Can I mine bitcoins on a laptop? If not, can I mine with any USB miner or ASIC Miner?
Use your laptop for running your USB miner 24/7 But if the ASIC Miner dont need host computer, use your laptop for something else, like offline armory wallet (If you dont need the laptop anymore) |

Nobody expected such an increase in a short period of time. What are your thoughts, will Bitcoin reach $1500 before 2014? Wouldn't that be something worth celebrating for New Year's Eve? 4) My hashrate was about 45 kh/s at first and by adjusting the thread concurrency I brought it up to 290-350 kh/s. I am very much confused still by some of the parameters in cgminer.
My current string is:
cgminer --auto-fan --auto-gpu -o stratum+tcp://coinotron.com:3334 -u radix.1 -p pass --scrypt -I 18 -g 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192 --shaders 1600
I have no clue what thread concurrency means or shaders (total newb, I know) but I found that using 8192 for TC I have 0 hardware errors where with my old value of about 6000 I was hitting 300-1000 hardware errors (HW:) in cgminer within a 24 hour period.
Ideally I would like to tweak this and also add in a parameter to control the temperature from going over XX degrees. I know this is possible.
The -I 18 looks like aggressivity setting, it has highest impact on hashrate. Try increase it, if HW errors doesnt rise (or lower it for HW errors to fall). I have 20 |

I think you can withdraw the faucet free funds if you don't want to bet.
The thing is that the min threshold is 0.01 and the faucets gives 0.001 a day. I think it qualifies as a free faucet, what do you think?

Okay I will check it out. If one has a reasonable chance to make that minimum withdrawal limit without betting than that would qualify as free. Thanks 0.001 is a lot in faucet world. Why the requirement to bet it disqualify it from list? It is still 0.001 a day and bet it or solve puzzle, what is the difference? |

About the PPC - proof of stake concept is not secure as much as proof of work. So Bitcoin does not have any issues, in fact given huge hash rate it is only really secure coin

When I talk about Bitcoins to others I using torrent analogy. It is peer to peer as well but instead of sharing files you share transactions. The point is with peer to peer, it can not be closed down, thus very reliable monetary service in the long run
