Do you use ip addresses to guesstimate the wallet totals? Can you guesstimate how many people have a darkcoin wallet at this point?

Hi N00b, was wondering how your paper wallet fork is doing? Are they going to put it on the main site anytime soonish?
Hey TS. I have no idea. I was offered a 5DRK tip for the work, but the tipbot on Reddit seemed to be broken at the time so I didn't get it, and I've heard nothing about it since. The creator of bitcoinpaperwallet hasn't answered any of the pull requests to add new coins either, so I'm a little disheartened given all the work I put into it. Oh man, that sucks ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Did the guy lose interest or is he ignoring other alts? BTW everyone, this is another paper wallet that n00b made, and it's pretty cool too: https://github.com/n00bsys0p/bitcoinpaperwalletI made a tutorial on how to use it here: https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-make-a-darkcoin-paper-wallet.116/It's fancy and looks nice if you want to give a paper wallet away (like me to my nephews) When I wrote that, I forgot to write in your tip account, I'm gonna put that in now ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

DarkCoin is unique in the since that it has a variable block reward that is based on difficulty. This means that while currently the block reward is 120, when difficulty rises the block reward will fall. Eventually the block reward will be driven down to it's lowest amount which is 15DRK. After that, every 2 years the block reward is halved again. So in 2 years, 7.5DRK, in 4 years, 3.75DRK, etc.
Actually, this all changed now. People wanted a hard or harder set limit of coins. It's on the first page how it's set now, with 7% drop in rewards every year.

Yup it's funny how altcoins that use Evan's innovations don't give credit. Darkcoin has the best developer ever! LOL (I'm a shameless cheerleader)

Maybe someone could explain why, when mining with the GPU only, the hash rate is abou 880-900 khash, and when I add the CPU mining I see the GPU rate drop to 810-820 khash? If I close minerd, the GPU jumps back to original hash rate in a few seconds
I leave one cpu free (don't use all of them) and run both cpu and gpu on a machine, and seem to get good hash rates for my extremely low end boxes. But it could be that for higher end cards, they need more cpu? I don't know. On the machine I'm typing on, I'm only using 2/4 and have low intensity on the gpu so the computer is usable.

not gonna quote this dipshit
Just so you know, and not making a fool of yourself with your ignorance of the situation, there are quite a few ex-CPU coins out there that are currently having GPU mining precisely because sph-sgminer was developed for DRK, in part by code by Evan (Darkcoins creator) and phm (the man accepting a >3000 DRK bounty to complete the opencl implentation). The bounty was paid so that a GPU mining could be made public and not be kept selfishly by any party that could rape a coin. After the creation of Darkcoin's GPU miner (mid February) that covered 11 algorithms, it was just a matter of time (weeks) to expand its functionality to cover the other cpu coins which used less, but overlapping hashes. Essentially, Darkcoin paid dev costs so that itself and a list of ex-CPU coins can be fairly mined by every GPU user, instead of having a "the crowd is using CPU and a few guys are using GPUs" situation. But will quote Alex, as he wrote this very well and true.

Spread your hash power - why is everybody using SuchPool and Coinmine when P2Pool is still just as profitable for CPUs as GPUs!? n00bsys0p's UK 100Mbit P2Pool nodeBenefits:- Built-in P2Pool node IRC chat
- No need to trust devs. Coins go straight into your wallet.
- Supports decentralisation.
- Up to as high payouts as solo mining
- 0% fees for the next couple of weeks on my node
- Even CPUs can mine here and make just as much
- Running v0.9.1.0 to support hard fork at block 45000
- Good latencies for EU - server based in London and 100Mbit bandwidth
- It doesn't matter if P2Pool gets >50% of network hash - help us avoid a 51% attack!

Several top addresses are likely to be exchanges. Also it's quite clear from cryptsy trades and twitter that some traders are stockpiling.
Oh, good point, I always forget the exchanges, LOL

Brilliant. This was needed for this coin for a long time now as so many questions remained. In this era it is hard to go anywhere when coins have distributions like this Wealth Distribution
Top N addresses Holdings Percentage Top 10 addresses 892,072.4 DRK 23.31 % Top 100 addresses 2,510,244.7 DRK 65.58 %
No wonder prices don't move much in this coin. Nevertheless, the developer is good and the coin is innovative. Edit:: Timestamps are incorrect? I completely agree. I sincerely hope large holders will start selling off soon. The coin needs good distribution to have a future.

Announcing a new block explorer for DarkCoin!
http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/Note that this is completely new tech, not based on ABE or existing explorers. - displays correct addresses - with an X, as they are in the blockchain
![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) - rich list, wealth distribution
- pools/mining extraction watch
- tickers, market cap, difficulty chart & other misc. features
- can display addresses with lots of transactions
Note that this is still beta software, so blockchain interpretation bugs may lurk. XjzXrN9DKff5ZmT3btuw7n4s9cUFY94fs2 Thank you, I really like this one. It shows all the pertinent information and when darksend is available again, we'll be able to see how well it really works. I'll tip you as soon as I get my wallet to compile again, LOL, having trouble...

Go and read his threads... He is the DEV for BUNNYCOIN. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to page 45 of his posts. When he released it he quit his job! People were making fun of him, and the rest of his threads became angry. He is just a little boy who got rejected, and now he`s lashing out. Fucking hilarious! GO AND READ THE THREADS!
OMG, that's the funniest insight!

If mining with GPU and CPU together, should it be advised to have two different workers in place? One for GPU and one for CPU?
I use a different worker for each instance of a miner I have, so ... er... that's 5 workers I got on my pool. Oh, plus my free tier at amazon, LOL, it hardly gives anything!

Another question: is this coin mineable with cpu and gpu? suchpool is a gpu pool? How different are there for cpu and gpu hash? thanks.
Yes Well, it depends on your setup. I have little ol computers. Right now, I have an old Pentium D dual core thing giving me about, maybe, sometimes 112 kh/s on the cpu miner, an amd phenom (sp?) using 3 cores at about 200, another of the same at about 180 and a gpu miner with a 5770 radeon at about 500 and another 5500 giving me about 183. On my pool, it shows up as between 700kh/s to 112 kh/s depending on what's getting accepted when. My equipment is obviously really low end LOL. Hope that helps. I just noticed that the GPU miner is missing from the front page. the cpu miners are on the original post of this thread, and the GPU miner is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.0

well, all I can tell you is that all these wallets, including bitcoin, get the same results. you can have a look at the code, and compile it yourself, but if you get it off the original post here, or wherever eduffield posts the updates, you should be ok. I am not a programmer, so I've put my faith in these guys here, and in our developer, that it's all on the up and up. About Darkcoin, our full time developer is really awesome. he's always coming up with new features and has fantastic plans for this coin. He also listens to us, and asks our opinions. We have an anonymity feature from the wallet that works in beta, but there has been an update with the wallet, and DarkSend wasn't put back into the newest version, I think because he's about to release a newer, more improved version, and didn't bother with the old. I miss it though! I like the feeling of knowing people can't see what I'm doing with my coin ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) anyway, welcome, hope you like it here, we're all pretty nice ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ask questions, we're all happy to answer the best we can. I'm about 2 hours late going to bed though, LOL

Any chance of a DarkCoin spinoff?
I've already secured Dark-dice.com so it doesn't get ransomed.
Ooh, yah, hit me where I can't control myself! LOL, that'd be fun!

What are you on about? This coin started as a CPU only. At the time, the developer had a partially completed GPU miner started and released it with a bounty to finish it. Eventually it was finished and we have several versions, all are linked on the first page.
Who are you and why do you come here with such an attitude? Strange how people just come in on the thread and freak out, geepers!
You forgot the golden rule! WWTSBD? I don't know the golden rule, what does that mean? LOL [edit] wow, that's humongous. Roflmao What Would Tante Stefana Bot Do? LOL Love it! I'm so slow!!

no prob. But what back do you need? Coin or responses? Responses in that thread, so I don't look like the only whackjob clamoring for Dark-Dice ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) ok, I thought you needed a programmer, and I don't know the first thing... LOL

so where is the GPU miner ? are you guys not aware of all the bullshit we have gone through in the last year with other so called cpu only coins ? i guarantee this was setup to hide the gpu miner ..i guarantee one was made at launch and kept private ever since.
this coin was a mod of other cpu only coins that are proven to have private gpu miners so... uhhhhhhhh all these guys did was add a couple more algo's and call it a revolution.. aka: standard coin cloning routine.

Some countries have tried to severely restrict what you can do with bitcoins More precisely, they're tried to severely restrict what you can do with FIAT. (i.e. as far as Bitcoin is concerned, they've tried to prevent FIAT being used to purchase Bitcoin). The only reason they can have any influence over fiat in the first place is because A. they control the money supply and B. fiat is not base money (like cryptos are) and is therefore dependent on counterparties (known as "banks") to manage it on behalf of its holders. They can't do a sodding thing about Bitcoin and haven't restricted it in any way shape or form. That's a good point about fiat. Getting fiat into and out of the system is where they hit bitcoin. True, they can tax your capital gains when you withdraw (so make sure you keep track of what you spent on it) but that's all they can do. At least this part of your portfolio won't be subject to inflation, and hopefully it will become a practical way to pay for things in the future. Lots of growing pains, but this is once again, a new frontier for society. just as the PC changed our world the last 30 years, this will as well ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fimagizer.imageshack.us%2Fv2%2Fxq90%2F834%2F58mt.png&t=663&c=iO_8nhtaI3ClaA)
