, people from batch 1 will hate you if you get yours faster than they Grin
98  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DIY PCB with AVAlON - [Documentation ready Mid April!!!!] on: April 05, 2013, 11:30:12 PM
so, one asic uses what, 240 chips? Is that correct?
You could build 41x60,000/hash asics with that. THat would be quite difficult to cool off. maybe people will do group buy? Like batch 3 Grin
Would you, guys, do group buy? DIY asics will be interesting IMHO
99  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 05, 2013, 11:18:23 PM
whoa, whoa people! I don't want to ruin your party here, but still not everyone got their avalons in batch 1. So it took them nearly 2 months to ship most of them. You hope batch 2 will be faster? Please state why (no trolling implied, honest)
100  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: If your University had a supercomputer on campus... on: April 05, 2013, 11:01:35 PM
1)  don't listen to the haters.  Get bitcoind on that fat bitch ASAP

2)  University student in trouble for tinkering with the supercomputer at the university he paid for?  no way.  Slap on the wrist at worst.  in 1998 (lulz I'm old now) when in college and no1 knew about the free 10 mb of webspace each student had for free (lulz again) I collected all my friends' webspace and made a direct-download .mp3 sharing site.  Boy did I make that netradio banner monies!  Was called in eventually for my "kid shit" crime, they asked me what I was doing and I was like "sharing music with my friends obv" some lolertastic investigation was held, nothing came of it.  I think I signed something saying I would not use University machines for cybercrime (i am pretty sure it said something like cyber-squatting actually.  really wish I would have saved the form)

3)  pool minded for 20 hrs should yield you ~ $1k USD or so. Gotta try it IMO
Wow. I was really hoping that outside of the BFL hate, you might be a decent guy. Apparently I was wrong.

Believe me, there is lots of misuse is going on
So because everyone else is misusing the university's scientific research facilities, means it's Ok for you to do it too? But hey, you're profiting from it, so it's OK, right?!
I am network admin. I am the one who kills this kind of activities. I am the party pooper. My point is that there is no punishment for that. Heck, even faculty misuses equipment. Worst thing I'd just disable abusing account.  In reality United States is wasteful society. Hell, in 2004 I've been told to dumb 4 BRAND NEW WRAPPED IN PLASTIC HP network switches because they weren't up to specs and they were suppose to be cisco. Each switch was like $2500. Could I take them home? Nope, now THAT IS A THEFT. So I just dumped them. I've seen lots of amazing stuff in universities dumpsters. Some stuff was new or in a good working condition. In 2003 university bought mega expensive sun server.  Very top of the line. OMG! WE'LL SO USE IT!  In reality it was never used and collects the dust up to this day.  So Borrowing resources isn't a theft.
I'm not saying it is good, I'm just say it is what it is. Private companies might be in different situation, there I can see they might be sensitive about it.
