801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.11 on a Mac - differences from Windows on: August 15, 2015, 05:21:45 PM
Thank you for the post. That is great for other people moving over from Windows/Linux.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mainstream Adoption on: August 15, 2015, 05:14:37 PM
I would say that mass adaptation has not happened yet because so few people know what Bitcoin is and many think that the price of bitcoin is going to collapse. Since this almost happened at the beginning of the year, this has caused many to back away from the cryptocurrency and stick to fiat. Until the price stabilizes and more people become more aware of Bitcoin, the sooner mass adaptation will happen.
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.11 on a Mac - differences from Windows on: August 15, 2015, 04:47:27 PM
Try under the "Help" menu...I didn't check on v0.11.0 but that is where it has been on earlier versions.

That's the thing though, there is no menubar on the Mac GUI, just the send/recieve/transactions/overview tabs. I think I have to use the OS X console.

Oh, LOL I found the toolbar. Wow, I really am not used to the Mac operating system. Turns out the toolbar under OS X is positioned in such a way it looks like a start menu bar.
804  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: August 15, 2015, 04:45:18 PM
For long term investment, I may take gold but Bitcoin is quite a volatile investment and that makes it an appealing choice for those who want to gain in the short term. I would say gold and bitcoin are going to go up in value since they are both deflationary currencies.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Core 0.11 on a Mac - differences from Windows on: August 15, 2015, 04:40:57 PM
So I just switched over from a PC to a Mac and I have noticed the GUI for Bitcoin Core on a Mac is quite different than what it is on Windows. I'm trying to export private keys, but cannot find the debug window in the application. I googled a bit and found the instructions to run bitcoind but to be honest I've mostly been a Windows user all my life and I am relatively new to OS X. I am sorry if this sounds like a newbie question.
806  Economy / Long-term offers / 0.57 BTC paid of within 6 months/website escrow on: August 13, 2015, 06:18:02 PM
I need 0.58 BTC to get old project files off my old laptop so I can finish developing my Bitcoin trading card store. It is way behind schedule and I need to get myself work, I can escrow my website http://www.tommorisonwebdesign.com. It's my personal site, hosted on iPage and the domain was registered on GoDaddy.

I then hope to sell some trading cards and get work as a coder. I hope to pay this off within 6 months. A low interest rate would be greatly appreciated.  I would recommend a trusted escrow to be used in this transaction.
807  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN FALLING? on: August 13, 2015, 05:42:08 PM

You know its not that im not a believer... because if i am not. i will not ask this question.. its just that.. no one here in the forum know WHAT WILL REALLY HAPPEN to BITCOIN.im also new in bitcoin industry... thats why im asking for some advice to those veteran in bitcoin.  So if the majority here would say that it will really rise in the long run... well it is a relief for me..

Doesn't matter how veteran we are, if anyone tells you they know for certain that BTC will rise (or fall) - they're either guessing or lying. No one knows.

I believe BTC will rise in the medium- to long-term. But please don't make investments based on what I - or anyone else on the Internet - says! Do your own research and trust your own decision.

yeah your right. well i think this is one of my research.. thanks for the advice... (thumbs up) Tongue

As a noob, you are a lunch meat to the early adopters, whales and manipulators in the market. Since it sounds like you've bought some coins, you have my sympathy. Now, sell your coins and try to recoup as much as you can, while you can. Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme. If you stick around, your coins will become worthless. Btc has lost 80% of its value since Dec'2013. Recently, some of the early adopters, whales and schemers tried to stop the decline but they have largely failed. The longer you hold your coins, the more you will lose. Don't be their bag holder. They have lured in countless others with false promises. Their words have proven to be false; "To Da Moon!", "1 BTC to be worth 1 Million $!!!", etc... All pump'n dump, putrid hyped up marketing. Don't be holding their bag.
You seem to have no idea what the fuck your talking about. Bitcoin is a new technology with many applications yet to be discovered. You seem to think someone owns bitcoin or that there is a conspiracy to capitalize off bitcoin. The reason why the price of bitcoin fell so much in the first place was over that Mt. God scandal which has to do with people missing the point of Bitcoin being a decentralized currency. It is way more than a simple ponzi.
808  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: where we can loan out btc? on: August 13, 2015, 04:15:08 PM
I would stay away from BTCJam and only deal with trusted members of btt loan section and avoid dealing with newbies and users with low trust ratings. BTCJam is full of scammers who more often than not default on their loans and have zero consequence.
809  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the best online bitcoin wallet on: August 13, 2015, 04:04:15 PM
Currently bitcoincore, fast, reliable, secure, multibit went to the toilet :/
Shame on multibit developers, ruined so good project

update: oh online wallet, none, don't use Tongue, only offline. If i must pick one online, sadly, blockchain info, but they are also terrible
Yes I agree with you on that. I can't really trust online wallets with large amounts of money in them. Should the site become unavailable, I would loose those funds. At least with a local wallet you BTC are secure.
810  Economy / Exchanges / Re: well this is a bad news on: August 12, 2015, 09:33:01 PM
Looks like the powers at be in the USA are really afraid of the potential of Bitcoin so now they have no choice but to pull off stuff like this to keep their stranglehold on the world. It's a good thing I live up north.
811  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which block explorer do you use? on: August 12, 2015, 07:00:24 PM
I use blockchain pretty much. I have not looked at other block  explorers yet. It's the most used explorer and the only one I knew about until this thread.
812  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: August 12, 2015, 06:54:26 PM
It's good to have both investments and savings. Having some money available in the bank for emergencies or a vacation can for me be considered savings. I would consider real estate, gold and bitcoin investments. But as it has already been pointed out Bitcoin is currency as well. And since it's a new currency people have to use bitcoin for purchases. This is the only way bitcoin is going to take off as a currency.
813  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to make a profit buying and selling BTC? on: August 12, 2015, 06:45:28 PM
Was wondering how people do this?

Buy BTC for cash, send them to trader, trade back for cash with trader but then i'm lost because i have no good way to get the funds on paypal again.

Maybe someone can advise me so i can go to buy BTC for cash here and there and make a profit Smiley

There is Lot Of ways in Which you can make profit on Trading:
Buy BTC when they are at Low Value Hold them for some time sell them in Fragments when there is increase in BTC price ,
Important: remember to sell them in fragments , doing so will insure you are getting an average Profit on each of your Trade and will help you in getting much profit than selling a whole BTC.
This is probably the best way to go. I would invest some funds into buying BTC1 and hold it for a few months. In order to get good at trading, you should follow the price chart and post in the speculation forum of this board. Many experienced bitcoin enthusiasts discuss when it's a good time to buy and when it's a good time to sell.
814  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin debit card on: August 12, 2015, 06:37:44 PM
I personally don't see a need to use this card myself. There's a coffee shop that has a bitcoin ATM not too far away from my house. I can also use one of the many face-to-face exchanges in my city to convert crypto to cash. Considering the other posts in this thread, I wouldn't want to trust this companny with my money anyway.
815  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How the online sellers are dealing with bad buyers? on: August 11, 2015, 06:35:16 PM
I don't really know how the buyers could be bad. What normally goes on in a scam is the buyer ends up paying up front for a product and never gets it. Then they're out their money. In what circumstance do buyers end up being the scammers?
816  Economy / Speculation / Re: You all know it's going to crash? on: August 11, 2015, 05:34:11 PM
Bitcoin is going through pump and dumps, which I say is the result of both supporters and detractors of Bitcoin. There is a steady increase in the price of bitcoin since the crash in January and it continues to climb. It will have reached $1000 by the end of next year.
817  Other / Off-topic / Re: what you like best in Bitcoin ? on: August 11, 2015, 05:23:34 PM
I like Bitcoin's open and decentralized currency. I like how there are many uses for Bitcoin and that it works better than paypal and credit cards. My favourite part of bitcoin is the fact that there are many uses for the technology that are yet to be discovered and it's value is only going to up up in the years to come.
818  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: August 11, 2015, 05:14:23 PM
I try t o follow the advise already given in this thread to save more of my money. I try not to use my credit card wherever possible. I have also eliminated things that I don't need out of my budget, so I save money. I am on a disability pension and I pay $375 for an apartment that is normally $3000 a month to live. I also get by with the meals the building provides every day. In addition, I have taken advantage of Groupons and have been getting some cash back in bitcoin.
819  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks Suck on: August 11, 2015, 05:02:00 PM
Well the title of this thread definitely got my attention. Banks do definitely suck. I hate the ATM fees, interest fees, and every other fee banks and credit cards companies charge. I'm looking forward to a time where Bitcoin is accepted everywhere. I would definitely be saving a lot of money.
