Jeebus.....last winter one of my friends was asking me when I am gonna pay her a visit(she lives quite far away from where I am), at the time bitcoin price was $13.8, so I half-jokingly told her:"I will when the bitcoin price reaches $138." There was no way I could expect the price to rise so fast, now I have to keep my words.........  Embarrassed

Oh, I absolutely love these Bitcon love stories. Might this turn into one?

Well, I said it's a "friend", strictly a friend(I would not have lived so far away if... Wink). And actually she is already married, but yeah we are in very good relationship.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I would be surprised if we didn't reach 10,000 dollars per bitcoin before the end of the year.

I would be extremely surprised if we did reach that value. 10,000 dollars per bitcoin would mean 70 times the current adoption which would mean that fees for a SINGLE TRANSACTION would be outrageous, like $100 or even more. Yes, i pulled that number from my ass but it's as good a guess as any. We have 1M hard limit on block size, corresponding to about 7tps, or about 25,000 transactions per hour, and it isn't going to change this year. Bitcoin as it currently exists is not scalable to much higher usage than it already has.

you clearly don't understand the mechanics of Bitcoin

as I see it and many here, we could be looking at 10.000$ by the end of this month whether you bears like it or not

I'm not bearish. I expect, in the long term, bitcoin to roughly double in value each year, for the foreseeable future. In my book this is extremely bullish.

The current rally is June 2011 all over again. This time I'm going to profit from this insanity, though.

Scalability isn't going to be a problem, especially as Bitcoin is more rapidly developing as a store of value instead of a payment system. I have plenty of faith the developers will work this out, there are already good solutions being tested.

Also, you have to look at the total value of all bitcoins, not just to the price of a single coin. A market value of $100 billion isn't far fetched at all.

Oh Loaded, who art up in Mt. Gox, hallowed be thy name!  Thy dollars rain, thy will be done, on BTCUSD.  Give us this day our daily 10% 30%, and forgive the bears, as we have bought their bitcoins.  And lead us into quadruple digits

I have to say, this is no longer fun. Now I'm living in real perpetual fear. Heck even litecoin is at $4, I used to have tens of thousands of those before I sold for what I thought was a good deal at an embarrassingly low number. Now I'm looking at my bitcoin paper wallets that I have at home and suddenly I feel like I'm holding a suitcase of treasury notes and I'm scared to death about it. Not to mention being paranoid of hitting my head, getting brain damage and forgetting my "brain wallet".

Seriously- if it could just stay level for a couple days I could feel better about all this. I got on the boat thinking we would all slowly sail to the crypto new world, but instead we're on the Millenium Falcon and Chewie's pumping the gas till the stars start streaking by.

more or less retired.

The step from 10 to 100 will be the same size as the step 100 to 1000. There is nothing to be done about it.

LOL. I feel the same way. I've opted for paper wallets as they are easier to deal with in the case of something happening to me.

Bro, do you even blockchain?

I'm euphoric and scared shitless in equal measure.
