8301  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Incorrect balance on: October 29, 2020, 09:57:18 AM
I use 99% of the cases my ledger with Electrum exactly because it's better software.
Since the transaction as shown by any block explorer tells that only 0.03 + fee should be missing and the wallet should show 0.91846058 BTC you should be fine, meaning no money is actually missing.
So if your wallet doesn't show 0.91846058 BTC, get a better wallet. I also advise Electrum with Ledger, and the way to set your wallet is already presented. It may be a bit more complicated, but you can ask on this forum everything you are unsure of.

I would however remind some (important) rules:
* Get Electrum only from electrum.org no google or other stuff. Later updates will also need you go to same site and steps.
* After download verify signature https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download/
* After installing Electrum change its defaults from mBTC to BTC (and you can also enable display the amount in USD or EUR) to avoid confusion for amounts.

8302  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Calculate Tx Size and fees and plot it in the mempool - bitcoindata.science on: October 28, 2020, 03:59:50 PM
When I made this tool the mempool was very different,  so I will need to make a few changes.

The best way to see the fees now is to click in the top of the image (about 200 sat/vbyte now as time of writing)
Are you able to see the fees now by clicking?

Yes, the point was improvement, not bug fix. And it's just an idea, it's up to you if you see it worthy or not.
I am able to see a tx fee from block 1, ~248, but I cannot say it's the best fee or the last from block 1 (I can see one fee in block 1, one fee in block 2 and one fee in block 3 and in such small space you can't do much more).

What I meant was one more image, this time with fewer blocks (top 3?) but same height at the current image so more fee values can fit there like it is currently the 1-150 area. This would permit to see separately the top few blocks in a larger area hence a better "split" of the fees currently there.
8303  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Calculate Tx Size and fees and plot it in the mempool - bitcoindata.science on: October 28, 2020, 02:48:27 PM
I changed the input fields, and now 0 values are not accepted for neither input/output and sat per byte fields.

you can still try to cheat and leave it blank to bug the graphic, but I won't change it now because I don't see why someone would try to bug the visualization...

That's correct. It looks very good now.
And I also like the new feature with the tx id. I am impressed.

I went to your tool page today and (since mempool is so busy) the first 3 blocks are not displayed "good enough" - hard to see what fees are there.
I don't know if it can be fixed in the same "image", you may need one more only for the top few blocks so one can use the tool to estimate the fee based on current mempool or see clearer where the tx actually is.
8304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wrong fee estimation in bitcoinfees on: October 28, 2020, 02:45:11 PM
Although it's "work in progress" and could show a little better the first 3 blocks' delimitation even when the mempool is full, I'll add this to the list:
https://bitcoindata.science/bitcoin-fee-size-calculator.html

The ANN is here, in case fixes and improvements are needed (I'll just go now there and notify that the blocks are not displayed correctly).

8305  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: October 28, 2020, 11:41:58 AM
TRASTRA is definitely the move if you're within the EEA. They have the friendliest UI/UX than most and I have a Wirex, TenX, and Crypto.com card. Waiting for Asian expansion though!

From the link OP has posted I can see:

non-Euro purchase   3% of the transaction’s value
ATM Transaction with Foreign Exchange   3% +2.25 EUR
Monthly card management   1.25 EUR

This is worse than "old" Wirex, while even Wirex is updating now towards 0 monthly fee and no FX fees if one receives the new MasterCard.
Binance also claims to have no monthly or FX fees.
AdvCash has the 3%, but at least no monthly fee.

So from my knowledge TRASTRA is overly expensive. (If I'm wrong please correct me.) UI/UX is not everything.

Hi GOLD_official,

Yes, your PM did answer to my questions, all is cleared up, thank you.
I actually replied to that message in 26 October, also in PM  Wink
8307  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source unapplication - Vlad2Vlad on: October 27, 2020, 08:14:07 AM
Perhaps a different merit source can be selected for the altcoin boards who would prop up more than one shitcoin thread.

I somehow believe that he was made merit source also in order to help Romanian board with merits. And from what I know this doesn't happen.

And there was a thread this April tool (Merit abuse by a Legendary) where this same user was accused to abuse merit system and possibly even sell merits.
I guess that nothing has been solved although even a flag was proposed.

I don't know the exact situation, but I think that mods or even theymos may have to come in and make it straight; all the data is there, but it needs time to be checked.
At the end the other thread was taken over by Vlad2Vlad with a huge lot childish answers (of which at least many were deleted) and I fear that this may happen here too.
8308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hit 1500 earned merits so far. on: October 27, 2020, 07:54:30 AM
The registered date on March 28, 2018. Till today 1500 merits earned so far

Impressive. Congratulations!
By the quality of the posts and by the number of merits I thought you are older around here, so I'm even more impressed.
Congrats again! Keep up the good work!
8309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold on: October 27, 2020, 05:48:25 AM
I didn't know it "by the book", with proper name and such...

You don't have to know the exact gas limits of course

I think that you've got carried away or got the wrong quote. I was talking about "dollar-cost averaging", not gas limits.

However, thanks for explaining since ETH fees are quite a challenge for me. So only the quoting is wrong.
8310  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buying a used Ledger... Yay or Nay? on: October 26, 2020, 03:01:16 PM
Edit: I guess I should mention that I am not in the US. And there are no official Ledger sellers here...or unofficial ones for that matter. Ordering online - besides it costing a boat load more - is not a viable option due to the pandemic. So yeah, appricate input on the specific query being posed.

This can be a problem. If online ordering is not an option and no official resellers either, I'd look for another option = cold storage or even paper wallet, depending on how often you want to spend from those funds.

Just beware that cold storage has to be carefully made and has to never get online again after it's installed and paper wallets have to be created in a safe manner too. This means that if you go this path you have to understand/know what you're doing.
8311  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [PHISHING][SCAM] Fake Ledger E-Mails (24.10.2020) on: October 26, 2020, 01:49:26 PM
Is that right? Someone knows by now that one probably has a ledger wallet in his house? How can they make the statement that the funds are safe??? Sooner or later, someone will come in your house and will start cuttings some fingers. Sad

Not all Bitcoiners are rich. One can keep on Ledger 100$, 1000$ or millions; you don't know that. Or it may even be empty. And Ledger has quite a big number of customers.
Would they go after so many people to "cut some fingers" until they find the actually rich ones? Not feasible...
8312  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Even if you buy a hardware device from an authorised reseller, you need to check on: October 26, 2020, 12:38:27 PM
"commingled inventory."

Wow. I didn't think of this. If this indeed happens then it's indeed a very big problem at Amazon, not only with Ledger products...

One week is unexpectedly long time. I'd expect such theft happen at or right after the first confirmation.
Why? If the wallet has been loaded, then the thief/attacker knows that the customer is unsuspecting. Makes sense to wait a while to see if they deposit any more funds before stealing the initial deposit.

I was expecting the thieves have scripts attached to the wallets they are watching and as soon as funds are in, they get them without delay.
But maybe I just don't have thief material (no biggie) Cheesy
8313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Even if you buy a hardware device from an authorised reseller, you need to check on: October 26, 2020, 11:27:33 AM
only to find that the device had come with a default pin, and a prefilled 24 word mnemonic.

Such case should be returned and reported to Ledger imho (of course poor newbie didn't know, unfortunately). They should be aware about such cases and take the responsibility (!) if they are the Seller at Amazon.
Without such actions (and of course, writing them all over media) nothing would change. I think that Ledger has its part of responsibility in this.

The friend, unaware that this is not how it should be, moved some BTC onto one of the device’s addresses, only to see it vanish a week later.

One week is unexpectedly long time. I'd expect such theft happen at or right after the first confirmation.

Sad story. I think that this kind of devices should not be returnable. Period. (Although I the idea that an employee actually did this also makes plenty of sense and I have no solution for that.)
8314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Anyone use a wallet on a rooted phone with custom ROM? on: October 26, 2020, 11:03:55 AM
I did use for a short while a rooted phone, but I don't trust any of them. I actually don't trust non-rooted phones either, so I use Mycelium with Ledger Nano S (there's a small under-1$ adapter you can buy at AliExpress from normal USB to micro-USB or USB-C).
It depends, of course, of how much is the worth of the coins on the wallet, but I think that's a setup that worth considering.
8315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold on: October 26, 2020, 10:36:22 AM
To be honest, what you described is a well-known strategy called "dollar-cost averaging" DCA.

I didn't know it "by the book", with proper name and such. But I've found it described here on Bitcointalk and on tweets of crypto-related persons in many occasions. I found it a good rule so I tell it now and then to people asking.
Nice to know it's name and I'll also read the article later today  Wink
8316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why did I only make 0p? Noobie excited but let down by pure confusion on: October 25, 2020, 08:36:36 PM
I bought @ limit order on Kraken 0.0025btc @ £10,212.4.
~
I then sold @ limit  on Kraken 0.0025btc @ £10,229.0.

My math tells that the difference is around ((10229/10212.4)-1)*100 = 0.162%
According to the previous post the fees at Kraken are 0.16%-0.26%.
So you were lucky you didn't actually lose money.

You should clearly pay more attention to (all) the fees at exchanges.

Deci vezi ce gasesti in format electronic. Ar trebui sa fie si mai ieftin Il gasesti epub la Nemira cu 30 lei.

Thank you.

I couldnt reach anyong from bitcoin to help.

Bitcoin is not a company. So you most probably will not get help from anyone "from Bitcoin".
On the other hand you've got your coins from somewhere, so please tell us which website you talk about and where is your money locked. That one should have customer support.

Also the poll question tells about "bitcoin bch". BCH is not Bitcoin. BCH is an altcoin. One much cheaper than Bitcoin. There is one website confusing newbies and lying it's Bitcoin, but it's not.
You should also clarify this too.

Deadend web pages and no phone help.

Can you please tell us:
1. where is your money locked (what website/service)
2. where did you look for customer support info
3. do you talk about BTC or BCH? This would also help understand you talk about 270$ or actually 5.62$ (BCH is 48 times smaller than BTC).
4. did you try to transfer your coins to another address? was it BTC or BCH address?
8320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the best CPU mineable coin at present ? on: October 23, 2020, 12:05:16 PM
CPU mineable coin which is there out in the market now which can earn atleast or minimum 1 dollar per day

I don't think that such coin exist. I mean that for most coins, after you also pay for the electricity, if you are not on negative you are already lucky. At least that's what I know. Please research yourself.

I have got a laptop

Mining on laptop means you want to break it. Most laptops are not for such load. And since the pay is also low, it means you won't have ROI to buy another one.
