bitcoin is much more liquid, though. try buying an ounce of silver and sell it again on the same day and see what's left. We even pay 7% (or 9%?) sales tax on silver in germany. also: with bitcoin you can buy stuff ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I still have a bet settlement outstanding where a friend has to buy me a t-shirt using 1oz silver coin. Looking forward to that experience. Where is your friend? For 1oz of silver, he can have the shirt off of my back right now. It has to be new and bought in a shop in Hamburg. Additionally I have to happen to like that particular Shirt.

. . . Mike now goes on to reinvent representative democracy.
Please, for the love of God, can someone stop this guy before he redefines the very essence of reality and/ or space-time and we all become - well - the mind boggles.
:-)
yo jim, don't give him ideas!!

The havelockinvestments.com site is down. Two days after I put some bitcoins there... I hate this game. ![Angry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/angry.gif) Havelock is one of the nicest implementations of a trading interface. I trade there and have put a substantial portion of money there. I've also withdrawn 15% of that money again with no problem. Lightbox is running things extremely well. For some reason I trust these guys. I've not been scammed a lot, but in the case it happened the page was extremely crappy (bitdaytrade or whatever they were called). If that's any indication, havelock is not a scam and can be trusted. (Of course it's not an indication). Don't put more money than you can afford to lose into any investment.

Some of the same factors that drive the price of bitcoin also drive the price of silver, so never is possible.
then how is this possible: - bitcoin early 2012: $6, early 2013: $15: +150%
- silver early 2012: $28, early 2013: $30: +7%
There seems to be some other factors.

Confirm this. In chrome no prices, positions, orders. In IE it says something about bad certificate and after ignoring it all appears.
Same here, no data at all, no orders, no balances, nothing. Only thing filled is the price chart. Last data point from Jan 20th 5:00 EDIT: in both chromium and firefox.

NO! Please, 20K BTC dump NOW! To bring my life back... lol I bought a lot at 13.96 and sold at 14.60... :-( Would be happy to buy again @ 14.7X, no problem... ehhehe (facepalm)... I sold some on the way up, too. Just reset (forget about it) and make new decisions.

Then he wanted to sell it and made the auction and changed his mind again.
Twice. Well, the second time (couple days or so ago) he didn't make an auction and didn't say he'd sell. He just said it was too much for him and he was going to shut it down. He reverted that later. Or where you talking about a second auction? In that case I missed that. Oh, good point. I missed the bit about the auction (is it sad that I have reverted to skimming 15 word sentences?) - just read "sell it" and "changed his mind". Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Maybe I should go back to bolding most important parts of posts, so people can speed-read more easily. Especially useful for long posts.

Wie kann man denn jemanden auf intersango einladen (register=invite only)? I have an account... can't find how to invite people.

jesus f. christ! Turk just can't let go of the tangibility issue. He should read Trace Mayers opinion on that. He probably has but doesn't agree. He has a point about the long history of gold, but I think the transactional properties of bitcoin more than make up for that. Anyhow, it seems to have been a good idea to fill out that goldmoney bitcoin survey.

... I can assure you I now feel a lot safer than before. 80% of my coins are in my brain and I'm sleeping like a baby.
Of course it has drawbacks: the coins will be lost should I die or have a brain fuckup that makes me forget the passphrase or method or bitcoin. ...
Or, as has been discussed, someone does some 'enhanced interrogation' on your ass. If BTC values go ballistic I don't even consider the possibility to be wildly fringe. For my part, I specifically don't keep my offline storage in a mode which is accessible in this way for that reason, and it goes farther than just my BTC holdings. Call me paranoid I guess. As for trying to remember a pass phrase, I learned long ago...and much more cheaply than losing a wallet.dat...not to try that. It just does not work for me, but YMMV. You got a point about the interrogation. I'll probably diversify accross storage modes. So if anyone plans to torture me for the passphrase: best do it before bitcoin reaches $100.
