8381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: So I pressed reset settings and now the blockchain is loading again... on: November 21, 2014, 08:43:40 PM
"reset settings"?

I doubt you are redownloading, check your bandwith useage. Its most likely doing a rescan of the existing data. A single core with 1 Ghz and a slow 5400 RPM HDD will need ~24 hours for that IIRC.
8382  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: jedes mal neue Adresse? on: November 21, 2014, 05:27:44 PM

See my thread. I ran into similar trouble a few days ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=865237.0
Maybe it helps.

this!

If you are only 14 weeks behind, skip the torrent just pick a node from list and -connect to it.

If you need help with that part tell us your OS (Win7, Win8, MacOS, Linux)
8384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [SOLVED] bitcoin-qt "No block source available" on: November 21, 2014, 05:16:07 PM
...

It worked! Thanks so much!
I got the bootstrap torrent, moved it into .bitcoin/ and it synced up. Then I restarted it and connected to the first node in your list and now it's syncing Smiley

Seems like my bitcoin-qt didn't want to sync older blocks... Still not sure why though.

Great.

Usually you have just bad luck with the first node. Its the only node you sync blocks with. If this connection is bad, the sync can take ages or even halt.

8386  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: jedes mal neue Adresse? on: November 21, 2014, 10:34:25 AM
Hallo zusammen,

-snip-
I will definitely try that for testing purposes.

The coins were just a few days in my wallet when trying. Does it matter if the coins are freshly mined?

The coins should be mature (>100 blocks after coinbase) AFAIK.

-snip-

There is a general rule as "1 bitcoin-day".
If your input is 1 btc, you will need to wait for ~1 day to have a high enough priority for a ordinary transaction (1 input + 2 outputs).
If you input is 0.1 btc, you will need ~10 days.

Thanks for the reminder of the actual numbers. In case anyone wonders about it, here [1] is a more in debt explanation.

Danke shorena!!!

Wallets by default should include a transaction fee, and for people that don't want to deal with this they must have an option to manually disable fees.

Bitcoin Core doesn't send anything without transaction fee, even if you set transaction fee to 0 they still require you to add minimum 0.0001 as fee.

Thats not true. Bitcoin Core is perfectly fine with sending your TX without a fee as long as the priority of the TX is high enough without fee.

I tried it for fun, and everything when I am trying to send coins without fee it tells me minimum required fee is 0.0001BTC

It won't let me send anything without that fee, even though I manually have set the fee to 0.

Take an input of >1 btc and wait 1-2 weeks after receiving it. Worked fine for me in the past, I think the input you spend is either to small or not old enough. Enable coin control to see more about the inputs before using them.
8392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Importing key into QWallet on: November 20, 2014, 10:37:40 AM
QWallet?

QT, sorry. QT Wallet, aka Bitcoin-QT.

Via console with [1] importprivkey 1lalala or access the console via bitcoin core, its in one of the menus. More about importing here [2]

8393  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: coinbase to electrum wallet on: November 20, 2014, 09:15:21 AM
thank you - the transfer took a little longer to show up than I expected - it took about 20 minutes

On average a transaction will take 10 minutes to get the first confirmation. But thats just an average, sometimes it takes longer for the miners to find a block.
8394  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain Two Factor Authentication reset declined on: November 20, 2014, 09:12:11 AM
Great news, the second support ticket worked and I now have access to my wallet again Smiley

(Will be a while before I'm confident enough to turn 2FA on again though.)

2FA is a good thing, just make sure you have a backup, e.g. of the QR code.

On the iPhone i think it's the 3rd option on the bottom.

Then you simply just scan the QR code of the private key with your camera and then it will add those coins into your wallet.

Which app you're talking about?

The important question here is: which app are you asking questions for. Its hard to help you if we dont know which of the 43950734095 [1] apps you are using.

[1] not an actual number of available choices.

Vielen lieben Dank shorena!!

Allerdings finde ich nichtmal den Ordner Bitcoin in/unter dem Ordner Roaming - weder unter dem Admin noch in meinem User-Konto;

such erstmal die Datei "bitcoin.conf"

Danke.

8399  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Zero Fee Gateways on: November 20, 2014, 08:15:56 AM
Why should the miners want that?
To support fee-free economy. To show that this is achievable.

Again, mining has costs. The hardware costs, the electricity, cooling, etc. Why would miners do this?

Spam would just get confirmed by other miners.
OK, just make it obligatory for the entire network to use the gateways. I am just trying to see whether that is something achievable from a technical perspective. Whether or not we should do that is another question.

Sure its achievable, but why? Why would you want to replace a trustless network (bitcoin) with a central authority (like paypal)?
8400  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Zero Fee Gateways on: November 20, 2014, 07:56:15 AM
Hi,

It may be so arranged that transactions are first signed by some trusted gateways, and then included to block by miners. Miners will choose their trusted gateways, and will not accept the transactions except for those signed by one of their trusted gateways. The gateways will act a spam filter, which enable transactions with zero fees.

How's that sound?

#1 spamfilter sounds like censoring transactions
#2 mining has costs, who would pay for those when there is no more blockreward?
#3 what problem are you trying to solve here? Spam would just get confirmed by other miners.
