I agree, it has to be a ponzi. Still I tried out the free game, min payout is now 0.00025. I just withdrew that amount and got it instantly.

The ads don't even look like ads, just links to sites with no referrer. Even if they were paying ads, the payout is too high to be making any money.

I suppose the fun element of this game is how how high do you dare to go before withdrawing? Will you get nothing if you wait for .001 and save your wallet filling with dust?

Your site unprofitable to run!how came that your services unprofitable to run? we need to know the reason so any one

 else will run such services come up with details,and he can avoid this on own service.

I think if they knew that, they would not be closing!

Bitcoin faucets are the first way for many people to get their first bitcoins and learn about the transactions system etc..

That was the case for me. Started with interest in OpenBazaar then in testing there was a test coin faucet, so I found all the rest. First bitcoin transaction was a revelation, no going back after that, stupid banker currencies must die!
84  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Vote the FaucetBox Alternatives on: November 07, 2016, 03:34:42 PM

How can one vote for something which does not exist yet?

Same way people vote for a new candidate in an election.
85  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Vote the FaucetBox Alternatives on: November 07, 2016, 03:33:35 PM
Hi I voted for Mex's (not yet ready) solution because
1. Everything else he has done so far has been reliable, user-friendly and clear.
2. none of the existing alternatives to FaucetBox is ideal.

A lot of faucets have payout thresholds, I hope this is taken into account in Mex's solution!

Fingers crossed,
Andy

It's not looking promising. What's going on with Paytoshi?

thanks for all the advice, learning a lot here, appreciate that you take the time.

Well now you're a double spender.  What did you do?!

Yep. Embarrassing! And preserved forever in the blockchain. The first one disappeared completely from my wallet, with no debit, so I assumed it had been dropped. I tried to make the same purchase again, but with a higher fee. This one has now got 50 confirmations, so am I right in guessing that it's impossible for the first one to get any confirmations now, and eventually it will disappear?

Thanks
Andy

You will never lose any BTC if the transaction is unconfirmed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm using Electrum which seems to be quite sensibly designed. I don't know where all those myths all over the web come from.

Cheers
Andy
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Messed up micropayment, need a merciful miner on: October 25, 2016, 12:18:15 PM

As stated above, they could remain in nodes mempool for several days, but even this is dependent on the settings of nodes.

Thanks cr1776 for clearing that up. There's an amazing amount of crap from a search for info, all kinds of convoluted things to do if your fee is too low.
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Messed up micropayment, need a merciful miner on: October 25, 2016, 01:44:30 AM
It's ok, I was under the impression from all I had read here and elsewhere, that the transaction would never complete and I would lose the BTC but it seems to have disappeared from my wallet and not been deducted from my balance.

That's different from everything I read. Have things changed recently so that transactions that don't get included are cancelled or something?
Cheers.
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Messed up micropayment, need a merciful miner on: October 24, 2016, 08:43:23 PM
Hi I messed up this transaction, https://blockchain.info/tx/cea44bf24cf2b0dae9eb7e2070c0f1205ff1d40a2ed5f86fb1e8985ff0019635

I put in too many zeros on the fee. Won't happen again, would some merciful miner take it up? I'll drink a few pints in your honor.

No worries if not, it's only 6 dollars.

All the best,
Andy

Thank you @Kazuldur for all your help. I've transferred to a new host now, and the api is working immediately, no problems.

All the best

As I thought, your hosting has cURL support, but it has misconfigured, missing or old CA file, so cURL works only for HTTP. You should contact your hosting and tell them that curl_exec fails when connecting to https://faucetbox.com and curl_error() returns "error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /etc/pki/ls/certs/ca-bundle.crt CApath: none".

I thought, that's it now, sorted, but he says the error setting certificate verify locations is because:
Quote
"This is an error but don't get why because why its searching /etc/pki/ls/ there is no folder its /etc/pki/tls/ it's missing a t in the location, and this $error is found through cURL which has path to

    $ch = curl_init("https://faucetbox.com/faucetinabox/api/v1/version-check");

so the issue must be in their version-check, if it searching wrong directory,

I think a solution is close, one way or the other!
Guessing wildly in the dark again here, I set $verify_peer = true to false, being quite close to what you said about 'local_cafile' => true - I didn't want to try and write a whole new [statement? don't even know what they are called!] - anyway, that worked so it shows you're right about the other stuff. Setting it back to true again now cos I know it's abandoning verification altogether.
Thanks for all this, I appreciate your patience,
Andy

Upload this to your server and send me a link to it:
test.php

I completely disconnected cloudflare, and changed back the IP addresses a couple of days ago. Thanks, I uploaded the file to the same directory, so

It uses cURL by default, if you have 'disable_curl' => false, in your config.php file. It only fall backs to fopen if cURL fails.

Hi, I got a detailed response from level 3 support (wonder how many levels there are) which I hope will make more sense to you than to me:

Quote
Hello,
...

What you sent us is just the class sheet, not what is actually fired first, he says cURL so that would be this functions

public function __execCURL($method, $params = array()) {
    $params = array_merge($params, array("api_key" => $this->api_key, "currency" => $this->currency));

    $ch = curl_init($this->api_base . $method);
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true);
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $params);
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, $this->verify_peer);
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);

    $response = curl_exec($ch);
    if(!$response) {
        $response = $this->__execPHP($method, $params);
    }
    curl_close($ch);

    return $response;
}
I can confirm this would work, but the other one "fopen fclose" it will not. cURL should work, if it fails it would give you a point of failure, see $response variable, it would give you a response, if we check your error_log in your public_html it yields this

[05-Oct-2016 19:46:08 UTC] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'https' (T_STRING), expecting function (T_FUNCTION) in /home/friendsv/public_html/wp-content/plugins/99bitcoins-btc-faucet/libraries/faucetbox.php on line 16

It does show this because when you disabled cURL it returned the fopen is blocked message, but with cURL enabled it doesn't udnerstand the https t_string, ask them about this I can't see anything on line 16 that is abnormal myself. I would assume this would be why the cURL is not working.

Is this any use? They are insisting cURL is working fine.
I'm using the solvemedia api and that's working ok,
  and I installed the faucetinabox as a test, outside of WP and that didn't work.

Thanks
Andy
97  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where to buy without stupid "security" "features" ! on: October 10, 2016, 11:44:45 AM
The simple question is why do you need such service when you have a legitimate credit cards with you? security features are in place to protect your money and my money  Lips sealed Lips sealed

:-x but Actually a good question, Answer is in my sig! I need to use it to check out various interfaces and services. Out here in the wet western margins of N Europe they still swap turf for eggs so it's not easy to find a local source. I did though, eventually.
98  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where to buy without stupid "security" "features" ! on: October 10, 2016, 11:34:02 AM
Thanks for all the useful replies, advice and links. I found someone local to buy from, which is what some suggest is the best way. I guess this mess will continue for a while, until more people become familiar with cryptocurrencies and they start to replace the old money. Till we can leave that behind we'll just have to put up with it, like a dying dinosaur thrashing around and damaging everything before it eventually falls over and dies.

It uses cURL by default, if you have 'disable_curl' => false, in your config.php file. It only fall backs to fopen if cURL fails.

Thanks for your support on this. Do you know of an uncomplicated way I can test cURL on shared hosting, like "hello world" for cURL? Just to make sure? I've written to the host again.
100  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: October 09, 2016, 07:15:43 PM
Your hosting disabled external HTTP(S) connections. Contact your hosting (you can send them the first line of logs you've quoted to make it clear for them what are you asking).

Hi, host says it should be using curl, but the script says
 $fp = fopen($this->api_base . $method, 'rb', null, $ctx);

Can I just change it to curl or will that screw everything up?
Thanks
Andy
