801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Back to the Future story :-> on: March 09, 2019, 08:21:48 AM
I wasn’t going to post in thread until I saw your post. Why do you have to be such an ass hole, let him dream if he wants to, it’s not doing you any harm. Why are you even here if you don’t believe in bitcoin, why are you in a sig campaign earning satoshis?
I also believe in Bitcoin but I'm always trying to be realistic and support my faith with at least some facts.

If you look at a price chart since the first block was mined you’ll see that the exponiental trend is actually upwards, always upwards over time. The price of 1BTC will probably reach six figures in the next 5-10 years, I hope you have a pile of coins otherwise you’re going to be full of regrets.

Unfortunately, it does not guarantee that Bitcoin price will grow that high.
I also have some BTC savings but as I said It is better to be realistic without any blind faith in wealthy future that will come from nothing.

1. First of all, it doesn't seem that bitcoin will rise that much. Most people still not willing to use it and probably will never start.
Peoples who are not willing to use it now doesn't mean that they won't use it in the future... let's keep it for the future.
There will always be two kinds of peoples for everything in this world; with a positive mind and with a negative mind.
Currency is not growing just because its users got a positive mind.

2. Why this piece of garbage called Tesla is a car of the future?
You don't know the future... something bad now doesn't mean to be bad forever. Note, I don't know much abt Tesla.
Unfortunately, Tesla is too bad (starting from the product and ending with production and management issues) and Elon Musk is a doubtful and overhyped businessman.  While traditional auto concerns are making better cars.

802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the likely problems that cryptocurrency poses to the financial sector? on: March 09, 2019, 08:01:45 AM
that is what bitcoin is, that alternative that was created because the fiat system was shitty and it is not about to replace it unless it continues to suck.
and remember that bitcoin is here to solve problems not cause any, if you see some problems, know that they existed before bitcoin. with bitcoin they only became more obvious.
Our economy should collapse that much that we should get back to the stone age.
In the modern world, people only use cryptocurrencies if their economy is totally dead and the annual inflation is higher then Bitcoin can loose. So if you are not resident of Venezuela or the other communistic country then you probably won't see see BTC as one of your main currencies.

3. People already can pay with smartwatch and maybe some other stuff that could be put on their wrist. You have to be more creative to show the future.

Tbh it is pretty funny to see someone's wet dreams about how his satoshies will make him rich in a couple of decades.
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning network for BTC laundering on: March 08, 2019, 08:18:03 PM

The thing is: if you send funds using the LN to one person, and this person sends funds back, it'll most likely go over the same channel, and it'll cancell eachother out...

It is possible to add more addresses to the channel? For example, if a user sends a transaction via an opened channel to the mixer and then getting a transaction on another address via the same channel?
In this case it seems like mixing information will be stored only on mixer. Or not?
805  Economy / Gambling / Re: How skrill is working in your countries. Is they close while verification on: March 08, 2019, 08:01:30 PM
That is why I never use Skrill or Neteller for online payment. I prefer to use Paypal, but you know that Paypal is very strictly for the member. But as long as you don't make any mistake or using your account to abusing their rule, you will be fine.

The only advantage of Skrill is that in some countries PayPal is not working or sometimes accounts are only allowed to send payments to ebay while Skrill still works fine.

The same thing happened to my account too and I have about 432 Euro looked down. Good to know that am not a alone in this situation and I believe with time the will be resolve and everyone of us will be able to withdraw his or her money.

Approximately a year ago they suddenly forced their KYC and locked all funds on unverified accounts.
I successfully passed KYC but I remember it as a shittiest KYC that I've ever seen. They required to send scans of my bills (where my name is no included) or documents that do not exist in my country. So the only way for me was to make a new bank account and provide bank contract to Skrill. That was a fucking hell.
806  Other / Off-topic / Re: Russia’s Ruling Party United Russia Launches Blockchain-Based Voting System on: March 08, 2019, 07:42:51 PM
Unfortunately news like this one have zero impact on the crypto community because it is not related to BTC and don't give any volume to cryptocurrencies.

It does not affect bitcoin or the shape of the cryptocurrency market, but it sure improves publicity, if a world power state is using the blockchain in it's voting system. The blockchain technology has many uses not directly related to cryptocurrency, it's about time we started exploring them.

In most countries including russia voting process is private. Only result is public.
There is plenty of ways of using blockchain in the voting process but if with private votes we will publicly see only the amount of votes given for each candidate. In this case you can still cheat with token distribution and some other things. Anyway, you will still be able to buy votes.
With this voting stuff, you have to remain private and get some benefits of blockchain. Which is pretty hard to test on such big country like Russia.
Don't take this news serious.
807  Other / Off-topic / Re: Russia’s Ruling Party United Russia Launches Blockchain-Based Voting System on: March 08, 2019, 05:16:15 PM

Yeah, this is perfect for that Simpsons voting meme.
I might be wrong but I think they have found the perfect way to control the voting process and know who is voting with who.
Anyone who thinks this a better system should think twice, my opinion is that we're witnessing a more centralized and controlled voting system than in the times of Lenin and Hrusciov.

Most of the issues with votes are not really related to centralization of the voting process but more about making a decentralized ecosystem for the country so the government could safely issue a new voting token without having control over the vote distribution and control over user wallets.
Russia is a too big country to test such things because in case someone loses his vote then he won't be able to get it back. While remaining of control in the hands of the government won't change anything and will allow them to cheat.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accounting fro Crypto on: March 08, 2019, 03:46:35 PM

accountants LOVE new currencies. as it means average joe has to do
maths of converting value between currencies for tax calculations, rightoffs etc
understanding which currency laws apply to which currency/jurisdiction
meaning most average joe employ an accountant to do that.

I'm not an accountant but it seems like in most countries governments usually are making new taxes and regulation for crypto faster then they set up some general rules about using crypto. And from my experience, if you are communicating with any tax services then truth will always be on their side and you are the main person that suffers of the lack of clearance in the taxation system.
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin now used to send messages to space on: March 08, 2019, 03:38:31 PM
So is it a service that is sending messages via bitcoin network or separate service that is sending messages by itself, accepts BTC and taking some fees in cryptocurrencies? At the same time there is not much information in the article about how it works and why should I be sure that my messages will go directly to space and not to project devs.
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VISA vs Lightning Network on: March 08, 2019, 09:12:52 AM
LN won't replace visa because visa customers are not using cryptocurrencies and vice versa.

They could use both, and in some cases, ditch one for another. I don't think LN's goal is to replace Visa per se, but to be a better, or at least a workable alternative. That drives adoption.

If what you are saying is absolutely true, then Bitcoin is basically locked to enthusiasts and all we're doing is playing in a sandbox.

If people are not familiar with cryptocurrencies they won't use it. Why should they buy Bitcoin for fiat currency and then buy whatever they need for it when they can just buy what they need for fiat without messing up with anything else?
LN supposed to be a great thing for offline payments but the only existence of such technology won't make anyone to use cryptocurrencies.
811  Other / Off-topic / Re: Russia’s Ruling Party United Russia Launches Blockchain-Based Voting System on: March 08, 2019, 09:06:00 AM
Unfortunately news like this one have zero impact on the crypto community because it is not related to BTC and don't give any volume to cryptocurrencies.
About voting: governmental authorities can still cheat on elections and use blockchain. It will go the same way as it goes with traditional votes.
Meanwhile, in Estonia, everyone is using a centralized online voting system and everything works awesome. Estonian e-government is the best in the world.
So the things that really matters is current political institutions in the country and not what blockchain are they using during elections.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto ‘Won't Turn Out to Be a Complete Delusion' on: March 08, 2019, 08:09:22 AM

neither of these two are considered "U-turn". they both are still on the same path as they were before with the same mentality about bitcoin.
- JP Morgan is threatened by bitcoin because as bitcoin grows, their power shrinks and they can continue their corrupted ways and their revenue is going to be cut short. the only reason why they created their own cryptocurrency is because they are afraid of bitcoin and don't want to be fallen behind.
Bitcoin was not really a big threat to the banking system and the amount of lost profits was low for them. Meanwhile, their loud announcements were made during the crypto hype. And tbh they were right because cryptocurrencies were overpriced.

- Buffet doesn't understand or wants to understand bitcoin, he is old school and believes that only businesses and factories that produce something physical or give some sort of service are worth investing in. which is why he invested in the companies not in bitcoin itself.
His strategy is to buy something underpriced and sell it on the normal price. This is one of the safest way of investing which can be used to invest huge money. If you invest billions into cryptocurrencies then you are probably retarded.
Once again. BTC was overpriced on that time and Buffet was right.
813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be a volatile investment tool and payment method at the same time? on: March 08, 2019, 07:16:59 AM
In case with cryptocurrencies volatility usually goes along with trade volume. For example if your coin have about 1000$ of daily trade volume then if someone sells hit 100$ worth of tokens then he will probably dump the market, what could be way harder if the trade volume was about 100000$.
It can be an investment tool even now. Like gold or fiat currencies but it is still lacking mass adoption to become useful for payments.
814  Economy / Economics / Re: Volkswagen Bets $50 Billion on Electric Future but Tesla Isn’t Sweating on: March 06, 2019, 12:30:27 PM
Tesla is sweating during its entire existence. Elon Musk already admitted that he has made several serious mistakes as a manager. Their shares were always concidered as speculative and risky and the company could get bankrupt many times without governmental support.
Meanwhile, traditional companies like Volkswagen are developing their own cars with way fewer expenses and without getting money from the government.
815  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why does Binance seem to fluctuate more than Coinbase? on: March 06, 2019, 11:29:06 AM
I'm very tempted to say that it has something to do with Binance controlling Tether, but I can't think of any connection lmao. It wasn't always this way, so the most logical answer would be that more people are trading on Binance. This reflects on their trading volume:

Coinbase:
1   Bitcoin Bitcoin   BTC/USD   $36,325,442

Binance:
1   Bitcoin Bitcoin   BTC/USDT   $133,053,911

Source: coinmarketcap.com

As for why that is, everyone else seems to provide a good enough explanation, but everything is really just conjecture.

Coinbase is commonly used just when users are willing to buy or sell their BTC on a single transaction while on Binance there are more people speculating on rate changes. In this case with their money, they usually perform more than one transaction. Total volume can be high without trading much coins.
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Sponsorship in the Sports World on: March 06, 2019, 11:20:39 AM
Looking backward on those ICOs and other projects, endorsed by famous actors / sportsmen and other kinds of celebrities in most cases were shady. It feels like someone just had decent contacts with celebrity managers and decided to get rise some easy money.
The only safe usage of cryptocurrencies related to sports, for now, is betting.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Trader Brutally Tortured on: March 06, 2019, 11:14:15 AM
No matter how secure is your wallet. If someone knows that you own some big amount of money then you won't be so resilient to physical violence. If some of you will get big amount of BTC then don't be greedy / stupid and use a good bitcoin mixer.

My advice for Americans and those where it's legal to do so is to arm yourself and always have your gun handy in case violent intruders enter your property. In Europe, perhaps there are other safeguards. What happened in the Netherlands is a great example of why gun ownership should be allowed among the general public.

Even a gun won't be that useful when someone performs a planned attack when you are not expecting it.
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “Cryptos” - A new tv show about cryptocurrency on: March 05, 2019, 06:54:58 PM
I bet you didn't even bother to open the given link. The storyline says the overall plot of the show which seems decent to me.
I can't predict if the show will go good or bad but reading the storyline tells me that the show can go pretty well or will at least receive good support from the crypto community if cryptocurrencies are portrayed in a positive way in the show. Anyway, since it is still in the development stage I just hope that the show comes live some day and should not screw up somewhere just to end up not being telecasted on TV.

Emm, I did. And that is one of the reasons why I think it will fail.
The story seems to be taken from one of the hundreds of ICOs. And most of them are way overrated. The idea of the decentralized film studio and movie token seems stupid and uncompetitive in the real world.
In this movie we will see a compilation of cliches about cryptocurrencies and ICOs. Already now it seems hackneyed and I can only imagine how it will look in some years after the movie comes out.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VISA vs Lightning Network on: March 05, 2019, 01:33:00 PM

  • 1) Install a decent desktop wallet on their pc

It becomes a bit more complicated if you are making an offline payment.
If you are buying something online then the transaction time even now is not a really big deal. The other problem is that in the shop you have to pay and go.

  • 2) fund their desktop wallet with a couple hundred bucks worth of BTC

That will be hard if your customer is not using BTC. THen you will have to convince him that he need to use it.

LN won't replace visa because visa customers are not using cryptocurrencies and vice versa.
820  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptocurrency Trading Platforms for Small Starting Capital on: March 05, 2019, 12:25:11 PM
Generally, you can use any exchange. Just pick one with a good volume and other things like KYC etc. You can choose one from the CMC list.
150-300$ is not really a bad start in crypto. You should also pay attention to the funding method because not all exchanges accept bank transfers (ofc if you are going to use it) and many other specific things.
