Once again, search proving itself a leading indicator. That last big bump up was last Thursday (think wire transfer lag time).

Falling rapidly, how low will it go ?

Would anyone even place an order now ?

Good luck with that lol.
825  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 09:58:36 AM
Okay, so I guess, dumping plan failed, let's put up a little wall for bluffing? Grin
Could be Nemesis, he did say he was buying again. Could be using the wall to keep it down in order to load up some more.

FYI when he says hes buying, hes selling.
826  Economy / Speculation / Re: Map (you are here) on: April 03, 2013, 09:56:40 AM
My backgrounds aren't refreshing  Embarrassed

Is there a setting somewhere?  I'm on Firefox.

They just do it whenever.

$150 should be as good as the Joker one.  I'm staying up for that.

Not on chrome =/

Cant figure out why.
827  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 08:51:14 AM
btw, what is the mtgox lag record? 8minutes?

GL trying to daytrade this asshole.
828  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 08:32:35 AM
I have to say, this is no longer fun. Now I'm living in real perpetual fear. Heck even litecoin is at $4, I used to have tens of thousands of those before I sold for what I thought was a good deal at an embarrassingly low number. Now I'm looking at my bitcoin paper wallets that I have at home and suddenly I feel like I'm holding a suitcase of treasury notes and I'm scared to death about it. Not to mention being paranoid of hitting my head, getting brain damage and forgetting my "brain wallet".

Seriously- if it could just stay level for a couple days I could feel better about all this. I got on the boat thinking we would all slowly sail to the crypto new world, but instead we're on the Millenium Falcon and Chewie's pumping the gas till the stars start streaking by.

LOL. I feel the same way. I've opted for paper wallets as they are easier to deal with in the case of something happening to me.
829  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 03, 2013, 07:42:25 AM
Sup with buying up to exact amounts ($130 first, then $140)? Someone is having a little fun tonight.

Thats where the walls are..
830  Economy / Speculation / Re: OK, THIS IS FUCKING INSANE on: April 03, 2013, 07:26:54 AM
+1 what hyphymikey said

If your plan is to flip bitcoins for a short-term USD profit you will get eaten

But if your plan is to hold bitcoins and use them to pay businesses, you will come out on top

Dude I'm close to paying off my mortgage!!! my only two concerns are:
* When do I take my profits. (at one point I must take some profits, I haven't ever since I started mining and buying I haven't sold a single BTC)!
* How to avoid getting taxed like crazy when I transfer fiat back to my account.

I still havent covered my basis. I keep telling myself that I will soon, but never do (for better or worse).

I've been struggling with the tax issue as well and from what I gather it seems far too risky to attempt anything if it hits your account. Only off exchange is worth it.
831  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is the Part Where We Take the Wall Streeters' Money on: April 03, 2013, 07:21:47 AM
I don't want to take someone else's money, I want to pay regular stuff with BTC. Wall Street adoption serves that purpose.

You will end up doing both and the guy whos money padded your pocket will likely be happy he did so, just so long as he gets in early enough.
832  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 03, 2013, 07:17:08 AM
Jeebus.....last winter one of my friends was asking me when I am gonna pay her a visit(she lives quite far away from where I am), at the time bitcoin price was $13.8, so I half-jokingly told her:"I will when the bitcoin price reaches $138." There was no way I could expect the price to rise so fast, now I have to keep my words.........  Embarrassed

Haha Ive said similar things. Just do it, I used to be a frugal (ok downright cheap sometimes) bastard, now I can no longer justify it.

833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union to begin accepting Bitcoin (WSJ) on: April 03, 2013, 06:28:06 AM
This makes obvious sense for WU but i thought they would be too stuck in their ways with admin inertia to jump on this wagon. It must be the old pioneering spirit of the railroad coming out.

The BIG win that WU could achieve here is to use bitcoin network as their backbone for transferring payments around and do away with their legacy infrastructure. Their WU affiliates in every office all over the world now only needs a bitcoin enabled PC running to send/receive payments.

WU would become the p2p fiat exchange for the masses with all their installed infrastructure ... and oh yeah, if you want to take buy/sell bitcoin from local WU office can do that too.

Exactly what I thought. But it's indeed hard to believe such a large corporation would have the guts to restructure itself this way. Many internal branches would have to be cut. There's lots of politics inside these large corporations. The people in charge would have to be very bold and ready to make lots of people very unhappy.

True. But if the CEO is smart and under alot of pressure from shareholders... its not uncommon for heads to roll.
834  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mtgox keeping the lid on? on: April 03, 2013, 06:06:05 AM

Bam.
836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union to begin accepting Bitcoin (WSJ) on: April 02, 2013, 07:34:13 PM
http://mashable.com/2013/04/02/western-union-bitcoin/

Mashable is now reporting about it also.
What exactly does it mean for a payment transfer service like WU to "accept" bitcoins?
Are they going to be just another exchanger, but a uber big one?

yep, that seems to be what is happening.
837  Economy / Speculation / Mtgox keeping the lid on? on: April 02, 2013, 06:10:27 PM
The spread difference between other exchanges is now exceeding 10% in some cases (cavirtex was 120 today when mtgox was 108) and similarly 3-4% lower than others consistently... when it used to be the other way around (mtgox was usually higher). It's clear that the reason for this is the lag time in verification processing that mtgox is having (I believe the queue is above 9000 people waiting now now). The question is, is this verification queue causing the price to remain artificially lower for a longer period of time? Because they have such a larger market share than the rest of the exchanges, could they realisitically create this artificially lower price rise on purpose to keep us from having another bubble/crash? Or will the other exchanges start leaving gox in the dust because of their lag?

Perhaps not a bad idea to drop this here: http://mashable.com/2013/04/02/western-union-bitcoin/

I could have sworn that was an April Fools joke?

nope. This is the real deal.
839  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fundamental analysis thread on: April 02, 2013, 05:50:46 PM
Ok, just got confirmation from multiple sources via email and twitter. They are looking to develop partnerships, so its a go. I'll update the thread again  Cheesy

Depending on the details this could be mind-bogglingly huge.

Yeah, I'm sure it comes from the fact that so many people were using them to access bitinstant. They want to take that business and expand it, im sure.
