8281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] - How to use different order types. on: August 07, 2020, 10:36:51 AM
This is a well written article about order types. I for one prefer to use the limit order, stop loss and OCO, the reason not using market order is because it is risky. It may not be so risky for strong coins like bitcoin because i have used it one or twice before and the price the bitcoin converted to tether was good. But I noticed it is not good for altcoin, especially if it has low market cap.

Market order vs limit order
Be it high or low market cap, limit order is the best option because you will be the one to set the price yourself and you can adjust it to a price your order will be completed in time.

There was a day I used market order to trade digibyte, the current price was at $0.0023 at the time but the order was placed at $0.19, this also happened to me when I purchase curio, and both were great losses for me. So, I am not using market order again. Using the limit order is the better for someone not to lose much funds while trading coins.

The stop lose if used appropriately, it has no issue, it really helps and so is OCO as well.

Please refer to this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5264627.0
In summary, he was scammed twice. First was when he sent bitcoins to a ponzi scheme and second was when he paid a bitcoin recovery scam service in an attempt to get back his bitcoins from the ponzi.

The story may sound ridiculous but it happens to many beginners. Some newbies still fall for different types of scams like fake giveaways and bitcoin doublers. Another example is the recent hack on twitter, the scammers used the accounts of famous people to fool followers. If not for Coinbase, 1,000 more users would have fallen victim. They stopped the $280,000 worth of btc transactions from being deposited into the scammer's account.

Quote
Coinbase says it prevented just over 1,000 customers from sending around $280,000 worth of bitcoin during last Wednesday’s attack. Roughly 14 Coinbase users sent around $3,000 worth of bitcoin to the scam’s bitcoin address before the company moved to blacklist it, the company said.

If you or someone else you know fell victim to these scams, please be informed that the btc sent to scammers are most likely unrecoverable. If you ever encounter a site that says they'll get it back for you at a fee, do not fall for it because they are also scams. Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed and the only possible way I know to recover the funds is if the scammer themselves are careless in sending btc to centralized exchanges or services without obfuscating the transaction.

This has been a scam, truly another type of scam I have to include to the list. If a person for being novice is scammed and scammed again through these recovery services, it will not make any sense and it is considered double losses.

8283  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Choluteca Bridge - A metaphor for what can happen to us, our carrer and future on: August 07, 2020, 07:05:15 AM
Choluteca Bridge was created to be able to withstand storms and huricanes which are common in North and South America, Huricane Mitch is atype which is very deadly, to the extent it affected many areas in the country (Hunduras) in which the bridge (Choluteca Bridge) was located, this rendered many people hopeless and over 7000 people were reportedly killed, it was a great hazard to the country at the time. The disaster started with hurican, then four days of rain falling which was said it is equivalent to six months rainfall in region, the hurricane during the period led to flooding which led to the disaster.

The most unbelievable thing that surprised me was the  Choluteca River that later diverted from flowing under the bridge, after the all hazard abated, the river was no more flowing under the bridge but beside the bridge which even makes the bridge not to serve its purpose again.

This tells us:
1. How a tree can not make up a forest
2. How we should think about our lives from the beginning to the end in a way not only us we enjoy life but also our generations to come
3. We should make people around us also strong, not demanding or ridiculing them, these people can be of greater help tomorrow to make you useful
4. How centralization of power should not be fully implemented, there should also be decentralized aspect.

Supposing, all houses, bridges, and all other buildings were as strong as the Choluteca Bridge, many lives if not all, will be saved.
The bridge which thought would was useful was no longer that useful because the river is not flowing under it again.

Guy curio go fly no doubt. The supply is very low, 2million. And the team is very active, they deal on exotic cars. In its early days, just few months , is like it got around 0.10, I can see from my search in mar 24/25/2020 it low was 0.11 and you can see the progress so far. Is not up to a year, I think is good project from Asia region.
You talk say the coin don get 10x, I no know self, I see ham the first time I know ham for $0.22.  Na the time I don see prospect for the coin, the coin later increase and get over 4x. Na good coin. But na altcoin wey dey pump fast and dump fast, but profit dey there if we get how its price dey fluctuate.
8285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jon Prosser’s YouTube Channel Hacked on: August 06, 2020, 11:56:02 AM
Are they? They did not bypass 2FA
I quoted this from the OP link source:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-scammers-rebrand-jon-prossers-youtube-channel-as-nasa
Quote
However, Prosser’s case is worrying as he reported the hackers used a SIM swap attack to gain access to his channel using its two-factor authentication (2FA).
But the way this happened is what we have to figure out. Because some information about someone can be gotten from sim swapping indirectly through different means, this would have possibly led to the attack as reported by cointelegraph.
8286  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it the virus or the treatment that affects mental health? on: August 06, 2020, 11:41:52 AM
Probably, acidic conditions in the body, brought on by improper nutrition combined with pollution, is what is producing failing mental health. Then the failing mental health brings on the viruses.
What could the body acidity do to body, even in our body, carbomonoxide combine with water to produce hydrogen bicarbonate but in a quantity not toxic to the body, but during excess carbomonoxide production, this can cause excessive acidity called acidemia. The acidity you talked about is somehow unclear, can you make it clear? Please.

He is well up in the Gluteus Max of the Pharmers, so you need to be careful when considering his opinions. It is a shame that they never discuss the underlying health problems that caused the recovery difficulty, or the pharmaceuticals that were administered to replace the natural healing processes. Mental stress is one of the problems that the government is increasing by escalating the supposed difficulties of this virus.
I wouldn't say you are wrong because there are truth in what you are conveying to us which is strong immunity. We believe in the old era, that virus, bacteria, protozoans and fungi that causes diseases also were fast mutating because they are microorganisms, but out immunity was able to transform to  stronger ones to combat these diseases.

Now, with poor environments with toxic chemicals govermants supposed to reduced, the way of living which is poor that medical practitioners supposed to advice people about, the type of good intake which are high calories in nature, moving away from fruits like carrots, cucumbers, citruses and many more. All these has made our imunity much lower or unable to transaform to a stronger ones that are likely to combat new mutated deadly microorganisms.

We should not just drive away from traditional healthy living, now fully only believing in modern medicine, this is reducing our immumity to a less strong ones in a way mutated mircoorganisms can easily invade human body, this may not be well realized now, but the future will speak of this.
8287  Other / Off-topic / Re: password generator site on: August 06, 2020, 09:21:48 AM
Don't use a password generator website. Thousands of Bitcoins have been stolen this way. Even if you use if offline, it is HIGHLY LIKELY to give you intentionally or unintentionally predictable output.
If the random password generator is offline, there is nothing bad to use it, but I consider it stressful than to randomly input different characters on my keyboard, but that does not mean it is not safe, nothing connected it online, but use the recommended ones. If connected online, then it is not advisable because we do not know what is running underground to steal the password online in the process of creating it.
8288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jon Prosser’s YouTube Channel Hacked on: August 06, 2020, 08:23:33 AM
The attacker used sim swap attack to gain access to Jon Prosser’s 2FA, the 2FA is used to access his YouTube Channel and renamed it as NASA which is used to scam people.

We need to be careful of free giveaway, they are not free but scam and fake as fake can be.
8289  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stop-lose any recommend? on: August 06, 2020, 07:48:15 AM
Maybe you think 95% of your losses is because you are using stop loss but No. It is because you are still learning how to trade. Stop loss is a very good feature in trading, although you will lose very little instead of losing more. That is the essence of using stop loss.
If you think day trading is not favoring you, do not blame stop loss, but choose swing trading, you will not have to consider the little losses but still hold for a little while, possibly the coin will rise back, but this also depends.

Also learn daily about trading to increase your gain. With what you said, it is like you are not patient also, you need to be patient while trade.
8290  Other / Off-topic / Re: password generator site on: August 06, 2020, 05:32:29 AM
To create a password yourself, it will be good to create it randomly using your phone or computer, I do this by typing randomly capital and small letters and other characters on my keyboard. For example:

Aghdh#+&:$?!%-%;%+472#!'AG&eu2766vgdgxttdbd2765;"&$-$;+%6&@3$((+++?$;":$;#-$"&&$&$;A
Do not use this, just an example

That characters above is generated randomly by me just typing on different characters on my keyborad, which i believe no one can brute force it, it is safe because I generated it offline. Strong passwords can not be saved off hand, having the backup on paper in a safe place is better.

You can try another recommended way below, it will be better to use offline random password generator as online online one are not safe at all. Check the topic below, it can guide you to how to create a very strong password, the longer the password the lesson likely for it to be brute forced.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132378.0
loading image
For every website that we are using especially those required a password, mostly are our email, crypto exchanges, forum accounts, social media accounts, etc. are requiring to make our password strong and secure. Did you follow them? or did you create a password that is too short? Common passwords? Well, that is bad practice. By using a strong password, it will help our accounts more secure against hacker over the internet.

We need to know first some example passwords that aren't advisable or very common one.

A. All of these passwords are very common and you should not use it!

B. Never use passwords that include your personal information such as:
  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Your address
Reason because why you should not ever include some of your personal information on your password because it will be an advantage on the hacker if he/she know some of your personal info, he/she can easily guess your password by using them.

C. Never use common Substitutions:
Examples:
  • D0gH0us3
  • W33kdays
  • IL0v3D0gs
Using of these kinds of password is really obvious, like D0gs , you just replaced the o with a 0. It can easy to brute force attack, just by replacing some common characters with some numbers or letters.

Creating your strong passwords
Since we already know what kinds of password that shouldn't be used, we can now proceed now on creating a strong and secure password.
  • Make sure your password is long,
    mix of  capital/small A-Z alphabets,
    0-9 numbers,
    special characters such as &^$#
Like S5#A$B1dpqzM^UMk , but this is very hard to memorize.
How to memorize these kinds of password? :

  • The sentence method:
This idea of this method is you will create a password from a random sentence or any sentence created by you.
    Example:
You will take every first 2 characters on each word from the sentence "I Was Born At 2:35pm In The Country Of Germany"
    Result:  IWaBoAt2:InThCoOfGe

  • Using Passphrase
Passphrase is consist of multiple words, the randomness of every word for creating a passphrase makes it strong.
    Example:
"Dog in the dark" -  Word make sense and it is grammatically ordered.
"hulk touch adjourn omega" - Don't make sense phrase, not in grammatically order.
You can use this password by capitalized every second character of every word, adding a special character between the words.
    Like hUlk&tOuch$aDjourn@oMega -
You can use the Sentence Method here, for example, taking every first two characters of every word, capitalized every 2nd character of the word and adding random special characters.
    "hUlk tOuch aDjourn oMega".
    Result :  hU#tO!aD*oM$

  • Using random password generator,
Also, wouldn't feel comfortable using an online tool like Avast to generate passwords. Much more comfortable using an offline tool to generate passwords like a password manager eg. https://keepass.info/ With KeyPass, you can generate strong passwords in 2 simple steps.

    Step 1: Select dropdown box
Step 2: Select the strength required of your password
Note: You can also customize what characters are allowed / disallowed in your passwords when they are generated which is handy.

Lastly, using password managers also solves the problem you mentioned of passwords being "hard to memorize".

REMOVED the Avast Random Password Generator, since I found that the offline and open-sourced one is much safer.

  • Password Manager
Using a password manager will help us to ogranize our different password on different website. I will suggest to use https://keepass.info/, this is open-source project and free.

Steps on how to use KeePass password manager:
1st, Download and install the KeePass, you can use the portable version or the installer.
2nd, Once the installation is done, you will be asked for the master password and the location path for the KeePass KDBX File (.kdbx) where you can use that as your backup.
    3rd, Fill up the fields.

You can just easily copy/paste your password in different entry you made, by just double-clicking it on password field. Password will paste on your clipboard and will automatically delete after 12 seconds.
*Make sure you save your database of KeePass safe and remember your master password on the database*
Thanks whotookmycrypto and OmegaStarScream for this.

    Android Version:
    KeePassDroid
I just found an android version for password manager/password generator which is also open-source and you can use it offline.
The good thing here you can import your database file from your KeePass in windows. They are almost the same.

Read/write support for .kdb and KeePass 1.x.
Read/write support for .kdbx and KeePass 2.x.

TIPS
  • Do not share your passwords to anyone.
Be careful who you trust, never share your password.
  • Use a different password for every account you have.
Just like on different crypto exchanges, don't use only one password for every exchange you have.
  • Always create long passwords.
The most recommends password contains a minimum of 8 characters  or 12 characters
  • Never upload your passwords to the cloud.
Avoid storing your passwords online, like storing it on some file hosting services.
  • Always use two-factor authentication(2FA) or multi-factor authentication (MFA).
This will help your account more secure, since before you can log-in on a particular website.
  • Be careful on Phishing websites.
Even how strong your password is, once you fall in phishing website, it's useless.

8292  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investing In Crypto Genuine Better Than Trading Forex on: August 05, 2020, 08:49:50 PM
It is better to focus on one than to be diversed on what are risky, to even learn crypto trading is not easy at all, because of this, it is good to just focus on one. Some people will leave crypto for forex but lose. I prefer to only know about crypto trading, I have been learning for months and I know there are more opportunities in crypto trading than forex trading.

A good example is the swing trading which is not realistic in forex unlike crypto, another example is to trade profitable cryptocurrencies like bitcoin or ethereum, getting the time of investment rightly will make the price increase, and you will gain. But all trading are risky.

Aside crypto investing, even trading crypto is better than forex to me imo, but let us hear other out.
8293  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can someone help a noob with an Electrum problem on: August 05, 2020, 08:25:47 PM
I attempted to send bitcoin from my Electrum account, but the coins in the Electrum account were cash.
This need more explanation. But if I get you right, you set the balance to display dollar, if so, you can press on the balance to display the fiat you set but only bitcoin is stored on electrum, electrum can only display bitcoin in fiats but if you press on the balance back, you will see your balance in bitcoin again.

The recipient is of course showing the transaction, but it's showing zero received.
If the transaction that has not been confirmed show on recipient wallet, it may not appear yet on the balance, there are many wallets that does not work like electrum that will display the transaction not yet confirmed, the recepient use wallet that only display the balance when the transaction is completely mined. Do not be confused.

Can I cancel the transaction? Is there anything I can do to get the coins back?
So far it is zero confirmation, you can still cancel the transaction, but you do not need this. I will like you to send the transaction id as pixie85 said so that we can track it for you. Maybe you use little amount of fee for the transaction, let us check this first and give you appropriate advice.
8294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto being way better when it comes to tracking - what we always said on: August 05, 2020, 08:05:45 PM
This is likely one of the reasons why Bitcoin wasn't banned so far, if criminals make mistakes, it's really easy to catch them. If you ban Bitcoin and other crypto, criminals will have more reasons to move to Monero.
Scam has been existing before cryptocurrencies  were created, in this modern time, people still mostly use fiats to scam, even if bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies  are banned, scammerw will still always make use of fiats to scam. There are many ways scammers o this successfully in a way they can even not be traceable. In some instances, bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies  are traceable than fiats.

Print three palper wallet with the beep together and haggle one; but I can no longer rescue the remaining two as if the private key was in error .... the funds or balances are there intact, anyone any tips?
Maybe you will see this btt link helpful.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=873121.0
Hi all,

When using the paper wallet via bitaddress.org, I advice you to check the public address first in blockchain.info.

Reason: I created a new paper wallet, then checked the pub address and there is 1 BTC on it! Strangely enough, the corresponding private key didn't match!! This means that you better always  double check the private key before sending funds to your paper wallet.

You can also possibly check the device used if it has malware.
8296  Other / Ivory Tower / What topics should be included on this board (Ivory Tower) on: August 05, 2020, 12:52:03 PM
I like this board, but I am confused if I am even posting the right topic that fit into this board or not, I have read some comments before that there are many topics that supposed not to be on this board but posted here. Some people may not even also be posting here because they do not know what ivory tower is all about.

I googled online and I saw Ivory tower of the past that is used because of different kind of reasons, it can be good or bad reasons. The good reason is to safe oneself from poor environment when people thought malaria is cause by poor air which was wrong. The bad reason was to isolate someone from the public. This makes me still confused to know what this board is all about.

I will like people, especially the high ranked members to tell us what this board (ivory tower) is all about? What topics should be here?
8297  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stock/Forex Trader and Cryptocurrency Trader on: August 05, 2020, 12:35:14 PM
Because I saw some trader that they started to trade forex/stocks and tried to trade cryptocurrency, but some of them are keep losing to trade in cryptocurrency.
Normally, trading itself is very risky, that is why we need to follow appropriate rules in order not to lose, some people are new to trading but believe in luck, not patient, have greeds and do not know anything about market at all,  such people lose. But, if properly learned, experience traders are gaining be it crypto, stock or forex.

Like if you owing in Forex/Stocks, you should also do the same with cryptocurrency?
They are similar but not the same, especially forex is very different from crypto trading, you will have to learn all differently. Because you know how to trade crypto does not mean you will get all about forex but you will have little idea. But I chose one because of concentration.

What are your thoughts?
I will advise new traders or those that want to learn to be patient very well, learn all about trading. Like me, I prefer cryptotrading but crypto market is very volatile but I still trade to gain. After learning, no matter what you know about any trading types, you will lose because of lack of experience, that is why it is good to use lowest amount you can use to trade to trade at the time. After many unsuccssful trades, you will have experience and not losing like before and resulting to gain, then, you can increase your trading capital.

exercise is a workout
slavery is where you get nothing in return of benefit or nothing of any valid equal worth of your effort
They get food as a reward. Just a joke you are very right about this.  Grin

I was only thinking work should stress the body, that is why recreational activities not stressing the body and despite being work, but you give me more insights into this as someone can also exercise oneself for good health reasons. Feeling cool in everything we do makes these recreational, but feeling it is work makes it stressful, that is why being at work makes us feel stresssed.
8299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on new ATH on: August 05, 2020, 09:07:52 AM
Will the economic fallout from covid create a perfect storm?
There was a time during the covid 19 pandemic in March 20120, the price of btc dropped abruptly from $10500 to as low as $3600. But, later, the price increase and  reached over $11000 with a very strong support. I do not see any storm coming this year again but for the price to increase, even if the increase is not abruptly.

Will more adoption be significant
In the world, how many people are having bitcoin now?
How many bitcoin ATMs are we having? This answer you question. People get to know and embrace or people yet to embrace bitcoin are so many, bitcoin will still increase in price and the increase will be significant.

What are peoples thoughts and expectations
My expectation is that bitcoin adoption will increase, this will increase bitcoin marketcap and also market price will increase proportionally. Bitcoin price will still get to new all time high. But that does not mean that bitcoin will not increase and decrease in price but the increase over long time will surpass the decrease.
8300  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INTRODUCTION TO CHART FOR NEWBIES on: August 05, 2020, 08:51:33 AM
This is great in studying the charts used in trading, be it crypto, forex or stock trading, the line, bar and Japanese candles still are the most important part to learning how to trade, but indicators has to be learnt also.

In addition to what the OP has posted, beginners learning how to trade should also know that trading is risky and lead to either gain or loss, it has to be done without greediness and with patience. Some new traders trade with low quality mind set with no discipline but believing in luck, that is why it is not surprising new traders often lose because they do not consider these criteria.

Lastly, like I said above, these analyzing part of trading is very important but indicators like RSI, Bollinger bands and both Relative and exponential moving average should not be left out as they are also very important to analyze crypto market.
