821  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Top 6 Crypto Ebooks You Need to Read in 2024 on: February 03, 2024, 05:05:05 PM
Mastering Bitcoin is a free book and I don't think anyone would think of selling it.
Andreas Antonopoulos sells the paperbacks through Amazon. He also sells the e-books. It's true that there is a free version on GitHub, but despite that, some people prefer to buy the actual book for various reasons.

Firstly, it's a way to support the author and show appreciation for their work. Secondly, people like myself don't like reading digital books. I have always preferred a physical copy I can hold in my hands than starring at a computer monitor, which I already do way more than I should. I also enjoy seeing my progress, as the amount of pages I have read increases, while those that remain to be read decrease. You don't get that from e-books. Those digital page numbers mean nothing to me.

I don't know if it's just me or if there is a general problem, but I can't access this achieve you posted. I am getting a 'site can't be reached error' every time. Perhaps it's an issue related to my VPN, perhaps not. Speaking of VPNs, they are the perfect honeypots that government agencies can use to catch bad actors thinking they are protected. Maybe you could focus your research on them and see what you come up with.
823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Jan 2024] Fees are high, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: February 03, 2024, 08:57:20 AM
I know that the Bitcoin mining difficulty adjusted not that long ago, but I don't remember the last time I saw the average block time being around 8 minutes.
In fact, the last couple of times the difficulty adjusted, I saw mempool.space showing a block time of about 11 minutes. Perhaps the Texan miners have turned their machines back on during the last cycle or some other devices woke up.

824  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: February 03, 2024, 08:43:43 AM
Yeah I heard about them, but to be honest I don't trust them enough to go through KYC hassle and If I decide to go through KYC again, I'll rather do it via Coinbase or crypto.com.
It's crap either way, just of a different color. The more it can be avoided, the better it is for everyone. There is an alternative solution for KYC as well, as mentioned by one of our local forum members. But this isn't the place to talk about it. Grin
825  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Top 6 Crypto Ebooks You Need to Read in 2024 on: February 03, 2024, 08:20:30 AM
I'm not sure if there's an ebook version of Jason Lowery's Softwar, but if there is I wonder why it isn't on the list. It has since been taken down or somehow banned, but there is still a high demand for it. I wanted to get one, and although it remains available until now, the price is so high. It seems to be a very interesting read.
Amazon doesn't offer it anymore. It isn't available, but it used to be. If you can't get it the normal way by purchasing it, I am sure you know there are alternative ways to get your hands on it. It took me a few seconds to find 2 working download links. I guess we are talking about the same book, the one with 360 (or so) pages.

The same with Andreas Antonopoulos' Mastering Bitcoin. I wonder why it isn't on the list. I have time and again read that it is probably the best guide in technically understanding Bitcoin.
The bolded part is probably also the answer to your question. I guess OPs idea wasn't to recommend technically complicated materials for reading. I don't think Mastering Bitcoin is something you would recommend to someone who knows nothing about crypto, and that's probably also true for Softwar.
826  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: February 03, 2024, 08:05:12 AM
I am still on the lookout for my next crypto debit card after Binance Visa stopped working and having hard time deciding which one to get, if I even get any in the end.
I have heard people from our Balkan countries discussing and recommending the new Trustee Card in partnership with Binance. As was already said in this thread, it's only a virtual card that you can connect and use via Google Pay, but apparently it's working fine in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, and Montenegro. Looks like the fees are on the better side as well. I am not on Telegram, but I am sure someone from our local board could point you in the right direction if you asked.
827  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How much do signature campaigns work? on: February 03, 2024, 07:57:47 AM
Please don't mistake a side bonus as an income from a job here, this forum is not a place for people to find an online job, the idea was initially to have a bonus on the side of posting to discuss Bitcoin and at the same time get some Bitcoin, unfortunately people exploited  this opportunity and destroyed the joyful place this forum once was. We are stuck in a loop of "signature/merit", not even our enemies could plan to disrupt our progress this nicely. we did it ourselves.
I don't see how signatures, signature campaigns, and merits are keeping you from posting or discussing Bitcoin in any way you want. You are free to browse and post in any area of the forum. You can post, create your own threads, and even diss or attack other members or staff, and no one is going to silence you for it. You can even self-moderate your threads and have control over who can write in them and who can't. You can create local rules preventing certain users to comment in your threads if that's what you want. Can your trust ratings be impacted by such actions? Yes, they can. But why would you care unless you want to join a signature campaign yourself?!

If you don't like seeing someone's posts, ignore them. There is literally a button for it to make the ignoring even more serious.
Are posts breaking any rules? Report them, and if you are right, the staff will delete them regardless of who wrote it.
828  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Overview] Comprehensive list of Crypto Sportsbooks v2 -Updated poll- on: February 03, 2024, 07:41:42 AM
It's really tough to just go by the ToS. Some books say that they may require a 5x if they suspect using a mixer. The book may never use that clause, but it's still there. They also don't have to prove mixer use, they can just say they suspect it. If they actually require a 5x that something that could be acknowledged in a review.
That's a good example. If that point is there, the casino has the right to take advantage of it. Whether they will use said right is their discretion. It's certainly something I would consider unfair. And if you think about it, any use of a casino with crypto can be considered mixing your coins. You deposit your coins, which go into a big pool with those of other players and when you request a withdrawal, you get back something completely different with a different history behind it. You mixed your coins.

The same goes for confiscation of dormant accounts. The clause is there but may never be used.
I have noticed that with certain casinos while doing my checks for my Withdrawal Fees thread. My dummy accounts created only for that purpose suddenly stopped working in some instances. That means they deleted it from their systems after x amount of months without real use. It's not a problem, as long as they don't confiscate your deposits or winnings with it.

But online casinos also have dormant account fees. That's something that could be considered unfair. At least, it's in the grey area.
829  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Collatoralizing, Borrowing-Against, Leveraging or Arbitrage Of BTC As An Asset on: February 02, 2024, 04:56:02 PM
Ordinals aren't earning opportunities. They are a coordinated spam attack on the Bitcoin blockchain meant to make it ineffective for normal and cheap P2P payments. It's an organized attack by proponents of bigger blocks with the addition of finding a big enough market of interested parties in their inscriptions. Look at it like this: oh, so you don't want to increase the block size? Fine, now enjoy our never-ending attack on your small-block network.
830  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I created BitMan, gifting it to those who have contributed to Bitcoin. on: February 02, 2024, 04:45:34 PM
My concerns are:

You are trying to track down a rather elite group of individuals within our sphere, then you are want to contact them to send them an unsolicited piece of code.

I would likely think that many of these people are uncontactable or will not respond to the offer "free" gifts.
It's not an issue as long as the gifts are digital and don't require that the developers reveal any identifiable information about themselves or perform any sort of KYC. If identity verification was a requirement, we could question if there are any ulterior motives behind this action. But if it's just a token you could purchase yourself anonymously if you wanted to, I don't see a problem with it. Of course, the question is would real bitcoiners even want that.
831  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I need a bitcoin tumbler on: February 02, 2024, 04:37:48 PM
All coins passing through Jambler mixers are analyzed for taint, if they're rejected for being too dirty Jambler can decide to keep them.
Jambler is not a mixer, so it's not going to take possession of the coins going through it, as you said. It's a business offering everyone a chance to become a partner or an investor in the mixing business and make some money from it. As an end user of mixing services, you have no contact with Jambler.
832  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Overview] Comprehensive list of Crypto Sportsbooks v2 -Updated poll- on: February 02, 2024, 04:30:20 PM
Of all that you've mentioned, I believe that the unfair Terms and Conditions is probably is the most difficult thing that you can be different when it comes to other casinos because as much as you want to attract players with a fair and almost favoring them T&C, the need for the upkeep and survivability of the business would be the priority of any business owner and so there's just some terms and conditions that the players need to agree upon no matter what because doing so would be detrimental to the profits or the reputation of the casino.
When I mentioned unfair terms and conditions, it can mean many different things. For instance, some casinos are ok if you wager your deposits 0.5-1x if you are betting on sports. But I have also seen certain brands require 3x. That's quite a big difference and is something I consider to be unfair. If there are casinos that remain in business for years requiring a 0.5-1x wagering requirement of your deposits, there is no need to ask players to roll over their deposits 3 times. There are, of course, other examples as well, like betting limits and placing unfair minimum bets on player accounts, etc.
833  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Bitcoin Mixer? on: February 02, 2024, 04:12:00 PM
I think that theymos' idea is to exclude any advertising or recommendation of a mixer and it doesn't need to be a link. The rule, like any rule, must have loopholes that someone will try to exploit.
Trying to exploit the loopholes by playing around with the word filters is also against the mixer ban rules, so one shouldn't do that to be on the safe side.

For example, this post, in my opinion, is not in line with the mixer-ban rule, but it is still there and I see it as a kind of promotion without the link or even writing the full domain name. maybe no one reported it
You mean this thread and not my post that you quoted, right? The question and the OP's intentions aren't according to the new rules. But the replies of other users and the flow of communication is, so I think it's ok.
834  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Bitcoin Mixer? on: February 01, 2024, 03:36:17 PM
I think I read somewhere that you can mention the name of the mixer, but you cannot include a link, just mention the name.
That might work sometimes, other times it won't. Theymos has applied word filters to known associations with mixing services. But I don't know if those filters apply only to URLs or any mention of such mixers and similar combinations. Anyways, if you mentioned a banned word, the forum's settings will change it to show "banned service" or something along those lines.
835  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I need a bitcoin tumbler on: February 01, 2024, 03:28:20 PM
Sadly, the day we could recommend mixers on Bitcointalk are gone. However, we can talk about reliable sites discussing mixing and the theory of it.
Take a look at BitMixList. I just bookmarked it myself a few minutes ago. The website is created by a trusted Bitcointalk user. You will find what you are looking for there.

LoyceV already mentioned, but mixers and popular centralized exchanges aren't exactly friends. More precisely, the information exchanges receive from blockchain analysis companies about coins connected to mixers causes them to sound many alarms. If possible, stay away from CEXs.

Also stay away from Wasabi and their default coordinator that is partnered with a blockchain analysis company interested in de-anonymizing bitcoin transactions.
836  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitMixList.org - Bitcoin Mixer List on: February 01, 2024, 03:08:30 PM
This is a welcome addition, especially after the 2024 rule change regarding mixing services on Bitcointalk.
Someone else already created something similar, but said they have no plans to maintain it. So, this will be the second mixer source I bookmark. It can come in handy to do some cleaning when the fees drop.

I have two suggestions.

1. Please add dark mode if you can.
2. It would be nice to have some ratings for the services, but I understand that it could be difficult to add without sounding biased.
837  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I created BitMan, gifting it to those who have contributed to Bitcoin. on: February 01, 2024, 02:54:42 PM
I don't know what kind of messages can be shared via the Bitcoin developers mailing list and if announcements and advertisements of this kind are allowed, but if they are or if there is a way to get in contact with all the devs from there, you could give that a try. It would be just another source of worthy individuals who could receive those NFTs you plan to create.
838  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I created BitMan, gifting it to those who have contributed to Bitcoin. on: January 31, 2024, 06:48:09 PM
But here is the thing, whatever unique NFT piece of art you create for the contributors you deem worthy of receiving them, I can just go right click > save image as, and it's mine. I don't need or care about the signature that provides me with the sole ownership of said NFT. For the purpose of looking at or enjoying that piece of art (if that's what I want to do), it's not needed.
839  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 📖 BLOCKXS.COM - CRYPTO WEBSITE DIRECTORY on: January 31, 2024, 04:43:00 PM
I think you can improve on your wallet list.
Firstly, it mentions only a few software and browser-based wallets. There isn't one hardware wallet there. Perhaps you can take some names from https://thebitcoinhole.com/software-wallets when it comes to software wallets. It's a website created and maintained by another user of Bitcointalk.

I also feel like the wallet category, being as important as it is, should be much higher up on your website and not something placed in the end.
840  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Tor Powered Microblog & Privacy Coin Exchange on: January 31, 2024, 04:34:00 PM
Well besides installing microchips in human brains, clown Elon is also planning to transform X into his own payment platform, so maybe he ads exchange there  Tongue
I am thinking more in the direction of Twitter integrating crypto payments, but the ones Elon likes, such as Dogecoin, Shiba, meme coins, and similar ones that are easier to manipulate by him through his communication channels. I think there is already a limited tipping option that probably supports only a few selected countries in the West, but I haven't read much about it.
