It's terrifying at just how much we are at the mercy of the dead who leave behind tools, language, cultural practices over which we have no control. In a spooky kind of way innovators are like dictators forcing the future generations in to a world over which they have no choice.

As well as looking back on our ancestors and the legacy they have left us with we should focus on the future and to the kind of world we do want to leave behind for the people who have not yet been born. Instead of denying to ourselves that our grizzly death could come at any moment we should remember our mortality and ask "what is the most important thing I could be doing right now to help build the legacy the future deserves?"

Now to find our way out of hell we must move in to this week's news...

The Creepy Bitcoin Conference Amsterdam
Come on, work with me here  Smiley - We are happy to announce that we will be attending the Bitcoin Conference in Amsterdam. I am scheduled to give a talk on Wednesday the 6th Nov, which is the first day. Arrangements are being made to have the talk recorded and anyone in the Feathercoin team is welcome to approach me with suggestions of what themes they would like me to cover in the talk.

Nightmare on Sheep Street
One of the topics that will undoubtably come up is the impact the dusty old banking system with all its cobwebs is having on small businesses. Last Friday @Ruthie, @Bushstar and I visited Sheep Street in the small town of Bicester (pronounced Bister) in the UK to talk to merchants about their businesses and to learn more about any horrific challenges they are facing from the blood thirsty banks.

Ed told us that 60% of his customers do not carry cash and he is losing business - link to tweet

The real horror story here is the digitisation of money and the control of wealth. Money has been slowly being digitised now for the last few decades. One of the side effects of this digitisation is the control it gives to the person or people who have root access to that central ledger.

One merchant in Bicester told us on Friday that his bank wanted 10-15% of his sales before they would consider giving him full banking services with payment processing. This means he sees customers turning away from his stall and going to the big retail chains which in turn leads to a lack of competition in the marketplace.

This is completely unnecessary since the creation of the Blockchain by Satoshi Nakamoto 4 years ago. The Blockchain could be the biggest innovation in Accounting since the Double-entry bookkeeping system first introduced by Luca Pacioli during the Italian Renaissance. But the underlying assumption all those centuries ago was that only one person could control the ledger at a time. And that kind of centralisation offers an incentive to whomever has control to do evil deeds.

Honesty must pay more than fraud.

The Blockchain on the other hand assumes that many people can all speak at the same time and control the ledger while maintaining consensus and accuracy in a trustless environment. The task now is to listen to the needs of regular people like Ed and work hard to make this technology relevant to his life and integrate it in to his business at marginal cost to help him stay competitive.

Drunk are the Dahmed
From the small English markets stalls to the wineries of Germany. Many treats must be given to @ChekaZ who helped Dahms Winery adopt both Feathercoin and Bitcoin. Here is a link to their shop, checkout the confectionary!

Dahms winery is a 3rd generation family business located in Schweinfurt in the hearth of Franconia, Germany.
Jürgen Dahms left, Alexander Dahms right.

Bringing the past to the future and weaving a present moment. This is exactly the kind of initiative we have come to expect from the Feathercoin community. Responding to uniqueness of the situation by showing a can-do attitude is what it is all about to help small business find their way out of this hellish economy.

Halloween Bounty Blood Bath
To help celebrate Halloween we ran a Bounty to see who could come up with the best logo and artwork. This turned in to one of the best threads we have had since our beginnings so a big thank-you to all those who took part, everyone was rewarded with 10 Feathercoins.

With entries like this from Svenn picking a winner and finding consensus was a devilish task to overcome

Congratulations to the wicked:
@iawgoM for the winning logo
@Entimp for the artwork used as the background on Facebook and Twitter
@FrankoIsFreedom
@svennand
@pr9me
@lizhi

TL;DR - Belong to where you are
We are born in to a world full of tools, language, rules and meaning. The only thing we can do with history is listen to it, understand it and respond in a way unique and appropriate to our age. Being reminded of the dead reminds us of our own mortality and urgency with which we must act.

We should stop relying on being in the right place at the right time and just belong to where we are. Bringing the past in to the future means creating opportunities where apparently none existed before. Don't look for a door to find a way out, make your own door.

Believing in someone and removing all barriers to their success is one of the most powerful ways to help them out of their nightmare. You do not need a reason to help someone so who will you help today?

Happy Halloween from the Feathercoin Team - whoever spots the most the ghoulish Halloween references in this week's news will sure be in for a digital treat.

You can find last week's newsletter here: How will you measure your success?. Today special thanks go to @ChekaZ, @Svennand and @Ruthie for their contributions to this newsletter.

Profit is not the goal, it is the result of getting things right. If we let our success be defined by others then we will be condemned to play by their rules and we would only ever be able to win on their terms; if you can even call that 'winning' at all.

Right now there is a devastatingly narrow definition of success pervading all crypto currencies and it's time we broadened our minds. We cannot let the regime of the past smuggle its way in to the future under cover of new technology. Because it's not just the technology that has to change, it's us.

We are moving away from the industrial era in to an age where we all own the means of our production. There is something in us that is desperate to get out and all that is lacking are the right tools and understanding.

Today we focus on the merchant class. A merchant is one who can join the work of artists and inventors together with the people who have the desire and appreciation of the craft.

"Markets are conversations"
To coin a phrase from the cluetrain manifesto all those years ago. Markets are places where people meet to discuss their needs. Where the demands of the buyer are both anticipated and understood by the seller and where the buyer bows to the expertise of the creator who is better able to understand the tools and the constraints of their materials.

The Feathercoin market place is growing with new merchants signing up every day

We have had some 40 auctions so far with over 17% being successfully fulfilled in the last 7 days alone. The market now includes a range of perfumes, shoes, electronics, Bitcoin crypto mining equipment and more. Let's focus on a few of the merchants who have signed up in the last seven days:

UK Computer Retailer hits the Feathercoin Marketplace
Word spreads fast. Now this computer shop in Oxford is selling crypto mining hardware for Feathercoins on our market. We have also had a glimpse of their online store which they tell us is going to accept Feathercoin once it is up and running.

Computer Assistance is a retailer in Oxford who attended our meetups at the Oxford Blue, they now take Feathercoin

Actually this caught us by surprise. The shop simply started listing their products a few days after launch, so we will reach out to them this week to get their response.

Have you got some ideas on how we can help them to promote this once it is ready to go on their site? Send us your thoughts and if we end up using yours there will some Feathercoins making their way to your wallet quicker than you can say Merkle Tree.

Tipa.eu - Electronics
We must say a big thanks to @Mirrax who has been with us since beginning all the way back in May. Thanks to him you can now purchase Tipa products for Feathercoin.

Selected items can now be bought in the Marketplace and he would like your feedback on the kind of things you'd like to buy from Tipa store.

Tipa is a quality electronics store in the Czech Republic for professionals and enthusiasts,
shipping to the EU on the Feathercoin Marketplace now

Products range from kitchen and household goods, gardening equipment to specialist electronics and DIY equipment the kind you would find in a hardware store or somewhere like Maplins in the UK.

Tipa have 5 stores across the Czech Republic with a range of pickup points. We are glad to be able to help them reach new markets across the EU without the hindrance of the legacy banking system.

Maid Naturally was founded in 2006 by Ruthanne Eberly and Heather Brown, two former work colleagues who became friends and then decided to start a business together. Today, their maid service has created 15 jobs where they service their customers in all of Inland Northwest USA.

Heather and Ruthanne became friends after working together in 1989,
in 2006 they decided to become co-founders of this thriving local business

Maid Naturally also manufactures their own line of 100% natural cleaning products that are distributed to 15 states and sold nationwide through their online store, and of course on our very own:

Checkout this range of natural cleaning product, it's yours for 500FTC, buy it before before the price goes up!

Nathan Brown, national sales director told us:
Quote
The objective of joining the Feathercoin marketplace was to allow the Feathercoin community easy access to the Maid Naturally product line and eventually we will be accepting Feathercoin on our website.

Now let's take a look at that community that Nathan cited as his reason for joining...

Let's get Svenn back to the UK

Artist's representation of Svenn, a Feathercoin miner
who provides regular Support for the members on our forum

What can we say about @Svenn. He is one of our most popular members which is well earned after all the countless hours he puts in on the Support forum, he even does one to one support on Skype if you ask him nicely to help with a range of technical issues and queries about mining.

Well now he is raising some money so that he can come back the UK after his last visit at the meetup last month.

So far Svenn has raised 3768 FTC of a target of 7200 FTC so please show your appreciation for all his hard work.

The Sciency Bit - API improvement & Feathercoin 0.9 Roadmap
The Feathercoin API has been rewritten to be more resilient and much faster. To access the API please go to the link below.
https://api.feathercoin.com/

The API has several features and is growing based on demand. Currently you can query the value of Feathercoin in AUD, EUR, GBP, NZD and USD, generate QR codes and get the current difficulty, balance of an address, number of confirms since the last received amount and general stats.
For help and support or if there is anything that you need in the API please go to the following thread on the Feathercoin forum and make a post.
http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,4021.0.html

There are some features on the horizon from Bitcoin 0.9 that Feathercoin will want to be a part of and while we innovate on our own we also want to keep abreast with the rest of the crypto currency world. To get us into a position to make best use of these features we are now creating a 0.8.5 release of Feathercoin. Once the basic work involved in moving Feathercoin 0.8.5 is complete the source code will be released and we can all pore over the code and test it together.

If you want to be more actively involved in the coding side of Feathercoin please let us know by PMing @Bushstar. He is happy to add people as collaborators to the Feathercoin 0.8.5 build while it goes through the transition and is not making the repository public as we do not want people pulling from this build and using it in production. Allowing people access who explicitly ask for it is different as you know what it is about already.

TL;DR
It's easier than ever to be noticed. Leadership must make its way down to the level of the individual before it's too late, there is no time left to point the finger and shirk responsibilities, the banks are just the warts on the surface they are the symptom not the cause, the real problem exists in all of us they just help us with the diagnosis.

Your real wealth is time, never let someone else define what makes you successful because when you compete with other people all it will get you is enemies. When you compete with yourself you not only have a more worthy adversary you will find many friends who will help you.

You can find last week's newsletter here: Courage is Always Original. Today special thanks go to @Svenn, @EcoCrypto, @MaidNaturally @Mirrax @Bushstar and @Ruthie for their contributions to this newsletter and the quote about competing with yourself was inspired by a line in the book Start with Why by Simon Sinek which your author highly recommends Smiley

There is not a lack of jobs in the world, there's a lack of leadership. Jobs don't get made by those pulling leavers in central governments, jobs are made by people, especially those who are able to understand the nature of reality ahead of those around them.

The time has come to share what we have with the wider world. Right now all crypto currencies are centralised, they are centralised because they are specialised and used by a narrow demographic.

This technology is too powerful and too important to keep caged inside niche internet forums.

Whoever Defines Money the Best Will Inherit the Wealth
We are over the moon and quite humbled by the response we got from the wider crypto world on our video which launched last Thursday.

Our hope in making this video was to bring together a mainstream audience together with people in to the crypto space. This technology is amazing and it has huge potential to help many the world over. But this opportunity will be best realised if the diversity of people in our space is broader.

The community funded video has received over 1,300 views as of today
with above average retention from viewers in every continent of the globe

Those who were interviewed on the day showed tremendous courage, many people in this space are afraid to even use their real names on a forum post, let alone put their face on camera for the world to see. We believe accountability and transparency are key to the success of a global currency. Indeed in the words of Julian Assange:

"Transparency for the powerful, privacy for the weak"

When it came to describing mining we deliberately chose to change the music and the colour tone. Our aim was not to give the lay person a perfect understanding of how the technology worked in a 3 minute video but rather spark their curiosity such that they would want to look more in to it. But mostly to make sure that they got the concept of the Blockchain being a public ledger.

We believe that money itself is being rediscovered, as it has become divorced from its original meaning. But we also believe that its redefinition will not come from a few people but from many, spread out across the world, from diverse cultures each bringing with them a different perspective on the world, because truth is not found in the middle it is found at the edges.

We hope that our videos will reach people the world over and help to raise awareness of the fine work that is going on here on these forums.

Feathercoin Market Open
The Feathercoin market is back with a major improvements and many bug fixes. Including:
  • Escrow facility
  • Buy Now (new and improved)
  • Proxy bidding (new and improved)
  • Numerous bug fixes following great feedback - thank-you

Most noticeable is the built-in escrow system which in my mind makes the market work.

The marketplace has been filling up with items while discussions with larger merchants are taking place

On of the most requested features was the escrow facility. The buyer sends the funds to the escrow wallet and the seller is notified so that they can send the goods. Once the buyer receives it they can then instruct the escrow to release the funds to the seller.

The market now features automated escrow facility bringing confidence to bidders and sellers

We have already had some interest from merchants, some new to crypto, who want to try selling limited ranges of products to test the market. Including household items and gardening products and eco friendly mining equipment.

I for one am looking forward to my smarties which I bought from @mnstrcck actually before the market was even open.

Bounties and tips
One of the first things you will notice when entering our forum is the responsiveness. The other day @hank dropped by to ask for some help with feathercoinj because he discovered a bug which meant that people could not export their wallet. Unfortunately @hank got hung up on some bugs in his code, but within a few hours of making his post the problem had been solved and the bounty which was awarded to @Kevlar.

As a result any wallets which were exported with older versions of feathercoinj can now be converted back into the correct format and imported into the QT client. This paves the way for future projects which wish to interact with Feathercoin to do so using Mike Hearn's excellent code base, especially mobile projects like @hank's Feathercoin wallet for Android devices. A big thank you goes out to both Mike and @hank for making this possible... we're eagerly looking forward to seeing what he will produce next!

TL;DR - Great artists ship
Those who do not remember the past don't have a future. Redefining money requires reaching out across the globe. If a pyramid scheme is when those at the bottom support those at the top then we believe in serving those at the bottom for they are the ones who are strong.

To do this we will need to tell a story that can be understood by everyone and be able to identify the challenges as well being prepared to spread out the work to those best able to complete the task. Helping people to feel part of something bigger than themselves.

We pride ourselves on a our productivity and responsiveness to those who care to join in. We're still here, we're growing stronger everyday and we are not going away.

In the words of one of our most eloquent members @Tuck Fheman:

"FTC has something most coins don't ... a will to survive."

I've never thought much of FTC but I must admit I am impressed, it at least shows the dev team are committed.

Bingo! Feathercoin probably has the most committed team of techs putting in more hours than any other alt coin aside from Bitcoin itself. I am willing to be proved wrong though  Smiley

That is an absolutely fantastic video! I'm going to be sharing that with some of my relatives that still don't understand what I'm doing.

This is exactly what I was going for. Trying to bring together the two communities of geeks and regular folk. Please let me know their feedback and best of luck.

Very nice video, just bought a few FTC just incase I'm ever in oxford and thirsty  Wink
There ya go, mission accomplished for the FTC team  Cheesy

Lol  Cheesy

No seriously, this gives me a renewed confidence in FTC.
For the team to put something together like this after the events of the last couple of months, I think it is great they still have such enthusiasm for their coin, and I wish them the best of luck for the future.

That's really great to hear. Thank-you.

Take this from someone that isn't a big fan of FTC.

This video is absolutely amazing. It is exactly what is needed on a much larger scale for the entire Crypto-currency realm from BTC to LTC to FTC. This is something that can be shown to people not in this "world" right now, and it would bring interest into learning more about it.

Chris and the entire team has done an amazing job with this. I am beyond impressed, and for those asking what can be done to increase interest in Cryptos, this hit the nail on the head.

</amazed>

I am humbled, thank-you.

Move fast and break things

Feathercoin Key Stats
174 days since genesis block creation
Approx. 18,540,000 Feathercoins created
Approx. 13.4 days behind target generation rate

In a recent interview with The Atlantic Zuckerberg was talking about the work he was doing with US Congress on immigration reform. He made a profound statement on the way decisions are made in government:

“The cynical view is that everything is broken and sucks... My view is that the system is set up to avoid making catastrophic mistakes, and right now the country is really divided, and therefore few things should get done, except for the things that people really agree on"

If we are going to help to redefine money for the new economy the decision making process is vital to our success. Zuckerberg's insight is that what really matters is being prepared to take long term view and undertake the hard work that nobody else wants to do; even if that means being patient and getting your hands dirty in the process.

And so now I turn to our first task this week: increasing the number and diversity of voices within the Feathercoin project itself...

Feathercoin is as strong as its global reach and the diversity of the people it serves. Local Feathercoin is part of our strategy reach out to the farthest regions of the globe by giving the people this powerful tool to discover and unlock Feathercoin in their local community.

Local Feathercoin was mentioned in our first news letter following
@Tuneman1980's project to get Feathercoiners on a global map

We have already gained some traction in the UK and once we have a workable template in local communities we would like to scale this out across the globe. So why wait? People can even offer bounties for their favourite city on the forum.

Our path to merchant adoption involves reaching out to small local businesses who are currently under represented by the banking system, we have to serve the customers they don't want because the real wealth in an economy is found in its people. But the number one barrier to entry merchants tell us they have is their ability to exchange FTC for fiat. We are working on this and would be very grateful if anyone could help us match up the short term needs of the merchant with investors willing to take a long term position in our coin.

By taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture we can make sure we are represented by many cultures all over the world. And that's when the hard work really begins...

Technical Development Board
There's a joke in the halls of congress:

Laws are like sausages, everyone enjoys eating them but nobody wants to see them being made.

The Technical Development Board was the brain child of @Kevlar who did a poll on our forum asking for a place for technical discussion only. Much conversation was had about the rules and in the end, after some research and debate, we settled on the guidelines employed by Wikipedia:

  • Be civil
  • Assume the best in others

This also chimes with Paul Graham's Hierarchy of Disagreement which states that the best way to tackle an argument is by refuting the central points rather than resorting to attacks on the person. It's vital that we leave our egos at the door when discussing matters as important as a new global currency. If we are privileged enough to be chosen by the world as one of its new mediums of exchange it will be because we had an open door policy on dialogue ensuring every voice was heard and we were still able to have a drink together afterwards.

What really matters is giving up the need to be right, staying true to the eventual outcome by serving on behalf of the idea itself.

Nut2pools acquires FTCgames
And one of the things that makes this hard work so worth it is the foundation of opportunities it creates for entrepreneurs like @NutNut with Nut2pools who this week has acquired FTCgames and welcomes its founder @UKmark on board. We have spoken about Mark a few times in the past who is also the man behind SMS Wallet.

FTCGames is a place to play games like Heads and Tails and Lucky7

I spoke with @svennand and @Nutnut earlier and they told me:
"We needed to think, what would make Nut2Pools special, how could we evolve further to bring our loyal miners some extra benefits. How could we make Nut2Pools a greater experience for people?"

Mining any crypto currency is a risky business. One of the central tasks of Feathercoin has been to try and establish a loyal mining base. It is their hope that with the help of UKMark they can get mining out to the masses and make it a more enjoyable experience.

Feathercoin GUI Miner - Beta Testers Wanted
Sticking to the topic of mining another aim of our project is to make it easier to mine Feathercoins without dumbing it down or compromising on conceptual integrity.

I am exciting to talk about @ChekaZ on our forum who is working on a Feathercoin GUI Miner which is going to make it much easier to mine Feathercoins without the need for command line.

The software requires Java Runtime and is currently in beta. @ChekaZ would love your feedback so make your way over to the thread and check it out.

Reddit Tipbot
We had some great news this week when the developer behind Reddit's ALTcointip bot (reddit.com/r/altcointip), @vindimy, frequented our forum and told us he would like to include Feathercoin in the list of supported coins on the Reddit forum.

This gets right to the heart of what matters, the gift economy and value for value exchanges in the market place. We spoke last week about the importance of the giving culture and I said that I had hoped to see more efforts like this, I never expected it to be so soon. Long may this continue.

The Sciency Bit

The Feathercoin hard fork has been a success. We can now see that the difficulty reacts to the hashrate in a much more granular way than before. What we find is that when the difficulty goes up after a more profitable period, just-for-profit drop off before the difficulty goes too high and those loyal miners who see the long term benefit of Feathercoin can continue to mine with us without seeing a large drop in their returns. This hard fork was aimed at keeping loyal miners with us and we can see that the hashrate at its lowest is now nearly double what it was before. That's why I say that this hard fork is a success.

TL;DR - It's not what you steal but what you do with it
Facebook's often misquoted motto that is the title of today's piece is actually a bit longer:

"Move fast, break things, then fix it!"

What matters is our willingness to take responsibility for our actions and the things we break, not just to leave them broken but to continually strive to build on and improve them. We are beginning to see a new breed of entrepreneur emerge, one who takes a playful approach in their ventures unwilling to ask for permission and rarely even seeking forgiveness.

A model that doesn't include is a broken model and we will do a better job of this by reaching out to all cultures across the world. The global banking system should never have become the huge profit centre that it is today; it should be marginally profitable at best. With sites like Nut2Pools the task now is to discover the people who are willing to step up and perform this duty.

A truly great currency should make everyone better off. The global banking network should exist to serve the needs of the many and help the people of this world achieve their dreams.

Nice, good work again Chris, how quickly was the bounty found?

Just over an hour until someone said they had found it. But then it took him about 3 hours to work out how to sweep the keys and spend the coins safely lol

Good fun though and he was very happy.

Feathercoin Official Weekly Update #2

Survival is the best revenge

Feathercoin Key Stats

Approx. 17,700,000 Feathercoins created
Approx. 13.4 days behind target generation rate

The Romans were secure enough with their identity that they did not at all mind copying the Greeks. Purpose has nothing on passion. The most important thing is not the relentless drive to be different, always craving the novel, but to appreciate what you do have and learn to get the most out of it. A technology will evolve until it is fully understood by its people. How much you care is all you should be concerned about, nobody can talk to your customers the way you can. Here is a recap of the last 7 days:

London Bitcoin Meetup
I had a great time at the London Bitcoin meetup where I met Bittylicious founder Marc Warne who has turned in to something of a minor celebrity in the Bitcoin space after he made it super simple to buy Bitcoins in an easy step by step process, a real privelige I might add and I hope we get to work together soon. I also met up with the very knowledgable Richard Boase who writes over at Cyber Salon so a very edifying experience was had all round.

Iain Cresswell, the organiser, has done an incredible job of bringing together both Bitcoin newbies and  veterans in London to create a lively discussion. Most people I spoke to knew all about Feathercoin and had many good things to say about us which is a breath a fresh air after spending so much time on Bitcointalk listening to all the lovely critics who help to keep us strong Smiley

If you are from London, UK don't forget to sign up to the next Bitcoin meetup which is going to be at Google Campus, which is a big milestone. We have already been trialling our Mobile Crypto Exchange from there with much success.

UKMark has been at it again this time with a stats page on the distribution of hashing power across the pools on the network.

This nifty Pool Parser complements our existing Stats Page and gives a clear view of the network hashrate distribution in one place. Big thanks to UKMark and this won't be the last we are hearing of him.

Sharing the love
We must continue to thank Nutnut for all his hard work on the forum, after reorganising many thousands of posts in the last few weeks we are finally at a stage where we are happy with it. Now after a landslide victory in a recent poll called Should we share the love? the Feathercoin Forum now has a Reputation system.

You get the behaviour you design for and it's already come to our attention that there are certain members of the community who like to give our mods a hard time but who nevertheless are gaining some respect from their peers. It's an important part of keeping ourselves in check and making sure the right people get to the top.

Giving Is The Best Form of Communication
Big thanks again to UKMark and Kevlar for their work on the Feathercoin Widget. UKMark modified the Donate Widget to work with Feathercoin. Kevlar modified it to not launch a new window needlessly, improving the user experience. This will currently only work for Windows users... I know, I know Sad

Developers: checkout the widget on github.

The tipping culture is one of the most popular use cases in crypto (outside of buying high and selling low). You are going to see, I hope, more of these kinds of efforts in the future that will help to promote a culture of excessive generosity, a world where value speaks for itself and paying someone isn't just easy it's delightful.

Keep track of your Crypto port folio on the move
Crypto Keep is a crypto currency port folio tracker available on Android. It is brought to you by one of our longest standing members on the forum aysyr who has been around with us since April and has created this neat app that keeps you up to date on your crypto holdings wherever you are (as long as there is an internet connection, and the blockchain isn't under attack). Aysyr has already received tips in FTC and support from the community and says he would be grateful if more people could try it out.

It works with the following cryptos:

Feathercoin, Phenixcoin, Worldcoin, Bitcoin, Litecoin, PPCoin, Primecoin, Digitalcoin, Yacoin, Namecoin, Xencoin, Solidcoin, Novacoin, Terracoin, CryptogenicBullion, Ixcoin, Megacoin, and Mincoin

The three major government backed scam coins currencies are supported: USD, GBP and EUR.

What better way to find out if you can afford this month's rent as your net worth goes up and down like a yoyo? Certainly beats Cryptsy's new two factor auth takes ages to login.

Feathercoin Miner Update
We are pleased to announce that 9:49pm on Sunday night we successfully made it through our hard fork at Block 87,948.

Image courtesy of iawgoM on the Feathercoin Forum

The latest Feathercoin version 0.6.4.4 is now available and is a mandatory update available from our home page. Though the current Feathercoin difficulty which we changed to get us out of a tough spot it is not fair for long term miners who have to experience 41.4% swings on every adjust. The new code will adjust four times more frequently at 126 blocks but to approximately 9% which still gives the exact same overall adjust. To prevent the difficulty from being sent up or down too rapidly the current 504 sample window is being maintained and damping is being introduced to reduce fluctuations between extremes.

There have been long running discussion and arguments on the Feathercoin forum including simulations of various different options surrounding this solution. Feel free to take a look at the latest discussion here.

Feathercoin, now with extra granularity.

Changelog:
Move to 126 difficulty adjust with 504 averaging window and .25 damping
Reduce effectivness of Time Warp attack
Reinstate CAlert system
Make getnetworkhashps more accurate
Release Windows binary with QR encode
Added support for handling of Feathercoin URLs

TL;DR - Bringing together the high and the low
The best perspective of all is the low level. We have been working very hard at pounding pavement getting out and meeting people offline, especially in London. The decentralisation of our network along with the security is very important to us. And so are the people along with the tools that enable them to go about their daily lives without having to even know that the money is there. We continue to support the people who care the most in our community and the dialogue on the Feathercoin Kickstarter is still ongoing so it's not too late to get involved. Keep an eye out for more news on the Feathercoin Video from our Oxford Meetup last month, the Market Place and Local Feathercoin projects all of which are being worked on very hard by our dedicated team members.

If you are still reading this you are the resistance. Follow us on Twitter @Feathercoin to stay up to date.

Thank-you for your time.

Bump. I just got one of these emails, this issue needs addressing. I will contact their support and recommend anyone else to do the same.
