821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who is the money manager? is it a casino or game provider? on: January 11, 2024, 08:51:46 PM
So who actually manages finances? is it the casino itself or the game provider?
Even without knowing too much about casino management, it's obvious that casinos are the ones who manage the finances. For instance, if you own a business and I own a business too, but your business provides my own business with its own resources that keep it going, fortunately or unfortunately, people get harmed or succeed from my business that leans on your own business for survival. It's never going to be your business that receives praise or threats, but yours can be one of the beneficiaries of the success of my business. So it is with casinos and game providers: casinos get everything to themselves, and game providers only get benefits or shares from casinos based on agreements.

Does the casino only get a commission from the game provider or buy the game license from the game provider?
This is either going to be the reverse is the case. but I can't really tell because I'm not in the system.
822  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto scams flourish most during bull runs. on: January 11, 2024, 08:28:56 PM
This is common in every industry, not just the crypto space, where scammers tend to use the trends to exploit newbies (beginners in every industry) who are willing to invest in such trends, maybe as a result of hearing testimonies of people who succeed with them. One thing is very certain: no enlightened person who has good knowledge of the crypto space will fall victim to such a scam, except that person who is just willful to throw away some money even after knowing the truth.

As it has been said earlier, what derives such action could be greed. Yes, most people missed out on Bitcoin when it was first launched and thereby misconcepted Bitcoin to every other shitcoin that promises some too good to be true results. Hence, due to greed investors invest in them hoping to reap good returns as those who have held Bitcoin since day 1. One thing I'm convinced of is that this scam project has already existed for like months now, just waiting for moments like this to shout their shots.
823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in meme coins is worthy or not? on: January 11, 2024, 06:02:41 PM
Memecoins are mostly pump and dump project. This memecoins are 99% scams or has the potential of losing it values with 24hrs because they're meant to enrich some set of people by scamming investors who will believe the too good to be true promising that are made by project team.

Personally I can invest in any coin that is not worth my attention like memecoins. they are no worthy of investment except I have too much money to throw away then I will might think of help the creators/team to make them rich lol  Grin

Infact to answer your question in the topic, my answer is NO they are not worthy
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A look at Injective Ecosystem & moonapp on: January 11, 2024, 05:43:04 PM
There are so many cryptocurrencies in the space, and this has led me to not engage with or keep all of them because it is very impossible for me to be following them all at the same time. For injective ecosystems or MoonApp I have probably never heard of such a token; maybe it's as a result of my being new to the crypto space, or maybe it's just one of the pump and dump tokens that are being promoted by shillers.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: HELP - transaction from crypto.com to ledger on: January 11, 2024, 04:49:32 PM
<...>
You are not wrong but you are not correct too. There is CRO as native token on its mainet, and there is CRO as erc20. The transaction shown by OP (txid) is from crypto.com address and was successfully sent to his address (according to him).
I probably don't get where you said I'm wrong but what I know is OP sent from his wallet which is below
Code:
 0xc9219731a....
To
Code:
 0x4e05f3c.....
which is obviously the mistake as shown by my first comment. The only thing here is if you search for the CRO token you might get confused on the right one to chose because there are lots of them which I don't understand the reason why there exist but the two main address are {CRO} Cronos chain which is the one that starts with 0x.... and {CRO} crypto.org which the crypto.org address is the correct one for OP for receive his sent out TX.
826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: HELP - transaction from crypto.com to ledger on: January 11, 2024, 03:59:07 PM
The problem OP is facing isn't what you understand it to be, OP is facing a problem because he ignored or was ignorant of the instruction that guides the transactions on crypto.org.

I might not be able to help op solve the problem because he has sent the TX already but the problem was that crypto.org doesn't send out CRO tokens to any wallet address that starts with 0x. it can only be sent to any wallet that starts with cro******. So op obviously ignored the warning or wasn't aware that such caution existed.

If OP gets lucky and the TX is reversed then he can create a trust wallet account (or any other wallet that supports Cronos) and generates a CROs address that starts with cro like this below
Code:
 cro1u4kwe9gdpq66whjf6e6gk6f8wpamkj6g9v0sf3
then he can now successfully move it to any wallet of his choice.

I choose trust wallet because I'm more convenient with it. though the native wallet for Cronos is keplr
827  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Two things I (we) noticed in the local board on: January 11, 2024, 01:25:25 PM
<...>
I so much love this forum. A forum that creat thread for all discussion. The forum has created an off-topic thread for discussion that are not crypto related or that is just a mere discussion. I always wonder why such post are still seen in our local board. Post that are just mere discussion, news or post that has no real impart to the community should be posted in the off- topic thread.
Yeah, the forum got all type of discussion covered. but your concerns are much related to mine that people just post off-topic to local board but from some few comments above I guess we are wrong for thinking in this direction because it's said that other local boards do the same. Or maybe all this are caused by a single reason which is, naija LB still lacks moderator (moderation) for now and this could also be a reason for us to pray for theymos to grant all Naija local board request then all this issues will begin to be fixed by the new mod we anticipate.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to check if an altcoin is a scam on: January 11, 2024, 01:12:56 PM
One thing you must know is, all this points just helps a little bit to increase ones security or aid a bit in knowing where we are putting in our money but it doesn't guarantee anything. because tokens can surpass all this points listed by Op and yet be a scam.

I have seen tokens that are pure scam but lasted for a long time in order to prove a point that they aren't scam just to bring interests of investors and as soon as the target is gotten they disappear from the chart.

The only thing we have to do is (DYOR) do your own research on anything you wish to invest in and because of the rate of scam project that is why we hear most of the time that only invest what you can afford to lose, hence nothing is guaranteed.
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When is the next alt season? on: January 11, 2024, 12:54:37 PM
The majority of my portfolio is in altcoins and I am currently 29% in profit which I am happy with considering the Bitcoin halving is still 3 months away.

That's a good percentage you have achieved I'm still trying to get my altcoin stash to a health state as yours and others which I have seen. I probably don't want to miss any opportunity this time because I wasn't part of the past bull run.

This is my first bull run over the next few years so I am just wondering when do altcoins usually start really pumping, is it long after the Bitcoin halving?
Since Bitcoin is the core motive that derives all Altcoins to increasing in price the bull run of Altcoins are going to ride along with bitcoins bull run because there is no specific time for Altcoins halving so it will pump side by side with Bitcoin.
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins profits or bank profits, which best? on: January 11, 2024, 11:29:24 AM
I am still confused why someone who have to compare the profits that would be made when we trade or invested in altcoins.
The differences is very clear and we need to know where we are doing because bank is not ready to give us the kind of interest that we thing we deserve. There is more profits to be made when we invest in good altcoin projects rather than depending on banks to give us peanuts as interest for keeping our funds in the bank for a limit time.
I certainly understand your point but from the perspective of OP it's comparable.

The OP isn't talking about our bank deposits rather investments. the point is that investors (people who buy shares of banks) might make good profit more than people who invest in Altcoins. Yes for those who purchased shares of a bank they are certainly going to be on a safer side because there investment is guaranteed based on agreement and they have nothing to lose even if the bank goes bankrupt, the bank owners are in debt to the investor based on the laws that guide such investment and must be payed so the bank investors seems to be on a better side than altcoin investors.

If someone invests in an altcoin from what you said it can be blown away in 24hrs but for bank investment it can't be blown away for any reason. Though investing in crypto can give higher returns but the risk is higher than it's return especially when it has to do with alts.
831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: January 10, 2024, 11:57:46 PM
Naturally, it's assumed that women are more intelligent and smart than men, but this doesn't apply to gambling because every individual is responsible for his or her actions. No matter the characteristics of a woman, she can't be a better gambler than a man. There are certain things that are obviously left for men to partake in, and gambling is one of them. Though there are some feminists who believe in equality and thereby partake in almost everything men do, it's never possible for women to be better gamblers than men, including the point listed by Oilacris.

In a nutshell, it's not about gender but about individuality. Your gender does not guarantee that you will be better than others.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to research a quiet crypto company? on: January 10, 2024, 08:50:36 PM
The website isn't legit from my view because it's still very tender, so I wouldn't advise anyone to do anything with such a fresh business or investment.

From my little observation, I don't see this as what you are playing it to be. Though you said you were kicked out of another forum, it still doesn't justify that you're legit or that your intentions are to seek knowledge, but you are probably still shilling in a polite manner or with a little bit of a convincing approach.
I suppose I am not the only one seeing this from this perspective because, from your first post in this forum, you were probably promoting another site too.
833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will be the next hype in crypto? on: January 10, 2024, 08:39:10 PM
I am looking closely at the chain networks. Like Solana or any other layer-2 networks.
As you can see, Solana started to pump, and other Ethereum alternative platforms followed like Arbitrum. So for me, I am still looking forward on other networks, especially layer-2 networks.
Yeah, that's a very good observation that you have made. Looking at things from there past performances we are probably going to make things right or should I say succeed with our predictions.

I'm also going to look at layer-2 networks hopefully im going find the next hype there. For me and very much fomo about the next hype because I don't want to be in the space and see things happen when I'm not part of it.
834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Things in Binance Under New CEO - What are your thoughts? on: January 10, 2024, 04:06:50 PM
OP Edit; it's Richard Teng the new CEO of binance.

On the other hand, I haven't really noticed any change in binance even with your point, even while CZ is away he promised and I'm convinced he wouldn't let his investment or biggest project fail because of a circumstances. so I'm pretty sure that his eyes are on whatever is going on binance right now.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: “X” users are struggling as Crypto Scams in Ads,officials have no clear respons on: January 10, 2024, 03:37:31 PM
This is common on all social platform, though X has the highest rate based on my biases but the truth is this scams ads can't be easily eradicated but can be reduced, only if artificial intelligences can be put out and for humans to regulate and thoroughly check ads before approval.

I'm also concerned about the comfortability of X current CEO because his concerned about others business but never takes time to look at his own business flaws. Well, we all know how insecure the internet is so we just have to be more careful.
836  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is newbie and how long does it take to navigate the forum? on: January 10, 2024, 03:34:07 PM
I guess there is a misconception of what the word newbie means; you could relate to Mk4's comment. Someone could have a lot of experience but still be considered a newbie in the forum because of the ranking system. but no matter how long one is here, it doesn't determine how much knowledge they could have about Bitcoin.

I often see people posts like don't teach others when you are a newbie
I suppose choice of word is what led to your misconception. I practically do not use the phrase to say the same thing; I prefer to say "you cannot give what you don't have," meaning you shouldn't teach what you don't know. So it's not bad for a newbie to teach what he or she knows. I have seen myself correct a couple of senior colleagues even as a newbie, what I get from that is merit because I actually know the truth, but I'm just low in rank. Right now as a member I still considered myself a newbie because I'm not well aquatinted with Bitcoin knowledge.

In a nutshell, your rank here in the forum doesn't determine how knowledgeable you are but only shows how long you have been or how active you have been participating in good conversations. The dictionary newbie is very much different from the forum newbie but still points in the same direction.
837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Blockchain Games Revolutionize the Gaming Industry? on: January 09, 2024, 10:50:39 PM
It's fascinating how blockchain gives in-game items real-world value. But I'm curious, do you think this will change the core motivations for playing? Will fun still be the main driver, or will maximizing earning potential take over?
This whole Arbitrum Layer 3 thing for traditional gamers sounds promising too. Cause It could be something big here, especially if they start bringing out some killer games.

But I'm not saying it's guaranteed to moon and all. Although the price has been on an upward trend since the listing.
Although games have had in-game items that have real world value even before the intervention of blockchain, people still played, so probably people will still play for the sake of fun. Your curiosity isn't wrong. The traffic might increase for the sole aim of profit.
838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy Birthday Bitcoin. Its been 15 year mined first Block. 🎂 on: January 09, 2024, 10:05:30 PM
Well, The Cryptovator you have done well for remembering one of the biggest days of Bitcoin. Today is the anniversary of first Bitcoin ever mined, I will always appreciate the effort of the creator of Bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto and his friends for inventing a currency that obviously deviated from the control system of few persons who call themselves governments.
839  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto: a place where everyone makes money, but few secure it on: January 09, 2024, 02:19:27 PM
Money management has always been a problem, with people failing. As Helena Yu said, it doesn't just happen in the crypto world; it happens in almost every industry. People then try to impress the world with luxurious lifestyles that cost them almost everything, living the rest of their lives in regret.

I have heard of a lot of smart people who lack financial knowledge but remain successful because they are wise in other aspects. For instance, I have heard of individuals who made a huge profit from Bitcoin, and because they couldn't handle it, they just employed people to teach them or help them invest, and these experts helped them maintain this wealth, so they didn't fall back to square one. The fact is, even if one is not money-wise, they should be wise in other aspects.
840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What triggers the zeal to invest? on: January 09, 2024, 01:54:41 PM
There is always a feeling attached to every moment, especially when there are testimonies. it triggers one to also want to feel among but the fact that you chose to know the basics before you invest is what shows that you're smart enough to make decisions. Even with all the feels what makes me want to invest in Bitcoin is the knowledge I have gather and the primary aim of making profit from a long term investment.

Nobody should ever "invest" in Bitcoin because Bitcoin is not an investment, nor is it a way to get rich or make profit.

Bitcoin is the only existing decentralized and censorship resistance form of money. Instead of thinking about making more of your inflating fiat without cap that keeps being printed billions and trillions at a time, try thinking about using the only money that has a cap and will never be printed more than 21 million BTC. Wink
Over time now, bitcoin has seems to be an investment than a decentralized money that it's meant to be, well this is just the secondary purpose of investing in bitcoin because it comes after been aquatinted with the pros and cons of Bitcoin or it comes after knowing the intention of Satoshi.
