8041  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Missed out on bitcoin, please make me a plan now on: February 16, 2021, 11:12:14 AM
1. So I have an account in Kraken. I live in Scandinavia and I don't know how long it takes to get a harware wallet sent here. Obviously there is no wallet in Kraken, just the exchange part. So if I buy say 10-20 000k of cryptos where should I transfer the money? I've tried to read this and obviously there's online wallets, I guess that's better than nothing. So do I open an online wallet and what do you recommend?

It depends on which hardware wallet you want to order - Ledger is from France, Trezor from the Czech Republic - and everything within the EU should be delivered within 7 working days, although it should be taken into account that shipments could be delayed due to all pandemic measures. Alternatively, you can check on the manufacturer's website to see if there are any official resellers in your country, which can significantly reduce delivery times.

Since you have in mind to invest a larger amount of money, the recommendations would definitely be to invest $50 + in a hardware wallet as it would be the safest and easiest thing to do. Of course, there is also the paper wallet option, but this is usually done with funds that you store for a long time - and the process itself is not easy if you want it to be made completely correctly and without risk. The third option is the so-called cold wallet - it means that you install a desktop wallet on a device that does not have an internet connection.

8042  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for 4 hires for a job [ 20 USD a day] on: February 15, 2021, 03:07:05 PM
OP has a very bad history of offers for similar jobs - and now obviously looking for people to send spam emails. I don’t think anyone likes to receive such messages, so if he wants to send them, let him send them himself.

From the history of similar offers :

Beware of this person...

This is Job Description:
Marios will chat you and he want you to Make a SPAM email to Youtuber who have 20K - 200K subscriber with ownership offer estimate 80.000 USD...

BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!!
8043  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Missed out on bitcoin, please make me a plan now on: February 15, 2021, 02:20:37 PM
No one missed the opportunity to buy Bitcoin, there is enough for anyone who wants it at the moment. What people find hard to come to terms with is the fact that the price is now almost $50 000, and until a few months ago it was even 5 times lower.

How do you make a plan now that will fix the situation in terms of taking things back? I see only two options here - invest now regardless of the price and believe that the bull run will continue - or wait for a new big correction that should happen as every time so far - or maybe not.

As I see it the current situation is that Bitcoin is increasingly positioned as something that only the rich can afford (by which I mean some significant amounts), while the average Joe conflicts with the numbers in his head with how it is possible that his $100 can now buy only 0.002 BTC. Until Joe waits for a better opportunity, for the same amount of dollars he could soon get only 0.001 BTC...
8044  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Lendefi - Scams, Blackmail, Extortion, & Murder - This will shock you! 💥💥💥 on: February 15, 2021, 01:53:12 PM
Personally, I am not surprised by things like this, because apart from the fact that people are very forgetful, on the other hand, it is very easy to start all over again in the online world. Fortunately, there are people who expose things like this, and it's good for the public to know who is behind a project - and if everything in the OP is correct, then it's relatively easy to conclude how that project will end.

It's 2017 all over again at 10x the speed

So it seems, only the name has changed - but the modus operandi has remained exactly the same - projects that promise a lot, and behind them are the same ones that ran ICO scams a few years ago.
8045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking For Best Self Hosted Crypto Wallet on: February 15, 2021, 11:54:52 AM
I will not contradict others when they recommend a hardware wallet, it is one of the safest ways to keep our private keys in the most secure environment. All you have to do is save the backup in at least 2 or three copies in safe places (preferably different locations), and always check that any information on the screen of the device is identical to what we see in the user interface.

I'm not looking to buy/sell crypto and profit USD, I'm looking for a wallet that holds my crypto that I can use to trade/exchange. Any info would be appreciated.

If you have no problem making KYC, Ledger gives you the option to trade directly through Ledger Live via Coinify exchange - but keep in mind that in that case the fees are probably a bit higher than in the case of Coinbase. Also pay attention to the list of countries where this exchange is available.
8046  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Emotional scam attempt. on: February 15, 2021, 11:31:26 AM
In this particular case, it is almost impossible to determine if someone is telling the truth, or if the whole story was fabricated with the intention of making a profit. When I hear that communication through the Telegram is involved in everything, I really doubt the truth of the whole story - because that platform has long since become a paradise for scammers.

I'm sure there are those who really need help, but most of them will never seek help this way - and we should also be aware that scammers are constantly finding new methods. I stopped using Telegram a long time ago, time is too precious to waste it on unknown people trying to deceive us in one way or another.
8047  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet Valentines deal on: February 15, 2021, 11:08:48 AM
Interesting wallet. It is a Trezor wallet with a different design.
Would you put your life savings in Corazon wallet? Can we be sure there are not modifications to trezor software and firmware?

As you say yourself, it is 100% Trezor inside, and the only thing that is different is the design of the case which they claim was made of "aerospace grade titanium". You use that HW just like any other Trezor, and if you trust the Trezor, there's no reason to doubt the Corazon that was made in collaboration with Gray&Trezor.

The only small problem may be the price ranging from at least $1000 all the way up to $2000 for the gold version. In fact, the real question is not whether someone should trust this device - but whether it makes sense to pay so much for it.
8048  Other / Meta / Re: Ref link not deleted for 5 days? on: February 15, 2021, 10:50:55 AM
I remembered opening a thread promoting my website in the same subforum (although I mentioned clearly there were affiliate links that gave out bonuses) and got served a 3-days suspension sometime later.

This is the first time I've reported a ref link in that board without the mods deleting it - obviously this user has some special status that doesn't apply to everyone else. Personally, I think that this sends the wrong message to everyone else that we are not all equal on the forum.

I'd be interested to know the verdict of this discussion. Referrals get paid 100% of their earnings but they might have to give their emails for verification and future promotional materials from the mailing list of the OP, otherwise I wonder if he'd manually PM those that joined under him.

I also think it has to do with him/her not getting anything in exchange for getting referrals [like what the above two users mentioned] but I find it strange that if ABitBack is giving back 100% of those earnings, then why there's a big difference between the "total commissions earned through referrals" and the "total shared amount with referrals" [am I missing something or he/she is misleading others?]?

It is not true that ABitBack does not benefit from giving 100% ref earnings back, because this faucet has a weekly lottery with very generous prizes, and every claim of his referral brings him a free ticket + rewards points which can be exchanged for various prizes. Furthermore, recently this faucet also offers tokens - and ABitBack uses a special ref link to earn extra money.

It seems that after the presented evidence, one of the mods decided to delete the entire thread instead of removing ref links.

8049  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Email extortion/blackmail for Bitcoin. on: February 14, 2021, 03:21:46 PM
I think the only way to protect ourselves in the future is a whole new approach to how we treat our personal information. Every day we can read that a database has been hacked and there are no more rules whether it is a lesser-known food ordering service or companies that, paradoxically, provide services related to online security. Just a few days ago, the news spread on the Internet that the largest database ever had been made public - and it contains as many as 3.2 billion records. Be sure to check that your information is also publicly available and take appropriate action to protect your online accounts.

It’s being called the biggest breach of all time and the mother of all breaches: COMB, or the Compilation of Many Breaches, contains more than 3.2 billion unique pairs of cleartext emails and passwords. While many data breaches and leaks have plagued the internet in the past, this one is exceptional in the sheer size of it. To wit, the entire population of the planet is at roughly 7.8 billion, and this is about 40% of that.
8050  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet Valentines deal on: February 14, 2021, 02:42:11 PM
anyone know which hardware wallet offers beautiful cases or designs, or all offers are price discounts?

Would you buy a hardware wallet just for the design? If you are really looking for something special, I suggest you visit this thread, and pay special attention to the Corazon which really has a very nice design but also a very nice price Wink
8051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Using Binance in New York. on: February 14, 2021, 02:24:02 PM
have you tried this Binance US?

Binance.US is a special version of biannce that was created for the USA citizens, so you should have no troubble using it.

Follow as they advise above and use binance.us, there is no need to bypass anything, if you cant access, don't take a risk, instead, use decentralized exchange that surely never required KYC.

and all others members, before giving advice, it would be wise to inform yourself, because the fact that a company operates in the US does not mean that its service is available in all federal states. OP is from NY, and binance.us is not available in that state.

Binance.US accounts are NOT available to users residing in the following states: Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, New York, Texas, Vermont
8052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Stablecoin is the most Trustworthy? on: February 14, 2021, 02:00:50 PM
The only correct question I would ask anyone who wonders if stablecoins are something trustworthy is to ask themselves if they believe in what actually back them. Often this is actually one big nothing, and digital printing of stablecoin is actually equal to printing fiat money which has reached incredible proportions these days.

But there is one very important difference between having $100 in your wallet and the same amount in stablecoin - this digital version of the coin can be frozen at any time, even if you keep it in a non-custodial wallet. I will say without a doubt that stablecoins are something far more dangerous than fiat and any cryptocurrency - but most people are not really aware of it at all.

@mk4 made a good review on this topic -> Most Stablecoins Can Be Frozen, Even in Your Own Wallets
8053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will not reach $50,000 on: February 14, 2021, 01:31:43 PM
I realized that the market would be more interesting if bitcoin will not reach $50,000 at this bull run.

Interesting for whom? For all those who pray every day for a correction to finally happen and for the price to be at least $10 000 again? I really thought people had learned at least something from the previous bull run, but one large percentage of people on this forum still believe that 2021 should be the same as 2018. It would be good to finally wake up and accept reality.

What do you think ?

I think your only chance for a big correction is for everyone to come together and launch a petition that you will then send to Elon Musk and all other big investors - if they dump everything they bought, your wish will come true.
8054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Don’t fall for the bitcoin bubble, even the Flintstones had a better system"... on: February 14, 2021, 11:46:17 AM
That man has the nickname Dr. Doom, so it's no wonder he thinks negatively about most things. I’m not sure if he announced a new major economic crisis, but I think I read something on the subject a few months ago. I started reading the article, but after reading the following I gave up - he is one of those living in the great delusion that Bitcoin is destroying planet Earth - which if we are to be honest is already so destroyed and devastated that some scientists say we have reached a point of which there is no going back.

“Since the fundamental value of bitcoin is zero and would be negative if a proper carbon tax was applied to its massive polluting energy-hogging production, I predict that the current bubble will eventually end in another bust,” Roubini wrote in an opinion column for the Financial Times on Wednesday.

There are people who generally do not understand what they are talking about, but there are also those who are paid to say exactly the kind of things that Dr. Doom has been preaching for years. There is no doubt that you can make very good money on such stories - Dr. Doom lives in a $5.5 million penthouse in an upscale part of New York City.
8055  Other / Meta / Re: Ref link not deleted for 5 days? on: February 14, 2021, 11:09:48 AM
Can the same set of rules be applied on this specific case?

Quote
1) It has to be marked. Hidden referal links are often removed.

The referral link is hidden in this case with hyperlink, it is also more than obvious.

Quote
2) The context for posting the referal link has to be on topic. For example, if I was to make a thread asking what Bitcoin exchanges people recommended for my particular situation, and you responded with a constructive post that was on topic to my question, you could post your referal link, and say something like, heres my referal link if you want to use it.

OP is start that thread with only one goal, collecting referrals - the context in which the ref link is posted is quite evident.

Quote
3) Don't start a thread to post your referal link. If you create a thread, even if its multiple paragraphs and pretty much on point, if you have your referal link in it, more likely than not its going to be seen as a spam advertising thread that will probably get removed.

If this is some kind of rule or just a recommendation, then it is definitely applicable in this case.

Quote
When you write a review and include your referal link, its really a gamble. As I said in rule #3 above "Don't start a thread to post your referal link. If you create a thread, even if its multiple paragraphs and pretty much on point, if you have your referal link in it, more likely than not its going to be seen as a spam advertising thread that will probably get removed." It will really be up to moderator discretion how your review is categorized, based on how many other reviews are there out there, how high quality is the post, are you just making the thread to give out your referal link, etc. While you could do it, the chances of the thread being removed are rather high, so you may end up wasting a lot of time writing a good review because of how the referal link is interpreted.

Do the moderators see this thread as some kind of review of the faucet in question? Well this is one of the oldest faucet with probably hundreds of reviews posted, and I don’t see the OP making that thread to explain to anyone how that faucet works.

So anyone who puts a little effort into presenting their ref link can do it without a problem?
8056  Other / Meta / Ref link not deleted for 5 days? (Solved) on: February 13, 2021, 03:31:38 PM
I know that mods tolerate ref links in posts in some parts of the forum (Gambling), but I wonder why no one wants to remove the ref link posted in Micro Earnings which more than obviously violate the forum rules? I reported this post 5 days ago with some other posts, but this is the only one that still stands unhandled Huh

8057  Economy / Speculation / Re: How to Identify a bitcoin rally on: February 13, 2021, 03:04:22 PM
Still boils down to the basic supply and demand, to make it simply. And currently, exchanges are running out of bitcoin because institutions are buying in bulk pushing the price higher and a super fast rally. Although bitcoins narrative has evolved, as more players are entering the picture, the basic law of supply and demand will explain everything in a nutshell.

As far as I know, all of these let's call them big players buy in the background via OTC and thus minimally affect the price. If Musk bought say 40 000 BTC, is that really a reason for the price to increase instantly by $10 000? I would say that it is not, and that the current price is the result of great news that only added new fuel to the existing FOMO.

Despite all the purchases that have taken place in the past 6-8 months, it should not be forgotten that there are probably millions of BTC for sale - some publicly on the crypto exchanges - and some via OTC which is obviously very well stocked, and it can still meet all needs.

Public opinion is largely based on the fact that miners produce only 900 BTC per day or only 27 000 per month which is actually a trifle compared to today’s demand - but it is completely ignored that many have started emptying their bags and slowly selling their coins making a profit while the price moving upwards.

In conclusion, I would say that there is still enough BTC for everyone who wants to buy it - and all those millions will not disappear overnight.
8058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Updated list of countries that are not friends to Bitcoin. on: February 13, 2021, 02:37:46 PM
Some countries are extremely aggressive when it comes to protecting national currencies and see BTC as competition that needs to be suppressed in any way. Some other countries just want to protect their citizens from all possible scams that have become very common - because people do not want their government to interfere in such investments, but when they become victims of scams they seek help from state institutions.

A random look at the list set by the OP shows that more or less these countries are not very developed in terms of education, human rights and freedoms - so how do you expect them to accept something over which they have no complete control.

I don't expect that list to be shortened, because that would mean that most countries in the world think the same - and the world has never agreed and united on anything, so it won't on whether Bitcoin is good or bad.
8059  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet Valentines deal on: February 13, 2021, 02:07:28 PM
Personally I don't find it very useful because I don't use Coinfy, but I would try their service just to use my voucher... if possible.

Are you sure you would like to make a full KYC for a voucher worth $15 or $25?

Do I need to do a KYC?
Yes, you need to do a KYC with our partner Coinify. Due to regulation, KYC is mandatory to buy crypto.

Hardware wallets are easy to setup and use, and a newbie hardly would make a mistake using a hardware wallet.

I wouldn’t agree that a hardware wallet is the ultimate protection or as some would say bulletproof - you have hundreds of examples where users of such devices have lost their coins, either due to carelessness with backup or because they type their seed words in various fake wallets. If you don't know how to use something, it doesn't matter if it's a desktop/mobile or the best hardware wallet.
8060  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sent payment stuck on unconfirmed for over 12 hours - second time trying to send on: February 13, 2021, 01:48:08 PM
You can use online estimator like https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/,  but using electrum fee estimator is good also and recommendable.

That site is definitely one of the worst when it comes to fee recommendations - I think it's written countless times on the forum. I visited that site and their recommendation is as follows "The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 102 satoshis/byte, shown in green at the top.". At the same time I looked at the situation with mempool on this site : https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,24h, and if you look at Mempool Size In MB, currently it is enough to pay 40 sat/byte for confirmation in the next block.
