801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin Story (console me) on: July 07, 2014, 07:28:17 AM
Hey, don't worry about it. Bitcoin will crash back down to $1 eventually and you can buy back those 500 coins and get ready for the next jump to $1000.

The OP sounds alot smarter and happier than dumb ass like you.

We know you lost money thro bad trading.... get over it dumb fck. The fact that you just turn hater because you sold your coins cheap means you only care about making "money"

Now you can go buy some scamcoins and pray, ok pumpkin?

I think China would collapse first because they're blind by "nationalism".

Their whole economy is just a bubble.

805  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-04] CD: EBA:Financial Institutions Should Avoid BTC & Await Regulat on: July 04, 2014, 11:49:03 PM
Screw regulation.  Correct me if I'm wrong here but wasn't bitcoin created to circumvent all of this regulatory BS?  Why in the hell is everybody pushing for regulation...it makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever!

You should get out of your mom's basement more often.

806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Las Vegas Bitcoin - conference on: July 04, 2014, 11:32:08 PM
Bitpay really should approach MGM to be the exclusive payment processor for bitcoin. I know Snapcard can do this for you but with Bitpay the hotel managment might decide to accept bitcoin after the event.

I hope Toni from Bitpay still reads this forum.

Also note that even if the hardware can mine more than what its being sold for, the manufacture still rather sell hardware than being in speculating business.

Having cash flow now is worth alot more than waiting for small profits in future.

Unfortunately, i rarely see ppl understand this.

You're right in theory.

But the reality is many people taking losses
on machines because they didn't get them
in hand fast enough, and even if mining
companies have good intentions, the
nature of the business makes it very hard
to be profitable by simply buying turnkey
mining gear.   The companies don't want
to take the risk, precisely because its
a very dangerous bet, or if they do take
it, its without the burden of the margins
that they get by selling the gear.

Don't you think more people should
understand that too?

Its a new market which opens up opportunities for better retailers.

For example, having an escrow service with guaranteed delivery date and automatic deduction of the price based on estimated income lost....etc. Its really not hard to do a smart contract with bitcoin.

Let the free market do its best.

Innovative..and cute Smiley

Users upload selfies to the Bitstars site, which can then be “liked” by other members of the community. The selfie with the most “likes” at the end of the day receives a Bitcoin prize equivalent to PhP500 or more. Hence, the Bitstars tagline is “may the best selfie win!”

Read more: How a startup is driving Bitcoin adoption with selfies in the Philippines http://www.techinasia.com/startup-driving-bitcoin-adoption-selfies-philippines/

I found the site ..here it is

rules

http://bitstars.ph/rules

It is a great promotional idea and would work in the west with a $100 or 50 pound in bitcoin prize....methinks Smiley

I hope ppl would be more creative than making themselves looking pretty in selfies..

811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sign the BITCOIN RESTORATION PETITION!!!!!! on: July 03, 2014, 09:39:36 PM
Most ASIC manufacturers are not con artists. They hash at the advertised rate and they earn you bitcoin. They are just overpriced and people fall for them.

The entire market is a fraud.
There is not one legitimate company.

You know what, you're right...

Despite the misguided thoughts such as "the hashes are wasted
and it provides no security and we should change bitcoin"
(which are obviously wrong)

...you're right that ASIC manufactures are out to take your money.
They imply or at least bank on you believing the idea that you
can or will be profitable from mining, and the reality is you probably
won't.

Why would any company sell you a piece of hardware that
they can run themselves and make more of a profit?  The answer
is, they generally won't, because to do so would be
anti-business.  All businesses are out to maximize profits,
and without profits, there would be no business.

So... It's a racket.

Difficulty keeps going up, and your slice of the pie keeps
going down... MAYBE you will make your money back
if the difficulty stays level, but it hasn't.

You could make your money back if BTC prices rise,
but then again, its easier to simply buy BTC.

Cloud mining is even more of a scam.

The winners in mining are those that make their
own chips or at least purchase chips wholesale
and assemble them.

There's nothing left for you to do , except
to except the reality, learn from the (expensive)
mistake and move on.

Again as for any investment or business venture, you must do your own calculation. Calling the market a fraud is stupid. Its the same with franchising industry, very overpriced with little return.

Also note that even if the hardware can mine more than what its being sold for, the manufacture still rather sell hardware than being in speculating business.

Having cash flow now is worth alot more than waiting for small profits in future.

Unfortunately, i rarely see ppl understand this.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expedia says Bitcoin usage has exceeded expectation on: July 03, 2014, 09:32:45 PM
And isn't expedia really expensive compared to juat booking via the airline/commision free search site.

Happy to use my AUD if the cost is significantly cheaper (which it was when I used expedia last time)

Im just talking abput flights tho...dam mobile /train

It totally depends on the location. For US, expedia have the best deals overall.

Booking directly with the airline has always been more expensive but its benefits is for airline group's membership.

In short, Expedia is best for avg ppl who travel for vacation once or more a year. For business travels, the airline group's membership is better.
813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NewEgg accepting BTC!? on: July 03, 2014, 09:26:51 PM
LOL! this community is funny.  Nope, they're not taking BTC.  They're taking USD from Bitpay.  Of course they're not actually gonna touch something like BTC, wouldn't make much business sense at all.

Kind of a silly thing to say. You could say the same thing about any payment method that isn't cash in the mail.

"They don't actually take Visa, they let a 3rd party handle it and take cash from the payment processor."

"They don't actually accept Euro, they have their bank convert it and take dollars."

Etc etc for literally any payment method.

What they do on their end is their business. People just want a choice in how to pay, and that isn't a bad thing.

You're ignoring a huge difference between real money and BTC.  A business cannot risk actually touching BTC, as their banks would likely stop doing business with them.  They also risk becoming a target of launderers, and thus risk criminal investigation.  Besides the wild fluctuations in value that make BTC as a currency very dumb, the rampant criminal activity in this community assures that no business will touch BTC except through shady VC-funded ops like Bitpay.

hmmm... yet us election candidates can accept and touch bitcoins for donations to their campaigns and not have these same problems and risks ??

The idiot doesnt even know what real money is..... why even bother?

I swear i can teach my old dog a new trick b4 he would realize how dumb he sounded.
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sign the BITCOIN RESTORATION PETITION!!!!!! on: July 03, 2014, 09:24:43 PM
Why does the dumbest always speak the loudest?

It has been a while since we've seen a "ASIC kills bitcoin" thread....

Can anyone guess how soon we will see another " mining concentration is a flaw" thread?

Gotta love all the idiots come and go ....
815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need some good Bitcoin resources- to help explain Crypto to an investor HELP! on: July 02, 2014, 09:01:19 PM
Excuse me- you do not know me, and you know nothing of my background and you know nothing of what I am planning.

I know plenty thanks, and I already have plenty of information- I am merely asking if anyone has any good primers for a total newbie.

Maybe read a bit better-  and by crypto's I was using an abbreviation for Cryptocurrency, of which Bitcoin is certainly one, that much is pretty obvious? or is that the highlight of your knowledge?
Some advice: It's not the easiest thing to do, but it's best not to respond to an attack in this way. Better is to wait for a while, and someone else will do it for you, which makes you look much better.

I "agree", let me sum it up for you :

Some non-technical noob, like to start a "crypto" related company while using technical word without actually understand jack about it "technically". How typical right?

The OP background is finance. How many times have we seen failed btc businesses run by "financial experts"?

Good luck to whomever handing the OP money.
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need some good Bitcoin resources- to help explain Crypto to an investor HELP! on: July 02, 2014, 08:50:49 PM
....blah blah blah blah...

I dont care if you think i sound rude. The fact that you keep preferring bitcoin as "crypto" means you already failed at grasping the fundamental of bitcoins.

Fortunately for you, there are also many idiots like to use such "technical" word to show they're in the known/trend.

Wanna talk to an investor about bitcoin, talk about " alternative currency" and the economic aspect behind it as what they care about is their bottom line.

Good luck to you... and your grandma if she's still alive.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need some good Bitcoin resources- to help explain Crypto to an investor HELP! on: July 02, 2014, 02:36:17 PM
I am compiling a list of resources for a person that is totally not up to date and does not get Bitcoin/Crypto currency

The person has a finance background, and a legal background- the person is not technically minded

I have list of resources , videos, text, articles and good places to get key data.

has anyone any works they suggest may be suitable for this gentleman to read ?  (I get the feeling he is more of a reader than a video watcher, plus I have some good videos already- though if you have any amazing links please do share)

I am almost ready to send what I have, but just thought I would ask here if anyone has any good primers to add to my list or rather than me writing it all out again.

The gentleman is a man with very deep pockets and a group of investors, I have meetings planned with the person in question to discuss starting
a Crypto/Bitcoin relegated company here in the UK -

I am looking for good text primers for a person new to crypto but that has a good finance background,  not too basic, not too full on   have you any suggestions that I can add to my ever growing list ?  I do not want to send him everything, I am looking to cherry pick.

Already had one meeting with the chap in question, and before the next one I would like him to do some reading, so he knows more about where
his money is going to be going, before the next rounds of meetings- as the guy is pretty much a crypto newbie.

Thank you in advance.

From your post, it seems like you dont even know much anyway....

Crypto is not bitcoin  Roll Eyes. You're telling him to read about cryptography or what? Stop talking like a moron and let serious ppl do serious business. We dont want to hear another failed bitcoin business run by idiots.

EDIT: joined date December 23rd 2013, another noob attracted by price hikes .... no wonder you call bitcoin "crypto"
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We could easily stop the SR auction, would you? on: June 26, 2014, 07:47:12 AM
Absolutely not!  Are you freakin kidding me?!  Who the hell thinks like that?!!

Well not sure what planet you're from, but here on Earth, idiots dont think.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you sometimes think Bitcoin will fail? on: June 26, 2014, 07:45:32 AM
Depends on what day and what mood I'm in, LOL! Sadly, it looks like there are far more people that want it to fail, than prosper, and for no real reason. Except for the fact they like to see something fail.

Then there is the fact that the central banks are so powerful that they could crush it like a bug.  Someday, I think that it can't be crushed because it's taken off too far to kill it completely. Personally, I don't know anymore.

I want to support bitcoin, but these days it doesn't keep the lights on. I can make more money investing in the stock market than I can with bitcoin these days. i will continue to mine on a small scale and hold my coin in the hope that it will one day take off, but for now, there are better investments out there.

There are 2 types of haters:

+ The noobs who suffer the sour grapes symptoms : http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Sour+Grapes

"In an old fable by Aesop, a hungry fox noticed a bunch of juicy grapes hanging from a vine. After several failed attempts to reach the grapes, the fox gave up and insisted that he didn't want them anyway because they were probably sour. "

+ The senior members who lost money/potential profits thro exchange scams or bad trading. Most of them never believe or understand the economic aspect of bitcoin. Now they cant afford to buy in and they're posting FUDs out of bitterness.
820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We could easily stop the SR auction, would you? on: June 26, 2014, 07:38:22 AM
Hell no. Assuming you cod accurately identify which coins are under the control of the government (you probably will screw some poor sod on the other side of the world in all likelihood) it sets up an extremely bad precedent that could be abused in the future. For better or for worse these coins have ended up in the hands of the government and you can't do anything about it lest you destabilising Bitcoin in the future. If what you've stated was implemented, the select people who had control over the pools and held a crude could effectively steal someone else's coins with no moral/ethical justification. It gives all that power into the hands of a few.

I swear many of these noobs need to read about currency and its characteristics. One of which is fungible.
