Rumors are that Kyle Lowry is about to sign a deal with the Miami Heat. This is a bit surprising to me, but I guess that is as close to a contender as he could get. I know he really wanted to win a ring and play with his friend Derozan again (they still talk on the phone daily). Maybe we’ll see Derozan try to make his way to Miami as well, but I’ve heard nothing to indicate that.
8002  Economy / Speculation / Re: TESLA will re-accept bitcoin & SpaceX owns BTC, said Elon Musk. Ready for pump ? on: August 02, 2021, 09:20:12 PM
I need a new car. I had hoped to wait for the cybertruck but my dodge might not survive that long. I’d probably sell it and buy a low end model 3 if they accepted Bitcoin. Since they don’t, maybe I’ll look around for some fun electric motorcycle or something to bridge my time gap. Would love to toss a coin to my Elon for a 3 though.

OP should throw up a poll on who is the next likely big name to change teams.  I'm curious what people think, although it would probably need to be edited or something as people are actually traded.  A lot of big names on the trading block right now though.  Some of them off the top of my head...

Kyle Lowry
Demar Derozan
Mike Conley
Lonza Ball
Dwight Howard
Chris Paul
Kawhi Leonard
Rudy Gay
Kemba Walker
Victor Oladipo
Spencer Dinwiddie
Andre Iguodala
Carmelo Anthony
Jeff Green
Tim Hardaway Jr
Dennis Schroder

Chris Paul and Kawhi Leonard both declined their player options for the upcoming season. While Kawhi is likely to resign with the Clippers for more money, there is no way in hell Chris Paul will be able to get anywhere near his player option. That basically means he’s leaving probably $10 million plus on the table to leave the Suns. An odd move for a guy who was just in the Finals for the first time. I’m guessing he wants to pick where he plays next… Only destination I see him wanting to go to is the Lakers to play alongside his friends LeBron and possibly Carmelo.
8005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much of your total capital is in crypto? on: August 01, 2021, 09:21:56 PM
Because I am crypto lover so most of my money is of course here (crypto), yes maybe more than 70%. Why? because I believe that crypto will give me a very bright future

I believe I also have somewhere around 70% of my funds in crypto.  Although this is less by choice and more the result of an ever increasing market rate.  My goal is to end the year closer to 50% of my funds being in crypto, but we'll see how that goes.  Unfortunately, there isn't many good places to park funds these days.  The housing market in the US is crazy overvalued, stocks are at all time highs, bonds aren't keeping pace with inflation, and silver/gold aren't performing as they should be.  When used cars are making the best investment returns, it obvious the entire financial system is messed up.  All you can really do is just keep trying to diversify and hope that when the shit hits the fan some of your assets are able to protect you, or sit in cash and get eaten by inflation in order to avoid missing a chair when the music stops.

^Let's be honest guys, we are going to see some more veterans signing cheap contracts with both Nets and Lakers at the same time. We AAAALLL want to see that Lakers versus Nets matchup in the finals with everyone 100% healthy at that point as well. If everyone is healthy and playing with 100% then we are going to be quite happy about the current situation and we are going to be basically watching the best finals overall talent in a long time.

There was a moment when GSW vs Cavs was good because Cavs actually played good, aside from that we haven't seen as many talents in one finals as a potential Lakers vs Nets finals. 6 players (lebron, ad, westbrook, durant, harden, irving) that could be in top 20, we do not get that too frequently and it will be awesome.

Ya, it looks like Demar Derozan, Kyle Lowry, Chris Paul, Buddy Hield & Dwight Howard are all trying to find their way to the Lakers.  I think it's somewhat unlikely for most of them, except maybe Dwight Howard who I thought they desperately missed this year.  I am still in a bit of shock they let him go for next to nothing while signing Harrel to a crazy deal.  That must have had more to do with LeBron's management and the Lakers wanting to keep him happy then it did with basketball.  With Westbrook, I think they have enough to go to the finals, but I'd really like to see them grab Howard and Hield.
8007  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Poll] At what point will you stop complying with Covid restrictions? on: July 31, 2021, 11:58:13 PM
When we're talking about vaccine, what do you think will happen to you if you get vaccinated? out of curiosity.

I think you’ll be setting the stage for getting vaccinated every 6 months for the rest of your life while simultaneously weakening the human race’s natural immunity response to threats making us as a species less likely to survive coming threats while becoming increasingly dependent on government to keep us alive.
There is definitely no scientific basis for taking the vaccine every six months. The death rate for the new variant is below that of the Flu, although it is more contagious. There might be an argument for someone who is vulnerable to get vaccinated regularly, but not the general population.

Over time there will be more variations and they will become less deadly. I don’t think many people will be willing to get vaccinated more than once. Trust in public health officials is too low, and trust that politicians will not impose restrictions on the vaccinated won’t be there.

The way the media is inciting fear I think it is somewhat reasonable to expect a lot of people to want to protect themselves and their families by just going along with the norm. Now that a lot of jobs are requiring it, many people don’t even have a choice. I think it’s somewhat important for those of us with a choice to exercise that choice so that society doesn’t get too comfortable with mandates.

Big rumor of the day is that Lonzo Ball is about to secure an $80 million dollar contract from the Chicago Bulls. The Pelicans made him an offer so he’s a restricted free agent, but they’re unlikely to match that in my opinion. All bad news for the Pelicans as they should be trying to keep Zion happy and Zo was good friends with him. Makes you wonder where Zion will end up when his deal is over.
8009  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 31, 2021, 01:28:32 AM
If Cathie Wood says Bitcoin is going up to $500K, you would be wise to listen. She’s got the fundraising ability to drive that price or near it with her investment funds and influence. Between her saying 500 and Michael Saylor saying he’ll buy forever, my $200K prediction is starting to feel mild by comparison.
8010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: July 31, 2021, 01:25:34 AM
Lakers looking likely to sign Rudy Gay or Carmelo Anthony soon according to rumors… I can’t deny it, I would love to see LeBron and Carmelo playing side by side on the same team. If only Chris Paul could find his way there…. They could get Wade out of retirement and you’d have the Banana Boys back in yellow. Plus, how many times would we hear the LeBron saving Melo from drowning story?
8011  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] MINING POOLS, ART BOOK IN ASSC. W/ NASTYFANS ⭐️BITCOIN STORE STAFF PICK⭐️ on: July 30, 2021, 10:34:54 PM
Over the years I've been asked several times about this book and where to purchase it.  We had to remove it from our shop after losing contact with photonresearch.  This is unfortunate because a lot of these images have gone unseen.  I purchased the images from the shoot and used a few of them on my Bitpic project, but a very limited number of people have seen the entire collection of photos.  In order to rectify this tragedy of artistic excellence, I am considering offering the images for sale as NFTs.  If you are interested in potentially bidding on or viewing the collection, shoot me a personal message and I will attempt to keep you informed.
8012  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: July 30, 2021, 07:31:42 PM
Also, on another note: For an upcoming video segment that's going to be filmed tomorrow (surprise!), we're going to read out loud a list of usernames we've all probably read in our inside voice wrong the whole time!
Got any ideas? Should we start another thread for this?

I’d toss it out there that my username is pronounced like aug-nasty not O.G. Nasty like some of the kids on this forum like to say.  Cheesy  It has led to some funny accusations and confusion in the past. I think a lot of people probably pronounce Casascius wrong as well. I know I did for many years.

8014  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Step aside, Tesla. Nevera has arrived! on: July 30, 2021, 04:03:47 AM
At that price it’s obviously no competitor to Tesla. I saw the last Tesla competitor just had it’s CEO arrested for fraud and ended up losing billions in shareholder value. I think competition from Tesla needs to come from the big boys with deep pockets. Tesla is hot at the right time and taking advantage. As you can see from their stock’s extreme P/E ratio, investors are expecting quite the growth explosion.

You can feel the accumulation happening. The next leg up is going to be a big one. Hold onto your seats ladies and gentlemen. The train is loading up and ready to leave the station. All eyes on 100K for the next stop. I think the next few months are going to be a climax of sorts.
8016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season Champion: Milwaukee Bucks on: July 30, 2021, 12:43:11 AM
The Lakers are crazy… This Westbrook deal has to make them the favorites again. They need to figure out why Drummond didn’t work and fix that problem in the middle as well as add a shooter, but I think this Lakers team is going to make the Nets wait another year before they get to hoist a title with this lineup if they can all stay healthy.
8017  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I don't object to a Covid immunity passport. on: July 29, 2021, 11:12:08 PM
I identify as vaccinated. That should be good enough to please the liberal coward crowd pushing this nonsense. If anyone doesn’t feel like identifying as vaccinated isn’t good enough then you should be cancelled, lose your job, your reputation, and be terrorized on social media. That’s how it works right?
8018  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ConspiracyPRO : they need to inject everyone to destroy proof of control group. on: July 29, 2021, 09:03:34 PM
I like how when asked about the numbers involving how many people have had the vaccine and have gotten sick, the government’s response was, “why do you need that information?” The government is sick. Their actions cowardly, and now they’re hiding the results because it would be enraging to the public to learn the truth…
8019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season Champion: Milwaukee Bucks on: July 29, 2021, 09:00:19 PM
Lakers are getting close to a deal for Kyle Kuzma. Looks like they’ll have to choose if they want to get Buddy Hield or Demar Derozan. I think Derozan is probably the way to go because he’ll likely bring Kyle Lowry with him, but I think Buddy Hield is a much better fit with LeBron. Still, if you have the chance to add 2 future hall of gamers to your lineup, you should probably take it.
8020  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: A strange idea of labeling bitcoins on: July 28, 2021, 07:23:35 PM
They could start their own pools and reward miners with a unique altcoin or NFTs or something. The question is what demand would there be for such a token/coin? That’s what makes exchanges somewhat special, they bring demand for their own coin by accepting it for exchange fees. I guess a mining pool could rent hashrate using their own coin, but that would be quite a gamble and I’m not sure it would be as utilized or profitable.
