Well, I'm mining!

I have no idea what happened; I didn't change anything.

Cgminer 3.1.1 just happened to start working.
Well, in any case, I'm definitely very happy!

heh, yeah it did that for me when it first came out. Smiley

i suppose that i could run one regular instance and one no gpu instance.
803  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Unified miners communication protocol on: September 04, 2013, 02:10:18 AM
I would suggest that the best way to go about this would be to draft a document and let everyone pick it apart. Of course getting a concensus is almost impossible. When all is said and done, the important part would be getting the hardware people on board. Once they are in agreement, the software people may bitch, but they still need to support the hardware or someone else will.
804  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: USB Block erupter on: September 04, 2013, 01:51:23 AM
Using the later CGMiner's with direct USB makes it really easy to run multiple instances with however many AMU's you want in each instance.

I use the command line --usb ICA:5 in each instance and have 5 devices pointed at multiple pools.  Makes it really easy to assess pool performance.
Sam

really? it works like that? what if there is one gpu, will they fight over it? i was wondering what i was going to do when there were too many AMUs to fit in the bigest window i can make.

806  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 03, 2013, 01:52:55 AM
What's the point of the OP? I don't see any prices posted.
Thinking about this some more, it's not common for a manufacturer to specify the price of their product. That's for the retailers to do. Try asking Intel how much their Core i7-4771 CPU costs and they will refer you to a retailer.

http://ark.intel.com/products/77656/Intel-Core-i7-4771-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz?wapkw=core+i7-4771

Recommended Customer Price: $320.00 :p
Oh, yeah, forgot about MSRPs Smiley.

But I'm sure I can find a manufacturer that does not provide MSRPs if I wanted to Smiley.

There are instances where cars are bought for more than sticker when they are new and supply is limited.
807  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter Blade (New Model)]Low Price, Limited Quantity on: September 03, 2013, 01:49:23 AM
oh yeah, ethernet vs USB. I'll take usb. usb hubs are a lot cheaper than ethernet switches. we don't all have open connectors on our router. Roll Eyes

I also noticed the new namecoin warning, when using a valid address.  Is this the first glimpses of merged mining coming back to life?

um... i have no use for namecoins, other that to convert them to bitcoins. I have the namcoin address pointing to my address on BTC-e everything was fat, dumb, and happy. the address worked ok on BTCguild. I've never had enough namecoin to pay out on Slush. Well, today, Slush pool is saying that the address isn't valid and that i sould get a namecoin client. Tongue

Any idea what is going on? Not enough namecoin to go crazy about.

Slush was playing around with the website this week, maybe he borked sumptin.

you can not have a totally offline device for an online reality.

enough of the debate already. is it really necessary to rehash the same points in every thread? Nobody cares about your take on ROI either way. Can we get back on topic?
812  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 02, 2013, 01:14:27 AM
Um... Kano, i don't get you. you maintain the most popular mining software there is, for free. Yet you deride the people who use your software for making poor hardware decissions at a time when there are no good hardware decissions due to prepoderance of people willing to spend too much money on mining. Do you mine or just develop the software needed to do it. You confuse me.
813  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: September 02, 2013, 01:08:49 AM
Very helpful for the hardware side of getting these blades up and mining. I'm sure you've save me and hundreds of others a lot time, effort and money.

I've got my hardware all wired up and working. but I am still clueless how to get these things connected to a pool. I've been searching all day for some step-by-step, concise instructions for (an obviously mentally challenged) newbie miner??

seems more like Fight Club. if it wasn't for you all on this site, I'd have never got the hardware set-up. not even 1 picture or sentence of instruction came with the blades. the (1 page) diagram online is a joke. are you telling me that even an experienced miner or programmer is going to deduce all the information needed to set a blade up from that one page??? let alone someone new to mining.

and, I know this is international dealing with different languages, but an online guide could be translated or something. even some Ikea type hieroglyphics would be better than nothing. if it's that much of a secret, who's palm needs greasing or ass needs to be kissed to be sponsored, hazed, taught the secret handshake and finely gain admittance to the inner circle of knowledge? I'm at a loss. this is my 3rd day
with the blades in-hand. the power and IP connection were fairly easy with this thread........now we (some? at least me!) need the rest!!

thanks
LongHairBri

Blades have been, and are currently the most barebone miner there is. You need to enter your pool IPs, user and pass into the online console.

um.. providing your pool supports getwork, which almost none do, otherwise you need to run a stratum proxy server. I believe the how to is in this thread.
814  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 01, 2013, 11:32:58 PM
No that's terrible logic. If you don't make back your initial investment in btc you haven't ROI'd and would have been better off just buying and holding btc.

But mining is more fun than trying to anticipate market values. Grin

If I'd delete my account in pool, will I be payed off automatically?
I think if you set your Send Threshold to lower than your Confirmed Reward, it will auto payout. Same with leftover NMC.

except that some of us have less NMC than the smallest allowable threshold. I think i remember slush saying that account deletion was a way to get what was left. but that was a while ago considering how quiet slush has been.

looking to buy 100 shipped to the uk what's the best price you can do ?

are you looking for a uk reseller ?

yxt handles EU from Germany.

lol when I asked him about sending to the uk I was told its not worth his bother

from Germany we still have to pay crazy post prices and customs fees

we need a uk reseller
I've offered, but been told that its yxt's realm. I'd be happy to do it otherwise. You wouldn't have customs from Germany.

the uk is a rip of I get post from a few EU county's and I have had to pay customs or I wouldn't get my stuff

( 20% vat on any imported goods it doesn't matter where there from )

its crazy

I thought europe was all openned up. couldn't just jump on a train, or drive to germany, get what you need and then go home?
817  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 01, 2013, 10:46:10 PM
At this point I was hoping the resellers would be transparent with us. I get that the markup on btcguild is for the convenience but Friedcat mentioned a lowered price today with no details of the price. Since he hasn't responded I had hoped that the resellers could fill us in on this. I have bought from btcguild in the past and it was great. All I wanted was a hobby miner with no hassle. Now that they are getting cheaper and could have some sort of ROI possibility I am opting to go the group buy route and was hoping eleuthria could help me figure out if I was getting screwed.

Again I get that best buy wouldn't tell you directly how much they pay for their products but that information is available to the public. Freidcat has not made this information available and it looks like he simply forgot to include it in his post. All I was hoping for was a solid from the owner of the pool I mine at.

At the rate the global hashrate is increasing, I'd be surprised if Free showed ROI. Don't get me wrong, i have 50 of these hashing away, but i suspect that these little guys are going the way of GPUs rapidly.
818  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 01, 2013, 10:10:04 PM
Hey eleuthria,

Earlier today friedcat made an announcement on the erupters having a price drop but he forgot to actually include the new price. I was wondering if you could share how much he is selling them for so I can see if I am getting screwed in the groupbuy I am in. I understand your model is based on convenience and quick shipping times so it demands a higher premium I just want to know if the wait and effort I am putting into the groupbuy is worth it. It would be great if you could let me know in either a pm or reply on here.

I've seen nothing on yet another price drop since I dropped mine last week.  There will be an extension of the coupon program to the remaining 70% of 1BTC/unit orders that didn't receive a coupon previously.  These coupon units have been received, but the coupons will not show up on the BTC Guild store until Tuesday due to the holiday weekend.

Currently working remotely today and part of tomorrow to take my first "vacation" (hard to call it that with 3 phones, 2 laptops, and a tablet), so I decided to delay distributing the coupon promotion until I'm able to give it my full promotion.  They can't be shipped due to the weekend anyways.

Thanks but that didn't really answer my question. All I'm asking is what probably should be public knowledge already but for some reason isn't. How much are the retailers currently ordering block erupters for?

If you walked into Best Buy and asked them how much they pay for the various things they sell, would they tell you?
819  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: September 01, 2013, 08:05:33 PM
Look, this back and forth is just stupid. When people argue in a forum no one wins. Somebody just do it and post their results. If you think you can put a higher voltage in, then do it an prove it. If you don't think it will work, or you don't want to risk destroying your Blade, then don't do it.

Just quit the senseless arguing over opinions.

On the megabigpower order web site. If you have an order you can see the status.

Mine just says "Paid" Sad
