8141  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Various NastyFans Minted Seats (from NastyMining giveaway) on: June 11, 2021, 10:03:20 PM
Bump…

Looks like the 5oz, 2oz and 1oz #3 are all ripe for more bids.  Cheesy

With just over a day to go I wanted to say good luck on this auction as we head into a weekend of Bitcoin volcanoes and great deals. Summertime fun and Bitcoin excitement. I love it.
8142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 11, 2021, 02:19:38 AM
That did turn out to be a great game but the Nets couldn’t come through in the end. They gave up the last 6 points to lose by 3 on a Durant miss at the buzzer. My takeaway from this game is that Durant is really good. Joe Harris shot horribly, which I think ultimately lost them the game. When the best shooter in the NBA is missing wide open midrange shots one after another there is a problem. Gotta give credit to Brook Lopez for owning the paint as well. He got 6 blocks and kept the Nets out of the middle all game in spite of cries from Steve Nash that his team get in there. I don’t think the Bucks will win another game this series.
8143  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Now that Trump said Bitcoin is a scam, are right wingers selling and leaving? on: June 11, 2021, 01:07:00 AM
It’s more the left that is obsessed with Trump and changes their behavior based on what Trump says. Maybe they will now rush to buy it?

What the leftist Trump haters don’t understand is that it’s his fundamental political beliefs that his supporters care about. Nobody gives a fuck about his opinion on crypto or how shitty of a husband/employer he is except the snowflakes obsessed with him.
8144  Other / Off-topic / Re: Doesnt Nokia seem like a great buy or is it just me? on: June 11, 2021, 01:04:14 AM
With Nokia shifting their focus from phones to 5g network wouldn't it be a great buy in the upcoming 5/10 years?
enlighten me why it's a bad/good buy.

The debt load they would need to take on in order to compete with larger brands would be enough to kill them. The reality is that they’ve been skating by selling off assets and cashing in on patents for years. They continue to be a weaker company by the year and I don’t see that trend reversing anytime soon.

Almost time for the Nets to beat the Bucks and bring me my money.  Grin

No Harden, no problem. The Nets have so much more talent than everyone else, we’re seeing another Warriors dynasty situation. Without the King to bring them down, they have only themselves to fear. I can only imagine how bad the blowouts would be if Aldridge had stuck around on the team.

Yeah, Nets are feeling comfortable without Harden. And since the game is on the home court of Bucks tonight, Brooklyn is the underdog. So this is a good chance for us to win good if we bet on Nets as they are torching the Bucks will their good offense with Durant.

Might be a close one, but I'm leaning towards Nets here @2.65 ML.

The Nets scored only 11 points in the first quarter! Not looking good for my bet. It’s hard to imagine things could get worse, so hopefully the law of averages comes into play a little and the ball starts going in the hole for them. After the first two games I figured this would be easy but it looks like Giannis isn’t ready to go fishing yet.
8146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Increases Its Debt-for-Bitcoin Offering to $500 Million on: June 10, 2021, 08:08:23 PM
I'm also really bullish on bitcoin for sure, but damn Saylor is crazy. He even created another subsidiary, "MacroStrategy" for the bitcoin holdings LOL.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/microstrategy-macrostrategy-bitcoin-arm

I always thought the name microstrategy made no sense when he was clearly making a bet on the macro environment.  Nice to see he's addressed this ridiculous naming structure.

Does anyone know if the decisions in that company are made by Michael Saylor or are they according to the company's board of directors? If Michael Saylor is the one making those decisions, I don't think they will stop soon.
In general, speculation in Bitcoin may be logical in the short term, because we have almost reached the bottom and the price must increase, but the real question is, will they sell if the price reaches 100 thousand dollars?

I'm sure they're all on board with the idea at this point.  Likely they were all Bitcoin holders long before Saylor's company investment.  They have clearly been using the company's fundraising ability prior to an ETF being approved to prop up the Bitcoin market.  One such reason to do so would be to prop up your own holdings to enrich yourself.  If that is the case (you know it is) then they'll likely set the company's shareholders up to be the bagholders while they sell and get rich.  Maybe once Saylor and friends sell their entire crypto portfolios and short the market, then you might see microstrategy sell.
8147  Other / Meta / Re: Can moderators be asked to close threads of banned accounts? on: June 10, 2021, 08:01:26 PM
Moderators can be asked to do anything...  Whether or not they will comply is another story.  As others have stated, if the thread is an obvious spam haven then they would likely lock it.

I don't think having a policy in place where all banned accounts will have all their topics locked is necessarily a good idea.  I don't even think their trust feedback is removed at this point...  Best case scenario those threads would die out on their own, but if they continue to be bumped the solution appears to be to report those posts so they are removed and the thread can fall back into the forgotten archive of time.

Stake recently added Player Props for all #NBA matches!

Want to know more about Player Props and how they could make you some sweet profit on the #NBAPlayoffs?

Read our brand new guide now: https://news.stake.com/what-are-nba-player-props/

Awesome I must have checked for this right before it went live.  Was hoping to make some prop bets.  I guess I'll have to login and take another look.

I'm still having issues with being unable to place single bets.  I can select the bet, but am unable to adjust the amount wagered from 0 unless I select the multi-bet tab, which won't allow me to place single bets through it anymore.  Would love to see this issue resolved so that I can go back to placing more regular bets as I feel being limited to multi-bets has reduced my participation.  Thanks!
8149  Other / Politics & Society / Re: why revolutions and movements fail at their desired outcome on: June 10, 2021, 07:45:30 PM
A lot of time movements fail because of focusing on individuals instead of the movement.  This was something that satoshi feared and was a big part of why he constantly looked for ways to reward those who engaged while staying anonymous.  I believe if satoshi was discovered with concrete evidence, regardless of who he was or what his past was, horrible things would be said about him.  Narratives would be thought up to discredit him and make his invention appear self-serving.  They would find people from his past to make claims about him and harass him into no longer wanting to work on the project.  That's what people do...  In dying as an anonymous figure, satoshi saved the community from having to deal with this drama and allowed Bitcoin to dodge what would have been a helpless attack vector.

Sometimes we have to focus on the idea and tune out the noise.  This is hard, because less intelligent people focus on individuals and they are the majority.  I stand by the belief that we should focus on ideas, be aware of events, and for the most part ignore people.

I would not mind modding

You are an obvious candidate and I think you would make a great addition to the section as a moderator. If frodocooper won’t be returning I can see you being a worthy replacement. You certainly have the crypto mining knowledge and have shown to maintain a high activity level over a long period of time.
8152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 10, 2021, 04:18:12 AM
Feels like it might be a Suns vs Nets matchup in the Finals this year. I had a multibet placed on them both for today/tomorrow. Phoenix came through with the first half, I just need the Nets to bring it home for me. The way they’ve been handling the Bucks, that shouldn’t be too big of a problem. The game will be on ESPN tomorrow and it’s an early evening game.
8153  Economy / Collectibles / Re: NastyMining $14K+ / 140oz .999 Silver Coin Giveaway! on: June 09, 2021, 08:50:25 PM
The first auction from this giveaway is underway now here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5342882.0

This is for coins won by seats held by NastyMining as a result of our recent buyback.  These coins will be sold (I put in starting bids to make sure) this weekend and the funds will be sent to NastyMining's holdings.  This will help restore funds that were spent on the giveaway, which is pretty cool.  Once these are all sold, I will be able to auction coins won by Minted Seats with funds being distributed to the "Minted Seats Collective" as nonnakip calls it.  Then once enough time has passed I will do a final auction of coins that went unclaimed by winners which will have proceeds distributed to all NastyFans seats.

I think maybe the old rules should start being enforced before we start adding new ones...
8156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 09, 2021, 07:50:24 PM
Suns vs Nuggets is the only game on tonight. I personally would go hard on the Suns. They're a 2.5 favorite tonight and I think they'll win by 7 or more. Homecourt advantage plays a little into my thinking for tonights game.

With Jamal Murray out to injury (the best player on the Nuggets) the Suns have a real good shot to advance.  Jokic is going to be flying high off his MVP win, but the Suns are on an absolute tear.  I think betting on them isn't the worst move for today and as you stated this is the only game in town for the day, so it seems like Suns to beat the spread is probably the way to go.  I hope CP3 is feeling better.  The last game they seemed heavily reliant on Booker's shooting to get them the win.  I'd like to see them go back down to Ayton more.  He absolutely dominated the Lakers and I think he's having a breakout playoff performance so far.

8158  Economy / Securities / Re: 📈 NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: June 09, 2021, 07:22:41 PM
curious - as the site states that online purchasers can "mint" their seats why are minted seat owners who register on the site not treated the same as online seat owners.

This is because they are traded on the secondary market and this can't be accurately tracked.  You keep harping on this same thing no matter how many times it gets explained to you.  It's a really simple concept.  The way you want to do it would create a ton of problems with people trying to claim coins they don't own, people claiming winning tickets for coins they've previously sold, new owners wondering why the previous owner claimed their winnings, people wanting us to resolve conflicts between multiple parties claiming they all own the same coin, etc...  I'm not messing with any of that.  I would suggest for you to start doing your own giveaways and you can do them any poorly thought out way you want.

Edit: Bold added in the hopes it gets through to you finally.

Loving the prop NBA bets coming to stake.com. I’ve wanted to suggest this for a while but I’m glad to see you’re already on it. Just in time to catch the end of the NBA playoffs. I’m looking forward to testing this out, although I’m still unable to place single bets in my browser for some reason. Still, any improvement is a good thing.  Smiley

I really like those silver coins on your shop hope to order some other time.

Thanks.  The amount of work I've put into that project borders on insanity, but I'm happy to do it.  I plan to offer a few of those silver coins at auction starting at 1/2 price in the Collectibles section on this forum.  Might be a good opportunity to get your hands on some for below their actual selling price or you can always purchase at: https://nastyfans.org/mint

I remember when I was a beginner, the first one who gave me 'Merit' was you, I remember that until now, very happy at that time, I forgot to say thank you, today I say that, thank you.

You're very welcome.  I've been looking forward to the day that someone comments that I gave them their first merit.  All the effort finding new users to give them merit has now paid off for me.  Thank you.

Everyone else thanking me and showering me with merit for my efforts here over the years.  Thank you.  I'm often held to a ridiculous standard and criticized for my efforts here in spite of having the best of intentions, so it is nice to get a little encouragement.  It's like traveling back in time to when this forum was a positive and supportive place to build on Bitcoin.  Smiley
