8261  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 22, 2014, 08:25:52 AM
a dividend of about 0.17-0.18 is my estimate over the next three months, assuming we only sell 1/2 of all the chips produced, and we meet expectation for self mining and franchise mining.

You know that 0.17-0.18 over 3 months (12weeks) gives us ~3.5 BTC share price ... let's see

That would be impressive but were only accounting the dividends from the chips not including the future R@D for Gen 4
Which hopefully will be faster since they are specializing on chip production now
8262  Economy / Economics / Re: Jim Rickards' New Book "The Death of Money", Review on: May 22, 2014, 08:21:37 AM
I have heard about this book the death of money and appreciate the time you took to write a review about it
Saved me some reading myself which I can put towards other books
(Kind of want a book thread)
An interesting Book I read recently is The Prize by Daniel Yergin which goes into oil politics and economics so would recommend that to others looking for a good read

Thanks, I have never heard of that one. Just checked it out on Amazon.

I would recommend it highly although I messed up a bit their and meant the Quest which is the update on the Prize
I mixed the two up since I was watching the youtube video series on The Prize and read the Book on the Quest
Part 5 of an 8 part series

8264  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cost of Money Transfer to Russia, China, Uganda etc on: May 21, 2014, 09:11:24 AM
I would say the next cheapest method to send money to non-western countries would be an e-mail money transfer
Depending on the country as it would depend on what banks you use and what country you want to send too.
http://www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/0411/7-low-cost-ways-to-transfer-money.aspx
https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/middle-east/Iran/online-banking-in-iran-or-safe-bank-that-manages-iranian-currency?page=1
http://www.niacouncil.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=10897
But to my knowledge countries like Iran which are pretty much disbarred from the global banking economy due to international sanctions are not allowed to use SWIFT so sending any money to them is incredibly difficult.
In reality Bitcoin is pretty much the only real way to send it practically at a decent speed or we end up with Western Union and the 10% quote that you are mentioning in your OP when comparing speed of delivery.

Everyone uses bitcoin to buy drugs!
When shopping, just ensure that the Bitcoins go through a faucet and in 5 easy minutes the weed will be mailed directly to your door without the feds being any the wiser.
8266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recovery Of Bitcoin From Dead Computer on: May 21, 2014, 08:58:37 AM
It shows how important it is to have backups
I would say that if you can access the harddrive try using linux on it
Think this will work although I can't be absolutely certain best of luck solving this

8267  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin=Money(?) on: May 21, 2014, 08:52:58 AM
Technically, as long as people accept it in exchange for something, it's money. If people accepted rocks in exchange for goods, I would consider rocks money then

Rocks have been used as a form of currency back in history so that statement is true, the value of money is only that people are willing to exchange it as a means of trading aka it is a store of value. Differing from barter in that instead of trading goods and services apples and pears or trading physical commodities you are trading something that only has a representative value aka my dollar is the same as yours also known as fungibility which Bitcoin has so yes it is money and a form of exchange.
8268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox protest address location? on: May 21, 2014, 08:49:02 AM
Hi everyone, does anyone know where the address for MtGox's non-virtual office is in Tokyo?

The place that the protesters stood outside of just before they went dark?

Cheers if anyone can help

Also, would somebody be so kind as to refresh my memory as to the names of said protesters. I have a hunch.

Replying to this post their names are Bitcoin trader Kolin Burges, right, of London and American Aaron (only his first name was given) hold protest signs as they conduct a sit-in in front of the office tower housing Mt. Gox in Tokyo Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014.
From associated Press added my source hope it helps you out.

8269  Economy / Gambling / Re: Suicide Notes - Gambling literally destroyed my life on: May 21, 2014, 08:17:58 AM
0.95 Bitcoin that is awful be careful and glad to hear your back from the brink.
Know I keep a small amount in just dice in the investors section for those types of events mentioning it since it might be a safer storage method not quite sure how Iran is for that although cold storage is best a little bit of interest is still a lot for some (although do not put it all in one basket).
But it does suck to lose a large amount of coins hope you will get it back someday and props to lightlord for helping someone know props aren't needed but it seems to be rare these days.
The services thread may help you earn a few coins so hopefully you can earn it back transcribing is just writing down what you hear and putting it in a text file. Signature campaigns at a modest slow pace would probably help subsidize your living in the long run if rent is 85 dollars where a little bit of additional income could make a significant difference.

Best of luck to you and good luck

Thank you all for gettting back to me now Ill have to stop talking about, got me an advisor and he said not good that I mentioned it.  So Ill have to ask the Mod to delete this for me and ill join community and make some sensless chat.

Well I hope that things go well for you regardless and it does make sense not to ask random people for financial advice in retrospect
I hope that you are able to do well and save your fortune till you retire Mate.
8271  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which anime do you like to watch? on: May 21, 2014, 07:50:52 AM
I watch or try to watch everything in the season but it gets pretty hard so the three episodes rule can come in useful
Although sometimes if I have time I tend to watch more than that to get a feel for it
Example Tiger and Bunny was a really good series but three episodes in was pretty boring took 6 to 7 episodes to really start picking up
8272  Other / Off-topic / Weird News Stories on: May 21, 2014, 07:45:01 AM
Seems like it could become quite the interesting thread
Post the story of the day or something you have heard of that just seemed strange or bizarre

I'll start with a Picnic Table an ATM machine and a man getting it on ^_^

A 49-year-old man was arrested in Tennessee after attempting an unorthodox transaction with a cash machine.

According to WKRN, Lonnie Hutton walked into a local bar in Murfreesboro, removed his trousers, and then proceeded to have sex with the bar’s ATM.

8273  Other / Off-topic / Re: Date Ideas on: May 21, 2014, 07:42:04 AM
Hi again, i need advise in how do i ask her to go out on a date? Should i just tell her or should i do something else? Tnx!

There are multiple ways to approach this I would say arrange it when you meet up with friends if not then the classic method is face to face have a good conversation going and then just slip it in at the right time, if not a text.
But I will go with ranlo and just take a good chance and try to find the right time.
8274  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT, Bitcoin is on the verge of collapse !!! on: May 21, 2014, 07:37:41 AM
If anything Bitcoin just had a bit of a rally so if the system is really on the verge of Collapse
Then all that positive news that we are seeing is not a sign of its demise
But a sign of its next rise.
8275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First African Bitcoin ATM to be installed end of May 2014 on: May 20, 2014, 08:23:46 AM
Thanks, I will check with regards to the marketing with them. I have not received anything yet.

I assume you bought an ATM/AVM from them as well?

What is the preferred term - ATM or AVM? I use ATM at the moment as it is something people are familiar with, although I prefer the term AVM for obvious reasons.

Above all I love what this is doing for decentralisation for bitcoin - the exchanges have been a big problem, a major hurdle due to distrust and also due to crackdown from governments.

What commission are you charging, if you have an AVM?

They have good customer support, setting up the backend with digital ocean was a bit tricky but they were helpful with the process.
The new ATM's have different screens apparently so curious what yours will look like.
AVM is a preferred term because of the rationale people take with the former term.
I left my unit with a group of fellow Bitcoiners as we are still locating the unit basically its hanging out in the Bitcoin store while we tinker with it but we were having a bit of a problem with getting its own place for the last month or two, was to busy to go location hunting that said now its not much longer have some contracts ready and cafes to look at or at the university but congrats to you for having the first African one.
Making the presentation package is probably the most tricky thing and locating the thing so having a good package really helps.
Not sure if you need one since you said you located it but found this today might be worth a read if your pitching to merchants. Got a few groups in this city some working on their own ATM machines and working out the tweaks some working on new payment processors and some working on developing new ecosystem tech for Bitcoin good to see people with the passion to develop it.
As we like to say were all millionaires already for starting this soon in this economy.
http://issuu.com/ybitcoin/docs/ybitcoinespring2014?e=10006647/7220153
Anyways your ATM is not on the Maplist yet but I believe you will be added sooner than later when it gets shipped out
https://lamassu.is/maps/
As for our ATM it is set at 9% fees to cover the cost of location the default when the ATM shipped was 3% the rate however depends on what exchange you choose to link it too.
Neal or Conner will send you an e-mail when your close to shipping should be about 2 months based on the site
You will also get a press package part of the documents you receive should be in the merged google doc folder
With the dimensions specs setting up the cloud server to backend connect etc.

PS: If you want a link to the google doc just PM me although Neal or Conner will send you the same link when your unit is sent out
Should be the Press Release Help & Images folder but contact kari if your an eager beaver and want to get a head start on it ^_^
8276  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: KryptoKit removed from Chrome on: May 20, 2014, 08:08:20 AM
Looks like Goggle has removed KK from every Chrome browser, together with the access to the bitcoins stored there.
Still not clear why, Vitalik says he received from Google a response that it was removed for unspecified TOS violations. If true, it's outrageous that Google did it without any kind of warning, potentially destroying tons of bitcoins.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2608xq/chrome_just_removed_kryptokit/

That would be awful for the end users who may have lost thousands of dollars because of that mistake
If I recall correctly this is the second time something like this happened because of an Android issue that hid bitcoin wallets a while back
That said its good that they have a series of steps to backup or retrieve your wallet and serves as a reminder to be careful with online wallets and storage.
8277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why DOGECoin will go up 3000% again on: May 20, 2014, 08:00:04 AM

I would say that a coin needs to attract users from all markets even though a technology convention seems like the most rational choice a bigger buzz can be made from aiming to a mass audience of individuals and getting the word and information across using as many mediums as possible.

I just think that the cost is pretty high considering the group we're catering to. If Bitcoin and cryptos were more mainstream than they are, it'd be different. As it is, though, you have to cater to those who are interested.

I concede you have a good point focusing might be a better idea but that said any advertising is better than no advertising, I guess the best way to get attention is still meme's for Doge though as it is not supposed to be a rationals currency
Much Wow Many Dog shows after all  or I guess advertising to children who like dogs as it would make them happy
8278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Billionaire Richard Branson Invests in Bitcoin Payment Processor BitPay on: May 20, 2014, 05:43:58 AM
It's nice to know that Virgin Galactic is taking bitcoin and investing in payment processor
I recall they also funded for a trip to the moon and accepted bitcoin
Hopefully we will see Bitcoin adoption and positive press coverage continuing
8279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First African Bitcoin ATM to be installed end of May 2014 on: May 20, 2014, 05:39:06 AM
Did you receive the press package from Lamassu should help get you started feel free to also contact them through e-mail
You should get a link to that in the next few days and an e-mail on how they can help you prepare for it
Congrats on your ATM purchase
8280  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If you could create a new society from the ground up, what would you do? on: May 20, 2014, 04:49:44 AM
I would probably play a few different simulation games like Civilization and try to optimize society based on the best parts of each civilization in history.
Might even separate areas to experiment with different ideas example China and Hong Kong two systems but one country but pushed further to one specializing in avionics and space development the other country agriculture and deep seafaring technologies.
Try different legal procedures and different laws within countries such as difference between Civil and Common Law or Even Sharia  and develop a system based on all three but using the best of it.
And have fun with society set minimum working age in different countries one 10 one 12 one 14 one 16 one 18
Same with consent and marriage
Then try different types of education systems classic example focus on math in asian countries focus on general arts and creative thinking in Western countries
Play with subsidization in some countries and remove it in others and see how people adapt and where they become the most creative since the brain is more malleable when young does it make sense to be innovative at a younger age and have people learn at older ages or is it better for education to be taught as it is and for the big wigs and corporate structure to be old and unchanging slow to innovate.
Goes into environmental structure so developing the right structure is worth a reanalysis to find and discover the best optimization settings.
Then Try developing a tech paradise in one city and an ecological efficient sustainable city in another.
Rebuild the internet make a mesh-net that uses computing power to try and develop plasma based engines and do formulas that would take significant man time but can be replaced with processing, aka organize big datasets into something useful like is being done with medical research
Replace oil energy with geothermal energy in the long run with solar becoming more efficient and using less energy in the production process
First by sticking rods around Volcanos then finding better processes to acquire the earths internal core temperature
Then using magnetic fields try to utilize that energy into a low density field to store energy since our current systems are limited by live current basically we can't store energy in signifcant amounts to solve that we need to concentrate energy for long durations of time. (Hard light) etc.
Develop new storage systems using DNA sequences to maximize the writing of data
Overall resulting in a bit of a mad scientist as I try to develop cryogenics in my quest for immortality and then creating an interactive virtual world that allows time to pass by faster in it than outside it example 1000 hours in VR is 1 day in reality allowing for more time to develop the outside society within a single human lifetime.

Oh some of this exists already but making scale and improving it is the goal Smiley
