8081  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you feel happy on getting merits ? on: June 21, 2021, 09:25:10 AM
When I read about your post, I immediately thought of the dopamine rush that the "like" or "heart" button in different social media platforms give.

Maybe merits need a new name more centered around dopamine.  Cheesy

It is cool to think something as simple as a merit can brighten someone's day.  Sort of makes me want to rain them down upon as many people as possible to spread positivity.  Probably why I do so.  Smiley

Some dopamine headed your way my friend, and some for the OP as well even though this post is breeding grounds for more spammy sig campaign inflating nonsense like this post.
8082  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I started a blog interviewing crypto people. I called it Crypto Fireside. on: June 21, 2021, 09:21:35 AM
Good luck with your blog.  I really like the presentation and it does have a personal feeling to it showing that you really are interested in the people in the space.  I'm glad whenever I see people trying to create something cool and that's what I see here.  You clearly have put a lot of work into this and it shows.  I'm looking forward to reading more interviews in the future and hope you stick with it while maintaining the same fun and personal energy.

I'm liking the Bucks chances to go all the way at this point.  I don't think they'll have any problem taking down Atlanta and I think the Suns will have problems containing Giannis in the Finals.  With Kawhi Leonard possibly out for a while and Chris Paul set to return soon, I don't think the Clippers have enough to contain Booker and Ayton.  I'm shocked at how well Ayton is playing in these playoffs.  It's possible he'll shock me again and shut down the lane for Giannis, bringing my hometown team a much sought after Finals win.  I'm not sure I'd place a bet on that though.

8085  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: which pools are offering merged mining? on: June 21, 2021, 07:02:31 AM
It affects the pool code and increases the risk of BTC block stales.
i.e. as I said at the start, they are free, not worth paying for when (as you say) 80% of the bitcoin network gets them for free.

I’m not sure what you’re arguing here or how it pertains to domain censorship. I also don’t believe that 80% of Bitcoin miners are being given the NMC that their hashes are mining. I’d like to have a more clear understanding of what is happening to all that NMC by those pool operators that isn’t being distributed. Whether they’re dumping it, burning it, hoarding it, and who “they” are…
8086  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: which pools are offering merged mining? on: June 20, 2021, 11:51:07 PM
Unless it actually gets wide use (which it still hasn't after all these years) it's value is dubious.
In fact it was basically ignored for a number of years.
If you say people are trying to resurrect it, I'd wonder what their true reasons behind that are ... other than pump an dump like pretty much every scamcoin.

It certainly will never be comparable to the price of BTC, thus the $1.50 point still stands.
And when a normal domain these days can cost less than $10 a year, it's unexpected for namecoin to ever get a high price even it it became more widely used.

Looking here: https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin-core/releases it looks like they have had development going on actively for at least the last few years.
It's not the cost of the domain it's the fact that its supposed to be un-censorable. Never actually checked if it is or how it works.

-Dave

Indeed. Comparing it to registering a normal domain is insanity. Namecoin is one of those things that will be overlooked until it is needed, and I’m glad there are people dedicating themselves to continued development even while others dismiss it as a simple domain registration coin.

It might be ok with people to not defend Alex Jones or others who are victims of censorship because they’re outliers, but there’s a quote somewhere about who will be left to defend you when they come for you?

With nearly 80% of Bitcoin’s hashrate and constant development for nearly a decade, I don’t think Namecoin needs resurrecting (unless you’re obsessed with the financial aspect), but I do believe it is going to continue to offer something that could potentially be extremely important to freedom on the internet. With this thread, I’d love to identify which pools are mining it vs which aren’t, and the ones that are mining them; are they cashing out, stacking, or giving them to their users.
8087  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ENDED] NastyFans Minted Seats (for the Minted Seat Collective) on: June 20, 2021, 08:59:09 AM
I mean winners for the physical coins. How to see if you won one?

Check your nastyfans.org account and it shows you if your online seats won. If you’re talking about Minted Seats, see my previous answer or get more details on the giveaway thread.

Winners from this auction can send payment to: 1NTf7FPkRtg9H72jrWHvKNdSoZBzMGkZWk
…and send me a PM with their shipping info.
8088  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ENDED] NastyFans Minted Seats (for the Minted Seat Collective) on: June 20, 2021, 08:27:07 AM
Is there a list where you can see if your public key have won?

All the minted seats will split the proceeds from this sale accordingly as opposed to selecting individual winners. This is to address concerns with coin owners may not being accurate due to secondhand market sales. Rest assured your coins are winners along with everyone else’s. Congratulations! In the actual giveaway thread I believe this is discussed in more detail.
8089  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION ENDS SOON] NastyFans Minted Seats (for the Minted Seat Collective) on: June 20, 2021, 12:31:14 AM
2oz #1 - .0026

Looks like that was just after the buzzer so nonnakip’s coin is safe.

Thanks to everyone who placed a bid to support all the Minted Seats holders out there! We got a steal on these babies. I’m excited. It’s raining coins these days!

If there are any unclaimed coins from the giveaway then there will be one more auction. I’ll have to wait to hear what went unclaimed from nonnakip after the time period to claim has run out. If you do have any online seats, please make sure to claim any coins you won!
8090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: June 19, 2021, 11:02:04 PM
There is not much time left for the last game of the Nets - Bucks series. It is very exciting already.  Cheesy  Irving hasn't still bounced back from his injury. And Harden still didn't seem like he had his 100 percent in the last game. I hope that he can help KD really much for a win. I'm supporting Nets in this.

If Durant have to play whole 48 minutes again I don't know how it affects his shooting percentage, maybe he will be more tired than usual. Still it's Game 7 so you have to put your everything to reach Conference Finals.
There is interesting stats for Game 7. In history home teams win %78 of 7-game series, but against Milwaukee Bucks %100 of them won. Which means Bucks never win a 7 game series at road. It's historical statistics and definitely won't affect tonight's game but you gotta take this home team advantage seriously. I hope we will watch a very good match. That's what NBA is all about.

Durant vs Giannis, I think Durant wins every time. Strangely, it’s looking like Giannis has more help than Durant now with Irving out and Harden playing poorly off his injury. If Middleton has another huge game I could see the Bucks advancing, but I still feel like Durant is going to bring home the W. Starting in an hour on TNT for those who will be watching along.

Here's the h3h3production link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5BZ5_yyRUU

I watched that h3 podcast episode.  It's pretty funny that Carlos was apparently just some guy they pulled out of the crowd because he was so enthusiastic about Bitconnect.  I thought he was more involved.  You'd think he was the CEO the way he's forever affiliated with the project now.  It looks like now that crypto is back in the headlines he's trying to cash in on his 30 seconds of fame 4 years later.  After hearing his story you have to wonder how many people have had their lives damaged by their enthusiasm for crypto.  He seems happy though so good for him.
8093  Other / Off-topic / Re: Money is the Essence of Remorse. on: June 19, 2021, 04:51:16 PM
Honestly, I think the best way to be "happy" with regards to money is to learn to live within your means, whatever those means are.  If you make $20,000 a year, spend less than $20,000 a year.  If you make $200,000 a year, spend less than $200,000 a year.  Work towards paying off any debt you have, and living debt-free the rest of your life.

Most "wealthy" people only get stressed by money because they mismanage it.  They see a higher paycheck, and instead of working on paying down their current mortgage, they take out a bigger mortgage on a better house, start spending more on their credit cards because they can just pay it off later, etc.  Then, when they lose their job, or they have to take a decrease in pay, they realize they've screwed themselves, and that's when the real stress begins.

Believe me, I've been there, done that.

So, learn to always spend less than your income, to save up for your big purchases instead of taking out loans for them, and to live debt-free.  Then, when and if you do make $200k, you can have a hearty laugh at all your neighbors making the same amount, but somehow struggling to make ends meet, while you have a surplus of $15k+ a month.  And if you only make $20k the rest of your life, you can still live happily being focused on other things besides how you'll pay this month's credit card bill.

that's true, when you start to mismanage the flow of cash that comes to you is the main source of stress. if you spend your money wisely, you wont have to feel like you're just "chasing" money and live from pay check to pay check (this is of course if youre earning above the base quantity required for basic human necessities) its also wise to keep track of your expenses and try to avoid impulsive splurging of money right when you get paid.

What made you respond to this guy 9 years later?  How did you even find this thread?  LOL

The funny thing about this thread, is that the guy who made it scammed everyone for money and took off.  I guess you could say that stolen money is the source of his remorse these days.
8094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: June 19, 2021, 04:45:33 PM
Hilarious that the "Suns in 4" guy who beat up that Denver fan got free tickets and a signed jersey from Devin Booker's team.  I watched an interview between him and Dave Portnoy where he explains everything that happened.  I guess the Denver kid was flashing money at him and dumped beer on him which led to the vicious beating that ensued.  If you aren't aware of what I'm talking about, Google "Suns in 4 fight" and you'll get all you need to know, including video of the incident.

8095  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: which pools are offering merged mining? on: June 19, 2021, 12:23:31 PM
Well at around $1.50 per coin it's a complete waste of time.
It affects the pool code and increases the risk of BTC block stales.
Apparently in the end, slush kept all theirs (didn't paid it out to the miners)
But I have still yet to understand why when you get them for free, why anyone would pay for them.
Ignorance I guess.

BTC was also relatively free to mine back when it was around $1.50 per coin. I don’t think those buying them back then are considered ignorant today, but there’s always risk involved when your only concerns are financial. I think domain censorship has only become a more important issue over the last decade and am glad to see that there are still pools supporting Namecoin with merged mining as well as developers spending their time on active development and generous organizations giving sponsorships.

It is odd that slush didn’t pay out NMC (I’ve mined a decent number of BTC there over the years). I wonder what did/will happen with those NMC… Has this ever been publicly stated?
8096  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: June 18, 2021, 10:23:22 PM
It looks like a lot of the cards in the OP are still listed as being only available to European citizens. Coinbase definitely now allows Americans to have their Debit Card (I have one) and they offer 1% back in BTC or 4% back in XLM.  The card looks quite nice, although I still prefer the look and feel of my Apple Card.  Getting crypto back for spending fiat is great though and I've finally found a reason to hold a stablecoin (considered fiat in this statement).  There wasn't any cost associated with receiving the card and no fees, so I don't see why anyone with a Coinbase account wouldn't have one of these sitting around.

8097  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] NastyFans Minted Seats (for the Minted Seat Collective) on: June 18, 2021, 09:48:17 PM
With the way the BTC price has decided to move recently these are ridiculously cheap!  Don't be shocked if I place some bids tomorrow to add to my personal collection. Shocked

I'm not sure what the thoughts are about me bidding on this auction, but I think given that I am auctioning these on behalf of Minted Seat owners, I don't see why anyone would take issue with more funds being raised or me wanting to purchase these coins due to the fact that I have to purchase them from the NastyShop just like everyone else.  Not saying I'm for sure going to be placing more bids, but it is a strong possibility.  If for any reason this bothers you, you may withdraw prior bids or withstand the urge to participate. Smiley

Good luck!
8098  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius Coin 1BTC on: June 18, 2021, 06:36:37 PM
I have a 1 BTC Casascius coin and want some advice.

What would the the average price be for this coin in BTC?

Is it worth putting it into a crypto exchange and earn interest on that, or should I keep it closed?

Price depends on which year coin it is, what it's made out of, the condition it's in, and the current market sentiment towards these collectibles.

I wouldn't peel it to move it to an exchange for interest.  Literally these coins are made so you don't have to store your BTC in some 3rd party holding solution.  You'd be adding liabilities for very little reward.

I think when it comes to Casascius coins you have 3 options.  Peel the coin and cash out the BTC (then sell the peeled coin).  Sell the coin in tact for above the held value.  Hold onto the coin until you're ready to cash out.  Peeling to get low interest wouldn't be an option for me because you'd probably get more selling it in tact anyway (depending on your hold time with the interest), and you'd be opening yourself up to more liability.  The only reasons I could see someone doing this is if you didn't trust Casascius anymore, or you wanted to diversify your passive income more than you want to invest in a collectible.
8099  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: June 18, 2021, 06:29:27 PM
Any thoughts on how many games Chris Paul will miss in the next round?  Will he miss any at all?  Can the Suns win without him?

I'd be curious on results of a poll about how many games Chris Paul will miss.  I haven't followed the news as much as I'd like, but it seems like he's been in quarantine for a while and was already vaccinated.  If even vaccinated people have to spend weeks out of work due to protocol, it sort of makes you wonder how effective the vaccine is in the first place and what the point of it is...
8100  Other / Meta / Re: Signature spam - how to force users to read before replying? on: June 18, 2021, 06:26:06 PM
The only ways to stop signature spam is for the forum to take control of signature advertising, or for campaign managers to start being held accountable.  If campaign managers have more strict standards of entry, these spammers would find that after a while they aren't getting any kind of return on their time spent.  That's the only way they'll ever stop.  Some of these spammers are probably happy to make less than a dollar a day.  You can't fight that sort of thing with moderation.

I would suggest campaign managers stop accepting new users based on who posts on their [OPEN] threads and start actually seeking out real established members of the community to advertise signature campaigns.  It's ridiculous the way it's currently being done.  It is crystal clear that entire process has been setup so that advertisers don't have to be involved and campaign managers can spend the least amount of time possible finding participants and making payments.  I'm not out to get campaign managers, but the source of this problem is easily identifiable and nothing is going to change until they start being held accountable, as I doubt they're going to take it among themselves to start spending more time actually finding decent participants that post here for legitimate reasons.  Even the way that campaigns are paid by posts and not by views is clearly an invite for spam.  Not a lot of thought was put into how signature campaigns are run here and it shows.
