8341  Economy / Gambling / Re: Crypto Sportz - Smart Contract Betting Using Ethereum on: April 01, 2018, 02:11:04 AM
That's a fantastic question and obviously very valid from both a security standpoint as well as general credibility.

Here are a few things that we have done to date.
A) We are constantly keeping an eye on the latest exploits in smart contracts and are aware of all the current vulnerabilities. To say that we are safe from some new future hack would be a lie but then again that hack will most likely be used to exploit far bigger contracts than ours.
B) We have put the contract out in the open for all to see. It is located here as well as in the footer of our website https://github.com/cryptosportz/cryptosportz
C) We have invited people to come and play with / hack the contract. Not a lot of hacking was done but people did suggest certain improvements, relevant and otherwise. https://www.reddit.com/r/ethdev/comments/7ww0xb/any_sports_fans_interested_in_helping_test/

We are about a week away from launching a revamped version of the contract that includes additional game types such as survival and more, which we'll also open source and seek feedback from the community on. Hope this answers your questions. Please join us in our Telegram group if you have any other concerns or questions.

Thank you. But can I ask why your team decided to use Ethereum? What would the difference be if you chose the immutable version of Ethereum, Ethereum Classic? I reckon not too much.
8342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zero: A better ZCash fork on: April 01, 2018, 02:01:13 AM
@lakimens. After almost 3 years of being in the cryptospace and witnessing all kinds of coins come and go, I reckon Zero is one of those projects that will only be pumped then dumped by traders, and we will not see it become what the developers want it to become. A bitcoin killer it is not because it will never be as good.

It is not advertised as a bitcoin killer and it doesn't have to be. Bitcoin is not good by any means, it is just the first one.
All I am saying is that comparing it to the other ZCash forks and ZCash itself, this thing is a beast, the others don't even have a roadmap.
We still don't know what kinds of things will be tested on Mach Wave, maybe POS, maybe WormHoleX, maybe some other way to sustain a high load of transactions, I am saying there is potential.

Quoted your post and let us see where you are and Zero is in 3 years. I reckon bitcoin will be pushing on new all time highs while Zero will be another forgotten altcoin.

Also, I do not mean to step on the project you are shilling. But I speak from experience.
8343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: which altcoins are here to stay on: April 01, 2018, 01:37:53 AM
@poly13. A cryptocoin does not need a partnership to exist. What really happens is partnerships limit a coin's quality to become a medium of exchange. Also, a project with special interest groups behind it will be bound to that group.

In bitcoin, there are some people in the community who reckon that it has partnered with Blockstream, and therefore follows a roadmap the company wants, not the community.

Thank you for the indepth reply. Ok, it was nothing but FUD after all. Maybe I was too quick to judge the Monerotard hehehe. But these days, calling FUD without any explanation why has already become so annoying. It shows that some people treat a cryptocoin like their religion. That should stop, it is not healthy hehe.

In any case, I am happy that all issues are fixed. Thank you.

8346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: March 31, 2018, 02:16:43 AM
@SparkIt. Aeon is presently back in a situation of uncertainty and it could clearly go below 20k satoshis. It's also showing that the code rebase will not change anything, but let's see what the community decides on ASICs. It might be Aeon's chance to get out of Monero's shadow and get the market's attention.
8347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: XRPBust Is Looking For Bankroll Investors ! on: March 31, 2018, 01:49:07 AM
Stats can be faked to make it appear that the site is starting to obtain more traffic. There are Asian click farms for hire that site owners use to increase page hits. The same with Twitter followers, Facebook likes and Youtube subscriptions.

It's a common trick used in the cryptospace.

Nitrogen finally unlocked my account, and I was able to withdrawal my funds.
Going forward, I will be contacting support prior to changing my password!  Grin
Thanks for the support Cool

Then change the title of this thread to [RESOLVED]. You were also too quick to run to the forum and try to accuse them of trying to steal from you in public. Be watchful of your own actions next time and stop acting like a little child.
8349  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-03-31] Suicide Attempt At OKEx Offices After Bitcoin Liquidation on: March 31, 2018, 01:24:36 AM
The Chinese man's loss was supposed to be $1.8 million, with other news reports sensationalizing it by reporting that the loss was up to $10 million.

But is it really the exchange's fault that losses like these occur? The man in question did something irresponsible. I reckon he was trading with his life savings, using maximum margin while trying to time the bottom in a bear market hehehe.

The cryptocurrency exchange OKEx was accused by one of its customers that it allegedly liquidated his large Bitcoin earnings in an illegal manner. OKEx has establishments in Belize and Hong Kong and is one of Asia’s largest Bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchanges..

But OKEx managed to hit an unrealistic 4750 USD in their Quarterly futures trading. The aforementioned trader tried to commit suicide inside the OKEx building in Hong Kong by drinking poison because of this force liquidation.

Shortly after this, a video appeared on Twitter showing the trader while threatening suicide at the OKEx offices, claiming that he lost million in USD from the exchange’s malfunctioning. Not much after OKEx released a statement stating that this incident was triggered by several users who closed a large number of positions without taking into account that the prices will suffer a sharp drop.

8350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy the Dip - again... on: March 30, 2018, 02:11:55 AM
@cryptothief. Can you give us examples of who the established cryptochannels and advisers you follow? All I have seen of them are lost men and women looking for their own suitable position in life.
8351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Colored Coins' Startup Coinprism Is Shutting Down, Ethereum next? on: March 30, 2018, 01:58:47 AM
Are we witnessing the same fate for Ethereum? I see nothing wrong with ICOs as a democratic way of funding projects. But the regulators will not allow it to disrupt and threaten the existing funding models ruled by banks and VCs. The regulators will come, and they will come hard.

I reckon the fall of Ethereum might be any regulator's most prized trophy.

Stepping back, Coinprism is one of a number of companies that sought to focus on colored coins, or bitcoins bearing extra pieces of data that give them a greater degree of uniqueness by way of the protocol's scripting language.

Colored coins can serve as digitized stand-ins for real-world assets, for example, or represent things like loyalty points.

Yet as Charlon pointed out, work in this area has largely shifted to ethereum and other platforms. Many such tokens in circulation today are based on ethereum's ERC20 standard.

Charlon also said the long-term business model of Coinprism was problematic, given the growing regulatory scrutiny of the ecosystem and around crypto assets in particular that have been sold through initial coin offerings (ICOs).

8352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You Need to Do Before Choosing a Tipster on: March 30, 2018, 01:34:25 AM
@SyGambler. Good advice, thank you. Can you also give us a tip of who you reckon are the best tipsters to follow in the forum? There are so many of them, and it's so hard to choose because they are all winners like the traders in the speculation subforum hehehe.
8353  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-03-29]Five Cryptocurrency Exchanges in Japan Throw in the Towel on: March 30, 2018, 01:18:19 AM
Is that the new cause of the dump? I do not know why the whole market would take it as bad news. It should be taken as a positive because the cryprospace will now be rid of exchanges run by unqualified amateurs.
8354  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto market-cap dips below $300 billion as doom and gloom continues on: March 30, 2018, 01:09:01 AM
@richardsNY. You should be very careful in making such bold predictions. It is easier for bitcoin to go down to $4000 than to go up back to $20,000, I reckon.

Also, it is bewildering that if you ask the same people if it was still possible for bitcoin to reach $20,000 again this year, their answer would be a very easy yes hehehe. Maybe the denial is still strong in some of us.
8355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: March 29, 2018, 02:05:18 AM
About Haas. Force India and McClaren are demanding an investigation for their magical improvement this year. They are saying that Haas might have done something illegal and that it may have received more assistance from Ferrari.

I reckon Force India and McClaren already know that they will lose many races to Haas this year hehehe.

McLaren executive director, Zak Brown, added: "We all know they have a very close alliance with Ferrari. We need to make sure it's not too close.

"There could be some influence, there are certainly some parts of the car that look very similar."

Force India chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer hailed Haas's sensational improvements as "magic" and wants the matter discussed at the F1 Strategy Group.

He said: "I don't know how they do it, it's magic. It's never been done before in Formula One.

"I just don't know how it can be right that someone who's been in the sport for a couple of years with no resource could produce a car like this.

"Does it happen by magic? If it does, I want the wand!

"All the aerodynamic surfaces have to be your own. If they're not, I don't know how you can tell unless you start investigating.

8356  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-26]Bitcoin Transaction Fees Hit a Record Low Level on: March 29, 2018, 01:36:03 AM
The low fees might also indicate that no one was really using bitcoin for normal, everyday transactions.

2017 was a year the community was so high on mania and was in delusion that mainstream adoption had already come. Also, if you try to tell them it wasn't, they would be very quick to say FUD.

Well, where is the mainstream now? Happily holding their fiat after selling their coins last year, I reckon hehehe.
8357  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-28] Why Bitcoin's 'Death Cross' May Become a Bear Trap on: March 29, 2018, 01:23:39 AM
@Xavofat. The bear trap speculation is nothing more than an educated guess based on bitcoin's patterns. In any case, it appears that the author himself is in denial or that he is playing with us because he knows some of us are still in denial.

The article is not FUD, but its purpose may have been to convey more confusion.
8358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: March 29, 2018, 01:12:04 AM
@smooth. I am sure that you have already read this whitepaper on Monero's traceability.

https://arxiv.org/pdf/1704.04299/

I went to the Monero subreddit and what I saw was some Monerotards calling FUD quickly without properly thinking about how this seriously affects Cryptonote coins.

Can you give us your thoughts on the situation and how that affects Aeon? Would a simple sub addresses feature help?
8359  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto market-cap dips below $300 billion as doom and gloom continues on: March 29, 2018, 12:51:38 AM
I respect all your comments, and it appears that some of us still cannot accept the bearish sentiment that started on January. That is ok, we are human and we make mistakes. But what gives me unease is if we are stuck in a state of denial, then it may indicate that the market might still go down.

8360  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reasons why Lightning Network will fail on: March 28, 2018, 01:51:36 AM
Apart from half of the points you state are just untrue, do you know of any feasible solution?
Bigger blocks don't solve the problem. DAG structures don't solve the problem.

IMHO a proper decentralized secure base protocol with second layer scaling beats any other proposals we have now, they all decrease decentralization and/or security at the base level.

dash seems so solve eg master nodes can afford to brute force to with  hardware

But aren't master nodes open to sybil attacks? How do we know that Dash's master nodes are not controlled by Evan Duffield and his friends from the secret instamine? Because it is possible that they do control more than 50%.

I remember this issue was already raised before but with no convincing reply from the Dash development team.
