As to the other comment of multibit being the "default" client. I tried installing that and got a popup that it required java...well, that swiss cheese pile of excrement is not going on my box period. How is it that the "default" client requires a known insecure browser extension?

Those graphs are obsolete since they don't include all relevant exchanges and also don't group multiple currency pairs on a single exchange together. This is a more accurate view: http://data.bitcoinity.org/#caaaabegaaThanks, and...ouch, gox is hemorrhaging market share:  that or the market just became bigger, with that bigger volume being spread out over the different exchanges. If you live in the USA the banks are basically stopping all international wire transfers person to person due to reg changes in Oct.
You literally can't wire money overseas any more from some US banks.
can barely transfer between legitimate businesses I needed some parts from Belgium just a couple weeks ago, took them forever to figure out the new rules shit is seriously fucked up All the more reason why bitcoin will take off in the US. yes, my point exactly, legacy, parasitic payment schemes are uncompetitive with a P2P solution |

new OS on a new box here, been...oh I don't know...year and a half since I have to set bitcoin QT up from scratch
sweet baby zombie jesus, hours and hours, I got hours to go, still 15 weeks back and the weeks are obviously getting bigger all the time
obviously this has to be a tired topic so forgive me, what are the strategies that have been proposed to deal with this? Couple years ago it was inconvenient, now it is ridiculous, couple years from now it will be untenable.
