Hi guys,

Another place where Gridcoin can already be traded is here:
cryptotc.us

Rob, can you please add it to the first post?

Andrew.

Thanks Andrew for all your contributions.
Will do.

Thanks for all your hard work! Wink
From what I see at C-Cex, it's starting to pay off Smiley
Personally I'll follow your lead and won't sell much until we hit Top 10 at coinmarketcap.com Wink

Hi all!

@ ROB
I've had a long at the # of CPU miners today and compared it with BOINC stats. Even though we have ~700 CPU miners, there are only 314 hosts doing work for team Gridcoin, I guess it will be similar with GPU miners.
So basically the stats available at BOINC stats do show approximately 1/2 of the work we as a community really do, that's not good.

I would suggest adding a feature that would be checking if a miner is in team Gridcoin and actually enforce it.
I think it is important to keep track of the work that we're doing for BOINC.

What do you think?

Andrew.
Yes, I'm all for a bigger team but also all for freedom; so if we can detect that a user is not in the pool and suggest they add themselves to the team that would be cool.

I have a project that Im working that sends all the boinc CPID's to the network, and I believe we can query the user team by CPID.

I think baby step #1 (for me to do), will be listing the GRC address, CPID, and Team in the Pool Leaderboard.  Then we can at least see users who aren't in the team from the web UI.  Ill add that to my list.

Grid

Hi Rob,

You're right, forcing people to do anything wouldn't probably be good.
@baby step #1 - this would be very cool..I guess it would then be very easy to add up all the credits even for non-team members and let's say show a sum at block explorer.

Please consider adding Gridcoin.
It's the first currency that aims to help humanity by doing computations for BOINC.
We've already made it to be in the TOP 100 in The World by average credits and we're aiming for # 1!

We need to get coindesk to do an article on gridcoin. Anyone know how to do this?

Also, are we ready for this? I'm all for helping this coin get all the attention it deserves, but if the software isn't ready yet, we should be patient.

Maybe this might help! Wink

Great Job Everyone!

It's normal that the senders address is shown as unknown.
I have seen that many times when sending GRC between my own machines.

Andrew.

Oh ok I didn't know that part .. thanks Andrew !! Big help as always Cheesy

Glad to help. Smiley

Hmmm so the 5 GRC seems to have come from cpu mining it seems as it shows default below the transaction ... however I can not find the address in "listcpuminers"..... wonder whats happened there  Huh

And to add the beacons were not sent !!

UPDATE : Beacon got sent just now ... so still confused how 5 GRC appeared from ""unknown"" before beacons or without a ""from"" address.

We're listed. The dev added link to https://c-cex.com/index.html?p=grc-btc
Also I asked if he could include the calculation function and sent him a link to the Ccex API.

Will keep you posted.

Nice chart. I think a lot of new cpu miners have joined too, last time i checked it was ~ 800. Once scrypt sleep is turned on you will see a big spike in credits from the GPU miners too.

New credit record today! We're almost in the TOP 100 in average credits in the world!
Great job everyone!

Andrew.

Yep, it's 803 at the moment..I hope we can get everyone signed up for team Gridcoin in the future so we know about the real number of credits. If everyone was signed up now, our credits would easily be double or triple of what BOINC stats show.

You're right about the spike - I'm certain we will jump to TOP 50 within 1-2 weeks of scrypt-sleep running.

Chrome does not allow me to download the wallet for Gridcoin or any of the files on their website.

http://www.gridcoin.us/

Can some one share a download link that isn't completely blocked by Google?

Hi,

If you'll go to the chrome downloads page, you can click on the file and after confirming it'll let restart the download.

So I am not mining right now (because of PSU being burnt  Cry ) . But if most of you can confirm that the momentary sync problem was over then we can all start clamouring for Gridcoin to be included on coincapmarket. I have already done that here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199685.msg5051070#msg5051070.

So I would ask all members of the community to go there and post similar messages or just quote the above message and "+1" it if your lazy Tongue.

PS : Expect a (big) hike in networkrate and prices soon Cheesy

Hi!

Good job! I added my post! Smiley

Guys, check this out! We are really close to breaking our own daily record in credits! Smiley

97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: February 10, 2014, 11:31:29 AM
Hey Gliss,

You should add Gridcoin to your site.

Why ? It is the only coin that serves a utility value and also serves humanity at the same time.

How ? It helps humanity by rewarding for doing scientific computations that help in various fields like - astronomy, physics, biology, disease simulations, mathematics ... the list just goes on. These calculations are done using the BOINC software (which backed by berkely) and miners are accorded coins based on their contribution to such projects. Whats even more is you can CPU mine as well !!

SO THIS IS THE ONLY USEFUL COIN THAT DOES NOT BLOW HOT AIR LIKE OTHER COINS DO  Grin

Site : http://www.gridcoin.us/

Announcement threads : https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1331-new-coin-launch-announcement-grc-gridcoin/ and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=324118.0

Explorer with total coin supply : http://explorer.gridcoin.us/

Exchange : https://c-cex.com/index.html?p=grc-btc

This one is for the long run. I expect prices($10-15 hopefully for a min . even though its incredibly cheap right now) to go to the moon ... oh no wait , we already do research with BOINC about astronomy so this one will go to the outer edges of the visible universe for sure !!

Hi Everyone!

I have to absolutely agree with what heretolearn wrote and just want to add that apart from the part where we all help humanity, - the work we have done is growing greatly..we are already 140th out of 100 000 teams in average credits in THE WORLD!! http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/team/detail/118094994/overview  - the developer(Rob) has been doing an absolutely amazing job from the very beginning, he has spent tens of thousands of dollars and much more in his time to really make this coin a revolution, he is introducing and implementing features that no other coin has..like the scrypt-sleep function that saves even more energy from hashing and directs it to doing more work for humanity(BOINC) which is about to be enabled in a couple days.

From what Rob has presented on the forums, this is just a beginning..the features to come will be amazing. I personally can't wait for the fund, that Rob mentioned, where we will have the ability to donate for good causes.

We are aiming for #1 in the world in BOINC..and that is just a matter of time!
Get on board with us, help humanity, change the world and make yourself some money in the process!

My boinc stats also decreased quite much at first but now my points are climbing up very oddly Smiley

BOINC average credits or total utilization?
What CPU do you have?

Andrew.

avg credits. 4-core athlon x4 640. Using 2 cores to boinc if all 4 cores (or 3) are boincing then my hashrate decreases.

I'm not sure if that happened due to scrypt sleep feature. Sometimes, some returned BOINC tasks that you received credits for get rejected later by the project system and the credits are substracted.
That happens to me quite regularly..BOINC just does that.

Andrew.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: February 09, 2014, 02:07:50 PM
Are we sure the scrypt-sleep function is working properly...? My BOINC Daily Credits seems to actually be decreasing (I've gone from 1373 down to 1360 credits since block 62000)... If my gpu is spending time sleeping it should be working on BOINC projects and INCREASING my daily credits, shouldn't it...?

It's working fine on my rigs. How many GPU tasks have you done since then + what projects?
Sometimes there can be a delay of x hours or even a couple days before the BOINC project grants claimed credit for returned tasks. So I would wait a couple days to see.
Also if you go to the projects homepage you can check for your returned tasks that are waiting to receive credit.

Hope this helps,
Andrew.

Hi, thanks for the info! How can I check my completed GPU tasks...? I've been using BOINC for a year or two now and never learned how to do that, lol...

If you go to your account for a project and look for tasks, there is an info at the right - if it is/was GPU task, there should be either CUDA or ATI at the end.

Which Boinc projects are you running?
Quote
I am signed up to pretty much every project except for "DistrRTgen", "GPUGrid.net" and the two that require purchasing sensors in order to participate. I've thought about dropping some projects but I have been running these ones for about a couple of years now...

Can someone tell me exactly which projects have GPU tasks or tell me how I can figure out which ones have them myself...?

Here is a list of BOINC projects that shows which work with GPUs.
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php
