OK time to chime in my 2 cents. And please I know I have a low post count but I am not that asshole so dont confuse that. Ive been following this thread for the last 150 pages daily because I have a nice stake in MINT and I believe in the coin. As for the price drops and the FUD these idiots are spreading its ridiculous. This is a great oppurtunity! yes some whales are holding the prices in certain ranges, that is blatantly obvious by the barriers that keep getting set up and removed all damn day as the price moves around but do you know what that means? PROFIT! All i have been doing for the last 4-5 days with MINT almost 16 hours of the day is buying 1 mill at the low of the swing and selling back 30 mins later for 5 satoshis more! rinse repeat! Stop worrying people the coin itself as well is very promising and will go up and is a innovative new idea in this slag of copycat clones and scamcoins. As for the devs premining...who gives a fuck let them make their money its their coin after all. Thanks for reading and stop trippin people just kick back and stay minty fresh Smiley Ill respond again in another 50 pages of ridiculousness. SSRC out!

Alright, see you in a few hours then, LoL

Mint came from 68 satoshis to 19 now.

I think you need to go study some older Crypto coin charts from coins that have been around 6 plus months.

Sell your Mint to me as this coin is for long term. I think you should stick to pump and dump crypto currency.

Well I also think that this coin is very undervalued at the moment, it can't get any more worse than this so ill keep them. I have hopes for 3 digit satoshi prices for this coin.

My recommendation is to acquire some more BTC and sit on the sidelines and wait for another opportunity to buy more.  Then you can average your buying price.

So if you bought 1 BTC at 40 satoshi and 1 BTC at 20 Satoshi, your average price is 30 Satoshi.

Or you can average 10 Sat and 40 sat and you get 25, a see what I'm saying?  Just be ready to buy more as this coin is a long-term hold and not a short-term gain for sure.

It really looks like mint is dying IMO.

Like I said dude,

Just sell your coins and get out if you can't handle the ride.

the trading  value has died aswell. It came from 1,2 million dollars a day to a measly 80000 now.

Hmm...

I can tell you one thing, the moment you sell the price will go up... Wink

But really.  Volumes are not critical at the moment.  Volumes will continue to go up as the coin gains mass adoption.

Low volumes are not always a bad thing, as lots of micro-transactions are indicative that many people are taking a stake in the coin.

Volumes are still very high... still the 6th highest on Cryptsy

Not just whales buying and selling.

The coin has definitely been through its' initial pump period.  I highly doubt people will dump their coins at this price considering there is not much time to accumulate them anymore.

You seem like you are not sure and are not being patient enough to realize.

It might be best for you to liquidate your holdings and watch from the side-lines if you are nervous.

Can someone explain to me what will happen when the pure PoS is going to happen? I understand the idea I'm wondering about the state of the coin.
With no mining the only way to start minting is by trading which imo would drastacly reduce the coin growth. On top of that everyone would save their coins, none spending which means it will be less likely to see people adding mint to their services. Or am I wrong?

Yes you are wrong.

First of all, couldn't the same thing be said about NXT?

And yet people trade it and use it and perform "forging".

The problem with NXT was that it was not distributed through a mining process and on exchanges immediately, instead the original 73 investors who bought their coins before anyone else had a chance got to distribute it.

Mintcoin allowed anyone who wanted to mine it start mining, and then sell those coins on a exchange for very low prices.  These ultra-low prices allowed a lot of people to get in early and put the coins in their wallet.  Most of them have sold their coins at higher prices and now more people can mint.

I am pretty tired right now so I don't feel like explaining it all, but just imagine how you would build a network of people if you wanted to make a coin that would last.

Would you rely upon only miners?  Or would you want coin-holders to be able to "mint" or mine coins without needing special hardware? This secures the network without requiring tons of electricity and miners that can create headaches through pool monopolization!

Mintcoin offers a really great distribution mechanism and a great interest generating process that will allow the coin to become well-distributed in a 4 year period, rather than distributed all at once, or distributed over such a long-time that only miners are really rewarded

When i opened my wallet yesterday I was getting new Mint from minting every 20-30 min up until around 10am this morning then it stopped.  Is this normal?  My wallet is still super slow and making my pc unusable for anything else.  This started around 8 am today.  If Im done minting I guess I can close the wallet and actually use my pc again.  I cant believe Im the only person with this issue.

You might close your wallet for a while and reopen it later.  You don't have to leave the wallet running to keep your coindays.

I am running a client always with just a few coins in it to verify transactions and act as a peer in the network, but I keep my main wallet offline.

Strange, were you mining on day 1-3?

I had been opening my wallet over the past few days wondering where my minting was, but I had only opened my wallet for around 5-10 mins at a time. It seems like you need to keep it open for a while for it to work, but I have no idea why yours has not shown if you have been holding since day 1-3.
I was mining from day 1

You might make another wallet on another computer if you can for your mining deposits for now, and leave your other wallet unlocked and don't put any more coins in there for a while.

Hopefully there will be an updated wallet out in week that you can move your wallet.dat file over to and update the blockchain, which should not affect your coindays.

When do you guys think a mint-usd market is formed?

We can have it any time, this is just a question of price. If the community wants to pay to get it sooner, it's up to you guys!

How much? Lets see if we can get some donations going if it's not too costly.

We won't disclose the price, but if the community gives 5M Mint, we will happily pay for the rest. (This is at the current price, of course, if the price goes up, less is needed) Remember, we don't ask for anything regarding that, it's just up to you, and the more you give the faster it will happen, because we may choose to pay with less than that.

I know you guys are doing an awesome job at managing this coin but you guys premined for a reason right? Why don't just spend a measly 5 million out of your massive 700 million premine for such an important thing. Mintcoins would become independent from Bitcoin once we have a Mint/USD exchange. Try to explain why the community has to pay for this?

I have been posting repeatedly in this topic that the dev needs to give us a transparent list on what the pre-mined funds have been spent on.

So far only 1 million of the 699 million MINT has been accounted for.

I'm guessing since the dev says 5 million MINT is needed for a mint-usd market that most of that 699 million MINT was dumped for BTC. I think that's a fair assumption.

No, the dev said that 5 million coins donate would help.

You are mis-reading what he wrote.

Settle the fuck down

No offense, I am here since day one, but you've got the 700 million MINT premine exactly for things like this. To ask the community for 5 million is really strange. I know you have given a lot to the extended dev team and other people, but you refuse to tell us how much the people got and how much of the premine has been spent.

Given the fact that the 1% premine is effectively something around 3-5% premine if you consider minting/PoS, this is really shaking anyones trust in this coin.

Read with your finger, we don't ask for anything

Cheers

Here's my problem:  Minting only works for me if my wallet is open.  I get new Mint every 20 min or so.  If I close the wallet for a day, I get nothing for the time it was off.  I thought the wallet could just be opened occasionally, but it doesn't work for me.

If the wallet is open, it runs really slow, constantly hangs, and makes my pc so slow I can't use it for anything else.  Apparently I'm the only person this is happening to.  It's probably something on my end.

Anyone else seeing this?  The wallet has worked fine since launch.  I've upgraded, uninstalled, re-installed.  This started when minting started.

I have not experienced this yet, because I have not started minting.

Can you post your experiences also on the www.mintcointalk.com forums as well, this would be helpful to the devs

He said he is not asking, but if the community can donate 5M it will speed up the process.  I think there was some mis-communication.

Can you make a sticky post on the mintcointalk.com with a donation address for a USD/MINT market

These are just some ideas that modify your logos a little, I am not a graphic designer but I have some aesthetic sense.

I don't want to cut my losses and bail at this point, and I don't want to be a bagholder if this ship goes down. Bought in at 40.

Such a sad time for investors  Cry Cry Cry

I would have to agree with others that taking a loss is exactly what day-traders want you to do.  They make money when you lose it.  You have not lost money until you sell your Mints.  You will realize your losses if you sell them and the price goes back up.  That is even more frustrating.

Over the past couple of pages in this thread, I've seen it mentioned that Mintcoin needs a new logo.

I think just calling it "Mint" is more appealing that calling it Mintcoin, kind of like how NXT is just NXT and not NxtCoin.

+1 I think it would be good for Mint to distinguish itself from the whole coin thing.

+1

Just call it Mint

I am 14 years old and I own around 10 million coins. Would you guys think that I should wait for a few weeks or just sell now and take my loss?

I personally would put those coins in a wallet and forget about them for a few weeks, at least they will be eligible for minting.

But, I can afford to lose money.

If you don't need the money, then why not just stash them away?  You will be earning interest on them soon.

I would not recommend cutting and running at this point!

Sold my mint at 50 the other day but think I may buy back in with these low prices. What to do what to do

Do you not believe in the coin or was this part of your plan? If you read the markets correctly then well done, but I can't see it going lower than it is now. Maybe by 5 satoshi or so, but not much lower than now.

Honestly? I don't know if it's possible to believe in an altcoin right now? I sold my MINT because I'm new to this whole cryptoworld and it was my first whole BTC lol so I couldnt resist selling. I mean we are all in this to make a profit correct? I do like the coin and I like how there's an active community behind it but from what I've seen in the cryptoworld is the majority of people just pump and dump altcoins for a quick profit and move on to the next one. Not sure what I believe will happen once POW is over I hope the coin succeeds but only time will tell.

That's awesome that you made a profit.  Congratulations.

But you should be grateful to the community and reinvest some of your BTC in Mintcoin and tip some folks.

I guarantee you won't always have successful trades like that.

I personally am in this to learn.  I have lost some money and made some money.  I don't make a living in altcoins so this is really just about having fun for me!

David,

The Contrast between Green and White is too much.

Fill in the background with silver/ light grey and the logo looks much better

I edited it with a couple ideas,

PM me your email address and I will send it to you
