I would much rather we see the runup I have anticipated as a (more or less) repeat of 2012, to finally price in the halving.

But if we keep going at this rate, it won't happen... Not any time soon. Blow out too early and we have to wait.

That is what I am afraid will happen.

so the announcement this week was priced in long ago
but the halving which everyone was aware of since day 1 is not.

 i don't get it.

It means that we would be going into an (unsustainable) positive feedback.
I think it's more of a question why the halving wouldn't be already priced in.

I kinda believe it was ...

It is a matter of belief. The pullback at $266 destroyed your belief in a higher price in the shorter term, even if it did not destroy the belief in a higher price in the longer term. It was caused by a convergence of the short term expectation of price for the broader population of market participants. That happens where positive momentum meets the limit of a test of price. Lower momentum is supportive of a lower price expectation, as long as price does not outgrow momentum too fast a higher price is achievable. If price now outgrows momentum that is essentially flat on the longer term it won't peak as high, and it will probably fall lower then it would have if growth kept pace with the longer term momentum. We have seen this kind of hysteresis loop over and over again. It should be pretty clear by now what will happen. The reason the $266 peak went as high as it did was due to price keeping pace with momentum for as long as it did, this builds the belief in value. If price growth had managed to stay in check it would have grown much higher in my estimation, most likely on the order of $32^2. And I think it still can... That is, if we can avoid another blowout too soon.
So what's the deal with those addresses in your sig? For some btc you will stfu and/or dance like a monkey to tune of choice? Can you please clarify?

Lol, I hadn't noticed that.

Chodpaba, does your address really end in STFU?

I was hoping the NSA would notice and pay me a lot of coin to stop telling their secrets.

Is that how it works?

oops.  was looking at your sig on my Android and it word wrapped it to look like STFU was part of your address.

hmmm, maybe i ought to vanitygen that one.

Seriously, you spend 500 bitcoins and after month you realized that you dont have place and time to babysit them. Just buy hosting.

who said i spent that much?

being the very first one to go out on a limb and order BJ's, i was able to negotiate myself a preferred price.  with the pricing i'm offering i will make money by selling now which is a valid motivation for me to sell in and of itself.  i am not trying to "get out" to avoid a loss.

the good news for anyone buying from me is that i'm passing on some of this savings to them also if you do the calculations.  plus, they will be the first BJ's out the door which will give them a huge jump on everyone else.

hosting is actually a very good suggestion.  i may do that.
8287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will The Bitcoin Investment Trust affect the price? on: September 27, 2013, 11:15:00 PM
Everyone knows the Bitcoin halving will happen; therefore, it is priced in.

Everyone knows about the event, what they don't know is how that event affects the exchange rate.

Last December's halving has been long priced in.

It's the SM which has not.

This sale has nothing to do with HashFast. Seriously. And we haven't parted ways.

I still think they're going to be the winner in this whole asic race if they play their cards right.  And they are on schedule.

It's simply comes down to me being a solo miner who doesn't really want to host with someone else and would rather be my own admin.  Problem is I don't have free electricity. I have an office mate who objects to the noise. I don't have the space, electrical capacity, nor the ac capacity. And i think it's going to be more work than I anticipated.

This is a great opportunity to pick up the very first manufactured Babyjets at an undervalued price with the MPP.  It doesn't get any better than this.
8290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner REfusing refunds on: September 27, 2013, 09:15:33 PM
I got the impression BFL is hardly even trying; they don't seem to work weekends, they don't even seem to make full use of their assembly space/stations by running shifts 24/7 so are presumably only using 1/3 to 1/2 the number of people in assembly as the space could fit if put to full use.

-MarkM-

Where are you getting this from? BFL never promised to work holidays, weekends, or 24/7. And how the hell does one use 1/3 or 1/2 a man? I'm seriously! Have you been there? Well, I have, and they use every square inch of space they have and then some.

Running 24/7 shifts is an impossibility, even if the manpower were there or the suppliers delivered on time predicated on the chips they receive, for the simple fact that there's not enough room on the dock to place 1,200 boxes daily awaiting for the four different carriers to pick them up before the entire process would start all over again.

Trust me! When BFL rids their backlog by the end of the year, give or take, they'll be free to dedicate their entire resources to only one line--the Monarch. And since they have learned from all pass mistakes, they're be no problem when them getting all the units pre-sold into the hands of their customs no later then the end of February as promised projected.

OTOH, KnC promised that all refunds will be honored up to the time of the item being shipped and I will cry fowl, like a free-ranged chicken, if they renege on that promise.

You sir are thoughly brainwashed...................BFL has NOT learned anything, except how guillable customers are  Roll Eyes

Well, his spinning avatar indicates he only has half a brain to wash.  Grin

chodpaba

i've never seen you this active.  responding to every post.  you're usually much more circumspect and measured.

you must be short.
8292  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will The Bitcoin Investment Trust affect the price? on: September 27, 2013, 07:22:11 PM
i'll tell you this much.  i'd cover if i were short.

the weekend is here.  the Dow is down.  again.  and now we have this uber bullish announcement of SM.

it's likely the Wall St traders are going to be playing Bitcoin all weekend long.

and you know which way.

come on guys.

this is Order #1.

the first BJ's ever to be shipped.
8294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will The Bitcoin Investment Trust affect the price? on: September 27, 2013, 05:46:21 PM
Bubbling Up!
8295  Economy / Computer hardware / ► ► ►HashFast Sale: Batch 1, Order #1, 9 BJ's with MPP on: September 27, 2013, 04:47:12 PM
$5000 (by wire or bank deposit) or at the bid BTC per BabyJet.  Or best offer.

Example:  current Bitstamp price is $125.76 at the bid, therefore $5000/125.76=39.758 BTC.  Of course this will vary depending on when you place your order.

I am more bullish on HF than ever but do not have the capacity to house this many units plus the expected 36 more chips coming after 3 months.  Note that when I first ordered these, it was expected that my 4TH would come in 4 machines.  Now, due to redesign,  it's 10 and with the MPP, introduced after I bought, a potential 25 machines!   This was a generous thing for HF to do but I literally don't have the space or capacity to house this much.  Of course I was originally going to install the capacity but it's going to be too much for me now.  Hence this sale.  Also note that I am holding back 1 machine from my original order for my personal mining use.

For those who have the capacity and who specialize in this sort of thing, this is a great opportunity.

Expected delivery from HF late October.  Note that this is Order #1 and will be the first BJ's to be shipped out.

Shipping and taxes included.

PM me.

Wonder how long price movement will take, or when BIT will collect their first $2.5 million.  I could see 5-10 investors/wealthy action junkies scooping that up in a few weeks.  It's not much money to some.

This is good news for bitcoin. The only question, I suppose, is "how good of news".

Perhaps the smart money has already priced it in. It's not exactly like Bitcoinland has fantastic controls for trading on inside information.

i'm not sure why you keep insisting on this.

i'm sure that a few insiders bought on insider information but it's not like this announcement was publicly known.  in fact, it came out of left field just a couple of days ago.  this certainly didn't include the vast majority of millionaires out there who might want to buy some Bitcoin shares now and in the future.

In a market this size, it would only take a few.

that's my point.

it might have only taken a few to take the price up to where it is now.

can you imagine where we'll go when the thousands of other "few" start piling in?

You know full well what "priced in" means.

we've been pricing in the potential retracement to 90-70.

want proof?

ask yourself why did you sell.

or go short.

I asked for 2jupiter refunds and got the same answer with production bla bla bla...then i called them and told them i really need the money and they agreed.
So try calling them.
I have another 2 orders left, which i`m not sure what to do about... i`ll wait until the 1st of oct before i cancel

should've grabbed the other refunds when you had the chance.
