8043  Economy / Speculation / Re: 50% increase and everyone thinks 10k (again) on: June 09, 2014, 04:41:04 AM
Markets are fast to move in Bitcoin when they move but I know that feeling
Sitting around 600 then 500 then 400 then quickly going up to 650 again
Price changes are fast
8044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really like RT news! the great bitcoin promoter! on: June 08, 2014, 07:16:33 AM
rt is way more reputable than the american main stream media

Are you kidding me? American media are full of shit of course, but RT is something from the highest, unreachable level of lying.

Except when its not lying which is the weird thing it is just the clearly spoken truth it may not be the truth people want to hear but it certainly is
Take this Propaganda clip on Paris Hilton for example it may seem critical even bias but nonetheless they hit the nail on the head

8045  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-04] Novello starts $4.2m Indiegogo campaign for "ultra low cost" ASICs on: June 08, 2014, 07:11:39 AM
I think that they set the bar way to high for what you can expect of an indiegogo campaign
I will admit that the top bar is 10.5 Million + to my knowledge for the Ubuntu Edge didn't check the end value for it
That said ASIC mining may be to new to the users over there to get behind.

8046  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What to buy and what to mine on: June 07, 2014, 11:16:09 PM
I think he meant what coins should he try mining and what coins he should use money to buy
In that case I would say buy bitcoin and mine an easier to get coin that has a good value
That said it's hard to determine what is the best deal to mine so I would recommend looking at their market caps and making a decision on what looks like it has potential and what does not.

8047  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn some Bitcoins on: June 07, 2014, 11:13:16 PM
Buy and hold bitcoins.

This and then store the bitcoins in a secure place and watch them appreciate or use a service like Just-Dice as an investor and take a bit of risk on the profits of people using the service.
8048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC In Afghanistan? ... it's 100% ripe right now on: June 07, 2014, 11:00:30 PM
I was listening to NPR this morning heard the following story:
http://www.npr.org/2014/06/05/319030334/afghans-must-pass-anti-money-laundering-law-or-face-blacklist

The international community has told Afghans to fix their banks and pass anti-money laundering legislation by June 22. If officials fail to do so, the country will be badlisted for five years.

Currently Afghans are having major difficulties with international money transfers as the banking system tightens the screws in order to make sure that the country votes the way the banks wish.  [shame on them]   This has resulted in many businesses frantically running around trying to find ways to do international transfers in order to do their imports.   The established money transfer businesses are racking up, rates have climbed upwards of 80% over bank rates.   This is a MAJOR opportunity for BTC business to make a major move over there.

Anyone here know anyone over there?

No I do not know anyone in Afghanistan

That said I do know that if a country is disconnected from Swift and the general financial system it becomes extremely difficult for citizens in that country to acquire and access money.

This is a real problem and it does seem forced from the Financial Action Task Force on currencies.

He says, the blacklisting would not only starve the people of food, fuel and medicine; it would starve the government of a vitally needed source of revenue. And he would be entirely correct if you look at Iran you can see there are two markets for the rial the Central Bank rate and the actual rate, trading for goods and services are complicated and it would mean that alternative solutions to bypass these boycotts for normal citizens would need to be enacted.

Mobile Banking and Bitcoin would play a big role in economic stability over there and allow students to not need to worry about having their accounts shut down by Chase Bank or National Bank of America.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ryan-costello/why-is-bank-of-america-cl_b_5330851.html

It would need to be done through SMS though as their would be internet problems there. Example 37coins to throw an idea of how it could work.
8049  Economy / Speculation / Re: 50% increase and everyone thinks 10k (again) on: June 07, 2014, 10:54:25 PM
Well another question is how much the price of electricity is to generate a Bitcoin presently is around $500-600
It should probably rise a bit more with all the merchant adoption over the last few weeks
I would say to look forward to a rise from here but your right it might not be a multiple of 6 to 7 but realistically around 2 to 2.5
8050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really like RT news! the great bitcoin promoter! on: June 07, 2014, 10:49:04 PM
i find it so weird that russia has been pretty anti bitcoin with its laws and regulations,  yet a news outlet owned by russia promotes bitcion.  Go figure Smiley

To me it has been quite the interesting paradox strong promotions on Russian television with Keiser and his Maxcoin(Died) and Bitcoin in General and yet an attitude in Russia that suggests the opposite Smiley.
(He-He that said Elwar has a good point and I never considered it that way)
I will admit that I am a Max Keiser fan and a person who enjoys watching RT sometimes the Russian promotion gets a bit heavy, but it provides a strong critical analysis to Western Media and is refreshing in the way it expands your perspective.

Oh boy now this is going to get interesting.
I'll congratulate you Phineas for becoming a platinum member of the bitcoin foundation, and look forward to seeing your work.

#Edit kept reading and now I see what you did there
8054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [IDEA] Print paper wallets on pocket printer. on: June 07, 2014, 10:29:38 PM
To my knowledge there is no current option to print paper wallets on a pocket printer
That said I think someone will run with this idea soon enough
It comes in handy especially with one way ATM machines where you need paper wallets to get new people who don't have a Bitcoin QR code to load Bitcoins onto.
8055  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it my imagination or does Bitcoin tend to gravitate towards $666 on: June 07, 2014, 10:17:35 PM
$666 seems to actually have transitioned into a resitance level, rather than a price to gravitate to. Every time we reach it, we now get knocked back down...

Perhaps if we all ask for the divine to kick that number out of the way the price will go above it
That said if it is resistance then it might make a good buy in point since its easy to remember
What is your average buy in price oh around $666
8056  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Edward Snowden calls for greater online privacy in Reset the Net campaign on: June 07, 2014, 10:13:39 PM
Most of them are not selling their data to the spooks. Most countries have laws that require companies operating in them to respond to warranted requests. Most of these organisations fit into that category. At the end of the day, even Lavabit eventually handed over some data albeit the most creative way I have seen so far.

Noone wants to go to jail to protect your data flow. Given the right amount of motivation, all operators of systems will cave in and allow access. This is why the onus is on us to use end to end encrypted methods of data storage and transmission.

Actually your right if they don't participate they will be shut down I recall a social media site owner choosing to close his service instead of giving information to the Feds about its activities and that was Lavabit although they have my respect for doing that and I would consider using any companies the guy makes in the future.

Anyways your right the onus is on us to figure out how to get past the government snooping to a personal level, and allow internet communication to remain free.

That said reading the Wiki the gov is pretty crazy

8057  Other / Off-topic / Re: The 666 joke is old...and lame on: June 07, 2014, 10:02:47 PM
420; the smallest number divisible by 1 through 7

What about 210?

I don't think 4 is a factor of 210.

Doh.  My calculator must have malfunctioned...   Undecided

Nice try Vod Can't Always Math perfectly all the time ^_^
8058  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Thought I would post some positive news :) U.S. Banks to charge for deposits on: June 07, 2014, 09:52:08 PM
Well I guess that means people will need to start supporting the economy at least that's what the banking system thinks.
On the other hand I see this as an opportunity that Bitcoin can use to get people to start creating industries around it
Anyways believe the EU is doing it if the US does it is a different question as niothor pointed out
8059  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it true? is The Fed and DEBT-Based Fiat dollars ultimately doomed to fail ?? on: June 07, 2014, 09:44:46 PM
That's an open question but yes in theory an inflation rate that does not have any economic strength backing it or a standard to replace it will in due time collapse. It does not happen immediately though, the Soviet Union went three generations before their currency system collapsed and the United States is struggling in this generation but if it is doomed to fail is another question. Then theirs the Euro which is recent but already has problems, a mixed economy like China might be able to handle those two extremes but it is not yet proven through time although it looks pretty strong now.
8060  Economy / Securities / Re: Neo & Bee talk (spam free thread) on: June 07, 2014, 09:40:57 PM
Does anyone know whats going on with neo bee? Its good in theory but why they have to rob people when they got a good business.

I am sure Danny had enough of the big project and now thats it, over. Same as Karpeles. What they seem not to understand is they ruin peoples lives in serious ways. When they are living on luxury.

And they could not give a damn.

they didn't have a good business. They had an idea that may have turned into a good business, but they didn't do anything with it (except rob people).

That is about right, basically Neobee had a nice fancy press release got coverage put it in a neat Google Document then a few days later while people were in Euphoria Danny said he was being threatened and sold the company to someone, then delisted the exchange and shut down the company. So it looks pretty much like a scam at this point, had a lot of coverage from all over the Bitcoin sphere too.
