81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fee deducted from the transferred amount. Insane. on: February 10, 2014, 05:37:24 AM
BTC-e clearly states how much is fee and how much is actually transferred.

Simple user error.

Yes so it is "user" error...that doesn't help this guy and other businesses who might take BTC.  A lot of people are rather dumb and they can't handle anything but the simplest payment process.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of Florida attacks Bitcoin on: February 10, 2014, 05:34:14 AM
They approached them claiming to want to buy Bitcoin to commit outright crimes.  But yes, New York is the most likely state to simply go right after Bitcoin sellers for no other reason than just selling Bitcoin.  These Florida LEAs felt it necessary to do a sting.  Otherwise, they'd have just arrested them the first time they showed up and sold a small about of Bitcoin.

No because they don't arrest people for breaking the law.  They arrest them for breaking the law when they feel they have a strong enough case for a conviction.  And a jury probably wouldn't convict someone for selling $301 of bitcoin.

My god some people are here are clueless...a lot of you.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of Florida attacks Bitcoin on: February 10, 2014, 05:32:14 AM
You missed a key part of the story where the undercover agent told the bitcoin seller that he was going to use the bitcoins to purchase stolen credit card information.

That is the least important part of this case.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone is a victim not just the Gox customers on: February 09, 2014, 08:20:55 PM
yep, and it continues on all levels: cash deposits being restricted = safest method outlawed = excellent for scammers using stolen accounts

Any regulation that creates a victimless crime, makes the world less safe. That is my theory.

Yes very true and well said
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So...What Happened To Roger Ver & All The Other Gox Fanbois? on: February 09, 2014, 08:19:07 PM

all of Karpeles' butt buddies have gone silent.

where's Bitcoin Jesus and The Disciples of Magical Fux?

They weren't Gox fanboys...they stated the facts at the time and things have changed and I don't see any of them recommending that you send funds to Gox.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doesnt Satoshi Continue Replying on the Forum? on: February 09, 2014, 08:17:24 PM
Why did Satoshi disappear completely? He could have stayed on the forums and could reply to our questions on bitcoin.

He should just return. Please. Thank you.

He probably has better things to do with his time than answer dumb questions from noobs.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 50BTC on a wrecked HDD being sold at a Polish auction site on: February 09, 2014, 08:16:16 PM
Where's the proof for having the 50 BTC on the HD?

You could pull an arbitrary ancient broken HD from the waste and dump it from 50 metres, finally claiming that there was 300 BTC on it.
As long as you can't recover the data, you can't proof that the 300 BTC wasn't there.

Yeah, that's the point...that's probably what they are doing.

First, read the articles at these links:

http://www.morningnewsusa.com/three-bitcoin-traders-arrested-in-florida-238060.html

http://www.dnaindia.com/world/report-three-arrested-in-florida-over-bitcoin-money-laundering-charges-1960172

http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/7/5390782/three-bitcoin-traders-arrested-in-florida-on-money-laundering-charges

Summary of those links is that the in Florida, the state decided to go after some localbitcoin traders for money laundering after setting up a live in person exchange.

Bitcoin is not cocaine. Bitcoin is not crack. It is not cannabis. It is not stolen guns with the serial numbers filed off.

There are a variety of forces that fear technology they do not understand.
There are a variety of forces that fear any technology that breakdowns international borders and barriers.

We, the people who support bitcoin, need to come out in the defense of the guys who were arrested in Florida and support bitcoin.

Yes they fear it and they have good reason to.

Don't expect the Powers That Be to go down without a fight.  And they will fight dirty, and they will probably win for the most part, but just keep your head down and try not to get busted like these dudes were, when doing nothing wrong.
89  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have hated Apple for 2 Decades. on: February 08, 2014, 10:26:33 AM
Same here...never used ITunes and I've disliked Apple for about 20 years too. I did have Mac Classic and Mac II and those were nice computers for their time, but that's the last apple product that I bought or even really used.

But their advertising is obnoxious and geared to the stupid and their products are overpriced, so haven't used anything of theirs in 20 years and don't plan to again.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Jobs Rolls In His Grave - Of Apple and Bitcoin on: February 08, 2014, 05:36:42 AM
Apple marketing works. They made you all think they're innovators and leaders in technology.

Anyone brainwashed by the Apple marketing had a right to think that Apple would be Bitcoin friendly.

Well, they're not. If you stop consuming their products now, they win.

Many people are weak minded and easily brainwashed.   I've always found Apple's marketing absurd and insulting, by my IQ is in the triple digits too..

Steve Jobs would have loved this move.

"According to court documents, the agent told Michelhack that he wanted to use the Bitcoins to purchase stolen credit cards online. After that trust-building transaction, Michelhack allegedly agreed to handle a much larger deal: Converting $30,000 in cash into Bitcoins."

there's the real story.

Nope that's not the real story at all.  That's just something they added to make the case slightly stronger.  And to confuse easily confused people.

These guys were arrested for trading bitcoins in FL.  Even $301 worth would have made it an "illegal" act and they could have been arrested.
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to NOT be a victim of a sting operation on: February 08, 2014, 05:28:43 AM

pretty much makes LocalBitcoins transactions illegal in Florida.

Yes it does and yes it is.  Sad but true
94  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: COINBASE - Serious Issue - Reversing Bank Deposits, erroneous withdrawals, etc.. on: February 07, 2014, 07:37:08 AM
CONbase has stolen money from me on a few occasions.  I am done with them.

96  Economy / Speculation / How do you use Metatrader to trade BTC? on: February 07, 2014, 02:44:55 AM
I've heard some people saying they can trade on margin with Metatrader with BTC and wondering what exchange it is or is Metatrader and exchange or what?   I don't really understand it.  Thanks for an help or tips..
97  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: February 07, 2014, 02:37:47 AM
Bitfinex is my favorite exchange for a number of reasons, but yes still does have some major issues sometimes.  I miss the 4:1 leverage and I've had some terrible fills on market orders, so I recommend you only use limit orders.

But I love it overall and the only one that I really actively trade on nowadays.
98  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can people please report if they have withdrawn BTC from Mtgox and if it arrived on: February 07, 2014, 02:31:53 AM
I did four withdrawls four days ago and one out of four went through and quickly...was 3 BTC.  The other 5 BTC were lost/stuck but just appeared in my Gox account again today.  So I tried to transfer them out again and they are again stuck.
99  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: February 06, 2014, 04:34:08 AM
Yes it says I am up $32,000 on a daytrade when it's really more like $300.  And some of my trades earlier seemed like they were executing but then not updating my balance or active positions..weird.

Does anyone know why the max Leverage is now 2.5 : 1 ?  I have had 4:1 for months but suddenly seems like it changed.
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Throw Charlie under the bus and wash your hands clean of your biggest advocate on: January 30, 2014, 07:27:15 AM
People are funny (and simpletons) when they say that just because someone committed a "crime" (an illegal act) that they should be prosecuted and punished.

At one time it was a crime for women to vote and black people to sit where they wanted on the bus and it' still a crime in most places to smoke a joint or have consensual sex with money involved, etc.

And his friends didn't "throw him under the bus".  They are being pragmatic and trying to do what is best for themselves and for bitcoin.  And of course anyone who speaks up will be the next target of the gov't stormtroopers.

Yes he may or may not have done something that was illegal, but most likley not immoral, so I feel bad for the dude and I'm sure his friends do too.  I feel bad for DPR as well and anyone else locked up for victimless crimes, but just the world we live in.
