8241  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Suportahan natin mga Kababayan ang [UNICEF CRYPTOCURRENCY FUND] on: October 15, 2019, 12:17:17 PM
And it was reported as well that they are not going to convert it to FIAT, according to this article:

Quote
All contributions made in cryptocurrencies will be held in crypto, and even be distributed as the same cryptocurrency as well. This should bring a lot more positive attention to the supported currencies accordingly.

https://themerkle.com/unicef-will-not-convert-bitcoin-and-ethereum-donations-to-fiat-currency/

So maganda nga kung hindi ma convert? Ano sa tingin nyo? Malay natin biglang umangat ang presyo next year kaya tataas din ang mga contributions natin if ever.  Grin

8242  Other / Off-topic / "satoshi" - now officially added to Oxford English Dictionary on: October 15, 2019, 11:57:02 AM
Since a new wave of threads and discussions popping up recently regarding Satoshi, I'll just like everyone to know that satoshi has been added to the Oxford English Dictionary officially:

Quote
satoshi, n.: The smallest monetary unit in the Bitcoin digital payment system, equal to one hundred millionth of a bitcoin. Cf. Bitcoin n. at  bit n.4 additions

8243  Economy / Reputation / Re: List of banned participants in the Cryptotalk Campaign on: October 15, 2019, 10:10:27 AM
I think this could be the candidate for worst necro-posting of all time:

I was shocked when I saw this post and this post is actually made by the one and only creator of bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto. I do not know if you can read this sir but I would really like to thank you for creating bitcoin. Bitcoin has made a big change in my life financially. Without bitcoin I will still be financially miserable. With all my heart I express my gratitude, wherever you are now my utmost respect is with you. God bless.

Can someone archive it? I'm having problems trying to archived that infamous post.

He bumped Satoshi's thread, Bitcoin 0.2 released!. One of the oldest thread here in the community.

He shouldn't be just ban from Cryptotalk signature campaign, but permanent ban in this forum.
8244  Local / Pamilihan / Re: SAFU web wallet stealing users data (and funds) on: October 13, 2019, 12:06:59 PM
^ I don't have the technical knowledge on this kind of stuff. Siguro makakatulong si Baofeng dito.

As you quoted above, uninstalling or not installing at all is the best preventive measure. From what I understand, automatically injected na thru the wallet yung malware for every new page na nabubuksan. That suggest na yung wallet creator mismo ang may sala.

Let this be another reminder na hindi basta na-approve sa google ay safe ng i-download (the same applies to mobile apps).

Tama, since it is categorized as a malicious chrome extension, mag bebehave nya na hindi mapapansin pag na install mo na to sa desktop or laptop mo.
8245  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BAKKT The Pump To November on: October 13, 2019, 10:46:28 AM
^^ At least there's something to cheer about, LOL.

But it is still far cry from what everyone is expecting, like by this time hundreds if not thousands should be trading along that line right?

It didn't happened because crypto investors are unwilling up to this time. Although there are some trading volumes going on as per report, it doesn't mean that we will suddenly see a drastic change, everything here is volatile.

Or institutional and casual investors are not pulling their trigger after the much hype bakkt offerings up to this time? If yes what are there reasons? It is because they are afraid of manipulation?

We really don't know what's the reasoning behind, we are still speculating that institutional money has been flowing in the ecosystem for many years now prior to the Bakkt launch, so there could be manipulation behind as you have pointed out, but I think they are not that confident though with regards to the market conditions. It does look like bearish to me.

8249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: October 13, 2019, 03:05:45 AM
Floyd Mayweather accelerates plans for Manny Pacquiao rematch

Floyd Mayweather reportedly abandoned plans for an exhibition fight in China in order to negotiate a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/floyd-mayweather-accelerates-plans-manny-20560512

Yeah, I read this news too, and I'm not surprised though, he wanted to make a lot of money so instead of fighting for exhibitions for merely millions, why not fight Pacquiao when he can make like $200m-$300m? And he says he will beat Manny Pacquiao again so I guess it's the right decision for him.

As per the promoter in Japan.
Quote
“I’ll let him do his thing with Manny, the rematch is the biggest thing that can happen, so why bother with the exhibition bout first? If that happens we will stop everything and let him do his thing first. I hope it does happen, it could be a big possibility that fight is the grand opening for the Japan casinos. The only thing I will say is he’s expensive, so we have to work really hard to get him back over to Asia - the offer is not easy.”

Pacquiao returned to the ring back in July, when he decisioned unbeaten Keith Thurman for the WBA welterweight title. He is not expected to fight again until the first quarter of next year.

8250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Community With No Libra, Bakkt, ETFs and Institutions on: October 13, 2019, 02:37:07 AM
Now, Libra, that thing can fuck off!

That's not fair. If you're expecting governments to be open minded enough to tolerate Bitcoin, then why don't you do the same and allow other entities to create their own money? People blame governments for not tolerating anything other than their own currency, but a lot people here do the same. In a free market money should be able to compete.

Governments force you to use their hot air fiat currencies, and alternatives such as Bitcoin and Libra counter that. It provides a welcome bit of choice in the type of money you can use. Facebook doesn't force you to use Libra. Bitcoin doesn't force you to use Bitcoin. It's you who makes the decision to use one or the other, or both.

We are open minded but we should inform the community about what decentralization truly means. We should do this before the goverments and other big companies create alternative centralized coins. Facebook may not be forcing us to use Libra but they have a huge power to make advertisements of their coin. This doesn't seem fair to me. On the contrary, we should act as a whole and spread the decentralized coins.

I guess he is talking about Libra going into the space and testing it for themselves it's not about who has the power behind or what. We all know that entities can wield their power here because it's a free and open market to say the least. I truly wanted bitcoin to be decentralised but with so many actors coming into picture, it will be tested many times and I don't know if we are going to remain on top for many years because there's so much pressure now from governments around the world.

8251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: October 13, 2019, 02:09:08 AM
Well thats the hard part when youre an injury prone player while youre aging. I really want Iggy to prove himself again in another team. I want him to get back in shape. Too bad, he got badly injured and teams in the NBA easily forgot he was the Finals MVP in 2014-2015 NBA finals.

I don't think that is the case. Nobody is forgetting anything. It's just that teams have to make a decision not just on past achievement but also on the current conditions of players and even age.

For me, there is no need need for him to prove anything. He's done great and accomplished more than half of the current and retired NBA players.

Right, he is already on the twilight on his career he had a good time with Iverson during their days in Philly and his golden years where at GSW when he won a MVP. I guess that's what all NBA players goes, at  least he was able to maintain his game and developed to be a good role and defensive player, and with that said, nothing to proved. He might be a good mentor though for the younger generations and future NBA stars like him.
8252  Other / Beginners & Help / {Warning}: Attackers Create Elaborate Crypto Trading Scheme to Install Malware on: October 13, 2019, 01:36:14 AM
Since crypto is still hot topic, Hackers are not resting on their laurels and continue to used it as their attack vector. A recently discovered trading apps are running on the web right and pretending to be a legit software but researchers says in a phishing site and it could be connected to a more bigger cyber criminal groups.

To summarised:

Quote
[1] This scheme starts with a professionally designed web site where the attackers promote the JMT Trader program.
[2] Then they also have a official twitter account to spread the this so called new trading apps
[3] If you attempt to download the software, you will be brought to a GitHub repository where you can find Windows and Mac executables for the JMT Trader application. This page also contains the source code for the trading programs for those who want to compile it under Linux. This source code does not appear to be malicious.
[4] Using the JMT Trade program, a user can create various exchange profiles and use it legitimately to trade cryptocurrency. That's because this application and the above GitHub page are just clones of the legitimate QT Bitcoin Trader program that have been adopted for this malware operation.
[5] When the JMT Trader is installed, though, the installer will also extract a secondary program called CrashReporter.exe and save it to the %AppData%\JMTTrader folder.

And then you are done!!!

8254  Economy / Marketplace / Re: $1 Billion Dollar’s Worth of Cryptocurrency Stolen in 2018 on: October 12, 2019, 10:11:43 AM
it seems like this year the number will not be repeated, the security system continues to progress and we hope it can prevent the stolen of large amount
many people still worry if they become victims

I don't think so, cyber criminals tends to be very sophisticated and I doubt that exchanges security can keep up with them. You also have to remember that there is also a "inside job", that alone can't be stop by any exchanges even if their employees goes to a rigorous background check. The employees will also be tempted because of the huge money involved here that's why they might think to connive with someone outside and that means another statistics to the growing hacks year-to-year.
8255  Economy / Economics / Re: The re-accumulation period is in on: October 12, 2019, 09:36:16 AM
It actually goes the other way of the other way, that is, in the original direction toward prices rising (long-term) due to forthcoming halving. I don't think that miners play a significant role in Bitcoin price formation. However, if they do (in some mysterious ways), the halving of the miners reward could in fact be considered as a positive circumstance for Bitcoin since it is assumed that miners can somehow influence the price. Obviously, if their reward goes down, they will be highly incentivized to push the prices up

Whether it is actually so is subject to discussion
No they don't play a major role in price formation of BTC instead they are the ones most affected by the price movement in BTC because only if the price of BTC goes up makes a chance of miners rewards rising up

Personally, I'm inclined to think along the same lines

But the opponents of this view can be quite vocal and pushy in claiming the opposite view. I can't even recall all their arguments right now (as it was pretty complicated and illogical stuff anyway related to mining costs) but I very well remember how some of them had gone as far as to assert that Bitcoin could never ever drop below 5k. Small wonder, it first dropped below 5k and then 4k shortly thereafter (in November and December 2018, to be exact)

But the drop was due to the hash war that time between BCH (Roger Ver and cohorts) and BSV (Craig Wright). The reason behind as others have said, is that some miners switch their gears to either of the two coins, thus affecting the price negatively.

But yeah there are some proponents who push for the correlation between hashing power and bitcoin price , thus the argument that miners can influence the price so to speak.
8256  Economy / Speculation / Re: What you expect about next move of bitcoin? on: October 12, 2019, 08:13:13 AM
ouch . its sad to hear that many are expecting for bitcoin to decline while i and many more others are expecting and hopping for a more decent recovery  . this month i predict that the next move of bitcoin will now be in positive direction because september was already over  . they say september is the worst month due to beliefs and i believe on that so now my hopes are really that high that bitcoin can now make a comeback at least 9k to 10k is enough for me

No need to be sad though, it's just normal to see people predicting the price of bitcoin on the opposite side, maybe they have some motive behind on their TA is really pointing on that direction. But as the price goes, no one has the crystal ball to see the price movement. Eventually, we will cross that 5 digit mark again, it's that there are a lot of going from behind, maybe manipulation but I'm sure when we are going to get there one way or another.
8257  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Discussion on Philippine crypto wallets/apps on: October 12, 2019, 07:44:15 AM

.. snip ..

Good luck sa mga sasali at advance Happy Halloween!  Grin

8258  Other / Off-topic / Re: New Exchanges on: October 12, 2019, 05:58:56 AM
It's pretty obvious that you really need to take a look at exchanges today, specially those who claims to be have no fees, no KYC because I doubt those claims. Exchanges nowadays are being mark by every government so I doubt we will see a full centralised exchanges that don't require KYC at all. Maybe it's a marketing strategy in the very beginning, but as soon as they gain reputation, everything will change so better read their ToS as well.
8259  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BOUNTY SCAM!!! on: October 11, 2019, 09:53:07 PM
majority of bounty are scam they take months of your hard work and give you a worthless token, sometimes you work 3moths just to get 9m token worth $2. They are using you to enrich their selves it's called 21st century slavery.
Avoid any token pool less than $1m .they are worthless at the end.
Be careful of newbie bounty manager.
Avoid Ico bounty, too risky.
I have millions of worthless token in my wallet I worked hard for it, don't waste your time be careful..  I love you Son

Again, this dilemma has been with us since 2018 and I don't know why people still prefer to join bounties. I know that 2017 is a boom, but ever since we enter this bear market, it's a rude awaking for everyone specially for those hunters who think that they can still make a lot of money and didn't understand the business flow of the ecosystem. And then you will hear them bitch around the community, and yes, its sad but true. And besides more than 90% are just scams, so just stay away and look for other ways to earn BTC only.
8260  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Pilipinas - Post count evolution on: October 11, 2019, 08:39:41 PM

I guess not, kasi all of it I assume is just for the sake of the quantity of post required sa bawat signatures sa kani-kanilang profile. If ever na kahit walang malaking campaign na lumalabas na pwedeng mag post sa local board this post evolution update will be the other way around.

I am just hoping na one day kahit not for the sake of the earnings sa campaign or merit man ay magkaroon ng active participation ng mga local members natin.

The quality probably remained the same o slightly bumaba.
