nevermind the cost, it's human life that  gets fucked over from the radiation poisoning. the more nuclear reactors you have, the more likely it's going to explode in your face. in the past 35 years, we've had at least 2 of them.. and almost a case in philadelphia as well.

and if you have a population that has been exposed to the radiation, you'd need to quarantine them.. otherwise they'd mix genes with other people and make babies with 3rd eyes.

The Chernobyl disaster was caused by the security lapses on the part of the Soviet authorities. But now the technology has advanced and there are no chances of any such disasters occurring again. There are hundreds, if not thousands of nuclear reactors operating across the world, and every year they save the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, who would have other wise died due to respiratory illnesses caused by the thermal power plants.

The biggest risk is that governments are concerned some of the byproducts from the reactors are then moved and converted into nuclear weaponry
Also how to dispose of nuclear waste Glassification processes etc how long it takes for spent fuel to cool down example Fukushima reactors
Although countries like Japan have the tech and could go nuclear or China which is nuclear there are concerns about giving it to other countries
Iran nuclear program/ sanctions and poor economic well being of its citizens as a consequence
North Korea Nuclear Armed and Independent but based on the reports we have sucks to live there
No New Nuclear Reactor has been built in the USA since 1977 because of increasing costs as more and more safeguards are put on them and people protest the idea.
The only reason nuclear has been able to maintain its share of the energy grid is because of efficiencies found in reactors
From 30% efficient in the 1970s to 90% efficient in 2000
http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/Country-Profiles/Countries-T-Z/USA--Nuclear-Power/
That said until the Geopolitics is solved nuclear probably won't sell well for some time yet.

The man with 1 billion bitcoin

It was Wednesday afternoon and bitcoin just rose to $1 when the man decided to take a walk to the park.
8004  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm doing a Bitcoin mosaic for my school Art Project on: June 11, 2014, 12:59:18 AM
Try to do a mosaic of the QR code of your bitcoin address, it will take days to complete but maybe someone will reward you...  Grin
That would be something, never heard of a working mosiac QR code
I know that you can get them in large corn gardens to work though
So it would be neat  Cheesy
8005  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If You Get Food Poisoning At An Ethnic Restaurant You’re “Racist”…. on: June 11, 2014, 12:56:31 AM
Well actually I guess if you get food poisoning you shouldn't blame the Yelp users but look at the Kitchen of those restaurants
Anyways guess it serves as a warning be careful of what you eat
8006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 5 years from now on: June 11, 2014, 12:50:16 AM
Thinking five years from now I expect to see this in every store in the world and bitcointalk being a busy forum talking about technology and general stuff.
Kind of curious though what the forums will be like 5 years from now
Reddit Facebook Twitter Style or 4chan
Best case a Github
8007  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-10] ABC Australia: Virtual coin but taxation still real: ATO on Bitcoin on: June 11, 2014, 12:47:57 AM
Well I clicked on the article for some reason suspicious on newbie press with short urls but its real.

http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2014/s4021976.htm
Virtual coin, but taxation still real: ATO targets Bitcoin

Basically a conversation on Bitcoin regulation in Australia

Excrypt from article

CHRIS UHLMANN: The Australian Taxation Office has been grappling for years with the difficult question on how to classify the digital currency Bitcoin.

Freedom of Information documents obtained by AM show the tax office has been keeping a detailed watching brief on Bitcoin related issues and news.

The file shows a few years ago the agency was sceptical but soon realised that people could use internet currencies to avoid paying tax. Now it appears the tax office has got its head around digital currencies and is preparing to release rules on how it will treat Bitcoin transactions under taxation law.
8008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 11, 2014, 12:43:57 AM
Can you use martingale on sportsbetting events?

I guess you could but not on the same game, although in that case sportbooks would have odds so you could just try it with different results each time till you find the best scenario.
Martingaling the World Cup would be interesting all the way to the finals bracket unless you lost each time lol.
8009  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] PETAMINE - NEW IPO, NEW HARDWARE, 1,500 TH/S HASH RATE on: June 11, 2014, 12:42:05 AM
Quote
each RX-Box needs a 800W PSU, that is about $260(BTC0.4). So Rockminer: $1.5/gh, ~1.2w/gh.

That must be the most expensive 800w psu I've ever heard of.

You can use a cheap $10 modded server psu or a $50 atx psu should work fine.

Quote
And Petamine is under their way to reduce the power consumption, to ~0.75w/gh.

Once you add cooling it will end up around 1w/gh. (Assuming their cooling setup is relatively efficient)

It will only get better over time I'm sure. Cooling isn't that large I'm sure. Split up over a couple of petahash worth of miners I'm sure it won't be 0.25w/gh

Considering this is their current specification and they are recruiting developers and team members to make that generation more efficient I can see the old technology by gen standards getting a second life and improving as time passes by so these numbers may be for present but not the future Smiley
8010  Economy / Speculation / Re: At THE RALLY when will you sell? on: June 10, 2014, 11:17:27 AM
At the All time High or 20 to 50% above that level would be my selling price
However it depends on sentiment and how long it would take to refill that position
So disbursements variate
8011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Australian Tax Office to release new rules on transactions on: June 10, 2014, 07:09:13 AM
Also hoping for some clear fair regulations on Bitcoin transactions
Perhaps similar to a Canada ruling since they share similar policies in the commonwealth

"I think it's quite exciting that the tax office is actually recognising bitcoin," said Jason Williams, president of the Bitcoin Association of Australia.

"I really hope that the tax office identifies bitcoin as money and it is treated accordingly."

Something similar to taxable as capital gains if earned from speculation
Income if you run a bitcoin business
Property if your a miner etc.
8012  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If You Get Food Poisoning At An Ethnic Restaurant You’re “Racist”…. on: June 10, 2014, 07:05:38 AM
Well I certainly can see people getting stomach aches not eating something their not used to
Kind of like drinking whole milk after not drinking it in a long time
The body needs to adjust

That said Yelp reviewers do seem a bit racist blaming the food pretty sure its not always the ethnic place that gives you a bellyache
Could just be something else you ate that day however that said it may be the sanitation as Ron pointed out and its certainly not something that is to be ignored

Restaurant Rescue anyone
8013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Six blocks in 11 minutes! Bitcoin on steroids? on: June 10, 2014, 06:53:02 AM
I haven't heard of a six block solve in less than ten minutes
I think the average is 2 to 3 at most unless their is a big hash change
Think that means the difficulty will rise faster now or nothing will be solved for a while ?

8014  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the weirdest thing that happened to you today? on: June 10, 2014, 06:47:04 AM
Every morning I toss out pieces of bread, callingl the birds to come eat them (apologies for not being able to pen the actually call, but they know it's me and what's in store). I watch them from the window while waiting for the first pot of coffee to brew.

This morning, I witnessed a sparrow peck off a piece of bread, then walk/hop on over to a lone robin and offer it up an inch or two from its beak, whereupon the robin accepted the meal.

I witnessed the same thing last year, and pretty sure I've penned some post detailing said. I wasn't planning on relaying today's surreal event, but the weirdest thing just happened - I stumbled upon your thread.

Thanks, bud, for allowing me to share.

He-he Well I admit that it sounds more funner than your birds online lurker Smiley
It lacked a swimsuit
8015  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Solar Roadways... on: June 10, 2014, 06:42:28 AM
I would say that is a great idea and I'm glad it got funded by 200 % and more (Video made me go bah though)
There is one problem though intermittency the Sun is not always shining
Edit three problems
One it has to connect to the grid and retain power
Two we don't have enough materials to do it everywhere
Three How much energy and pollution is used to create the unit and what is B/E energy input energy used to produce the product over its lifecycle
That said I would love to see a future sci fi world where there are solar roadways that can generate energy on the grid and also somehow gain energy whenever a car moves.

Intelligent roadways are the future, especially in regard to cabling they made a good point about the overhead cables electric roads have good intelligent applications if you can link it to an electric car that said I like their hard work and perseverance story so its neat.
Not sure how many jobs it can replace though but a paradigm shift interesting i'm conflicted at it working but at the same time want someone to try it
8016  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the weirdest thing that happened to you today? on: June 10, 2014, 06:33:49 AM
Saw someone I was not expecting to see at the pool in a swimsuit
Bit dull but I'm sure someone out there had a more interesting day
8017  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm doing a Bitcoin mosaic for my school Art Project on: June 10, 2014, 06:31:58 AM

I like your Bitcoin symbol art project

The other I fuzes with the B so it works Smiley
8018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could London become the capital of cryptocurrencies? on: June 10, 2014, 06:27:19 AM
They have a long way to go to compete with the development in Canada
But that said the industry is young and their certainly is a possibility that they could rise up to the capital status
London is a historical financial hub and capital so if it becomes one for crypto as well that would be neat.
8019  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it my imagination or does Bitcoin tend to gravitate towards $666 on: June 10, 2014, 06:13:16 AM

The clonecoin business is just saturated. You throw a stone and it lands on some coin.

I think the hellcoin just died unlike some clonecoins and that explains why it didn't get listed
No exchange failed launch and not sure if it even has a client released.
That said it definitely is a saturated market just made by those looking to make a quick buck.
8020  Economy / Speculation / Re: My gut says... on: June 10, 2014, 06:10:00 AM
Look at the pattern: this looks just like the consolidation period after the April '13 bubble.
We might have one or two red candle weeks before the next spike, but it is coming.

This sentiment is similar to the one I have its a consolidation period before a price spike
Considering we were sideways for a long time before the price started to rise this makes the most sense
That said markets are irrational in which case hopefully the indicators will reveal themselves in time to react quickly to price changes
