801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: History revisited: the first Bitcoin conference 2011 on: April 30, 2023, 03:31:22 AM
Its wild to see how far its come!!! The BTC conference only gets better year after year in my experience. Although I have only been to two of them 21 and 22. Both were amazing! I can't wait for 23.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An RV vehicle, BTC and the open world to explore. on: April 30, 2023, 03:29:14 AM
I think that lifestyle could definitely be fun, but also perhaps lonely. If you're a lone wolf or you got your significant other or a friend/s doing this with you that you enjoy their company I could see every day being a new adventure. As far as utilizing BTC for this, if it were me i'd probably get that BitPay card so I could have some form of payment option. Obviously internet would be a must, kind of ironic though isn't it. Getting off grid just to get back on it in a wireless fashion haha. Kind of counter intuitive. Anyways, yeah i'd definitely get like a cradlepoint or some 5G router with dual SIMs/ a satelite phone and a really dope radio. Other than that a suited up RV and enough BTC to get you through would make for an epic movie plot, wouldn't it? Even more epic lifestyle I would have to say. I would LOVE to do something like this in the future. RVs have always been something i've had my eye on down the road (Pun intended).
803  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Free Satoshis? BTC "Faucet" In 2023 on: April 29, 2023, 07:25:16 PM
I honestly really like that BTC Mag is doing these kinds of promotion deals to be paid in SATs for some light reading work. Not too shabby. Definitely useful for everyone, free sats are free sats ,and I don't have a lot so I think I may have to take you up on this offer hahaha
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any Bitcoiners here who are living offgrid? on: April 29, 2023, 07:22:47 PM
I'm coming up to 81, and I'm a Bitcoin maximalist. I've rejected most of the current and other controls that try to restrict my lifestyle. I'm now living in a converted van, and I love the freedom. I'm considering a Raspberry Pi based installation to manage my Bitcoin node, and maybe do a bit of mining. Although I'm living primarily offgrid, I'm still a member of conventional society, and utilise thosed facilities that are useful to me. I'm monitoring the current banking changes, and hoping to increase my use of Bitcoin.
So, is there anyone else here that is questioning the current political and banking changes, and moving to an independent offgrid lifestyle?

Wow man that must be a fun lifestyle, I was recently talking to a guy who does what you do, but also has a sailboat and he goes between the doc to the van and moves around wherever he wants to go. I met him at the boat show in West Palm Beach about a month ago or less. What are your main struggles with that lifestyle, just curious. What would you say is your favorite part about it? What do you enjoy doing the most?

Also, do you utilize solar to power your bitcoin node? Way to be off grid, I don't think a lot of people can say that. Did you also say that you're 81 years of age?!
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adopt Bitcoin or keep Experiencing same Challenges with Banks on: April 29, 2023, 07:01:31 PM

https://twitter.com/BitcoinMagazine/status/1651979784555986948?t=CpgXrTvClaIShFGipwOrJQ&s=19

Another reason to think twice about using banks or any centralized institution to have our asset in custody, exercise control over them, denied us from having access to our assets, leak our private information and take down all our hard earned labour earnings we have secured with them or take advantage of a decentralized network with your investment in bitcoin and have full control over your financial assets.

Now that the bank is at the verge of going down completely due to a sudden withdrawal of it investors, this gives more closer attention to using a traditional fiat system and embrace the new era of digital currency with bitcoin, such a decentralized network is what people feels more secured because you can have full control over your financial lives, investing in banks is no more an interesting thing to do than taking a big risk on investment having several recent examples of centralized institutions going down.

Bitcoin is the freedom currency! CBDCs are coming though and that will throw a wrench into things I think. Bitcoin will prove to be more important as the years pass and more and more people awake to what the fractional reserve banking system really is. We're watching it LIVE right now. I think much of this 'awakening' was surely brought on by FTX, maybe gave people the nudge they needed. And of course the even bigger nudge were the first 3 bank fall outs this year, this will be the 4th? or maybe the 5th? Shoot I've lost count!!! LOL
806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keeping up with Bitcoin News- Credible Sources Needed To Save Time on: April 29, 2023, 06:56:32 PM
https://cryptopanic.com

Here you go. This is a website that gathers all of the news in a single place. All the famous crypto twitter people are there too, and all the news website of crypto is in there and many other stuff, you can check the prices and movements as well for certain coins. Basically one stop shop for everything you may need. Ther are also "latest" news parts and the trending ones as well, that way you get to see which ones are getting more attention, there are so many useless news so checking only the latest would not give you anything, you may miss the important ones but if you check the trending ones then you will be able to actually make some profit from it if you know the trending information. I personally used this since it started, great advantage when you are investing.

I'll have to check this out, sounds very interesting. That is pretty much exactly what i'm looking for. Do they also have a social media page?
807  Economy / Collectibles / Re: SALE Caribbean Treasures 125,000 Satoshi Copper Bar on: April 29, 2023, 03:37:31 PM
These look cool! How much are the silver prototypes going to run you? I hope I won't have to walk the plank to get one!!! Hahahahha

Great quality on these copper bars, I wonder what type of machinery you're using to develop these?

Thanks! The silver prototypes aren't available anymore. We'll at least not through me. Some people bought multiples and may sell one.

Haha I haven't had anyone walk the plank yet, but that does sound like a fun jungle swimhole party.

I'd like to move into a direction of crudely made pieces...not in quality, but in style. Like it was made long ago or at the mouth of a gold mine using only fire and hammers. Maybe people wouldn't be afraid to handle them and have them as pocket pieces to show others. 🤔  silver pieces that don't leave finger prints when you touch it.....so maybe an antique matte finish with no proofing. We shall see.

These copper bars are nice though. Almost to nice and they make you want to put them in a case and not touch them.  Grin

Bummer I missed out on that! I actually may be able to give you some pointers on how to make your own COBs. I've made some out of silver before its not too difficult with the right tools. I think you're onto something there m8, it really fits your theme too. Having the feel of a genuine shipwrecked silver piece or x marks the spot buried treasure. Not the same style of an 8 reale i'm guessing or gold escudo but something with the antiqued finish that you can hold would be a great change up from the plastic coin cases we are utterly scared of even opening in fear of ruining or damaging any coins. Haha.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I may sound really stupid right now, but it's what I noticed on: April 29, 2023, 03:31:35 PM
I am convinced that governments will eventually embrace all crypto, that is, after they have created their own digital dollars and have the new system implemented. They have to be able to move onto the next digital frontier and I think that they understand that if they are last to jump in the race you lose! They will always alter the news one way or the other, whatever works best for their interests. Bitcoin definitely doesn't have any governments best interest so they will always try and suppress the truth. You just have to sort through the BS with some truth vision googles.  Cool
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Keeping up with Bitcoin News- Credible Sources Needed To Save Time on: April 29, 2023, 03:26:56 PM
What are your top sites where you get your Bitcoin/Crypto news from? Lets just start right off the bat here, only drop links that come from credible sources.

But I am interested to know where do you go to get all the most recent, accurate, and fortifying Bitcoin information from news outlets online? shoot even tabloids and newspaper programs i don't care where the info comes from, a magazine? Anything you think is worth sharing.

Also, I am curious how much time you spend on any given week searching the web for information on current events, future events, news, research, etc on crypto related information.

I'm really looking forward to the feedback on this one. In addition to news sources, feel free to just post any other crypto related sources for readily available information such as countdowns to crypto related events, crypto games, crypto charts, etc etc.

Cheers,

810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The America and the Crypto - Getting on wrong foot on: April 29, 2023, 03:20:45 PM
I mean honestly how many times has crypto or bitcoin been declared dead in general? Its completely ridiculous to say that it is completely dead in the US. Of course there is going to be a crack down on regulatory and a framework will be in place, as it has been in place on any asset class in the world. There has to be some regulatory framework. I think ultimately the CBDC will be a very large part of this framework and operate as the new USD eventually and I rue the day this happens. Its happening in Asia right before our very eyes with China and South Korea already paying employees in the Government CBDC Yuan and Russia is going to issue their CBDC before the end of 2023 apparently. BRICS will follow suit and before you know it every government in the world will start running their own CBDC train. I imagine that it could even be nearly implemented, in theory (at least the CBDC trials) by the time Bitcoin Halves, perhaps.
811  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Stacks Bowers at Bitcoin Conference on: April 29, 2023, 03:04:02 PM
I just wanted to add this link in here to their website with the announcement: https://stacksbowers.com/sbpressreleases/stacks-bowers-galleries-to-attend-bitcoin-2023-conference-in-miami-beach/

Pretty cool they are accepting consignments, anyone here can bring their precious casascius coins or other popular cryptos to be auctioned and make some $$$  Cool also they are bringing some amazing gold coins for showcase. The Stella was only given to members of congress and there are less than 500 ever made. The 1907 St. Gaudens is an amazing piece and the last time that same coin was auctioned it fetched 37k  Shocked

Here was a snip from the link: "Stack’s Bowers Galleries has emerged as the leader in physical cryptocurrency auctions; since their first offering in November 2021 the firm has sold nearly $3 million in this category. At the 2023 Conference in Miami, Stack’s Bowers Galleries looks forward to engaging with Bitcoin enthusiasts about the firm’s physical crypto auctions and introducing this community to more traditional numismatics, including rare coins and paper money.

Representing Stack’s Bowers Galleries in Miami will be James McCartney, Director of Consignments and Physical Cryptocurrency, and Wayne Berkley, Vice President of Client Services. Conference attendees will be able preview auction highlights at the firm’s kiosk and register to bid in upcoming auctions, including their June 2023 Showcase Auction. The June sale will be highlighted by important Bitcoin rarities including a silver 2013 Casascius “Gold Rim” 1 Bitcoin and a silver 2013 Lealana “Gold B” 1 Bitcoin, both graded Proof-69 Deep Cameo by PCGS. The June auction also features significant rarities among traditional numismatics including a legendary 1879 Four-Dollar Gold Stella graded Proof-61 by PCGS and a captivating (1907) Saint-Gaudens High Relief Double Eagle graded MS-65 by PCGS.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries will be accepting pre-approved auction consignments at the conference, including collections of physical cryptocurrency and traditional rare coins. To arrange a meeting with Stack’s Bowers Galleries at the Bitcoin 2023 Conference or for general questions about the firm’s physical cryptocurrency auctions, email Consign@StacksBowers.com or call (800) 566-2580."
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: acquired btcusa.com registered 13yrs before bitcoin back in 1996! 🤯🤯🤯 on: April 29, 2023, 05:11:41 AM
Btcusa.com could well serve as an exchange platform for USA citizens, we all know that USA is a very strict country in terms of regulations and all that, most especially for cryptocurrencies, but if coinbase can do it, plus a host of others including binance.us, then you can too, and if you are able to pull this off, trust me, btcusa.com could really become a big crypto currency exchange, one that could compete with other big shots in the industry, no doubt, this is an investment that would require alot of money, but trust me, it will be worth it...
This is what I think, what ever your decision is by the end of the day, good luck to you friend.

What a great domain name, SCORE! I think you could have a bright future here with this like a 3 month vacations all expenses paid on a tropical island kind of pay check you feel me? I'll tell you a funny story, a co worker of mine also spent some time in the domain business. He found a domain called gotahoe.com and was trying to buy it on the phone with the guy getting the story of how he acquired this domain. It turns out that he was the coach for a team in Tahoe and he meant it to be the landing page for "Go Tahoe!" like go team but with the team name hahahahaha Not for getting any hoes, not even getting one hoe hehe. Anyways it just cracked me up so I thought I would share this here. Also bitcoin rules.
813  Economy / Collectibles / Re: yogg sweepping again - Playtoshi edition on: April 29, 2023, 05:04:40 AM
What a motherfucker! So he possibly held onto all the Private keys of all his creations!

Everyone should have swept all their items by now and not take any chances!

I swept all except for the bonds as I am still awaiting the locktime date to arrive...But will check them now and see if he swept mine!

What a piece of shit man!

Of course he kept them all, IMO if he kept one he kept all of them. The crypto bonds were to me the biggest red flag. Locking up the bitcoin for x amount of years would give anyone PLENTY of time to get right into their back door and run a clean sweep on the funds. Patrick is a con artist for sure. He managed to fool everyone here, it really is a shame he had to go on and do that. His collectibles were truly a form of art. Now they are just one big cold key sham. We still have the memories though, right? lol. Gotta make some positive out of all this.
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It Won't Be Long. on: April 29, 2023, 04:29:52 AM
Have you bought btc to HODL and wonder when it will rise to a point where your life will be changed financially?
Are you a newbie like me and everytime you log in to the group the best you do is to read and wonder when you'll understand the system and grow?
Have you made investments and it seems stagnant not knowing whether to pull out or hold on a little?
I want to tell you that it won't be long and you'll smile soon. just do the following
1. Be patient and keep learning (whether newbie or guru)
2. Be consistent and be willing to ask questions where confused
3. Always be optimistic and put in your best effort
4. Remove fear, buy when it's best for you and hold as if you don't care
5. Avoid listening and reading wrong informations from Bitcoin haters.

One of the things I have learnt on this platform is to learn, make research more than comment And i have learnt a lot and still learning and opened to learning
Be encouraged btc will make us smile...

These are all great points and traits of Bitcoiners to possess. All investments pose a risk. Its like fishing. You're never guaranteed to catch the fish, but what you are guaranteed is the experience of getting out on the water, casting you line out and making a real effort to catch that fish. In order to catch fish you have to put yourself in the position to catch that fish!!!
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will never own a whole Bitcoin and that's okay on: April 29, 2023, 04:26:44 AM
I signed up on this forum in 2014 with minimal knowledge of cryptocurrencies and a restricted ability to comprehend their concept. Being a young teenager, you'll understand. On top of that, I had no way of acquiring it myself. Thus, I missed the opportunity to buy at ridiculously low prices (compared to today's). I gave up shortly after and reappeared on the forum in 2017 for about a year or two at most, abandoning it again and kicking some great opportunities once again.

I've seen an increasing trend over the past few months, mostly from newer BTT users striving to acquire as much Bitcoin as possible as soon as possible. Some even claim to sell their jewelry or other personal belongings in an attempt to acquire more capital to use towards a Bitcoin purchase. Other newbies claim that they found wallets filled with Bitcoin in the early stages, in an attempt to impress others, while a few days ago they'd be asking how to sign up on Binance or whatever. It's unclear whether any of these stories are true, but that's not the point.

The majority of us missed the boat when Bitcoin was cheap, and now acquiring a whole coin isn't affordable anymore. The average wage in Greece is approximately €800 (about €10,000 per year), while Bitcoin's price is at $27,500 as we speak (about €25,000), which means that I will need 2.5 years to acquire the requested amount of money, in the condition of not spending a single Euro, without taking into account any price increases. Thus, purchasing a whole coin would effectively require up to 6 or even 7 years for the average person in Greece.

I currently have less than 0.20 BTC, which is still a semi-decent amount for myself, the majority of which are from signature campaigns (huge thanks to Cryptobrainboss and Hampuzz for having me in their campaigns), and I'm totally okay with the idea of never owning a single Bitcoin; it's not the end of the world. So far, I'm earning an important side income through it, while spending time on the forum is like a hobby of mine now. This is what matters most to me.

To summarize, my point is that many of us won't become rich or earn a great deal of money through Bitcoin, but that's okay; money isn't the greatest goal in life. We missed the early stages, but that doesn't mean that we don't have a chance in the future. There's no need to regret anything, coming from someone who was here during the first years and missed the boat. It's completely unnecessary to stress over how to acquire more and go above and beyond by selling stuff or exceeding the budget you can afford. Stick to what you can afford to spend and stick to that plan; don't go to extreme measures; and remember, there are no guarantees in investments.

Oh geeze do I feel this post. Hang in there fam. This is a real toughie. I can personally say that I dropped the ball in owning 250 Bitcoins I had the chance to acquire in 2010 for $20. One day you CAN own one who BITCOIN. Shoot, you can own 100 BITCOIN! You limit yourself in the belief in yourself to change your circumstances, don't underestimate yourself! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO!
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What went wrong with bitcoin! Reply on: April 29, 2023, 04:21:32 AM
I caught two persons arguing this morning that led to this post, one on the other hand says this person introduced me to bitcoin July 2022 while i was doing my normal buying and selling of yam and palm oil, quoting him; my business of selling yam was doing good, I buy yam in bags with palm oil and I have a store where I normally distribute it to customers, before he came with his ideas of buying and storing bitcoin and since then I have not gotten shishi, all my money has gone and am asking him to explains what went wrong? What happen to my money or bitcoin? Why is it only eating and not vomiting?

My reply, sir generally the market is down not only to you but everybody, just exercise patients because even myself can not explains to you why the price is not going up, I guess this is as a result of low demands and supply's chain of distribution of bitcoin that has affect the market but don't panic am sure you will recover your money when the market rise soon, but how soon he ask? I said the market is rising slowly already.

The argument ends but I want to draw this lesson to everyone;
1. When introducing crypto to anyone let them know you're not responsible for anything contrary.
2. Tell them you don't control the price, the system does.
3. You're not liable to any losses
4. The person should make good decision before joining
5. Don't collect money from the person to trade or invest for them. Them should do it themselves.
6. Don't tells the person when to withdrew his or her, they should chose went to.
7. No promises for anybody joining cryptosystem is a free market.

These are all great points. I like your hustle on the palm oil and the yams btw. I think that is just so awesome, you work hard for your money. I like to call that singing for your supper. Anyways I absolutely agree with points 1-7 and I would like to add that you should only give advice when it is asked of you, or if you generally can't refrain from telling someone something because you whole heartedly feel that it will help them make an advancement in some way and you're trying to help them then I feel you shouldn't hold your tongue. Bitcoin is going to go up and it will go back down. Right now all you need to do is HOLD.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance sees a large uptick in the amount of BTC held on their exchange on: April 29, 2023, 04:12:16 AM

I still believe that investors will at least consider Bitcoin as a viable option for long term investment because it has been performing up to the expectations of many investors and they might be speculating the price of Bitcoin for now to take some bold decisions later on. But, I'm hopeful that soon those investors will put their money into it as their confidence increases on it, until then I don't see huge investments coming to Bitcoin as of now.
[/quote]

I agree 100%, investors can't ignore the charts and the long term growth percentage rates of Bitcoin. With time these charts will only begin to look so much better to consumers and investors alike and so many anti bitcoin folk will have to eat their words and realize that they can't find anything more secure and advantageous to their own financial well being than owning bitcoin and being in full control of your own private bank.
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Couldn't he have thought of something better than a Cheetos tin? LMAO on: April 28, 2023, 06:10:45 PM
I hadn't heard anything about this story--but then again, my grasp of crypto news has always been a little weak, so thanks for posting this, tread93.

At the time he kept it there that must have been his best choice and also it did save him from getting caught for ten years so I'd say the Cheetos tin did his job well.
Man, I didn't even know Cheetos came in a can!  I've been gobbling them down out of those stupid bags that never seem to open right.  But you're right, and in the end since he buried his illicit bitcoin stash underground it really doesn't matter what kind of canister he put them in (though something non-magnetic might have been a better choice, like a sealed Cheetos bag).

The feds may or may not have all things crypto under the microscope, but this Cheetos-eating bitcoin-stealer did, in fact, steal a hell of a lot of money.  If he'd stolen cash and buried it, I would hope the same action would have been taken.  Going after thieves is something law enforcement should do, as long as there's good reason for them to believe something was stolen and they don't abuse their powers of surveillance and everything else.

By the way:  The Flamin' Hot variety of Cheetos suck ass.  If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and don't try them.

Edit:  And boy, if ever there was a need for someone to use a mixer, this would be the case--and yet our junk food boy didn't.  Amazing, right?

Hey man! happy to spread the random bitcoin related news lmao. Good one Chem lol that comment on how bad the flaming hot cheetos are, I honestly would have to agree. At least get some Takis !! but even those aren't even that great IMO. This guy had it coming to him, he had terrible avoidance measures for not getting caught by the FEDs too lol. Surely if you're going to try and pull off a stunt like this you would put a little more thought into it, but honestly if you're not doing anything wrong then theres no reason to be running from the FEDs! So do the right thing folks Cheesy  Crypto mixer might have definitely helped him tho ngl lol

Wow great work on the videos and on this list, this is a great reference thread for newbs looking to get a better grasp on these crypto collectibles. I will have to forward this along to some of the no coiner folks!
820  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Stacks Bowers at Bitcoin Conference on: April 28, 2023, 06:00:50 PM
Gang,

I exchanged a couple of emails with James McCartney with Stacks Bowers and they are going to attend the Bitcoin Conference in Miami this year. If anyone has been curious about selling coins in future auctions or if you are just curious to meet them and hear how they think about the future of physical bitcoins, feel free to reach out and plan a way to meet up. James can be reached at jmccartney@stacksbowers.com.

I'm not shilling anything here. I just follow them a lot since I think public auction action is a good way to gauge the real potential of these collectibles being mainstream. I think the Stacks Bowers auctions in tandem with PCGS leaning into grading physical bitcoins are positive.

Steeley

This is epic! I can't wait to meet James. I'm definitely going to be stopping by their booth. They're getting a booth right? These collectibles are currently behind these industry drivers! They're absolutely crushing sales and generating new demand and market growth in this space, more so than anyone currently focusing on this niche market, IMO.
