801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 16, 2023, 01:43:08 PM
Great play from Liverpool to go top of the table. They were not at full pace for the entirety of the match but once they drew level they totally controlled the tempo of the game and did not give Wolves anyway back into the match.
Wolves will definitely rue the missed chances they had in the first half which would have changed how the game ended.

Round and the EPL is yet to have a goaless draw and looking at the other fixtures in this round I do not expect we will get it this match week.

You do not need a new thread to correct the position you had in a different thread.

It's much neater to make your reply there and if you are unsure if other users will read your reply since it's further down the page, you edit the original post so it can easily be read.

I think it's hidden to non register twitter account but if you login you can find their announcement about this news.
What does this mean?
That they have a private newsletter where it was announced or it was shared on a private twitter account for only users? I think both did not happened and they just did not report the incident as it happened to try and control the situation first.

This is still much later than when it was announced.

804  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why do members switch campaigns always? on: September 15, 2023, 07:18:45 PM
I thought money is not your consideration, so why you are making sure that your post exceeds to your quota? The logic behind is because some threads or replies can get deleted and if we only post 25 per week (most sig campaigns minimum) we can get short and we may not get paid. You also ensure that you are in a reputable campaign manager so that you can always get paid.
None of these you have said indicates that money is the sole purpose of that user posting here. Some people enjoy discussions here and will freely join them with as much free time as they have, being in a signature campaign just means you make up some more free time for yourself and not that you discuss at an unnatural level to fulfill the requirement. Real life activities can many times affect that and influence how active we are on the forum but in the end it is something you plan to make out time for when you apply to help promote a brand.

Making above the maximum, or below it, or exactly it does not alone indicate a user is here just for the payment, what is most important is the quality of the contribution that the user is making.

We always need to be on time to have a better chance of being accepted.
You do not need to apply early to have a better chance, as long as you apply before applications are closed you have an equal chance to be chosen.

805  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Huobi global rebranded name to HTX on: September 13, 2023, 06:00:45 PM
I brought this for people to know about it. Avoid fake URL also becuase I think some scammers like to use a means like this to scam people with google ads or fake link from search engine.
Thank you for updating. Situations like this is what scammers use to take advantage of unsuspecting users who are not yet aware of the change of brand.
Huobi will maintain their domain name as you added so as not to confuse users with such a sudden change, it will be a gradual shift from the current brand to the new one.

806  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This is How to Avoid Plagiarism on: September 13, 2023, 05:51:38 PM
CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism attracts a failing grade, academic withdrawer or degree revocation in an Educational institution. it also brings about loss of credibility and damage of reputation. Plagiarism does not contributes to the advancement of knowledge/understanding and can cause harm.
When writing something like this you have to relate it to the forum for it to be meaningful to readers. The consequence of plagiarism here is a ban on the account, a failing grade is the consequence on an academic setting which is not what this is.

HOW TO REMOVE PLAGIARISM
Paraphrase your text where necessary.
Go through Plagiarism text and rephrase it.
Paraphrasing and rephrasing does not make a stolen content not to be plagiarism.
Two ways to avoid plagiarism:
  • Read the content to understand then write your reply entirely from what you remember, or
  • Copy the content and reference the source with full indication that it is a cited work.

I think my spendable merits will expire soon.
Spendable merits do not expire, or at least there is no feature like that now.

808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much Bitcoin is needed to buy iPhone 15? on: September 13, 2023, 08:13:55 AM
This is the reason why most people are hoarding their coins and using it as an investment option and not as a Currency. Would you spend your bitcoins buying an expensive phone...and after a few years, finding out that it would have been worth 800 times more.. than what it was ..when you bought the phone?
If I really needed the phone and liquidating some bitcoins was the only option to get it at the time, I will not regret it at all; hopefully I still have some in my portfolio and I manage to buy some more later when I got more cash flow.
Bitcoin is primarily used as an investment, but it is okay to also use it as a currency as a daily habit where it is accepted.

It is awesome that club football is returning, international breaks are dreadful most of the times which is a huge contrast to international tournaments. I think I need to fine tune some of my predictions to account for injuries and fatigue for clubs that majority of their players played a huge chunk of the break.

I'm feeling that I will win the white Southampton shirt.
No way, I am not letting that white Southampton shirt without a fight. It is also about time for me to get some more merch from Sportsbet.
Neither of you is getting it without a strong fight. The away kit looks neat.
I expect some surprises this week but cannot predict which club it will be, and I do not think it will the obvious answer of Chelsea due t =o their poor form.

810  Other / Meta / Re: Doubt on "duplicate" response on: September 12, 2023, 07:07:39 PM
I don't understand, how are you breaking rule 12 as according to rule 12
Quote
No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting topics in the local language boards if they're translated and re-posting marketplace topics in the altcoin boards if altcoins are accepted).
Means, that you did not make duplicate posts in multiple boards instead you are making a post on a single thread which is also very old (means, if something is wrong then it should be deleted till now).
As I understand it Poker Player wants to ask the same question they asked in the duplicate thread, in the main thread, and they think that making a replica of their reply in another thread (which has a duplicate) breaks rule 12.

I understand that it looks odd to someone (like a campaign manager) reading their post history from their profile and seeing identical replies but to everyone else it is not an issue at all and will likely go unnoticed.
They can delete the first reply or quote it as LoyceV suggested.

Image has been deleted,
You are learning the first rule of privacy which is to keep your assets private or this will be the second rule, behind keeping your identity private.

The funds you own, where you live, your social medias and IP address are all just personal information, but when put together can be used for malicious activities like targeting you for a scam campaign or cloning your financial self and taking actions that will directly affect you.
Also double check before taking any action cause privacy mistakes cannot be undone.

812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A very strange dust attack or an attempted robbery? on: September 12, 2023, 05:10:47 AM
I'm confused about where they get those thousands of addresses for dust attacks.

Technically, I don't know how this works further with them but I think this wasting of time since we know most people will always double-check transactions before sending or transferring to another address.
There are ways they can do that.

Most people will most of the time double check just the first and last few words, there can still be loopholes which scammers can exploit. Scammers are after the few times where we forget to double check or after those users that do not check at all.

I believe what @albert0bsd means by "block" is to either "freeze" or "hide" these outputs either manually or automatically so that you don't see them when spending from your wallet to avoid such mistakes. For example Electrum has manual output/coin freezing option.
AFAIK some wallets allow one to do this manually after they have already received the dust transaction or any type of transaction that they will not want to be mixed with their other outputs, but I do not know of any automatic way to do this, where an incoming transaction gets automatically frozen based on some preset rules, like:
- less than a certain amount of sats or,
- from a certain address.

This will be a useful but I do not know if it is available now.

813  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Multi-Sig with Hardware Wallets - Problem on: September 12, 2023, 04:57:54 AM
3. Airgapped method can give the triple defense.
Airgapped wallets offer the highest level of protection from any online threat, when you combine that with a hardware wallet, either directly using a device like Passport or manually, you have a fairly high level of protection which cannot be breached.

If lamination poses a problem to anyone with the fear of the words fading, they can have a dual backup in the same location, one written on regular paper and the other written on regular paper but laminated. The laminated one provides the extra security of being protected against tears, wetness and some other hazards and the other backup protects your fear of it fading.

I have laminated documents for several years that have shown no sign of fading in the slightest but it is best to take any precaution possible when it costs nothing to do.

815  Other / Meta / Re: Please I keep getting logged out of the forum from my browser and don't know why on: September 11, 2023, 09:16:33 AM
Yes, I clicked "Always stay logged in", when I was logging in, but yet I keep experiencing getting myself logged out, which is the main reason why I'm more worried, because I'm only using this account on a single mobile device.
Is this sort of thing happening to any other website you visit on that browser or just bitcointalk?

The problem could be from you clearing your cache or the browsing mode/settings you are using or another user accessing your account. You mentioned that you have changed email and password so that should fix any issue with unauthorized access, leaving us with a potential browser issue you might be missing.

816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: September 11, 2023, 09:08:56 AM
...then your idea is that it will be unfair to give an automatic entry for, lets say Madagascar, because they arent good at football and will never qualify? But Madagascar will never host a World Cup.
Madagascar are as much a footballing nation like Qatar and they hosted a world cup just recently. Any club that has a footballing national team and have the budget can bid to host a world cup, FIFA does not pick by which country is better at playing football, but which they stand to gain financially from.

Co hosting has happened only once before in the 2002 World Cup, so we do not have enough data to know its effect on the tournament when those teams get automatic entry. In this case the United States and Mexico, with Mexico appearing in all World cups since 1994 consecutively. The odds will be in their favor to qualify without the automatic entry.
Canada is the team which has not frequented the competition, only appearing twice before now, but it still does not pose a problem yet.

...Imho, in one day 10 countries gonna co-host a cup, I will have nothing against it, because I am 1000% sure these countries (that get auto entry) gonna perform well in the tournament.
That will be a very problematic situation.

817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: September 11, 2023, 08:55:13 AM
I don't understand why, but Croatia played three games when Armenia played four...
It is a group of five nations, so at one point in time there will be one of the countries who has played one less game than all the others since they are not perfectly paired as they will be in a group of four.

In the end every team will play the full eight matches as hey will face the other four teams across two legs.

818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Major League Soccer (MLS) 2021 on: September 10, 2023, 02:31:37 PM
He played very carelessly and big issue is his attitude, not his quality or fitness. In some mistakes made by Busquet, he did it very terrible and it's unacceptable with an experienced midfielder like him.
Busquets is still a world class player. With his style of play he is exposed to pressure when trying to transition the team from defense to attack and can make some mistakes in the process of doing that. Even Messi has made mistakes which cost the team he was playing for dearly, but they always manage to come good and show their quality in every match.

819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 10, 2023, 02:17:30 PM
The three man defence woukd easily favour them against Everton because Everton are not performing very well currently and would not be a problem for Arsenal to easily beat them but their problem cluld start when they face tougher opponents  like PSV and Tottenham that have good wingers that would trouble their three man defence.
Everton are always tricky opponents to play against. With their sporadic form you never know how well they will perform especially when playing against one of the top teams like Arsenal.

The three man defense is deployed by Arsenal for majority of their games with Zinchenko stepping into the middle when they have the ball and stepping back when they lose possession. This formation is being used by many of the top managers today as they look for ways to get one up over their opponent in the other technical area.

820  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Major League Soccer (MLS) 2021 on: September 10, 2023, 02:09:40 PM
It has been proven that Miami is not only dependent on Messi. But it must be admitted that Messi's role was the most to take the team to this stage.
Well they do have two other world class players in Sergio Busquets who was crucial in the third goal and Jordi Alba who is an excellent fullback.

Between those three they are able to influence the entire team with Alba building up the defense and Busquets making the other midfielders he is paired with better. And of course Messi is capable of influencing the entire team and making everyone play at a higher level than they were doing.
