i have Enabled Alexis78 for all supported Algos.... im not sure where your quoting "recommended to be used with 3+ GPUs?" from ? ? ?

From the first post of this thread Smiley

https://github.com/nemosminer/NemosMiner-v1.7.6-Zpool/releases/download/NemosMinerv1.7.6/NemosMiner-v1.7.6-ZPOOL.zip
uses Alexis78ccminer fastest for most algo's for Pascal Cards but doesn't play nice with 6cards..  best for  (1-3 card rigs)

That confused me.
How come Alexis when used with 1.7.6 does not play nice with 6 cards and 2.0.8 with Alexis does play nice?
I am just trying to understand the theory behind all these algo shenanigans.

82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: July 23, 2017, 06:02:19 PM

I'm cool with 5 mins per day dedicated to you-and your miner. I've kept it intact since I dowloaded the miner on 25 June.

However, if you put this as a note on first page or somewhere it'll just make people "feel" that you are not hiding anything.

Plus emphasis that its not 5% of total mining time but 5 minutes per day.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: July 23, 2017, 06:27:41 AM
Lbry should be disabled i'll do it in next update.. you can do it manually by removing lbry from -Algorithm eg. -Algorithm jha,tribus,c11,x11evo,veltor,skein,equihash,groestl,timetravel,sib,bitcore,hmq1725,x17,blakecoin,Nist5,MyriadGroestl,Lyra2RE2,neoscrypt,blake2s

Whats wrong with Lbry?
Also, why is Nemos recommended to be used with 3+ GPUs?
What to use on desktop with 2 GPUs?
There are two contradictory statements on front page:

Quote
uses Alexis78ccminer fastest for most algo's for Pascal Cards but doesn't play nice with 6cards..  best for  (1-3 card rigs)

Quote
Enabled: ccminerAlexis78 for all supported algos

Please clarify.

i opened the start.bat file
there was -donate 5 at the end i think is kind of scam because i dont want to donate

Thats 5 minutes per day.
If you find that too much you are a cheap bastard.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: July 22, 2017, 08:07:45 AM
The "-interval" question is a tricky one.
It depends on your hashrate AND the current coin prices.
If you are doing switching on a single GPU, then there is a definitive answer, you need to increase the interval to at least 300.
The market fluctuations are the tricky part. When the coin prices are stable, the higher interval may be beneficial since you will be switching less and hashing more.
Currently there is much volatility in coin prices, so lower interval may be more beneficial, as it will "catch" sudden spikes in coins but at a price of lower hash due to more switches.
See here for the latest findings by Storx
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=676942.msg20294631#msg20294631

So, no definitive answer regarding intervals, since the volatility is the name of the game, IMHO.

Regarding the post above claiming that 8GB of RAM is needed for 5+ rigs.
I have three such rigs all running without problems with 4GB.

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: July 20, 2017, 06:26:55 AM

Ya, i have a lot of dgb from the week i mined on yiimp, but unfortunately its not even remotely worth cashing it out, i have been watching my friend do some small trades lately on poloniex and such... he seems to be making small returns on most days on his small profit sell orders he typically buys and sets auto sell orders for 0.5% to 1.0% of what he bought it for... seems to be working out for him, he is just playing with small money orders like less than $50 worth at a time.. because he is still to scared to put more skin in yet...

Thanks for the zpool algos hint. But what about switching interval? Is it worth to raise it from default 90?
Also, did you recover from lightning damage?
Router surge protectors are dime a dozen at ebay, maybe it would be wise to invest in them?
Regarding your Digibyte stash, why not place auto sell order at 50% of its ATH from June?
Or even 100% if you feel bullish Smiley
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpu bubble well and truly bursting on: July 19, 2017, 05:19:09 PM

That rig will easily give you 168 MH/s on ETH

For how many days you have the 168 MH/s on ETH and by when you have 100 MH/s left? In few weeks? Smiley

Spoken like a true clueless Nvidia fan boy that's bad at math! You don't understand the epoch problem. I think you need to watch this video to understand what is going on with the RX 4XX/5XX epcoh hash drop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQE9WdhupAg

Bottom line is the ETH epoch will be in the 160's by the end of the year and probably less if the block times keep increasing. By then if nothing is done to resolve the issue, the Claymore benchmarks show about a 25% hash drop by epoch 160, which in my own tests, I found the Claymore benchmarks to be overstating the actual hash drop from epoch changes.

The bigger and more relevant issue is at the latest ETH dev meeting last Friday, it was stated they have no plans to address the the increase in block times and difficulty due to the ongoing programmed ICE AGE before the Metropolis POW/POS hybrid release due by November this year. This means at the current price, ETH will no longer be profitable to mine for most people by the end of August once the difficulty retargets as programmed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRQg_lHEKl4&t=2520s

The ICE AGE affects ALL ETH miners, ESPECIALLY Nvidia ETH miners, since they are ALREADY much less efficient at mining ETH compared to the AMD cards that cost less than half. I get watching smart people that didn't over pay for their GPU's making more money than those that spent the same amount and are making less must suck!

You must be a Ethereum fanboy if you believe anything Vitalik and his cohorts publicly say.
How about this newsflash
https://themerkle.com/ethereum-developers-contemplate-delaying-difficulty-bomb-by-another-1-4-years/
They obviously are a confused bunch, contradicting themselves.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this a bad time to invest in AMD GPUs for mining altcoins? on: July 19, 2017, 05:13:47 PM
Just a heads up for those concerned
https://themerkle.com/ethereum-developers-contemplate-delaying-difficulty-bomb-by-another-1-4-years/
POW was a marketing gimmick all along, they are slowly preparing the grounds for admitting it will not happen at all.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's THE coin to mine and HODL? on: July 19, 2017, 05:03:09 PM
Top of my list is decred for long term hold.  Also picking up a stash of zencash, zcoin and siacoin currently.  All projects with a good team of devs and organized well.

I try to pick up 1000 or so coins in each for ones that already have value over $1 and then move on to the next one.  Best to spread out to as many good projects as you can find.  Earlier the better as well since you can amass significantly more coins then.

Now is the perfect time for a miner to mine himself a nice shitcoin portfolio.
Mine half a dozen decent low difficulty coins and put them on exchange with sell order set at ATH.
And pray that altcoin craze will continue in September Smiley
Of course, you could go for "mine the most profitable coin and exchange it into other coin" route, but the problem is that that most profitable coin you are mining is also the most difficult to mine.
Now, if anybody has any other idea what the most optimal route is, I am all ears.
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: July 19, 2017, 04:37:11 PM
I finally made the switch from 1.7 to 2.0, lazy ass me Smiley
So far so good.
Thank you developer.
Just one question: why is 2.0.7 recommended for 3+card rigs?
And one suggestion: when noobs see "-donation 5" parameter they may think that its 5%, not 5 minutes.
So maybe that should be explained in readme more transparently.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: July 17, 2017, 03:26:27 AM
Which of these algos actually profit from memory speed? Wouldn't reducing mem speed gimp those too much?

I think in most of my single algo bats I have mem set to -1000.

I put it in the + for Nemo because I can't change it for each algo. I'd like to change power too, instead i have to run 1 for all.

Thanks for the -1000 tip for ccminer  algos. Will check how it affects core clock in TDP-limited scenario.
The "problem" is that equihash algo coins tend to be very profitable on Zpool and they like high memory OC.
So the question for all you command-line gurus is how to implement dynamic changing of clocks based on which algorithm is used.

@Storx
did you manage to revive your rigs? Was it lightning or something else that caused the damage?
I finally put my rigs on surge protector because of your horror story, so something good came out of it after all.
The only problem is that it does not have protection for LAN cable, so they are not completely lightning-proof.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: July 16, 2017, 12:49:12 PM

I also added the following code to the beginning of the start.bat file

Code:

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

I thought that these variables are only needed when using ethash miners.
Are you seeing any difference when using them with ccminer/ewbf?
Impressive mastery of NvidiaInspector, BTW.
How come you use it instead of AB?
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: July 15, 2017, 02:52:12 PM

I do the same on two of my three rigs. Buy a cheap old HP desktop with 4 /slots.

1) some fancy motherboard that has 6 slots for cards - running 6 rx 480
2) HP z400 off newegg with windows 10 for $180 . Running 4 rx 570
3) HP z400 off eBay for $80 , windows license from softwareswap for $20. Running 4x rx 470s

How bout this blast from the Litecoin mining days ?

A true steampunk masterpiece of engineering:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/P35_Platinum.html#hero-specification
bought for 20$, running 4 1060s

Old time favorite from ten years ago:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-EP45-UD3R-rev-11#ov
bought for 20$, running 4 1060s

They even did not need pin shorting Smiley
Working like a charm.

Third rig is running on my former Sandy Bridge desktop MB
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z77AGD65.html#hero-specification
I just cant seem to get 7th card working, I get stuck in BIOS initializing CPU
Any help welcome!

Also, for really cheap mining solution, a truly plug-and-mine MB for up to 5 gpus:

My guess is that we will get SegWit, and then the fork to get 2x blocks will NOT happen.

https://themerkle.com/segwit2x-miners-accidentally-fork-bitcoin-testnet/

Core devs have said that Segwit2X is not ready for deployment yet. This is what happens when nobody listens.
No need to rush, Segwit in 2018, Lightning in 2020.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: July 13, 2017, 08:14:44 AM

Selling?   Im selling hardware and BTCright now because I have medical and other expenses that are drowning me..... that's the prime reason.

I have been heavily investing in alts;  but not in the usual way this last month.

My trading account has fluctuated in the last 2 weeks by as much as 33% mainly on the larger more traded coins;  but;  it always bounces right back up to where it was when all this mess started.... which is just around the highest its ever been.    My experiments most recently with buying "offline" coins on yobit for the shakeup has definitely be successful.  They seem to be BTC resistant and more resistant to market flux.  In all reality, its more profitable because people are apt to dump theirs at bottom satoshi when they feel the need to move funds around.   NKA on yobit being a prime example.   0.00000003-0.00000006 trading for weeks in that coin.  Superb profit.  Granted; a lot of them are still @1, but that's not a loss;  and almost all that I buy so cheap, have an active buying market, so I technically only risk a touch above 0.004% loss (on yobit via tx/order fee) if I have to sell back at bottom satoshi Wink

For all the BTC I am still holding when the fork comes about;  all of it will be on my ledger, aside from what I keep on the exchange tied up in buy/sell orders.  I want ot be prepared for the market to swing in either direction.      The market is the risk originally;  so I understand my reasoning and actions.

My hardware;   I am just cleaning out the Maxwell gear and making room for Pascal cards.  I typically host cards for people I personally know at a % split.  Eventually, Ill end up buying the card(s) from them and they have been more than happy with the profits in the end... and Ill run them until I need room, and then craigslist them.

I consider myself to not be poor, contrary to what people around me think.   I don't have a bankroll, and I honestly barely get on day by day sometimes.    Tis the life I was given, and I make the best of it.   No matter how the market goes;  Ill still be in it.  No matter how the mining scene goes, Ill still be in it.

I just stay focused on both sides of the line... past present and future tenses.

Spoken like a True Miner.
Hope your health issues resolve soon.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: July 12, 2017, 06:21:00 PM
When I said selling, I meant still mining on nicehash/zpool.
Digibyte or LBRY or... now that is the question.... who will be the first to rise from the ashes come fall?
I have no doubt about ZEC/ETH recovering, but they are difficult to mine.
What to mine, the perennial question Smiley
Only for those that started a mere six months ago, you silly ass.

97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: July 12, 2017, 05:54:00 PM

what coins are the most profitable at this time?

Thats the wrong question.
You should ask yourself "What coin that is at low diff ATM will be more profitable for me to sell when the slump ends?"
Now is the perfect opportunity to buy or mine and build yourself a nice portfolio by September when the investors will start pouring money into crypto again.
So, Jared and Philip, how come your are still selling instead of holding?
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: July 12, 2017, 04:48:23 PM
Whats the rationale behind believing that hardware companies invested money in crypto?
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: July 10, 2017, 05:56:17 AM
@Storx: did you get any more granularity on the intervals? Seems strange you were getting best results with 3000 (that's 50 minutes without switching)...

Im sorry bud the test was spoiled by thunderstorm a few days ago, my parents house which has 2 rigs, 2 racks of 4x1080ti's per are down.. still troubleshooting the issue.. seems the motherboard is fried.. really hope that the 8 GPU's are ok...

currently im mining at 10minute intervals, because it seemed switching to often was causing a lost in profit due to switching in the middle of processing data, but going to long was pushing out off the clif of income.....

That's a damn shame, talk about luck. I hope your 1080 ti's are okay!

My condolences also.
Did you use surge protector on your rigs?
I am still unsure if surge protectors are worth it when it comes to thunder hitting nearby electrical grid.
Theoretically, decent PSUs have surge protection, so maybe its just your PSU that is dead?
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: July 08, 2017, 02:54:06 AM
pay has been drastically lower the last week...

Welcome to the club. IMHO, not a zpool issue, but due to the overall coin prices last few weeks.
Even ETH diff started falling.... along with its price.
Investors/speculators went sailing on their yachts instead of putting more money in shitcoins.
Guess the new round of crypto-maddness wont start before September?
