Yup most of the US is profitable to mine, either on residential or commercial.

If you take about 4.5 cents off these rates that about what the realistic low price you can get in those states.
http://www.eia.gov/electricity/monthly/epm_table_grapher.cfm?t=epmt_5_6_a

Their "California" number is way off.  Our state is much to large to be represented by a single number.  I pay twice the rate listed there, sometimes 3x.

California I think varies greatly by how populated the area is. The more populated the more the price is and the less populated the cheaper the electricity is.

There are many that vary greatly.  It should go down farther into county within state if you want accurate.  A state just is a huge thing to put together.

Most likely there are multiple energy companies, big cities with high bills, etc.   Just not one size fits all.
8002  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Trying to buy a massive amount of hardware!!! on: July 20, 2015, 07:51:00 PM
You created a user just to post that?

That's pretty laughable.
Well to be fair this is kind've the best place to find out about bitcoin and which hardware to buy, i think it is understandable.

It's just that about once a week we have someone new ask about a big farm, start a conversation.  And nothing comes out of it.

I wish that they would search or go to speculation and see other threads there.  But others are right at this time it's hard to get the bulk at the moment.
8003  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If mining BTC isn't profitable like people say -- how are OTHER people doing it? on: July 20, 2015, 07:47:15 PM
Investing in solar panels? Creating the chips themself?

Why even buy a btc miner if you could actually be losing money -- breaking even I can KINDA understand.. But even then you start to lose money very soon. (unless BTC pops up of course)
Well I for one find mining to be a lot of fun and it gives me an indepth look into it and also gave me an extra passion into investing and electricity. Mining even if you lose money via only mining you can still either sell the hardware, solo mine or use it as a heater. Miners are neat!

And with right conditions you really can ROI.  So many say ROI is not possible, but it's not one size fits all.

And as far as solar... look for cheap electricity don't spend a ton on solar/wind energy.
8004  Other / Archival / Re: July 11th to July 25th diff thread. Picks are now closed. on: July 20, 2015, 07:45:24 PM
Bitwisdom went down a little:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    51,076,366,303
Estimated Next Difficulty:    52,069,849,184 (+1.95%)
Adjust time:    After 714 Blocks, About 4.9 days
Hashrate(?):    379,554,704 GH/s

Price is around 278 per BTC.  So getting better slightly.
8005  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for the trust settings on: July 20, 2015, 12:39:23 PM
Untrusted feedback should DEFINITELY be shown by default, however not in the trust rating you see next to your profile picture on the posts you make.
Untrusted feedback should be taken a little less seriously, however having it hidden by default just makes it potentially less chance of seeing they are a scammer. Untrusted people (like me) may leave a trust rating, with solid proof that they are a scammer, but people who do not have "show untrusted feedback" on, will not see it and continue deal with that user and might get scammed.

Most untrusted feedback is garbage, and any serious scam accusation can very quickly be forwarded to someone with DefaultTrust rating ability. Have a look at my untrusted feedback, I have 100's of negatives from the BFL 'trust competition' and about 20 more from a permabanned guy onto his 12th account.

I agree with not showing untrusted by default.  I say leave feedback as it is.

If you show untrusted there will be people who make accounts to ruin others feedback.  It gives trolls a new way to spam someone.

Overall I would actually still gain if we did show untrusted.   My score would be even better.  But there are just some that are trash I have one from user "Evan".  He decided to name call in my trust.   I asked him what I did... no response.   That is the type of garbage that could make trust bad with untrusted.
8006  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: July 20, 2015, 12:33:04 PM
I've earned 3000 satoshis from a Bitcoin faucet today.

You are now Jr. Member, what about joining some signature campaign to maximize your earnings?
Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns

Sure why not? Thanks! I start joining right away!  Cheesy

You will be happy you did.  I wish I would have started much earlier then I did on sig campaigns.

Biggest advice is go on like normal forums.  Don't spam or try to get a lot of posts for sake of sig.
8007  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mine opportunity with ultra-cheap electricity on: July 20, 2015, 12:25:10 PM
Do you have the backing to do one as proof of concept?  I think if you could prove concept it's more likely for people to invest and want in.

I think that proof of concept goes a long way as far as getting investors.

What kind of backing are you thinking of? i got my own mines, which aren't big (yet), but i'm more than willing to let people ask about them and prove the benefits of mining here. I would be doing this project out of pocket if i had the financial backing, but unfortunately good ideas don't usually land on people with deep pockets Sad

I was thinking this thread was looking for investors is what I meant by backing.   It sometimes takes money to make money.

I really think you would have to build one of these that you have ideas of having 300 of them.  I think it needs proof and not just on paper.    I could be wrong on this but I think if you did one and proved it investors would be much easier to find.
8008  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive SpondooliesTech SP10 Setup [HD] on: July 20, 2015, 12:18:41 PM
Does factory reset also delete the history (graphs, etc)?

It reset's it like it was from factory... so your stats yes they should be gone.

I have not tested this as I have not had to, but I cant imagine stats being kept through factory reset.
8009  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LKETC 5T 1000W is it real? on: July 20, 2015, 12:17:21 PM
Hi

I was looking for a thread on the new annouce of the 5T 1000w of LKETC and didnt find one.

That could be a big game changer in the market.

Lketc did the A1 and A2 and these were good gear so if they get reach 0.2w/gh this is gonna be huge.

http://lketc.com/enindex.aspx

Is true... i don't think so yet.  They do have a history of making good miners though.   So really they are waiting on chips.

Once we get chips to this level then we will some proof of product.  But I believed they announced before chips were ready unless they really surprised me on timeline.
8010  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Legality of Mining Bitcoins on: July 20, 2015, 11:38:17 AM

Ifcourse that you can.

I am located in Wisconsin, USA. I am under 18 years of age. If I earn bitcoins, do I have to pay any sort of tax? Isn't there some sort of threshold that if I pass it, I have to pay the tax?

Maybe you can say that is profit of your parents etc, then pay tax, you can't profiting of selling bitcoins with legal way.

And, can you calculate the amount of bitcoins you will earn by your hashing rate?

On internet you can find some actually calculaters

The way I read it was it was a capital gain or loss.  So look into that for your situation.

I think with it being a capital asset until sell there is not taxable profit.    But again I'm not a CPA only someone with a lot of accounting classes a while back.

If you are getting big see a CPA.

8012  Other / Politics & Society / Re: America: big egos, bad attitudes, no brains on: July 20, 2015, 11:20:25 AM
There's a story about Cassius Clay which pretty much sums up what americans attitudes are really like.  You all can guess or look up what I'm talking about.   It seems like stupidity has more and more become the most common defining trait of the american people.

It's a horrible attitude.  I don't think you should base all people becuse of race, religion, region, etc.   There are good and bad people.... none of the previous things will let you know if someone is good or bad.

I suggest opening your mind look into positives about people and how differences in  culture can be a great learning experience.
8013  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 20, 2015, 11:15:44 AM
I will add this is one of the miners on my radar I really want to use.   I cannot wait till I can get one and get into scrypt game for fun.

Sometimes I miss scrypt sometimes.   The good news is I think we have the chips needed with SFards, once they are mass produced we all should have some dual mining fun.
8014  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: July 20, 2015, 11:12:46 AM
Just join any signature campaign, you can earn a lot. My target is to get 0.4 BTC this week from mine signature. Hope I will find time for posting.
0.4 Bitcoins is a lot, considering it's all from a signature campaign. Gee, being a Hero member or even Legendary member is awesome! Another person I know, who is a Hero member as well, earns a flat rate of 0.1 Bitcoins a month. So your campaign pays per post, and that's awesome when you find time for posting!

Check out "Amph", he gets 0.5 every week! I need something around 400 posts and I want to keep them constructive. BIT-X campaign is the best one, because there's no minimum or maximum posts limit. Fixed monthly campaign are for people without much time. This will be my summer job!

yeah but i'm starting to get a little bored recently, always the same discussion, nothing new, i see people posting the same crap in a different ways, i don't know if this whole campaign thing will last, too many members recently

sometimes even if i know that i can make money by posting i choose deliberately  to not post because of that reason, some discussion are really stupid or not interesting enough

I love bitcoins and talking bitcoin.  My favorite is mining and hardware.  This does lead to lots of post's at some times.

Mine vary by amount of time I have free.   I finally am getting some time back so should finally be able to enjoy forums again.  Really is one of the funner boards out there.  I also because of my degree follow a few security forums.  I have to keep my time divided between the two Smiley
8015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TUTORIAL] How to Earn 1 Bitcoin in a Week on: July 20, 2015, 09:35:57 AM
Ok here is more proof, this wasnt a very long trade.

But still completed withing a few days for 3X profit :

I will give you some credit for trying.  It's still no where near the 1 BTC a week.  But you did make a tad of profit.

Best of luck.

8017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TUTORIAL] How to Earn 1 Bitcoin in a Week on: July 20, 2015, 09:17:33 AM
OK,
nice guide, and seems like easy to follow, but dunno the outcome work or not,
you can see I am currently joined the sign campaign and testing for your method.

I don't expect in 1 week time, I would be very happy if I can reach 1 BTC in 1 month time.

I wish OP would provide 1 btc address that shows even close to a 1 BTC gain in 1 week.    OP has not told anything that can be verified.

No screenshots of trading history... no bitcoin address.... I vote lock the thread if OP provides no proof.

Ah you are very annoying sometimes bro, but very well then i dont want to look like a shill so here is proof:

As you can see i turned about 0.01BTC into 0.17 BTC in 1 day, hows that?

I do give your credit for some.  It still is no where near 1 BTC per week as thread said, and trading is a month old.

But I do give you credit for showing 17 percent of what you say you can make in a week.

If you show current trades ... page 1 and are getting the 1 BTC in a week then you will have earned my respect for thread.

8019  Economy / Services / Re: I want to rent GPU for mining BNC give me a offer on: July 20, 2015, 08:32:32 AM
At bottom left of the thread look for "move thread".  After finding it move it to services, that is where selling hashing really should go.

At the moment, there is no discount on the miner.  (This is per the GREED Team)

I rather go with these guys here is a little competition BITMAIN.

http://lketc.com/enindex.aspx

They are not little competition they are huge.  They have shown what they can do with the A1 and A2 chips.   But that is really for another thread.

Lucky you seem like an alt what is your original accounts name?
