801  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: !!NEW!! Physical Bitcoin Design Competition !!NEW!! Bounties Inside! on: October 17, 2014, 01:26:37 AM
I think the designers are holding their design, i am sure that lots of design will be submitted 1 week before the contest ends.
That'd probably right, at least I'm my case anyways.  And both prizes are still pretty valuable imo so I'm sure we'll see a flurry of entries during the last few days like we did with the last contest.

Awesome entry, especially being new to illustrator.  I would not at all be surprised to see this in the top five.  I love it.
803  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: !!NEW!! Physical Bitcoin Design Competition !!NEW!! Bounties Inside! on: October 06, 2014, 07:36:42 PM
Should all of the coins be round?

Should we keep the designs only gold / silver or are we allowed to add color?

Should entrants refrain from pointing others to vote in this contest? I understand this can be a gray area, but the more clarification we can get on this the better.

Are we allowed to use some or all of a design that we submitted for the previous contest? I'm not planning to but in case someone else would like to it will be best to clarify this now.

804  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Physical Bitcoin Design Finalists - Cast Your Vote Now! - Ends 10th September 14 on: September 16, 2014, 04:03:51 PM
Just pointing out that Coinographic paid the exact bounty or prize they offered... 0.25 and they paid on the date they said they would with no issues. Thanks Coinographic!  Looking forward to future design contests.

Just an idea... perhaps only allowing those who submit designs to vote. Possibly giving each person 2 or 3 votes. With the rule that you cannot vote for your own design.  Might be the best way to get a true count... Also, perhaps to erase any accusations of copied submissions, make one day, the submit design day... So, if contest is announced 9/1. and ends 9/30 at midnight, make 9/30 submission day and everyone posts their design whenever they want (or can) on that day.  This way, if people are afraid their design would be copied, they can just wait till the last hour to submit, knowing no one will copy and be able to get it in by the deadline.

Also offer a bounty perhaps for best idea for a new voting process.  In this case, see the portion of my comment in italics above. lol  Roll Eyes

Also got paid with no issues. Agree with campycoin, let the people who actually design something vote among themselves for lets say 50%. The other 25% public vote, 25% coinographic. See you guys at the next one!
Thirded.  Was paid the 0.25 BTC consolation prize.  Thanks Coinographic! Grin

I think what campycoin and LitecoinCollector are suggesting is a good idea if Coinographic wants to continue to let the community decide, especially since I believe there is a couple more design contests coming in the near future.  Or maybe just PM or e-mail the designs to Coinographic then they can post the designs that they like in a vote thread.  Otherwise, I'd recommend just picking whichever ones he likes best and making the final decision that way.

This is the best possible outcome. I'm glad to see MrBaus design win. Congrats MrBau and to all the runners up.

Coinographic, with everything considered, I think you handled things well. Thank you for putting on this contest and I can't wait for the next one.
806  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Physical Bitcoin Design Finalists - Cast Your Vote Now! - Ends 10th September 14 on: September 11, 2014, 06:46:18 AM
Oh for the love of.....

HERE.

campycoin, I'm actually glad someone made a square coin.  Honestly.  I started to do the same myself but thought it would be safer to make a square hologram on the back instead.  I appreciated the square coin design but frankly I think the actual design on the coin was a bit plain.  I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just giving my opinion.  I think if there would have been more detail or more design to it, it would have been a much more serious contender.  I also think (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that it was supposed to look more like a hunk of gold (bullion) instead of a more flat coin....if that makes sense.  Again, I'm not a coin collector or deal with anything in gold, but with your design, I'm guessing 2 oz of gold would be either really small, or much thinner than you had envisioned.

Anyways, I'll not argue with your points about my design being outside of the rules, but I'll just again say that I did PM coinographic asking about making the outside white gold before making the design that way.  Had he either not responded or said no, the black and white gold rim would not have made it into my submission.  I'm not a coin collector so if I'm being honest I sort of just assumed that 2oz of gold needed to be somewhere in the coin.  I guess I didn't fully understand that there was to be only gold and nothing to accent it, so I should have asked that as well before making a design.

I know most all of us worked very hard on our designs.  I think everyone took this very seriously and that the first prize might have been the reason it turned out the way it did.  I'm sure Coinographic has learned a few things from this as well, so however this turns out, I hope we can all eventually get back to what brought us here in the first place which is our passion for crypto.  Smiley

Great to see and this is exactly what the crypto space needs!

Are you guys focusing primarily on Bitcoin or will your platform be open altcoins as well?

some nice shirts - well done
Thanks!

Just got our first sample shirt in! (Pardon the poor mobile phone picture!)

809  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] CIPHERMINE.B1 - a virtual corporate bond with a 22% fixed-fiat APR on: September 08, 2014, 07:02:31 PM
I don't understand what Kate is doing. If she can't honor her debt, she should announce CipherMine's bankruptcy. She should liquidate CipherMine's assets and the proceedings of this action should be paid to bondholders. If there is anything left (which there won't be), she should pay the rest to CipherMine's shareholders.
It is unreasonable to expect we could get our whole investment back. But Kate should act on her own words and move ahead as she promised she would in a situation like this.
Not only is Kate building up an untrustworthy reputation in the Bitcoin community which might affect her future career in technology. By being inactive, she is also incentivizing us to carry legal action against her, the costs of which she will have to cover. And she clearly IS breaching the terms of contract if she continues to operate CipherMine.

I believe the situation is a bit different to what you describe.

In common law systems, like the UK, US and Australia, in order to enforce your legal rights you need to identify the correct counter-party to sue. The counter-party will be a company, an individual or a group of individuals.

As far as I can tell, there was no company in existence at the time the bonds were for sale. Therefore the counter-parties are the individual founders, as they are the legal persons who were effectively making the offer, and controlled the use of the funds raised. In a legal sense, there is no 'Ciphermine', there's just Kate, Giles, Simon and Ross (being the people who held themselves out as the founders and operators of Ciphermine), and possibly anyone else who can be identified as being in that class of person. Ciphermine.B1 bondholders have a contract with those people. The terms of the contract require full payment of the bonds at face value upon redemption.

For reasons I've already gone into I think their liability waiver is void.

The only situation in which we should contemplate not getting our whole investment back is if all of the people who are counter-parties become bankrupt. It is my opinion they are all personally liable for the full amount, unless they show that the representations made about their involvment were incorrect. They also cannot avoid responsibility by simply claiming to have 'left the project'. The contracts are still in force.
So you're all in agreement that CipherMine shareholders should be held responsible for repaying the bonds?  So not only do CM shareholders lose everything, but they have to pay out of pocket as well?

I must apologize for yesterday as I was extremely frustrated with alot of things.  But after taking a night to think about it, I realize it wasn't fair to negatively criticize your design simply because it was hand drawn.  You seem to have been as transparent and honest as anyone could expect and probably put more thought into your design than anyone of the rest of us. (Not to say the rest of us didn't work hard on our designs, but you have a very lengthy description to go with it).  You also designed a box and the coin is solid gold and not questionable with white gold like mine or S4VV4S.

With that in mind, if your design is chosen and needs to be modified, I will volunteer to assist with any photoshop/illustrator changes that you might need to have done.   Smiley
811  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Physical Bitcoin Design Finalists - Cast Your Vote Now! - Ends 10th September 14 on: September 05, 2014, 08:25:25 PM
Well, I figured it would turn out like this.  I cannot possibly see how so many people vote for, what I consider, a very unappealing design.  Which one I'm referring to is irrelevant, but since this style of voting seems to be what will determine the winner, I'll just share some information that I collected on the voting.

Here's how the voting currently stands (someone feel free to check my numbers):

iawgoM - 24
elianite - 21
BTC - Graphics - 12
MrBau - 4
bit0 - 4
bonksnp - 3
campycoin - 2
S4VV4S - 2
Cranky4U - 1

All of the voting for a design that I thought was.......not great, kept getting votes when the original finalist https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=764623.0 thread went up.  Everyone was screming scam/padded votes etc (which appears to be true) so Coinographic made a new thread open to everyone.  Since this board seemed to be manipulating the results, I went ahead and took the libery of posting a vote of the original top 5 finalist on a hardware forum I frequent.  I told them I would honestly like to know which design they like best, without googling who's design is which (even though a couple were watermarked already).  The order I posted the designs were as follows (to try and keep it seperate from the order they were in the thread):

1. S4VV4S
2. iawgoM
3. elianite
4. bonksnp2
5. bit0

Out of 143 votes, here at the results as of 5Sept2014:

While I would like to think that I could pad the results like this, I assure you, I don't have enough time or internet friends to do so.  And if anyone has a subscription to General Mayhem on Hardforum you can confirm the thread here and not some photoshop job I made up: http://hardforum.com/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=8632

BUT, I figured you know what, maybe this STILL isn't a fair vote since I'm a somewhat active member there.  Maybe everyone went out and googled the designs first despite me asking them to give thier honest opinion just so they could vote for my design (unlikely, but possible).  So I went to a coin enthusiast forum (http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=7), signed up under a random name and posted the top 5 designs again, in the same order.  Unfortunately the admins took the thread down, but in the one day it was up the results were as follows:

Design 1 - 0
Design 2 - 2
Design 3 - 0
Design 4 - 5
Design 5 - 0

There's really no weight to the last vote since I have no proof, but I'm sure the admins there will be more than happy to confirm they removed a "Bitcoin design opinion" thread. And maybe even still have the results?

Now I guess the more friends you have on BTCtalk the better your design will do.  iawgoM asked for others (in a different language mind you....I assume to keep hidden from primarily english speaking folks) to vote for him: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=hr&tl=en&u=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25215.msg8624519#msg8624519

elianite not only asked for votes (which is questionable really) but had to have someone else photoshop his design because he doesn't know how to use it (which is the bigger issue).  Coinographic stated
The winning designer confirms that;

1)   They agree to work with us after the voting is complete until the final coin design is produced, no matter the amount of time this takes.  This includes the front & Rear of the coin as well as the hologram and packaging
It's not really clear whether or not "working with us" means to modify the actual design in PS/AI/etc (which I assume it does) or if it means "Give us your opinion on the coin" for whatever reason, which I seriously doubt.
I was told of this contest by fellow physical crypto collector elianite.

BTC-Graphics design is straight up ripped off from a Shutter Stock image which is copyrighted by someone named Mauro Carli: http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-203441218/stock-photo-roaring-lion-head-high-relief-on-the-facade-of-a-palace.html?src=PS5DwrRy6S3EBRIUs8iKRA-1-1&pl=77643-108110
Design 15 is far and away the best.  A lot of thought.  I like the upside down pyramid and more.  Plus the box looks like it includes a free vape pen
LOL.  Yes, A lot of thought indeed.
Quote from: BTC-Graphicdesigns
Coinographic the 5 designs you have choosen clearly are fails.
At least most of them are original.  Enjoy your lawsuit.

Someone in one of the other threads suggested that my design wasn't original.  I assure you, it was, and I have every single version of it saved on my computer if anyone doubts me.  I also saw many people claiming that the edge of my coin was silver and the "engraved lines" were just gold engraved into the black surface.  I guess no one thought to maybe ask what my intentions were but instead just make assumptions based on whatever they thought.

My design was to be a solid gold coin, with the edge dipped in white gold.  The black would have been a high gloss paint maybe, but I figured this would be something we would work out if my design was chosen.  But there would have certainly been 2oz of .9999 gold in the coin.

Frankly, I thought the 5 finalists that were chosen were fine with the exception of MrBau being absent.  But of course I was part of that group and the majority of you who weren't threw a fit because it was "an epic fail" and "I'll never buy coins from you!" and whatever else.

It's a shame it all went down like this, really.  I sincerely hope that the below is seen be Coinographic because it's probably the only reasonable piece of advice in the thread.
Coinographic, in the future, don't let the community vote.
Just choose the designs yourself.
812  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Physical Bitcoin Design Finalists - Cast Your Vote Now! - Ends 10th September 14 on: September 01, 2014, 03:44:46 PM
I'll cast my vote for Design Three by S4VV4S.  I like the White/Yellow gold contrast and the design is very clean.  Smiley

If I may, one thing most people are likely not thinking about is that even with a reasonably simple design, minting a coin with that design can have issues.  I was even afraid my design would be too complex, but there are several others that have WAY more stuff in them.  For example, Mr.Baus gear design in my opinion looks AWESOME, but I don't think there is any way that can realistically be a coin.  Certainly not with that amount of detail.

And Coinographic would you mind removing my original submission (Design 22) and just leave my updated submission (Design 4) available for voting? I'm not sure if it was an oversight, but I want this voting process to be as fair as possible.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!
813  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Physical Bitcoin Design Finalists - VOID - New Thread soon - See Statement on: September 01, 2014, 02:21:14 PM
I was afraid this was going to get a bunch of people bent out of shape. It's a shame it turned out like this.

And I don't remember who all was not happy with my design, but I have every single saved version of the coin (the final submission was v15) if anyone questions my originality.  I saw someone comparing my coin to another one and while I have to admit the do look similar, I hadn't seen that coin until today.

Also, I probably should have included more of an explanation of what materials were used in my design. I did ask during the competition if using both yellow and white gold was allowed and was told it was.

Mostly irrelevant though. I agree with polyteam-coin (even though he's destroying my design  Wink) that voting might be most fair on forums that aren't directly involved. Or maybe reddit?

Or maybe just ask mods from here, Litecoin, Dogecoin, etc to vote.

814  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 6 Bitcoins & 2 Ounces of fine Gold in Bounty – Submission Deadline 31st August on: August 31, 2014, 08:47:04 PM
Edit: Never mind. I believe I misread what PolyCoin-Team was saying.

I hope to see it live soon. It's deadline has crossed already otherwise I would have participated as well.Good Luck
The deadline isn't for a few more hours (just over 3 hours at the time of this posting)
815  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 6 Bitcoins & 2 Ounces of fine Gold in Bounty – Submission Deadline 31st August on: August 31, 2014, 06:11:16 PM
Here's an another version of my previous submission, plus the box to go with it.  I apologize for the graininess but I tried to illustrate how the engraved lines should look.  I'm unfortunately out of time so this is as pretty as it's gonna get.   This is what I was originally going for anyways, so I guess make this my official submission.  Grin

The back is almost the same as previous except I added a little black gloss to match the front.

The box is gloss black with a "BTC" window to look in and see the coin.  Engraved gold lettering on the front and sides help match the coin.

BTW, There have been some AWESOME submissions!  I think whatever design gets chosen, it's going to look amazing.

Best of luck to everyone!

Just wanted to let everyone know I've added several more shirts and fixed the Coinbase checkout issue (which I wasn't aware of til recently).

Thanks for checking us out!

Yea Thank you both for posting /linking. This pretty much confirms my worst fears as I was heavily involved in CipherMine and have not had dividends or communication in the last couple months.

Sounds like CipherMine shareholders need to go ahead and file a joint lawsuit as well.
