8341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should bitcoin be introduced into the educational sectors on: September 18, 2020, 03:39:32 PM
And the school must give it to a teacher who knows what exactly Bitcoin and the whole Blockchain technology is, because if they will just randomly make it a subject and ask a professor who doesn't have any backgrounds on cryptocurrency, I think it's pretty useless.

But if this will be teach in school, students will start ti decrease in my opinion since they are earning big already and they are not in school. Just like me (grins)

Yea.. I can definitely see that happening. A cryptography or an economics teacher introducing bitcoin as a sort of ponzi scheme experiment or probably just call it a straight-up scam lol. Expect to get a lot of similar opinions especially in the near to mid term future that having bitcoin in the educational sectors will probably just do damage and steer people off it. I don't think the phrases "any publicity is good publicity" fits that greatly in this case.
8342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another shower thought about tainted bitcoins on: September 18, 2020, 03:36:15 PM
How far fetched would then be to name any unknown Bitcoin address (unknown as in not linked to anyone's identity or fingerprints) dirty/suspect?

I really can't say, because I'm not a developer, but I don't think it would be too farfetched for bitcoin to reach such levels of anonymity that plausible deniability will be the default for even the people who don't do anything to improve their privacy. I'm guessing it's just probably a matter of when. But then again, I'm just guessing lol.
8343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest in blockchain? on: September 18, 2020, 03:07:26 PM
Blockchain is the process where you are storing the information or the commonly use is the transactions every time we made and by this block it will encrypt this and make a another blockchain to make it more secured.

Some of the people are using the blockchain not only in cryptocurrency also with the use into the world of businesses too

Examples
Storing of file system on schools
Storage of records and business
Payment transaction

You can also securely store these types of things on a secure and encrypted database though. You'd figure if there was really a huge advantage of using blockchain, that huge data companies like Facebook, Amazon, and Apple would already be using blockchain for their storage?
8344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another shower thought about tainted bitcoins on: September 18, 2020, 11:21:42 AM
Wait til mixing and coinjoining becomes the norm(hopefully someday, hopefully something built in on wallets that sort of happens automatically or something) that all circulating bitcoin becomes so called "tainted". By then, there will almost no be any tainted bitcoin and exchanges wouldn't be able to complain.
8345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest in blockchain? on: September 18, 2020, 08:14:04 AM
Or.. just screw all the "bLoCkChAiN" fluff, and just simply buy bitcoin off an exchange, or in rare cases, probably something like the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust for the older folks who don't even know how to use a computer.
8346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should bitcoin be introduced into the educational sectors on: September 18, 2020, 08:04:59 AM
I agree. Buying Bitcoin sounds easy, but going through the hoops from securing your private keys to actually finding a reliable platform isn't simply a walk in the park.

Definitely daunting for those old school generations.
Old school generations you say  Smiley
But I definitely agree on the fact that a lot of stress is involved in securing and procuring your private keys on the platform. But with the right words, things can be made easy for them.

Funnily enough, these security problems ain't only from the older folks. Even the younger internet-savvy people have been too comfortable with username:passwords accounts that there's a good chance that there's a good chance that even the younger folks will be leaving their funds in custodial exchanges; or something like saving their 12-24 word seed on a centralized server like on their email address or their phone's app.
8347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kiss' Gene Simmons chimes in on bitcoin? on: September 18, 2020, 07:04:13 AM
Not news worthy to say the least.

"I will. I am." Is this all there is to the news? There is no plan in there. There's simply nothing. Those are 4 hollow words.

Oh, well, there's already a pattern created with these crypto publications. They have the penchant to make a mountain out of a molehill. So we'll have to brace ourselves up for the rest of the celebrities' "I will", "I am", "I do", "I may", "I can" tweets.

It's really more of the Re-tweet, than the tweet itself. It's has some sort of implication(or at least what people on social media think) that he's going to do something to help adoption or something. Pretty hard to make conclusions due to the Tweet being extremely cryptic though.

8348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should bitcoin be introduced into the educational sectors on: September 18, 2020, 04:08:12 AM
To answer your topic question: It probably needs to be introduced on related subjects/courses like investing and finance and computer science in general.

But what needs to be more emphasized in schools in my opinion, is internet security in general. Not only does it help with the security of future bitcoiners, but also with internet users in general. As we move more and more to the digital space, internet security just becomes more and more important.
8349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big companies have started investing in bitcoin as a safe asset on: September 18, 2020, 03:04:00 AM
Yeah the problem with that lots of money to invest in bitcoin is the volatility because when the price of the bitcoin fell in the market, that kind of investment will also fail bigtime. no matter how you define it, it's always been the norm of the crypto market. the only difference is when those companies invest at the right time when the price is low. then the possibilities of gain is high since bitcoin never failed us when its price fell it always rise and give a major comeback base on its past history throughout these years.

The thing is, how do we know if the current price(which is approximately around the pricepoint where MicroStrategy bought bitcoin at) is high or low? Only time will tell if now is the so called "right price" to buy or not because obviously we can't predict future price movements especially in the short term.

Also take note that these wall street guys are investors, not short-mid term traders.
8350  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kiss' Gene Simmons chimes in on bitcoin? on: September 18, 2020, 02:36:02 AM
I've heard multiple times on social media that Gene Simmons is a total a-hole(though I really don't know because I never followed him as a "celebrity"), but whatever. Any publicity is good publicity.
8351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: coming CBDC help or hurt bitcoin? on: September 18, 2020, 02:33:48 AM
It's either help, or no impact in my opinion.

The news of China having a digital currency might just bring people more interest to bitcoin, and hopefully end up with most people realizing the importance and the advantages of having a digital trustless currency rather than a centralized one.

Voted for no impact because it's the safer bet.
8352  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken is launching a crypto bank! on: September 17, 2020, 05:31:01 PM
Except for the fact they can drop the price of the coins by half by selling the coins, they hold for their clients and then pay them half of the value in fiat.
The central bank can't control or stop me when I give you a 10$ dollar note, but it can make that 10$ worth 50 cents with a single move.

Ah, the price manipulation argument. Sure they can, and nothing is stopping them from doing that; and not only the government, pretty much anyone with enough money. Them buying up a huge amount of bitcoin(hence spiking up the price), and using the bitcoin to crash it back down is quite of a stretch though(but I'm definitely not saying it's impossible).
8353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OMG !!! Peter Schiff was right, again............. on: September 17, 2020, 05:25:49 PM
If the cash used to purchase was their surplus, then it would be a good hedge in my opinion. I won't believe anyone would be so stupid to disrupt their company's cash-flow for a 38,250 Bitcoin bet.

In the long term, I also think it would. But the short-mid term will still be pretty random(as per usual with bitcoin). I'm not seeing the negatives in their total balance sheet per se, but more of the possibility that bitcoin might crash in the short-mid term, that would cause a lot of their investors to lose confidence in their company and sell their shares.
8354  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Heptagontrade.com - anyone? on: September 17, 2020, 05:18:55 PM
"Site is brand new"
"Signal provider"
"too good to be true"

Yea you've pretty much just listed 3 red flags mate. I suggest spending your time trying out other legitimate ways of making money instead. Learn a new skill/trade or something. Services like their are simply either scams, or totally unprofitable.
8355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Number of Bitcoin ATMs Hit 9,680 in September on: September 17, 2020, 04:16:51 PM
How many of you have used these ATMs at least once in your life? I've never even seen them.

You're really going to barely see ATMs unless you're from the bigger countries like the United States; and especially if you're not in the sort of capital city of your country. I personally haven't seen a single one in my life either because I barely go to the main cities.
8356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Number of Bitcoin ATMs Hit 9,680 in September on: September 17, 2020, 02:43:23 PM
There has already been a lot of discussion on this topic, and despite the incredible growth in the number of crypto ATMs the fact is that almost 80% of all such devices are the USA. I have nothing against it, and the only logical explanation is that there is a demand for this type of service not only in the USA but also in Canada which together have about 8500 crypto ATMs.

Quite mind boggling to be honest. We'd think that when we talk about buying bitcoin that people would mostly default to Coinbase and the like, but a good number of people seem to actually use Bitcoin ATMs despite the enormous price premiums(I know, potentially due to privacy and all that, but still).
8357  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [MEGATHREAD] Pilipinas Coronavirus/COVID-19 Thread on: September 17, 2020, 01:35:04 PM
Ano balita sa mga lugar niyo? Ung nearby cities na katabi ng city na tinitirahan ko and ung probinsya na tinitirahan ko has been racking up on new COVID cases ulit in the past few days after having almost near-zero cases for weeks. Mejo naging komportable ata masyado mga tao samin na lumabas labas ulit; may mga barkada nga akong nakapag ilang inuman na sa mga bahay bahay.

(Please don't mention your specific city for personal privacy purposes)
8358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin society on: September 17, 2020, 01:26:47 PM
To some it's an agenda to make money (easy money),

Lol! What made you think that making bitcoin is easy? Have you ever tried? It's as difficult as fiat money. Bitcoin is not something you can earn from your laptop anymore!

I'm pretty sure OP meant that bitcoin is seen as "easy money" in an investment perspective by some people; which really isn't new due to the huge number of moonboys online.

Also, you definitely can earn bitcoin from your laptop:

1. I earn bitcoin through my signature campaign.
2. I earn bitcoin through accepting bitcoin on an online store.
3. I earn bitcoin through trading alts sometimes.

..which all 3 are done through my Dell XPS laptop. Earning bitcoin doesn't necessarily mean mining it. You can earn bitcoin like how you earn fiat, because bitcoin is money.
8359  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Does a smart wallet exist? on: September 17, 2020, 10:57:33 AM
With a bank account:
1. I get notified for each transaction that occurs.
2. I get a transaction history to review what goes in and out of my wallet.

I mean.. you don't even need a "smart wallet", you just need a typical mobile wallet. Most decent wallets have these features lol.

Here's a good one: https://bluewallet.io/

You can also set up a "watch only" wallet if you have a wallet on your desktop/laptop.
8360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OMG !!! Peter Schiff was right, again............. on: September 17, 2020, 10:52:06 AM
I'll admit: Michael Saylor took a huge ass risk that could either pay well, or be a disaster in the near to mid term future. I like how you intentionally left out Paul Tudor Jones in your insult though. Wink

Or he could become one of the richest investors in the world. His investment would be $3.825 billion with Bitcoin priced at 6 digits, $38.25 billion priced at 7 digits. Both are not impossible in my opinion.

Keyword: could

I never left out the potentially positive results, but knowing that MicroStrategy was just worth around 1.3B when he made the $425M bitcoin bet(which is like 1/3 of the company's mcap), is definitely a huge bet. It's not like a company just allocated 1% of their cash on bitcoin; on MicroStrategy's case, the $425M is a huge chunk of their company.
