8021  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: June 18, 2021, 10:23:22 PM
It looks like a lot of the cards in the OP are still listed as being only available to European citizens. Coinbase definitely now allows Americans to have their Debit Card (I have one) and they offer 1% back in BTC or 4% back in XLM.  The card looks quite nice, although I still prefer the look and feel of my Apple Card.  Getting crypto back for spending fiat is great though and I've finally found a reason to hold a stablecoin (considered fiat in this statement).  There wasn't any cost associated with receiving the card and no fees, so I don't see why anyone with a Coinbase account wouldn't have one of these sitting around.

8022  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] NastyFans Minted Seats (for the Minted Seat Collective) on: June 18, 2021, 09:48:17 PM
With the way the BTC price has decided to move recently these are ridiculously cheap!  Don't be shocked if I place some bids tomorrow to add to my personal collection. Shocked

I'm not sure what the thoughts are about me bidding on this auction, but I think given that I am auctioning these on behalf of Minted Seat owners, I don't see why anyone would take issue with more funds being raised or me wanting to purchase these coins due to the fact that I have to purchase them from the NastyShop just like everyone else.  Not saying I'm for sure going to be placing more bids, but it is a strong possibility.  If for any reason this bothers you, you may withdraw prior bids or withstand the urge to participate. Smiley

Good luck!
8023  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius Coin 1BTC on: June 18, 2021, 06:36:37 PM
I have a 1 BTC Casascius coin and want some advice.

What would the the average price be for this coin in BTC?

Is it worth putting it into a crypto exchange and earn interest on that, or should I keep it closed?

Price depends on which year coin it is, what it's made out of, the condition it's in, and the current market sentiment towards these collectibles.

I wouldn't peel it to move it to an exchange for interest.  Literally these coins are made so you don't have to store your BTC in some 3rd party holding solution.  You'd be adding liabilities for very little reward.

I think when it comes to Casascius coins you have 3 options.  Peel the coin and cash out the BTC (then sell the peeled coin).  Sell the coin in tact for above the held value.  Hold onto the coin until you're ready to cash out.  Peeling to get low interest wouldn't be an option for me because you'd probably get more selling it in tact anyway (depending on your hold time with the interest), and you'd be opening yourself up to more liability.  The only reasons I could see someone doing this is if you didn't trust Casascius anymore, or you wanted to diversify your passive income more than you want to invest in a collectible.
8024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: June 18, 2021, 06:29:27 PM
Any thoughts on how many games Chris Paul will miss in the next round?  Will he miss any at all?  Can the Suns win without him?

I'd be curious on results of a poll about how many games Chris Paul will miss.  I haven't followed the news as much as I'd like, but it seems like he's been in quarantine for a while and was already vaccinated.  If even vaccinated people have to spend weeks out of work due to protocol, it sort of makes you wonder how effective the vaccine is in the first place and what the point of it is...
8025  Other / Meta / Re: Signature spam - how to force users to read before replying? on: June 18, 2021, 06:26:06 PM
The only ways to stop signature spam is for the forum to take control of signature advertising, or for campaign managers to start being held accountable.  If campaign managers have more strict standards of entry, these spammers would find that after a while they aren't getting any kind of return on their time spent.  That's the only way they'll ever stop.  Some of these spammers are probably happy to make less than a dollar a day.  You can't fight that sort of thing with moderation.

I would suggest campaign managers stop accepting new users based on who posts on their [OPEN] threads and start actually seeking out real established members of the community to advertise signature campaigns.  It's ridiculous the way it's currently being done.  It is crystal clear that entire process has been setup so that advertisers don't have to be involved and campaign managers can spend the least amount of time possible finding participants and making payments.  I'm not out to get campaign managers, but the source of this problem is easily identifiable and nothing is going to change until they start being held accountable, as I doubt they're going to take it among themselves to start spending more time actually finding decent participants that post here for legitimate reasons.  Even the way that campaigns are paid by posts and not by views is clearly an invite for spam.  Not a lot of thought was put into how signature campaigns are run here and it shows.
8026  Other / Meta / Re: Where to post about a new futures exchange on: June 18, 2021, 06:18:06 PM
Service Announcements seems like the right place if you're trying to let users know that you're offering a new service for them to try out.  Exchanges seems like a section for a more established project, or perhaps you could have a thread in each place, one as an announcement and one to give continued updates on the project.  Before it's released, you could also post in the Project Development section if you're trying to get feedback from developers or help resolving potential issues from those experienced in that area.
8027  Other / Meta / Re: Bug in “Most Time Online” stats? on: June 18, 2021, 06:15:13 PM
apparently not, at least according to hilariousandco's answer on one of these threads. you might want to check these threads below. you might find your answer there.

Is it a bug?
The forum stats are wrong! @theymos check it out, please.
"Total time logged in" bug and accounts with long time logged in

found this answer from hilariousandco
Probably not. Some people use bots or auto-refresh tools etc so it will skew their actual logged in time considerably.

Regardless of why it's happening, it is very clearly a bug since it is presenting the wrong information.  We can choose to ignore the bug since it appears the source has been identified, but it is obviously not properly recording time logged in.  I don't think these stats matter, nor do I care if it's correct.  Call a spade a spade though.  This is most definitely a bug.  It appears it's been a known bug for a while, so it is either low priority and very far down the todo list, or nobody in a position to correct the bug cares.  Take your pick.

Take a look at the proper format, for example, how everyone else submitted theirs.
Done. I edited the post above.

You can't paste in stuff from someone else's message.  That's not how encryption works.  I'm just going to hit the ignore button so I don't waste more of my time trying to help you as you take half assed shortcuts to try and get merit without learning anything.
8029  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: which pools are offering merged mining? on: June 18, 2021, 07:16:44 AM
An old topic, but I’m curious if anyone has a list of pools that payout Namecoin from merged mining to their miners?
8030  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-Vax Nurse's Attempt To Prove COVID Vaccines Make People Magnetic Backfires on: June 17, 2021, 10:01:44 PM
I think stunts like this are done to make anti-vax people look stupid, thus invalidating any argument they have.  Like she wouldn't have tried that with the key before her presentation...  You'd literally have to be an idiot to believe that other people are this stupid.  This is what we've come to.  False flags everywhere.  Government saying what you can do and where you can go as a result of a virus that I would willingly expose myself to without fear.

If you didn't believe the world was run by old men before the Coronavirus, it should be blatantly obvious to you now if you have a brain.
8031  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS - LeBron James PSA Graded Card Lot - Rookies, Numbered (11 Cards) BGS PSA on: June 17, 2021, 09:50:14 PM
2008 Topps Kobe Bryant w/ LeBron James #24 PSA 8 - 1,000$

That's a pretty cool card.  I didn't know it existed.  I might have to hunt one down for myself.

Good luck on your sale offer.  Definitely cool stuff.  I'm not sure how many basketball fans we have around these parts, but that doesn't take away from the value here.

I remember a few years ago I passed on a limited edition Upper Deck framed signed picture of LeBron doing a massive dunk over Jason Terry.  I still see an empty spot on my wall every day as a result.

If you do need to accept escrow, I'd be happy to offer it for you.  I also wouldn't mind performing middleman shipping services, so I could get a look at these bad boys in person myself, and of course verify everything is on the up and up for the buyer.  Smiley

Wow.  Totally awesome.  Glad I stumbled upon this picture.  Did you meet and hang out with him?  Did you take that picture?  If so, you are a legend.

I suspect one of these days I'll see something on this thread I must have.  The older silk road designs are pretty cool.  I'll make sure to keep checking back every so often.  Keep up the great work and again, awesome picture of Tommy.  I'd love to meet him someday outside of a comedy club (I've seen him perform several times in different sized venues with either his wife or Mr. Marin performing with him).
8033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much power does Elon still have over the crypto markets? on: June 17, 2021, 09:38:41 PM
Elon's only "power" in crypto is whether or not Tesla accepts it.  He wants to milk that goose for attention as long as he can.  I suspect that he thought there would be more applause and a bigger show when Tesla started accepting Bitcoin, and in my opinion it was his expectations not being met with respect to his own limelight that made him stop accepting BTC, not environmental concerns.  You can bet when Tesla does decide to start accepting BTC again, it will be a giant spectacle meant only to stroke Elon's ego.  I can't wait.
8034  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance Tax Reporting on: June 17, 2021, 09:36:05 PM
Why don't you try to ask your local tax manager or legal practicer? That should reduce the chance of misinformation and you can easily ask them more without being limited by text communication.

Crypto is pretty new and a lot of tax managers don't fully understand it yet.  I think that you should probably do your own research and educate yourself first, so that you can confirm your findings with a tax professional and make sure that you are both on the same page.

Blindly going to a tax manager about a complex new issue might result in them being overly cautious and costing you money.  I think walking into a tax office and telling them you need help with your taxes without already having an idea what you should owe is a little like asking a barber if you need a haircut.

When I was browsing beginners section I found this thread. I will try to sign a message with electrum wallet.

edit:

Address: I’m jurkan, it's 16/06/2021 and I can sign a message.

I hope I was right. If not then please guide me.

That is most certainly not correct, but I was able to decrypt your additional layer of security by using the incorrect labels for your signature items.  For example, I'm pretty sure your Bitcoin address isn't, "I’m jurkan, it's 16/06/2021 and I can sign a message."

8037  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] NastyFans Minted Seats (for the Minted Seat Collective) on: June 17, 2021, 09:23:41 PM
Thanks for the bids so far.  Looks like we're getting close to the end of this auction over the weekend.  I would like to advise users to not wait until the last second to place bids.  There was a bit of a disappointment in a last second bid attempt in my last auction.  I know it's fun to snipe, but don't snipe yourself out of a great deal!

It was awesome seeing so many Minted Seats in one spot as a result of this giveaway.  Even better knowing they're all going to find homes and be enjoyed for many years to come.  Good luck!
8038  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ENDED] NastyFans Minted Seats (from giveaway) on: June 17, 2021, 09:20:15 PM
Are there any still awaiting payment?  If so are they going to go up for another auction?

Nope.  All of these coins have been paid for and the last one was prepared to ship this morning.

There are 2 other auctions that are happening from the giveaway.  The first is already going on.  It is for coins won by the "Minted Seat Collective" and all proceeds from this auction will be distributed only among Minted Seats.  If you're a Minted Seat owner, you should be cheering on this auction: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5343798.0

The final auction from the giveaway will take place once nonnakip has tried every means to contact winners and given them plenty of time to respond.  If there is no response, we will auction the coins that aren't spoken for and distribute the funds to the entire club.

I'm going to lock this thread now in order to not distract from the auction that is currently taking place.
8039  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who were the morons that bought 60k bitcoin? on: June 17, 2021, 08:53:48 AM
Those buying Bitcoin at the highs are rarely considered morons for long. You have to remember that people like you were calling them morons for buying Bitcoin at $30, $1,100, $20,000, and now, $60,000… Makes you wonder who the next morons will be and at what price they’ll be called morons for buying…

Just trying to give you some perspective.
8040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: June 16, 2021, 10:55:27 PM
Chris Paul being out for Covid restrictions indefinitely puts a pretty big question mark on the Suns future in these playoffs. Hopefully the week long break and fact that’s he’s been vaccinated will get him back quickly. I’m actually not expecting him to miss more than one game, if that, but you never know. If he’s carrying a fever it could be all bets off for the Suns.
