Looks like he's already got the gas he needed anyway.

According to the help screen, "" specifies the account you ant to use.

One is the amount the server has avaliable, the other is the amount avaliable in that account, don't know why the account is higher though.
8063  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum "description" field when sending BTCs for internal use only? on: June 10, 2018, 10:49:31 AM
By illegal contents, are you referring to how somone posted a code signature similar to that of a virus so that antivirus software attacks the blockchain.

It's therefore a good idea there's a 40byte limit or a bitcoin node attacking virus could be placed in the code (and that would be a very good strategy)...
I mean, the last April-May issues and news with reports of pornographic images and illegal trade-related messages embedded in the blockchain.
Whereas those are stored as chunks of 40bytes of data using a specialized app to puzzle the image/text together.
(Such sophistication for a simple thing)
That must be an indirect attack by adversaries and I have only mentioned it as a possibility.

And... we're getting off-topic.

That's quite admirable, I assume they've paid quite highly to get that information all in one block or in subsequent blocks so in a way they're helping the network somewhere?

Does anyone know a legal standpoint on people hosting a blockchain that has people that add illegal content to it, I mean they're technically broadcasting illegal content unintentionally which looks as if it'll be a bit legally gray.

And yeah, a mod could do with splitting this topic if one's here.
8064  Other / Meta / Re: Petition to get one of this forum's venerable users to change their moniker. on: June 10, 2018, 10:32:44 AM
Here's one pertaining to the uniqueness of the English language. There is ONLY one word in the English language that when it's a proper noun, both have different pronunciations in spite of being spelled exactly the same excepting that the first letter of the proper noun one is capitalized (hence a proper noun).

Looks like nobody figure out the word yet, eh? Here's a hint: 420.

I can think of three, but none of them relate to 420...

Polish/polish
Nice/nice (City in France)
Reading/reading (City in England)

It was probably the polish/Polish he was thinking of. I thought there were a few yesterday (there's probably more than those three).
8065  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: June 09, 2018, 11:00:17 PM
I can open site just fine on my side, try again it's fixed
if you still can't open it, try changing your dns server to google dns

Yes it's fixed for me. That's a bit odd.
8066  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: June 09, 2018, 09:35:55 PM
Site seems to be down right now, any word the owners/mods on the reason?

For the record, the error I'm getting is 504 Gateway Time-Out.

.com seems to be down. In the process of checking the .onion one now.

edit 1
dot onion is still avaliable.
http://chipmixerwzxtzbw.onion/

To connect you'll need tor, downloadable from torproject.org.
8067  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum "description" field when sending BTCs for internal use only? on: June 09, 2018, 08:28:33 PM
- you can include some data in your transactions using the OP_Return code which is limited to 40 bytes
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/OP_RETURN
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/29554/explanation-of-what-an-op-return-transaction-looks-like
This rings a bell, the past illegal contents in the blockchain issue can be linked to that "OP_Return" function.
I don't know how it works but based on your statement, it is possible to insert "something" in to the blockchain.

By illegal contents, are you referring to how somone posted a code signature similar to that of a virus so that antivirus software attacks the blockchain.

It's therefore a good idea there's a 40byte limit or a bitcoin node attacking virus could be placed in the code (and that would be a very good strategy)...

OP, can you also take a screenshot of the bottom of the electrum window, does it say you are not connected, it is syncronising or does it display a balance i.e 0.00000000 atm.
8069  Other / Meta / Re: Please make Vod , a moderator of btctalk or he will tarnish new sellers image. on: June 09, 2018, 08:02:17 PM

It means negative. And it's faster to write.

What, by 0.8 seconds?
-0.4 seconds if you use Grammarly. I mean you just have to write 'negive' and it auto-corrects it. #JustSaying
So now we're somehow against efficiency here?

And it depends on how quickly you type.

I worked out I can get 8 shipped to me for ~$760, I assume the PSUs are probably worth about $50 at least and the s7s will probably sell for $50-100?

How sure are you that these even come with PSU's??

I was assuming they didn't come with PSU

They better had. It's like saying how do we know they come with the signal cables, the control computers... Hopefully they do, they're still parts of the miner.

Have you never ordered a miner new from Bitmain? They don't ship with a PSU... you have to order a PSU on the side.. I wonder if we can contact bitmain and ask.. if it DID come with a PSU... then redeeming definitely seems worth it as we could sell the S7s (if theres still demand) and PSUs

I know the others don't come with a psu but I always assumed these once do considering they inflate the price at "The Shop" by like $200.

You could always email and ask.
8071  Other / Meta / Re: Please make Vod , a moderator of btctalk or he will tarnish new sellers image. on: June 09, 2018, 07:42:56 PM
This was done because i saw -ve replies to my post.
So , what's a definition of potential scammer?
This way i too see you as a potential scammer . so should i give -ve feedback ?
If you wish to give me negative feedback then sure. But that's not really much use to anyone. You couldn't go round and give everyone a negative (I mean you could but it would be worthless) instead, someone with no background or experience here has just asked for a loan, I have done neither of these. If I asked for a loan now, I'd be known around the forum a bit so someone mimght make an offer based on anything I'd done, but I may also myself end up with a neg if I do not provide any valid collateral/security.

His feedback was given to me hours after i changed the title to close.
You still tried to get a loan which is a potential to scam.

Anyone who wants to scam i guess won't tell u this,
Quote
Hello,

I need $500 as loan for setting my online webdesigner business.
I am a designer myself, need money to setup store and promote it.

Payment of $750 after 2 months. [Not guaranteed, but i will try my level best]
What if idea doesn't work ? I would pay you with my freelance earnings. or you could get templates designed from me. [Whichever you choose]

Thanks.
Yeah they will they'll try anything in order to get a loan. This is the general scam tend. I have given out about three loans like this in the past and you can guess everyone I have given those loans to have defaulted and I haven't seen any of thos funds back again (I don't want interest, I just want back what's rightfully mine).

Not everyone is born with a golden spoon nor everyone is financially stable. The Web design agency i worked for closed down with no notice.
Thats why i came here trying to search for work. Been trying hard at many freelance forums but starting a freelancing journey with no feedback is tough.
Maybe you could try to go to the marketplace and start to find a few jobs you can do for people (remember to use escrow so they don't scam you).

Anyways, Vod can feel good about himself. Deep inside he knows , how lonely he is. I just went through google search. Found he has done it to many people. Some deserved it and some definitely didn't. But looking at his posting behaviour i know he is not a happy man.
Hope he finds peace in his life.
MOST deserve it. I don't think he's lonely or sad, he certainly doesn't appear that way to me.

What exactly do you mean with this "-ve" thing? I'm sorry but I don't really get it.

I'm assuming it means negative, but I have no idea why people don't just write negative. I've seen numerous people get confused by it.

It means negative. And it's faster to write.

Only Vod will judge.

Actually, this time, it is Vod that judged.  Reality is knocking...
Sorry, just had to do that...
8072  Other / Meta / Re: Please make Vod , a moderator of btctalk or he will tarnish new sellers image. on: June 09, 2018, 04:17:41 PM
Is there somehow a rule you have to know someone for them to scam you.

Is there also somewhere an idea that potential scammers shouldn't be tagged. If you're going to start your journey here by trying to scam, GO AWAY AND DON'T COME BACK.

Also, wow you managed to delete a thread all by yourself, clearly anyone who scams and deletes the thread where they scammed should also have their negative trust removed then? NO!

If parodium can't, I'll fund this if you can sign an address posted 6+ months ago from your account. (and if you specify the amounts to pay and repay in bitcoin)
8076  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestion] Locking thread after receiving specific/straightforward answers on: June 09, 2018, 02:05:02 PM
This is done a lot. I do it once I get an answer to a thread where I know that there will be a lot of other answers that might not be concise to what I want and will just change. There are obvious potential spam megathreads in your op though like the "is ethereum better than ripple" which could actually just be deleted before it's even got an answer because people should really try to research for themselves and come up with their own opinions (when both currencies, whitepapers and blockchains are publicly available).
8077  Other / Meta / Re: I want a posting bot, who has one for me? on: June 09, 2018, 12:15:44 PM
I thought using bots to POST was against the rules somewhere?

Anyway, if no one comes up with anything, it's probably just as easy to login on a browser after generating the post isn't it?

The issue is possibly that you now need a token, you didn't July last year as I recall. Message theymos and ask for one, tell him.what you plan on doing with it also.
8078  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: "unconfirmed"=pending in mempool or Added to Block+waiting for 3 more blocks? on: June 09, 2018, 11:20:40 AM
At some point it becomes too hard for any attacker to reverse the transaction. 6 confirmations is that mark.
6 confirmation prevents any attackers without 51% of the hashrate from trying to reverse the transaction. If you have more than 51% of the hashrate, you can reverse any transactions, no matter how old it is.

Using irreversible for 6 confirmations doesn't seem right.

It does mean you have to remind every block though to make your new chain and have the old one orphoned.
Thanks for the feedback. I will look into explaining what exactly confirmations mean either in this FAQ entry or a linked article.
Confirmations basically shows the number of blocks that has been mined ontop of the block that has included the transaction. Confirmations will never be enough for a transaction to be considered irreversible. The higher the number of confirmations simply mean that it would be harder for any attacker to reverse the transaction.

At some point it becomes too hard for any attacker to reverse the transaction. 6 confirmations is that mark.

Isn't it before that point, it's just put as 6 for safety?

Once every node has received a block, its very hard to remove that block as the nodes are then just looking out for the next block (obviously if that next block has a different previous block hash then the other block has to be pulled also). After about 3 block it already becomes qutie difficult to launch an attack and play jenga with the blockchain to get that block out from nodes?

This has gone really off topic anyway.

it is a hardness argument.
when you send a transaction and it is still in the mempool (unconfirmed) it is easy to double spend it.
when it has 1 confirmation, it becomes very hard to double spend it and the chance of that happening is less than 1% for example
....
if it has 6 confirmation the chance of double spend becomes so small that we consider it zero. i is like 0.000001%
Yeah but what I'm.saying is that it's already quite hard to take a block out when it's three down. If we use your 10-block-2 probability that a block will be removed, a 0.00001 chance is still really small.
8079  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 09, 2018, 11:12:52 AM

Nope, I already getting my new password on my email but the problem right now is in my google authenticator which is unbalanced. This is the second time I already face this trouble but after some period of time, it suddenly be normal but for this time, it really takes longer time. I do not know the problem too but I will later get it to you by PM later on

Anyway thanks for the quick reply

Did you try resnycing it's clock with Google's as I suggested if it's "unbalanced".

In the auth app:
Press settings > time correction for code > sync now?
