there's no way he can hack into this forum to obtain user's IP addresses.

I hope you're joking, or just seriously misinformed. SMF has more holes than Swiss cheese.

[Facepalm] SMF is not a perfect forum software, but hacking it's user tables where IP data lays is very, very, hard. Last time it was done few months ago forum was down for a whole week, and if Observer did something similar you and me wouldn't be able to write all this. Observer is a troll, and why he wrote that bullshit he wrote is another question.

What? Have you ever been a forum admin? Cause I have, and you don't have to hack the DB to see users IP. Any admin with the right permissions can see it via his UI, and The Observer said he brute forced into cpanel so I can't see how is hacking the DB relevant at all here.

Lastly, i can assure you with 10000000000000000000000000000000000% certainty that NOBODY had to convince the server admins to temporarily take down the site while the company did their due diligence. As a matter of fact, the hosting company said that unless they were delivered a court order signed by a judge, ICANN, or another federal agency, they would not take down any clients website no matter what the accusations as it is bad business for them. They obviously could not comment directly on the hosting account in question, but could assure me 100% ( as if i didnt know it already ) that if the website went down that it was because the owner took it down.

In the end, as a newbie to the forum here i learned a very valuable lesson. TRUST NO ONE. When what appears to be a veteran member of the forum goes to such lengths to rip off the rest of the forum. I am just thankful this lesson didnt cost me anything.
So yeah, we managed to get the domain hosting company in L.A.to pull the plug on CTSminer.
Now I'm going to go jump off the nearest bridge...
Thanks for your help guys.
I can confirm what Searing just stated... Maui deserves that credit of chatting with the domain hosters. Thing is, when they registered their domain, it had already been hosted on another I.P., which was the very same IP that the butterfliabs scam site used to copycat Butterfly Labs site a couple months ago. It was sheer luck the domain hosting company was available via live chat, and they wasted no time taking action.
51 btc hurt my pride bigtime, ..  no denying  that.

I'll leave it at that.
823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Currency-Switching Pools questions on: January 28, 2014, 03:46:14 PM
Well, 3 important things I reckon:

1. Allow for auto trading the coin that is being mined for BTC (or any coin of the users choosing).
2. Allow the user to keep the coins he's mining as is (i.e. - opposite to #1 - don't auto trade it).
3. Keep the information about which coin you're currently mining a secret.
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt - CPU1: Idle for more than 60 seconds, declaring SICK! [Bounty 0.05] on: January 28, 2014, 07:17:48 AM
Try a couple of things:

1. Restart your PC, run CPU-Z than run CGminer and follow the temp of GPU 1 - as it could be from overheating, if this is the case than find a way to cool your GPU (more fans, new thermal paste, etc).
2. If the problem persists, reinstall drivers.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC Miners on: January 27, 2014, 03:48:03 PM
How do you think the next gen, ASIC rigs work for mining scrypt-based algorithms?  Considering scrypt mining utilizes graphic processing power & memory, whereas SHA mining utilizes only the GPU/CPU, will ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) based rigs work better for SHA than for scrypt?

there is no suchs thing as asic scrypt

really?  since scrypt only utilizes some processing power, wouldn't an application specific integrated circuit work better with scrypt?  Forgive my ignorance, I just heard about ASIC rigs yesterday.
Dude, you're mixing it all up, I could barely understand what you were typing. ASIC is SPECIFIC, and in our case, specific for SHA-256 algorithms, and as such, it cannot, and will not work for solving anything but SHA-256 algorithms.
What you need to look for is ASIC for Scrypt, which does not exist currently (except for some hybrid, but honestly, with its poor performance, I wouldn't be surprised if they just took chips form GPUs and integrated it).

So as cisahasa wrote, there is no such thing as ASIC for scrypt.
826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows 7 has KILLED my mining rig - MUCH help needed on: January 26, 2014, 08:02:57 PM
Hi, I am running a MSI 280x and a Sapphire 7950 and whenever i turn my rig on it freezes. So i took out my 7950 and it works again. I put my 7950 in another slot and it froze again!?!?!

UPDATE: I turned on the rig when i put the 7950 in another slot and it didn't freeze. Windows said.... installing driver software. Like the thing that happens when you put a new usb stick in etc

After it installed the drivers, the rig crashed. So currently i am running just a MSI 280x.

How can I fix this? My rig crashes on startup when my 7950 is in. It was working fine 2 days ago with both gpu's. So to put a long story short... windows crappy driver updates makes my rig freeze every time i put my 7950 in. Should I re-install catalyst?

Freezes where? If it does on windows loading screen than start in safe mode and see which file it fails to load (it will be the file after the last one shown - so just google "windows freeze after loading xyz file").
827  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Computer hardware for 400-600GH/s hashing on: January 26, 2014, 07:29:30 PM
Since it is relatively much easier for me to assemble a computer with a certain hardware specifications, I would like to know if 300-600 GH/s hashing possible with perhaps a high end computer? If yes, what configuration is required like ram, processor, graphic card etc. Not interested for ASIC, so looking for some alternates, less hashing is also fine. (Please exclude electricity consumption, I am aware about it).

That's not gonna happen.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1000w for 3x r9 290 on: January 26, 2014, 04:14:54 PM
Whats the W per 290 ? (250w)
i dont see were is the problem

290s are 300w cards, at least at stock volts / clocks.
No one was talking about stock settings.
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1000w for 3x r9 290 on: January 26, 2014, 03:41:09 PM
I got 3 x 290 Sapphire a lil bit overclocked...normal power not undervolt with a BeQuite 850w !
Seems fine so far working nonstop no problems at all

Platinum efficiency

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZwI9ZkRg68

That was when setting up the rig... now its kinda lil bit overclocked... dat psu seems rock
I had no doubt to be honest... its Seasonic parts into Bequite brand

Man, I'd get a 850w, at least gold, but damn, they're ALL sold out here and I can get a 1000w gold here cheaper than a 850w on ebay... so yea...
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1000w for 3x r9 290 on: January 26, 2014, 03:00:57 PM
may be took the wron topic, but i did some tests on it:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=189723;sa=showPosts

how do you do cooling? airflow? i assume its not a good idea to use a 1000W power supply. Propose a 1200W.

Greetings
Thanks, but after further research I came to the conclusion that even a 850w will be enough (but they're all sold out lol!). So I'll be buying a 1000w after all.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1000w for 3x r9 290 on: January 26, 2014, 02:59:44 PM
As the title implies: Will be able to power 3x r9 290 with a single 1000w PSU? I can get this Tesla R2 1000W for rather cheap.

Yes it should work, but don't overclock too much cause it would draw even more power...

Oh I won't. Trying to be as cost efficient as possible with the KH / w ratio.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: setup my own pool's for mining with Antminer S1's on: January 26, 2014, 12:18:48 PM
Well, just set your wallet as the pool and direct your miner to it
833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: setup my own pool's for mining with Antminer S1's on: January 26, 2014, 11:53:59 AM
Hi i want to setup my on pool server
I have Free power / 100Gb internet connection

LOL, asshwipe, Shut the fuck up, MY MISTAKE! haha

I showed you it, Now be gone bitch! xD

You haven't shown anything.

I heard someone on this forum sells Unicron rigs, go get em while he sells em cheap.
Also, I got a bridge to sell.

I'm heading to the drugstore downtown.......  Anyone else feel they need a tube of astroglide?

I find this image hard to masturbate to.
836  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is it worth investing in USB Block Erupters? on: January 26, 2014, 11:29:28 AM
There are some people ordering some TH/s scrypt mining rigs. But I cant find the source anywhere.

Lol no they aren't.

There's no ASIC for Scrypt mining except for this hybrid.
LOL, YES THERE ISSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Jk, There is some companies out there that build mining rigs like, Care to do some research before saying a invalid reply?  Wink
Care to show some proof? Some images with hashrates and such? Oh, you can't? Oh, you mean Alpha-T is making? Like BFL was? Like, they are taking pre-orders?
I see.
Got'cha  Wink

Eat this boy, Its healthy for that gap in your brain.  Wink

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=398504.0

Eat what exactly? First, those are 5MH/s and 25MH/s, NOT TH/s.
Secondly, Alpha-T... LOL, okai. Like they ain't a scam, go pre-order and come back crying a few months from now when you realized you got scammed.
Thirdly, see secondly.

Come back when you got real proof of existing ASIC for scrypt and not some scam sites with pretty pictures.

I just received an email from "Rebecca".  Below is her email and my response:
________________________________________________

Hi “Becca”,

The gig is up. We found that ctsminer.com was associated with the IP of 185.8.106.66 when it was first registered.  That is the SAME IP address that butterflyiab.com used to perpetrate their scam.  We can only come to the conclusion that you are a part of that scam and this new scam as well.

If we have made a mistake, please provide evidence.  If I don’t hear back from you, then I will know or sure that you are the same scam group that fooled many before.

If that is that case, you have my congratulations.  You guys are evil geniuses.  You played it so well and created a lot of data points that made it look legit. The phone number being only a single digit off of CMS was genius. And the british voice being so similar to their message was also amazing.  I fell for it hook line and sinker. I have never been scammed before and I learned a painful but valuable lesson.

Thank you,

Daryl

Hi Again Daryl,

Yes, although not been accepted by the wider Bitcoin audience, sales are still going very well.
As previously mentioned, Michael (my manager) and I have decided against any more PR on the forum until we can bring some more PR material and photographs (potentially next week) as we feel this will help.
I really appreciate what you have done and of course, pass that code onto your brother! Smiley

The unfortunate thing is we are in the UK and worldwide payment methods are far and few between.
Our bank cannot accept wire transfers outside of the UK and PayPal seems to be our only option at the moment.
Because of their rules regarding pre-orders, we are a bit stuck!

David, who runs the CTS sales team, is actually meeting on Wednesday with our bank manager to see if there is a way international bank transfers can be accepted.
This could help!

Thanks,
Becca

Kind regards,

Rebecca Saunders
Marketing Manager

1. They already have a prototype but they need a whole week to get a few pictures up.
2. They don't want to invest heavily into producing chips but they did invest in PR.
3. She completely avoided your IP question.
4. She appreciates what you have done... wat?
5. No international bank transfers and they are in the microprocessor industry for like 40 years or so (since 1975)? lolwat?
