This is pretty funny. I have no idea how you're getting panels so cheap, but this makes no sense. I've run MANY calculations as I live in a very sunny area. Under optimal conditions (8 hours of sunlight a day) it would cost $48k for me to get a setup that will generate 3,000 KW a month (which is $310 where I live). It would take around 12 years to break even.

I have no idea how you would be able to do a repayment within a couple months on a $5k loan, nor how that is supposed to help you somehow manage to generate 90,000 KW a month or more (when you're looking at 48k+ for 3,000 KW a month), but I'm definitely interested in hearing more about it.

Story: Secession
Minimum Length: 5,000 words
First Prize: 2,000,000 devcoins
Second Prize: 1,000,000 devcoins

Scenario: A group of freedom fanatics buys an island and then secedes! There's at least a hundred of em, the island has enough farmland to support them, they have lots of guns, and they have good communication equipment including cellphones and at least one satellite phone and one ham radio transmitter.

Edit: The prizes were doubled from their original 1,000,000 and 500,000.

Posting on this thread too. Sent an email: finished my story, Smiley.

8103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HUMONGOUS Lawsuit against Butterfly Labs is Back (I) on: July 09, 2013, 08:46:01 PM
If anyone who ordered lives in Massachusetts, there is a consumer protection law against misrepresentations, i.e, if they said something would ship in 2 weeks, and you ordered and didn't get it for a year, I'm pretty sure you'd have a claim against them.  You would have jurisdiction to sue them in Mass. in my opinion.  I'm pretty sure most states have some sort of consumer protection laws.

To sue you have to go to the same town where the business is located. If they are located in Florida, for example, and you're in California, you can not sue them unless you do it in Florida and show up (otherwise they win by default).

It doesn't matter what laws they broke wherever you're from. It only matters what laws they broke in the state in which they do business (or in the case of Internet-only businesses, they are registered in).

He's right guys. I had bitcoins stored on this one site and now they're gone. Can anyone please get a hold of the owner and ask them to look into it? Thanks!

Any deadline for this? I started drafting something tonight but I have to warn you, it doesn't have a happy ending.

No deadline, whoever hits 5,000 words first gets first prize.

I didn't expect a happy ending, that's why I made sure they had communications equipment so their heroic sacrifice was remembered Sad

Ding! Just finished my story. Hits on all requirements as well. Let me know what you think, Smiley.

Excellent site, saves a lot of time Smiley

Thanks. Let me know if there are any problems or concerns with it, Smiley.
8107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earn Free Bitcoins :) on: July 09, 2013, 04:21:02 PM
No scam ?

Looks legit from here, although I'd suggest doing the faucet rotator instead. Faster and easier. Just skips you from one to the next.

I give your story a combined rating of 6/10. Thanks for the awesome read! Next time don't follow The Sixth Sense. And if you're going to follow a movie directly, please don't use their lines, like "I see dead people." It's cheap.

I look forward to your next piece of art!

well tell me guys have i made a major mistake here or what price seems to be plumitting

It's painful to read questions like this. Let us assume that we knew the answer to your question: this would freeze all of the BTC sales. Why? Because nobody is going to go out of their way to lose money on purpose, knowing that the prices are dropping. Therefore nobody would buy and the prices would remain stationary.

For future reference, before you spend a cent on something you should learn what it is you are dealing with; if you don't, your possible BTC loss is going to be the least of your worries.

Tagging this to keep up with the thread, but also there needs to be timers set on each request. For example, a few days or a couple weeks, so that there is a known end date.

My request does not have an end date, Edd wrote that he started drafting something:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=240540.msg2600204#msg2600204

but I haven't heard anything else since. People can add an end date if they want.

Got ya. Going to see what I can do about this and I will hopefully have it finished tomorrow!

Luckybit and Wiser thought of a way for readers to request stories and get full answers to questions:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=240540.0

To start, a moderated Stories and Question thread is at:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252709

Please post your story requests and questions there. You can ask for stories about something you're interested in, or ask questions for which you want a full, well written answer. The stories and answers will be devtome articles.

I love these ideas! I'm also going to take you up on your story... we need time frames listed though as well for final submissions.

This is awesome news! What is the difference between Alpha and Beta though? For those of us who have been playing for the past month or two what should we look forward to?
8119  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Free Bitcoins earn up to .5btc on: July 09, 2013, 12:04:45 AM
http://coinurl.com  is good for publishers and advertisers

https://coinad.com is good for clicking on ads and getting bitcoins and they do pay out

waste of time :/

The BTC Faucet Rotator works. It won't make anyone rich (well, it can if BTC goes up to 1k+ like people think) but it's quick and easy to run through them while watching tv and stuff.
8120  Economy / Services / Re: 0.4 BTC / month free (Best payouts - NO POSTING NEEDED :) on: July 08, 2013, 09:44:45 PM
