821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling Generally An Illicit Activity? on: October 26, 2023, 04:06:24 PM
what I can say about people living in those countries that gambling is prohibited by the law as illegal they should as well avoid gambling while they're still there, they can always gamble when they get to another state or country where gambling is allowed to exist. I understand it won't be that easy to avoid particularly for an activity you feel entertained with but as to stay away from trouble.
But even so, there are still those in countries where gambling is prohibited who force themselves to gamble and use many methods to keep gambling. These people seem to have experienced the pleasures of gambling so when they see gambling was banned in their country, they lost something. They will try to gamble again so they can feel the pleasure.

But it's better if they don't try to gamble if the state prohibits it. It will keep them out of trouble, especially when there are checks from the government. So whether gambling is an illicit activity or not depends on the country.
hmm there are stubborn people who will always want to outsmart the laws that not in their favour of which I am no support of rule breaking but if they deem fit that it's worth to risk it by gambling still despite the laws in place and are able to conceal it through any method, no problem. Nevertheless, the law has its way of catching up with those persons that thinks they are too smart.

Recently, online gambling has now turned to a route through which drug barons, traffickers, corrupt politicians etc conceal and launder money to hide from being caught it is for this argumentation that governments of some countries place a ban on gambling within their jurisdiction. However, for the revenue the gambling generates to government some countries decides to regulate and monitor it's activities and operation while they pay tax to government.
In the end, the state needs taxes from the gambling industry even though they know there are illegal activities carried out in the gambling industry. And money launderers can continue to use gambling as a place to launder money. And even though they have to pay the taxes, that's nothing for the money launderers. After all, they have a lot of money.
There are states that heavily depends  on gambling taxes to meet up with its annual budgets so even with the laundering racketeering happening within the gambling industry which   they are in tone with they (government) are left with no choice but to let the gambling companies exist and operate because a ban on gambling activities would mean a stop to their taxes they get.
822  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Access bank hack: 500 USDT traders on Binance exchange bank accounts frozen on: October 25, 2023, 10:07:42 PM
2. Backwardness of our country in terms of blockchain education because no information from Accessbank whether dem contact Binance exchange to see if the USDT dey there so that Binance go freeze am.

I doubt if the hacker go dey that stupid to leave the USDT on Binance exchange. After buying USDT from the traders, it's either him send am to him personal wallet or buy Bitcoin with it. If him send the USDT to him personal wallet, access bank go fit contact Tether to freeze the funds, but if him buy Bitcoin, dem no go fit really do anything than to the monitor the address. If him buy Bitcoin and send am to a mixer, the fund is gone forever. On a second thought, I come dey reason why the hacker buy USDT at the first place when him supposed buy Bitcoin and mix am. E fit be say the hacker don jonse and na something wey Access bank supposed capitalize on, instead dem dey busy dey chase and freeze innocent traders accounts upandan.

https://news.bitcoin.com/nigerian-bank-reportedly-freezes-accounts-belonging-to-500-usdt-traders/
it's as simple as this, Access bank not that they don't know the right thing to do to get back their hacked funds but because they feel following the right procedures would cost them time and energy so they go for the weaker bait to use them as scapegoat in the case.

It is a prominent attitude among Nigerians and it's institutions in always looking for victims that would pay for nothing they know about just to make a case stand when there's supposed to be none.  As a financial institution binance will be very happy to work with them in capturing the hacker with is binance account get his funds freezed and forfeited but unfortunately this is Nigeria.

Being denied a loss bonus wether you're worthy of it or not doesn't warrant whosoever made up this horror scary hoax to go to this length maybe just to send a message or what! This is a casino company that's just recovering from a hack that threatened it's customers base and now this just for what because I don't understand why people would risk doing this never thinking about the following consequence of their action in the eyes of the law. Can't imagine what the stakes community are going through right now after seeing this barbaric propaganda one that's life threatening.

Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling?
Have seen a lot of this type of post can we not talk about something new that's entirely different from this discussion about keeping and not keeping gambling records. No offense to the op but am just expressing my concerns.

Quote
Many here will feel that this is waste of time and will also not let them enjoy the game peacefully. Do you also have same mentality?
of course it's a waste of time doing that. I don't see myself spending time to note down each loss or even winnings I make. Am I giving myself a financial audit at the end of my gambling year that I should be keeping records about them losses and wins?  Enjoy the fun and leave the records to the gambling house  Grin

827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling Generally An Illicit Activity? on: October 25, 2023, 09:04:52 AM

Hi guys, coming through with a rather odd question this morning.

So, i was looking up on Wikipedia the meaning of Money Laundering , and below is a quote of how the site defined the term "Money Laundering"

Quote
Money laundering is the process of illegally concealing the origin of money, obtained from illicit activities such as drug trafficking, corruption, embezzlement or gambling, by converting it into a legitimate source. It is a crime in many jurisdictions with varying definitions. It is usually a key operation of organized crime.

So, after i saw that Gambling was mentioned or listed among the listed illicit activities through which money can or could be laundered, I can't help but wonder if gambling is actually an illicit activity.

Wikipedia did not mention gambling being an illicit activity in their definition of gambling here, why then did they mention gambling as one of illicit activity through which money laundering can be carried out?

Please check this out and share your thoughts.
Gambling is found in that definitional context of money laundering because it's illegality is based on jurisdictional laws. In some societies mostly those of the Arabs the law frowns against gamble making it an illegal activity for people to engage in and if caught or any money found with you gotten from gambling could be referred as illicit money more like money laundering because you're concealing the source of the money. But this doesn't apply in places like Las Vegas or Australia where gambling is viewed and accepted almost by all as a recreational activity that comes with reward. So it's for places like this that op you couldn't find anywhere where Wikipedia made mention of gambling as an illicit active directly defined.
In some countries, gambling can be interpreted as a illicit activity by the people so that people who gamble can be punished according to the penalties in that country. But that doesn't make gambling a prohibited activity in other countries because if the country accepts gambling as entertainment, people can gamble whenever they want.

what I can say about people living in those countries that gambling is prohibited by the law as illegal they should as well avoid gambling while they're still there, they can always gamble when they get to another state or country where gambling is allowed to exist. I understand it won't be that easy to avoid particularly for an activity you feel entertained with but as to stay away from trouble.

Quote
But indeed, gambling can be a place to launder money like in other places. Especially if someone uses crypto to bet, they can buy crypto in many places, use it to gamble and when they win, they withdraw the money. The government will not know about this unless the government can work together with all parties to monitor suspect accounts.

So it depends on the position of the country. How the country considers gambling and if the country allows its people to gamble, that means gambling is not an illicit activity.

829  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: October 25, 2023, 06:34:13 AM
It seems to me there are many people out there which have a mistaken view out of gambling, after all there are people that enjoy having a beer from time to time and no one ever says to them they should quit it as they could become alcoholics, and there are some that even argue that drinking a little bit of alcohol could be good for your health, however when it comes to gambling, if people get to know you like to gamble they will begin to advice you leave it behind, even if it is none of their business what you do with your money.
Maybe that's because the effects of gambling are more pronounced and can be seen in real terms and can impact many things and many people. Maybe an alcoholic can be better than a gambling addict, even though both have negative effects. That's why people will immediately advise you to reduce gambling or even stop gambling if they know you often gamble. They suggest this because maybe they have often seen what happens when someone experiences a gambling addiction and they don't want you to experience the same thing. So that's probably why people still hide their gambling activities from people because they don't want to hear other people say they should stop gambling immediately before things get bad.
just go with the mindset that people must talk in whatever we're doing be it drinking of alcohol or gambling they will always tryna find words to punch at us to make what we doing look bad to our conscience and person. They don't care to check if you're holding on in there making sure to be drinking or gambling responsibly they just want to pretend to care whereas behind they themselves have worst things they do in secret that's unthinkable compared to gambling. In some society they have given a wrong perspective about gambling and this has forced some persons that are gamblers to hide their gambling habit to avoid unsolicited advice and talks.
830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A person who won 600k$ in lottery on: October 25, 2023, 06:23:12 AM
Without a doubt a business can fail and you could lose that money as well, however someone that is looking to create a business out of their lottery profits has more chances of generating more money and remain with such high standards of living for the rest of their lives, while someone that just spends their money away will eventually run out of money and they will have no choice to downgrade and try to live in a more modest way, something that is very difficult to do for anyone that thought they have finally become wealthy.
If the person get the money from the lottery,it will be the unexpected money from the source. So mostly the gambler will start the business using the money, business will be the most liked one.Everyone like to have some business apart from all the real jobs, because only the business make us rich person. The labour based system only made you like a money dependent on every month.Their was huge difference between the person who do business by saving the money and the person who do business using the lottery winning money. So the person who do business with lottery winning should be cautious not to lose it.
Starting a business from money from lottery winnings would be worth doing because at least, he wouldn't have to look for a loan to start his business or raise money before he could start his business.
He just needs to start his business according to the plan he has prepared and run his business while trying to develop his business so that it can be even bigger.
At least this has made it easier for him to have his own business.
Later, if his business can develop, he won't need to gamble to make money.
But if the lottery winner instead uses his money to gamble again or buy another lottery ticket, he may not get the chance to win the jackpot again because that is for the next lucky people..
Have heard and seen a lot of gamblers lavish and waste away huge amount of money the won either from the lottery or casino gambling and this happens because they didn't had an already laid down plan on how they could spend and invest their money should they win a big amount that's a life changer. And when fortune smiles at them and they win such gigantic amounts they get overwhelmed with what to do with it  they start living a lifestyle they previously couldn't afford forgetting that the money will finish as it's constantly spent without investing for returns.

If my stars get me a fortune win of over 7 figures I won't think twice before starting up a business, business that provides services that meet the needs of people. With such a business it won't take long before you become successful and more Eicher compared to working for someone else for 35 years. You can never get richer than your employee being an employee
Those who have won a lot of money from gambling and instead waste their winnings by buying things they don't need or even use it to gamble in the hope of winning another large amount of money will only regret it when they find out that all their winnings are gone.
But if they can wisely use their money according to what they need and can prepare it for their future, they will not worry because they will see that their future will be even better.
This depends on the thoughts of each person who managed to win a lot of money because they have different opinions about what the winning money is for and should have started planning how to use it.
They will have no difficulty surviving if they can use their winnings well.

It's good if you think of starting a business with that winning money because that's what we have to do if we succeed in winning a lot of money from gambling.
We will have no difficulty starting a business because we already have a lot of capital to use and go straight to the next stage to develop our business become bigger.
Yea it does depend on the thoughts of each person, there's this conventional believe among some sets of gamblers that money won from gambling is meant to be enjoyed and forget your sorrows,  with such low mental kind of thought it doesn't take much time before a person squander whatever large amount of money he must have won hoping to win another big game again.

More still there are persons that are afraid to do business or should I say don't have passion for business which makes them waste away the money on luxuries but that's stupid. If you ain't good at business you can still invest that money by building your own rental apartments and give it out for rent and be making your monthly or yearly income from it without having to do business . I hope I win a very large amount of cash someday I'll never lack ideas on how to utilize it.
831  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buying at 35k? on: October 24, 2023, 03:57:00 PM
Hallo people,

I bought some bitcoin at 26/27/30 and 31k. all profit so far, I am thinking about buying more, but is 35k te expensive to buy bitcoin?
Today the price looks expensive because there's a rise that's now making the rounds but tomorrow (next 1year) this same price will now be looking a lower amount because by then it might be 2x higher than what it is today. If you have a plan of hodling long then this price at $35 isn't  anything near expensive when  correlated with bitcoin market cap.

Have you stop to consider how you felt when you bought at 26k/27k/30k and now the price has bounced up to 35k doesn't that says much that in the coming month's we're going to see a more higher price than this? Keep DCAing mate the only time bitcoin would be said to be expensive is when it gets to it's market cap.
832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 24, 2023, 03:04:30 PM
Over the weekend, Sevilla had a 1-1 draw with one of the big boys in the la Liga, this could sound like a possible morale for them to see themselves fit enough to stand against the English giants, the gunners, back in 2007/08 Sevilla were able to win the gunners at home In a UCL game too, this happened to be one of their greatest hit against an English team.

Considering the current form Arsenal has and their experience do far in the UCL they are supposed to win Sevilla stress free but then Sevilla will be having the home advantage once again just like they did back in 2007/08, this will be one of the first UCL game Sevilla's current coach will be having against arsenal, Arteta is more experienced than he is with the UCL, so I expect arteta to put up a better tactics with which he can get a possible win over Sevilla but then the worse that could happen would be a draw and arteta doesn't need such , for him it's a win or nothing.
There's an over-hype with this Arsenal team playing against Sevilla today, the UCL is not like the EPL, in the UCL teams are assumed to be of equal strength not minding how they are performing fine in their respective league's. Lens beating arsenal wasn't expected and Sevilla are a more better team to Lens indicates that arsenal are doubtlessly going to have a hard time beating Sevilla. Artheta needs to be very strategic in this game because he's playing a side with a strong defense line that doesn't make it simple for strikers to penetrate. Arsenal needs nothing order than a win in this game but that's not guaranteed with Sevilla playing at home.

Not many casinos have a demo mode at the moment they probably rely more on streamers to attract new users and the demo mode is usually in old casinos often so that way it can attract a lot of users, I always win a lot of money on demo mode but that's their marketing system to attract attention when they are awarded a big win in demo mode will usually increase their confidence to gamble and make deposits.

Demo mode is provided by the provider, not by the casino. I dont understand where did you get the information that demo mode is usually in old casinos only. I think that you have less experience only with this demo mode, or maybe you are referring to other demo mode which is not the demo mode as referred by komisariatku.

Yes, that's right, as far as I know, the demo mode is provided by slot machine providers, but not all sites provide a demo mode. I play on a local gambling site and it doesn't provide a demo mode there. Maybe the casino can disable the demo mode of the provider.

I have tried the demo mode but haven't experienced such big wins yet and as far as I know the demo mode works in the same way as we bet the real money and the only difference is fake credits and no difference in the outcomes. Correct me if I am wrong.

How often you try demo mode and how long you play in 1 session? If it is just small size of sample, it is reasonable if you have not experienced big wins with it. There is a specific thread about this demo mode but I forget the title, maybe you can search it and see what most people think about demo mode of slot games.

To get maxwin or bigwin you have to play many times. If you're lucky, it won't take long to win 1000x the bet. But if you have bad luck, it may take longer. Even though I got Maxwin in demo mode, the sensation was less exciting because we couldn't withdraw the money
when playing demo we play it casually without much vested interest or engrossment and that is because we know whatever amount we win is of no relevance to usand the beautiful results we simply get in demo if we're to get same results with real gaming or bets a robust number of gamblers would have been living rich because demo just makes outcomes look easy to come by.

There are more big wins in demo than we get in real life bets and if we're to take a demo mentality to play real live gambling we will be disappointed. Demo can be liken to football training the intensity is not the same with when the actual match has started with an opponent.

The funny part about sportbetting gambling is that a gambler will calm down do his study about the form and strength of a team and from that makes his prediction places his bet and still doubt or have fears if the results of the game will actually play out as predicted or not. I don't know much about casinos on this but in sport bets despite the gambler not having control of the outcome of his predictions he has a 0.01% in deciding the possibility of the outcome of our prediction to be in line with results if you have a good knowledge of the teams you're betting on based in your already worked down analysis. To say the least, even after all of the entire analysis we still let in anxiety and fear about the bet winning or losing. For me I just play and keep my fingers cross.

I came across a very interesting article about fake streamers https://www.ltccasino.com/fake-streamers-exposed

Some facts and arguments struck me as very curious. I had never really thought about why nowadays the Twitch and Kick platforms have become so full of people streaming online casinos there.

Having little experience playing at online casinos, I can't be sure that everything written in this article is true. What do you think about it?

It's very interesting to hear the opinion of experienced players and people who are versed in this subject.
if we are to incline our self to online casino streamers we are just going to fall from one misguided online gambling site to another, a good number of those online streams are a sponsored stream. Doing your own research before interesting yourself to any of it is the only pragmatic step not to fall for a cheap commodity that was highly exalted, that's me being figurative.
We may wonder why this keep happening, let me tell you, the vested interest is mutual, the streamer does what he does for a living likewise these fake casinos and I'd your gullible to fall for it then you're the one paying for their shits so the article didn't lie.
837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 23, 2023, 09:51:06 PM
So far, it seems that the Tottenham Hotspur team have been doing well despite the absence of Harry Kane.
I put it up for the manager who has been more than efficient in handling the players and making sure of the replacement for Harry Kane even in times when he would mostly be missed.

Fulham's blunders certainly has to be worked on an a better understanding and communication would be what they need to work on to be better this season.
Yes, there is no problem with Tottenham performance although they lost Harry Kane. Tottenham still has Son and Richarlison for the attackers. Moreover, the support from Maddison and Kulusevski makes Tottenham attacking be more solid now. Tottenham is leading the EPL standings, it is even better than previous season when they still have Harry Kane. Currently, Tottenham is the team that has the biggest chance to win EPL trophy this season. It is actually a bit surprising.

Regarding the current match, Tottenham leads with 2 goals. No doubt that they will win the match. The goals are made by Son and Maddison, they succeed to get 3 points today

I never expected Fulham to win Tottenham because this season Tottenham performance has been outstanding. I placed my bet that Tottenham will win the match and I am not surprised at the result because Tottenham is stronger than Fulham.

Since the absence of Kane, Son has taken over the responsibility of scoring goals just like Kane. He has contributed a lot to Tottenham success this season and I believe that he will continue in his super performance till the end of the season.
Kane moving to Bayern ordinarily I felt his absence was going to  negatively affect the performance of Tottenham Hotspur down to the middle of this season before they can fill in the gap but am astonished in how Son and the whole Tottenham team in no time patched in without wasting time and delivering Tottenham the class of goals we knew Kane for while he was in Hotspur. Even the Tottenham fans will agree with me that with this current Tottenham team's performance there's nothing there to miss Harry Kane for. They play as a team, well coordinated on the field and have  won all their matches, also taking the same energy to the Europa league conquering every opponent in their way. It's unassuming to think that Fulham could survive with a draw not to talk of winning this Tottenham side, that's why it doesn't look surprising that they won Fulham in tonight's game.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you take sides on: October 23, 2023, 09:26:30 PM
We all know how people used to be protective when trying to explain how someone treated them badly, they always want to be the winner and if you are not smart you can fight the wrong war for them, later you will find out that they are the problem.

Gamblers are telling stories about how they got banned because they are winning too much, I will like to tell you not to believe everything people tell you, these stories typically have another side of the story, there is a high probability that these gamblers have broken some rules along the way.

For reputable casinos, banning players that have won a lot of money legally is bad for their business, the casinos knows that the word of the mouth spreads faster than anything, so I believe that a reputable casino do their strong research before they use their ban hammer.

Before you take sides with gamblers claiming they get banned for winning too much, remember that casinos are good at monitoring and preventing fraudulent behaviors, you break some rules you are out, and no cheater want to admit that they cheat.

Exactly and bigger casinos do not ban people for winning,I know people at Stake who have won huge amounts in a consistent way at some time but that have lost big some other time, the casino knew that and they would be stupid to ban these type of persons.

If you don't break any rule even if you win a million dollar for big, well established and reputable casinos there is not the slightest problem to pay you.So before having strong evidence I agree with you,I usually don't take side with the gamblers who can be disgruntled from a certain treatment that the casino in total fairness have done to him.
so if I understand what you mean supposing the individual comes with the same story about a small casino it should have been an allegation that is said to be true because it concerns a small casino. In this I'll say we're still going circles about the subject if we construct my viewpoint in this way. It is true we have some fraudulent, cheating and non policy abiding gamblers  and as humans we don't like to accept blames in a matter we're in the wrong , there's usually this defensive explanation mechanism in humans.

however if we assume all lodged  cases relating to ban due to too much winnings as a story not to be given attention but to discard it even before it landed then we will in that might as well discard genuinely lodged cases of that nature without knowing. That's is why it's rational to give give attention to them all but not to jump into conclusion immediately until an unbiased investigation is made and the truth discovered. You can call it a fair hearing.

Is it the game you started playing as a gambler that you still play till now? Is there any gambler in this place who was used to playing a particular game before but never was successful winning or did not win enough and then made up their mind that it was time for a change in the game you gamble on. Which game did you change from, and what did you change to? how long did you play the game that you are deciding to stop playing because of the bad outcomes?

Mine was from Crash games to dice, I lost a lot of money before I realized that I had to look for other games that I could also enjoy and at the same time had a chance of winning so I could maintain my bankroll and extend my session.

And that's a good decision on my part, sometimes losing a lot or having a long losing streak is not good, we know that there is such a thing as a house edge but not to the point that you will have a long stretch of losing.

Playing is good and fun but it will take out the fun if you feel that you are so unlucky that you cannot come out even with a single win and that's something I felt when I concentrate on playing Crash only.

Moving from one gambling game to another doesn't surety that you will make wins in the new game you have chosen to gamble, you just got to device a dissimilar way of playing the game while you commune for your luck to shine brightest. If we're changing to a new game for derivation of a different taste of fun it's understandable but if we are doing so because we are not getting streaks of win then we're doing that to a fault as the results will be same.

We can move from one casino or sportbetting site to another if we suspect a fishy and lack of integrity in the services provided it is necessary and reasonable to leave for a new one.

in this always goes the word "easier said than done"

because while the truth is we must just enjoy gambling but the thing is majority of the gamblers are seeking for money when they gamble and not the other way around.
to have fun? yeah it is but do you really handle this?
that you only play to have fun and enjoy?answer it for yourself first.
Its clearly understandable that gamblers are anything but frugal spenders. They once addicted will spend more than they can afford and its something that they cannot control. A frugal person on the other than will budget and spend as per need trying to save every penny at every instance so much so that they become obsessed with savings.

The better term is bankroll management and again another concept less understood by gamblers who regularly play EV- games and burn their sats on slot machines and dice rolls.
There's no such thing as frugal gambler except you're not a gambler that's when you'll buy to the letters coined together as frugal gambler. People that are frugal are people that are economical with money, stingy, discreet and penny-pinching do you believe people that live such definition of life can make use of gambling - no not sure about that. When you gamble you spend money whether you gamble for fun or for making money you will still have to lose money and a frugal person avoids anything or activity that will make him lose money especially for one that's not guaranteed of a win like gambling.
