Two things I (we) noticed in the local board

Hello, our Nigerian (Naija) local board!

Recently, I have been so concerned about this local board and the activities here. There are two important things that I (we) have noticed here on the local board and wish to make known to everyone in order to call our attention and hence reduce or probably put an end to such acts.

1. In the cost of posting or actively participating in the forum (local board), people (especially newbies and beginners) have recently increased the shit posts here, bringing in posts that belong to social media or issues that aren't related to the sole purpose of the forum or local board to discuss here.
I wouldn't quote anybody or mention anyone here because I don't want it to be construed from a different perspective or seen as personal attacks. It's good to participate in discussions in the forum, but that doesn't mean one should just publish any sort of thing here. Be mindful of what you wish to publish; let it be at least impactful and relate to the sole purpose of the forum.

2. This is not so concerning, but at least it's needed. For everyone of us here who is delighted to write in pidgin, we should write them well. I noticed some misconceptions in our local language (pidgin). Most of us here, while communicating with pidgin, tend to write in our social media communication language (shortcut) spelling. Although it's not bad, where I became concerned was that while I was reading some translations with pidgins, I saw those shortcuts written in there. For example: Mk Una 4 uses this example. So I thought of how to improve our pidgin writing, and there I discovered it's even harder to find pidgin translator apps, so it's mostly done manually. Well, for us to write our Nigerian pidgin very well, I suggest we (especially Naija local board translators) should go to the Jahoval Witness website (JW.ORG) and read most of their translations to become well acquainted with our Naija pidgin.

Note: I'm also part of the number 2. So we all should just keep trying our best to write in the proper way.

For me this your number two, I no think say na issue. There is no difference between pidgin and shortcut or short hand writing so long persin wey dey read am dey understand and flow with am. Even basically d tin wey dey gud about d pidgin stuff na make e be say na only us wey get dis board go fit know wetin we dey do inside dis place but na as we dey remis with oyibo parol e con be like say other pepo go enta here and easily know wetin we dey yawn here. If persin write such short hand I tink say na still part of the pidgin, the only tin na to write wetin persin go understand. If we dey send SMS for phone, we dey use different ways to shorten wetin we dey write and yet deliver the purpose of the msage. Like example we sabi say for naija pidgin parlance, we dey use 2 as to, 4 as for, d for the etc and so if persin still use dem for here, we suppose fit still know wetin d persin dey yawn, so no issue as far as pidgin concern.

You do well for the matter wey you bring, but wetting me i see for here na because this we 9ja local board no get moderator. because if moderator dey or say dem no pin some rules for the top or say we no get sub board to differentiate the topics, most shitpost wey dem dey drop here na delete them for dey delete am. The second one wey you say make people go lean pidgin for jw.org, I no see any difference because Pidgin na Pidgin and e no get Google translator so any how person write am we don understand am. When I see am self I think say na where person fit translate English to pidgin but as I go check am I just discover say na Just normal write up wey dem don already program.

I reason with wetin Samlucky O, talk for dis matter, we need moderator and sub board for dis our local board, so dem go de help us to de moderate di board, if dem see post wey no make sense na to delete or move am to di appropriate board wey e belong. Also I notice say almost all di oda local boards get sub board, and if we also get am e go help to reduce di issues of where posts belong. Our ogas dem don address dis issue before, and e still de happen, most newbies no get experience of wetin dem suppose post, but gradually dem go de learn. Where wahala go de na if experienced members de bring low quality or irrelevant posts.

For di second matter I believe say pidgin English no get dictionary, na free style slang, so make you just try to understand wetin di person de try talk about. Although di content of some people writing de very poor, weda na English or pidgin.

As we no get sub boards for here, come dey very hard to filter Bitcoin related posts from other sub topics but I believe with time we go upgrade into wetin we don dey hope for.

Pidgin just dey like native language for naija but no be everybody sabi speak am still and some people are very much acquainted to English than pidgin even though they can hear it but cannot write or be able to speak it. For those wey no sabi the pidgin wella, na why d two languages, pidgin and English dey accepted for here for our members to speak. We no need any translators as far as wetin d person dey try talk about dey very understanding to us, so no cause for alarm wey we dey speak for here since we all understand am.

Yeah, the forum got all type of discussion covered. but your concerns are much related to mine that people just post off-topic to local board but from some few comments above I guess we are wrong for thinking in this direction because it's said that other local boards do the same. Or maybe all this are caused by a single reason which is, naija LB still lacks moderator (moderation) for now and this could also be a reason for us to pray for theymos to grant all Naija local board request then all this issues will begin to be fixed by the new mod we anticipate.

Your post is welcoming and lately I have noticed such junk posting in this LB. This issue of nonsense posting has been addressed before yet some people won't learn. My own is that they will eventually get tired of posting these rubbish when they noticed that nobody is getting interested in their post and the merits they are looking for is not coming. Possibly they think that buy creating nonsense posts they will be merited or merits comes by the number of topics created.

Our high-ranked members for the local board be don look into this kind of matter and pass judgment say nobody wey post shitpost or spam Post they go report the post to the moderator wey go fit to take action against the user. But you know Naija? since they never punished any users of the shitpost or spam post they no go like stop am but once any user is punished others will be careful with what they are posting on the local board or they go even show the person wey they know for the local board their post before they post for local board.

It will be good if our request is being granted by Theymos. It will definitely help this our local board. Just as you've said, if we get a moderator in the thread i believe he will definitely help to filter out some unnecessary post.

But one thing you must know is that here is a community and as a community expect all forms of information and any post that may arise from any angle because we can't keep limiting people not to share any other information from social media, you can share any information from any media platform provided that information is legit and pure no one is limited so for we to say that we should stop that looks so biased if you ask me very well. The important thing should be that all information shared should carry authentication link or author link to prove that such information is being gotten from a particular website without plagiarism

Currently like this our boss them don dey take action move off topic threads to off topic board, and if them do you that kind thing, you supposed dey disappointed at your self. So make we try increase quality post and Bitcoin discussion for this board. Newbies una see say the merit distribution no dey flow well, and that na because na only one merit source wey we get for this local board. If to say we get reach 3 or 2 e for dey better, but as e don be, our boss them still go apply to become merit source. But Theymos never still accept am, and that fit be because of say e dey see shitpost them for the board, meanwhile we dey tell am say many quality dey wey no get merit.

So no be say we dey try to dey rude or we just feel like to wicked, the benefit of wattin we dey do na everybody go enjoy, by the time we get extra merit source we all go dey get merit for our quality post wey we sit down construct of more than 20min. wrong quoting is what I have tried to avoid so much but it seems it still occurs, you should have used at least few minutes to read thoroughly to comprehend my intentions from creating this thread. I supposed you misunderstood what I was trying to pass as an information. I'm not talking about copying posts from social media without providing links buddy! What I meant was that some people just post whatever comes to there minds in the local board and that has chased most of our senior colleagues away from the LB.
Like a recent post by Funke which was moved to off topic was a typical example of what i meant, posting things like the recent prayers of a prominent pastor of salvation ministries during his current program. How does that relate to Bitcoin or the local board most times not everyone here is a Christian why bring such discussion over here.

I suppose if you look into the users posting style or topics you will understand what the thread or the quoted part meant not the way you perceived it.
