You guys are either really paranoid ..
Or I'm overly naive ..

Seems to me they've got a good and working business model ..
They have no incentive to kill the goose ..

Triff ..
Do we really want our network - currently worth over $10,000,000,000 of people's money - to be protected only by the whim/integrity of one person/organisation?

They may not have an incentive to kill the goose, but they are human and they are fallible.

How well do we know them to trust them with this much money?

Think about it.
826  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-08] Singapore revenue authority recognizes and taxes Bitcoin on: January 08, 2014, 10:44:30 PM
Quote
In other case, if a company is buying and selling Bitcoin directly to customers, like exchanges do, the tax applies to the full amount received and also to the commission fees. Nevertheless, this rule is only mandatory for the businesses registered in Singapore.
Surely this rules out any Bitcoin exchange operating within Singapore?
827  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Report: Projects on: January 08, 2014, 07:53:31 PM
Ah, then that would be very unlikely.

Oh dear, projects  Sad
828  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Report: Projects on: January 08, 2014, 07:18:52 PM
Wow. Just read through the whole thread.

I have sold BTC to projects several times over the last few years and the transaction were always smooth, although recently I did notice he seemed to have more and more issues with trades.

I just want to mention a possibility that hasn't come up so far - some time ago there seemed to be a lot of offers to purchase trusted accounts. Could projects have decided to sell his account to someone?

Obviously, this would be foolish as it would link him to any future scams done under his account, but it's a possibility he didn't think of that.

What would be more foolish would be to scam a community where you know a lot of people have you bank details/address.

Admin could look for an IP address change around the time he started to scam.
829  Economy / Speculation / Re: The FBI will NOT be able to sell the coins on: January 08, 2014, 05:07:15 PM
In my opinion, as soon as the FBI decides to sell the coins they would become legitimised and therefore untainted.
830  Economy / Speculation / Re: The FBI will NOT be able to sell the coins on: January 08, 2014, 05:06:29 PM
is there any way to "track coins"?  I didn't think so.  I guess you could track addresses, can you get information on where btc addresses are located?  I thought BTC was supposed to be anonymous!!!
Bitcoin transactions are completely traceable and only anonymous until your real world identity is linked.
831  Economy / Lending / Re: LTC payment on difference agreement (3) on: January 07, 2014, 12:40:40 PM
Agreement between gusti and Scott J.

This agreement is for gusti to pay Scott J the difference over strike
price of $40 / LTC trading price for an amount of 100 LTC, at any
given time chosen by Scott J before July 7th, 2014.

Price is based on btc-e exchange USD/LTC rates, and can be executed
at any chosen time before expiry, for the price at the time of
request, to be verified by time stamped post in this same thread after
a maximum of 48hs of chosen price.

Payment will be made by gusti in equivalent BTC for the USD
amount, with price at  same time of chosen price based on BTC/USD from Bitstamp, to
be verified by time stamped post in this same thread.

Should Bitstamp or btc-e no longer be operating, prices will be taken from the exchanges with the highest BTC and LTC volumes in US dollars.

e.g. if price at chosen time is $50 / LTC, gusti will pay the amount of $1000 equivalent in BTC,  with BTC/USD price at the same time of chosen LTC price..

If strike price is not reached before this agreement expiration date,
no payment will be made from each party to the other.

In return, Scott J is paying now to gusti a one-time, non-refundable premium of 20 LTC to address :

Edited : correct amount is 100 ltc.
Thanks as always, gusti.

834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alt-Coin Transaction Volumes on: January 03, 2014, 12:54:24 AM
How much does transaction volume matter when determining the price of a coin?

Is there a website that compares the number and size of transactions across each alt-coin's blockchain?

This would be really useful in determining actual usage of coins.

At the moment it seems to be all about market capitalization which doesn't give a complete picture.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin massively undervalued? on: December 31, 2013, 09:59:48 PM
I would say yes..... it is undervalued...

generating LTC is not that easy... considering high ELECTRICITY it consumes...

When I started LTC the price was around $5+ per LTC.. which I think is a very good price for $0.25/kwh (high peak hours)

when ltc dropped to under $2 I stopped mining and my $5k rig is sitting doing nothing until fall/winter where electricity is cheaper $0.12/kwh

so yeah... since BITCOIN IS THE GOLD... there should be a SILVER... which is LITECOIN...

if BTC is worth $1000 then LTC should be worth $500

Smiley

actually it should be BTC 1000 USD and Litecoin 250 USD  (because there is 4 times more silver than gold Smiley )
You're out of your fucking mind.

For this to happen, there needs to be parity between the support and services associated with both coins. BTC is miles ahead of LTC in that regard.

First mover advantage is not easy to overcome.

First mover advantage is great, but I strongly feel that Litecoin has attached itself to Bitcoin's coattails and is going along for the ride.

It is so little extra effort for any enterprise to accept LTC as well as BTC.

With the large market capitalization of Litecoin, why wouldn't businesses want to open themselves to a $593,246,312 market?
