801  Economy / Auctions / Re: Huawei E3372h 3G/4G up to 150MBPS UNLOCKED on: August 28, 2017, 12:48:56 PM
Quick question before I consider bidding:

Is this just a 3G/4G USB 'modem', or is it a Wi-Fi receiver too? In other words, can I connect to the internet via Wi-Fi with this device or only through a SIM card with a mobile plan.
802  Other / Meta / Re: How to combat the surge in scam ICOs on: August 28, 2017, 12:26:33 PM
While being new to this community: agreed. The amount of scammy or just super unprofessional ICO's is astounding.

The idea of charging 1 BTC per ICO thread is interesting, but has some flaws too: first of all, how to administer it? Either, there would have to be manual approval (which might take a long time, if a lot of requests come in), or a complete payment gateway would have to be set up (which I find hard to believe, considering the simplicity of the forum software).
Then there is the question of how would the newly-financed task force operate? Would it be pre-approval, or removal of scammy ICO's after the post has been made? And who would be the judge on borderline cases?

But in general, yes, I believe the current Altcoin forum is almost anarchy, and something should be done to rein in the scammers and spammers. I like the idea of fixing some rules on terminology and minimum standards. I also have another idea: how about banning completely new acounts (such as my own, actually  Wink ) from posting in that subforum? So that, for example, only accounts with 100 activity or more post there?
This might root out some of the throwaway spam accounts that are created purely for spamming up one ICO and dissapear afterwards.

I too would have to agree with this. There are a massive amount of scam ICOs today, (while being new to the community, I have read through most of cryptodevil's recent threads and I have to say it is very interesting).

However, a problem I can see with this is that if people are setting up a scam ICO, they are most likely going to devote to it as it is certainly a lot of work to make it seem legitimate. Therefore, I am sure that they are willing to pay even a 1 BTC fee with hopes to raise more.

Look at LustICO for example, they have already raised more than 1 BTC and have also been labelled as scammers. Even if they had paid a fee, they would still have surely gone a head with their operation. In the end, I think it is a great idea, but I do can't really see the 95% reduction being a reality, however I may be wrong.
803  Economy / Reputation / Re: how to convey trust on: August 28, 2017, 12:16:31 PM
Hi,

if I want to trust someone .. how do I convey to him so that it gets registered ....

quick guidelines pls

Yes, all you can do is just click on their profile and fill in the box with the bubbles to leave a trust rating. It will automatically get registered to that account. Just because you left a positive rating doesn't mean that the account will become green trusted. I think only DT-2 can give you green trust, but I may be wrong. (Don't quote me on that)

805  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: August 27, 2017, 02:08:07 AM
Yes, I think it would attract the same amount of people, if not more - as mentioned by Lauda. Many people are afraid to invest into cryptocurrencies because of their fluctuating value. Same goes for businesses, if Bitcoin's value dropped drastically (highly unlikely, but still), then businesses would surely loose a lot of money, if not having to close down their store. For the average consumer, I think it would attract more and Bitcoin would start to be used mainly as a currency, and not an investment asset.
806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you save bitcoin for fun or for future purpose? on: August 26, 2017, 09:46:22 AM
I mainly save bitcoins for the future. Although I have been constantly spending my bitcoins for items here and there, the majority I have saved up. I am still waiting for a huge price increase, just like anyone else. I do think that holding bitcoins is a smart and wise thing to do.
807  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CoinMarketCap.com Tracking - All Coins listed on: August 25, 2017, 10:19:55 AM
Looking good! Maybe try changing the font to something stylish, maybe something like Google's Roboto. It would really make a difference, at least in my opinion.

EDIT: Google's 'Exo' font also looks great!
808  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prices rise high on: August 25, 2017, 08:28:14 AM
Many people are now curious to know what bitcoin is, whereas once bitcoin was just underestimated, now upside down many people stop working instead they prefer to focus on bitcoin

Is this the impact of rising bitcoin prices?

Yes, I would say that. Bitcoin's price rises can usually be tied to the amount of people using the network. Of course, there are exceptions, but the majority of the times that is the reason. It is amazing to be able to see bitcoin grow so much over the last few years, going from nothing to something that is a few thousand times more valuable than the US dollar itself.
809  Economy / Economics / Re: lest we forget, Bitcoin is a blessing. on: August 25, 2017, 05:09:52 AM
Yes, I would say so. After the 2008 financial crisis, people looked towards better means of payment and an overall decentralised currency - that is sort of how bitcoin was formed. Bitcoin has done us with many benefits, however it has also fuelled the dark net with full of illegal acts, thanks to bitcoin's anonymity.

Its funny because people say it has no "real" value but these days anything you invest in with the stock market has made up values by bankers. Many businesses even operate with negative P/E and raise stupid amounts of money yet crypto is somehow in a bubble? Even the US dollar has no more backing by gold so with that analogy the USD is just as worthless.

Yes, this is very true. All currency does not have a value unless there is a physical object behind it, like gold was used as a payment form long ago. Bitcoin is better in the sense that there is a limit to how many can be mined, while the USD and any other paper currency is just being churned out at an alarming rate, creating an even bigger bubble than before.
810  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin provide income on line? on: August 24, 2017, 11:01:18 AM
many of my friends did not work but a lot of money away was great when compared, to me that is still working in the factory, I was confused from where producer obtained from bitcoin?

Yes, Bitcoin defiantly has the potential to provide many more jobs over the internet, provided you actually have a stable internet connection. Selling your services for a payment in bitcoin as well as trading will yield you great profits.
As far as I know Bitcoin only provides a way to earn but it definetly does not give a person a job. What I mean about that is people who are online looking for something to be paid is called being "self-employed" in which you are only paid for the work done but in by noeams you are considered as a permanent employee. I hope you don't get confused the next time you try to explain it.

Yes, I agree - sorry for my confusion. Bitcoin does not provide permanent employment to anyone, but a temporary one as long as that certain individual is willing to work for themselves by selling their services.

812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why use Bitcoins ? on: August 24, 2017, 09:22:41 AM
Why use Bitcoins ?

I keep seeing threads on “why don't people” ? The real question to me is Why would they ?

-The average consumer will go way out of their way to save money. Bitcoins cost more.
-The average consumer will usually pay a little extra to have convenience. Bitcoin is less convenience and more hoops and complications.

I just cannot see any reason for the average consumer to use Bitcoins. Until average consumers start using Bitcoins they will just be an experiment and a small speculative bubble.

I have my personal reasons, I am interested Bitcoins them as a tech person, speculative investor and person that follows evolving treads and markets. I am just struggling to see any.. benefits for the average consumer at this stage.

Yes, Bitcoins do cost more, but you get what you paid for. If you buy x amount if bitcoins in fiat, you will get that same amount of value in bitcoins. You can then go to online retailers such as Amazon and Microsoft where you are able to spend your bitcoins in exchange for goods.

However, the main reason for why the average consumer does not use bitcoins is the fact that there are a limited number of local stores that have yet to accept bitcoin as a payment method for their customers. If an individual has no place to spend their bitcoins (locally for food, drinks... etc), then yes, there is no reason for them to start using bitcoin. Unless they want to get involved with the blockchain and maybe use bitcoin as an investment.

814  Economy / Economics / Re: Selling Bitcoin = Opportunity loss?! on: August 24, 2017, 08:51:49 AM
Well, in a way it is. I mean, there have been multiple occasions where this statement has been proven correct and it is certainly a very valid thing to say. Bitcoin's value has dramatically climbed in the last few days / weeks and many people have become rich because of this.

I'd take advice from a financial specialist that knows about bitcoins before trying to sell or buy..

Why do you really need to? All it takes is a little common sense that bitcoin's value don't suddenly drop and die, and it is almost certain that it will / it has turned into something big that is used on a world-wide scale.
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is instant way to get rich ? on: August 24, 2017, 08:19:47 AM
what do you think about this topic?

Well, in certain ways. If you hold onto bitcoins for long enough, you may make enough money to be 'rich' yourself. However, this greatly depends on the price that you have purchased the account at. However, gaining bitcoins is a gradual process that usually involves a lot of patience and time, meaning that it will take you a matter of months if not years to make yourself rich. In the meantime, you can also take jobs an sell your services for bitcoin. Browse through the forum and see what other ways you can make bitcoin. Holding alone will take you a lot of time.
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin just an asset ? on: August 23, 2017, 11:12:58 AM
I would have to say that bitcoin is a bit of both, a currency and an asset. Bitcoin certainly shows more signs of an asset as an investment.
Today, bitcoin is mostly used for trading for altcoins and vice versa. The reasons for this is that as stated by ObscurePen, bitcoin is not yet accepted in many stores throughout the countries, except with an occasional exception. However, this is soon to change as I am sure more and more businesses will start to accept bitcoin as a payment method for their customers.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the future on: August 23, 2017, 10:07:48 AM
Do you think friends, in which year Bitcoin will completely absorb all the finances of the planet's system?BTC

Highly unlikely, however there is a very slight chance. As mentioned by ObscurePen, governments will not be willing to switch over bitcoin as they would loose a majority of their control over their citizen's finances. Bitcoin will probably be a side currency next to fiat, unless governments drastically change their mindset about bitcoin.
However, even though Bitcoin is highly volatile, it is still a sure investment opportunity and the price will drastically increase in the future, just like it has in the past few months.
818  Economy / Economics / Re: How to make money only with BTC on: August 23, 2017, 09:14:57 AM
There are countless ways to make money from Bitcoin, the biggest being, of course, trading.

I hear many saying they don't mess with altcoins...
Why not? Altcoin trading is one of the most popular trading methods used today by the community. However, if trading is not your cup of tea, I would advise you stay out of it then. It is very easy to loose a large sum of money over a very short period of time.

for some big time investors they consider bitcoin as their long time preservation or long term investment, they just buy whenever they want and sometimes they actually set buy limits at low prices or even wait til the price drops then buy, the next thing they do was just left it in their cold storage to freeze and then let the time pass buy, in other words they just hold it.

I agree, holding has become one of the longest, but surest ways to earn bitcoin. It takes time and patience, but it can surely pay off, depending on what price you have purchased your BTC.

If you have a special set of skills you would like to advertise, I would advise you to look up the marketplace topic and browse through the services there. Selling your services is also one of the best ways to make money through BTC, and there is also minimal risk attached to it. The amount of money you make is solely dependant on the amount of work-hours you are willing to place into your job.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are transaction times so slow? on: August 23, 2017, 07:45:38 AM
My transaction has been completed, looks like there was a lot of load on the block chain. Still waiting for Segwit to be able to give us 8Mbs/block. Anyone have an idea when that will be?
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why are transaction times so slow? on: August 22, 2017, 09:07:46 AM
Hello! I am not sure if this is the wrong board or not, but I would like to ask.

Why are the transaction times so slow? I have sold an item online around 5 hours ago and my transaction is still on 0 confirmations.
Transaction TX:ID

Is there a problem with my wallet or is it just the network that is currently slow.
