All of you people freaking out about the price/exchange should be paying more attention to GAME: the underlying currency supported by the MGO crowdsale. It's been doing amazing lately, steadily recovering from the crypto-wide blood bath. It has finally reached pre-ICO pump levels, and looks as strong as ever. As long as GAME is doing well, it's effects on MGO will be magnified in the long run. Profits are going to be amazing when MGO announces their first buy-back and then the major exchanges finally get their shit together and start listing it.

Project Update! Musiconomi FAQ (Part 1)

The team answers some of the basic questions people have been asking about the project. Short, but sweet, with another FAQ or two planned to follow in the coming weeks before the crowdsale.

We are waiting for the confidence to return to the market. During the recent bear market, a lot of investors seem to be wary of sinking money into new projects. The BTC BIP91 lock-in should be a good shot in the arm to the crypto markets as a whole and go a long way to restoring confidence. A couple weeks of another bull market before our crowdsale should get the money flowing again and help us hit our goals. What we DON'T want to do is pull the trigger early and fizzle out with a mediocre raise. CFI needs us to hit this out of the park, both for our sake and theirs.

A low ETH price actually helps us in the long run, as the value will appreciate, as opposed to the teams that got funded at $350 ETH and now have only 2/3 the funding because of the price dip after their crowdsales. And since our target is a set amount of USD (not ETH), we aren't really looking at the price of ETH as a major deciding factor.

The official word is 'soon' and how I hate hearing that. I'm getting sick of only being able to tell people 'we will let you know soon' or 'press release with the dates coming soon'. We are toying with the dates of Aug 7 or Aug 14 right now to start the presale, but nothing has been decided yet between all the stakeholders (MCI, CFI, Advisors, etc). As fast as things move in crypto, the business side sure feels slow sometimes.

Do we have any estimates on when the first MGO buy-and-burn will happen? Just curious

Yes, the sign up to get in on the Community part of the pre-sale is now closed. However, you can still get in via owning CFI tokens and singing up through their dashboard. We have not started the crowdsale yet, and the current status is 'pushed back a week or two due to market conditions'. We will make sure to be obvious about posting the official date everywhere when it is decided upon.

No, there is no bounty campaign.

Opus is interesting, especially with the progress they've made on the IPFS approach to music storage (which is actually how the Musicoin.org platform handles it too). But since it is a entirely ETH-based they aren't using the same Pay-per-play micro-transaction schema as the underlying Musicoin technology, purely due to prohibitive transaction costs in eth, you have to buy the track outright. So it's basically chinese iTunes on blockchain. They have their own challenges, and I wish the team luck. Innovation and competition is healthy for all parties involved.

Right now the smart contract charges one mc per play, but we intend to switch that up to allow artists to set up the smart contracts on a per-track basis to allow them to charge however much they think is fair for a play, including fractions of a musicoin.

You can access the pre-sale either through signing up to the mailing list before the 16th (thereby becoming part of the Musiconomi early access community) OR also by having CFI tokens and having Priority Pass access. You don't necessarily need to have both. If you have the required amount of CFI, you can check their new dashboard for more info.

There will be no bonus tokens or discount rates. We are trying to make it fair for everyone. And since this isn't some scam-coin project that's going to take your money and run, we don't feel the need to pressure people to dump their money on day one due to a fear of missing out.

That would actually be an excellent suggestion for a future token utility project. We are building in a mechanism for users to propose projects exactly like this for the team to work on (when bandwidth allows) that will benefit both the users and the platform.
