Oh, this is seriously good!

But does Heavycoin have anonymity from the wallet?  Does it have new technology coming out about once a month with an awesome talented developer?

Heck, does ANY OTHER COIN have a cute REDHEADED lead developer?  LOL  These are important things, especially the red hair!!!
842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Summer is coming........ on: March 25, 2014, 05:12:54 PM
i havnt found a downside to darkcoin yet.

you can get mad hashrates with overclocking your gpu because it runs so cool! takes a higher overclock Wink

why would you mine scrypt when you can mine x11 and have all the benefits of scrypt but without the heat, noise and electricity bill.

darkcoin FTW

I need to learn to overclock!
843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Summer is coming........ on: March 25, 2014, 05:11:46 PM
In  July and August, there is no escaping heat, not even outside.  It doesn't cool off at night.

844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Summer is coming........ on: March 25, 2014, 04:50:38 PM
Some countries have such crap summers that you might be glad of the heat from your computer. However, I can see this being a good selling point in countries where you can fry eggs on car bonnets in the summer.

That describes us!  LOL, I just said "summer is coming to my daughter, and she groaned, LOL.  Our house has no insulation, best we can get is shade but often it's better to get outside shade in 110 degrees, yuck!  I hate summer!

Love that meme maker!

Please don't feed  nor quote the troll Smiley
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Summer is coming........ on: March 25, 2014, 04:30:09 PM
anyone willing to post screen shot of temps anything scrypt vs darkcoin showing temps?

Mining scrypt currency:

Mining DarkCoin:

What is more interesting is not the GPU temperature.. what really fell down were the VRM temperatures.. they went from 85-88C to about 54-55C.. This amazed me when I saw it first..

Pictures not showing up, and how 'bout a meme with that?   LOL  It's supposed to be a fun thread Cheesy
847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 25, 2014, 04:26:02 PM
How about starting seperating this huuuge thread into smaller?

1) How to mine, Pools, difficulty, DGW discussion etc
2) Logo and general marketing
3) News for Darkcoin
4) Exchanges and services that use darkcoin

This way it is easier for people to see the coin anyway and it helps even us to keep truck with what is going on...

There might be a transition to Reddit.com for that. I personally think gigantic threads are a kind of measure of real world interest. Each page is like a vote. Not fool proof but a positive sign. We should keep this thread going and organize the reddit page topically. Just my opinion.

Don't forget we have a wonderful forum all to ourselves, https://www.darkcointalk.org

It's the best place to keep informational threads, because it's so much easier to find the info you need.  We already have noob tutorials and some great discussions going on there, please join us!
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Summer is coming........ on: March 25, 2014, 03:53:42 PM
I love this coin and I lOve the fact that people won't be able to see how much money you have by checking your address on the blockchain I'm all in and I will support it as much as I can.. fantastic dev.. love it

Awesome, how 'bout a meme with that?  LOL
849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 25, 2014, 03:52:10 PM
Don't fee the troll.

---

So, Hiro is doing well because they are marketing the coin properly, but I think it helps DarkCoin by making X11 more popular.

Originally X11 was just planned as a different hash, Evan never thought that it would consume less and generate less heat (could be interesting to know if a nVidia GPU miner has the same characteristic), but this should be a very important selling point right now, to miners it matters a lot, specially with summer coming soon, I think a new thread called "Summer is coming..." could be awesome Smiley

I'll start a thread, can I use your picture?

Of course it's not mine, it's quite famous.  Cheesy Use the second one too.

Actually, could you please go post them?  Just to get replies that are friendly?  LOL

Ok, I stuck my head out and tried to make a fun meme-centric post to introduce Darkcoin to the community here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=530112.msg5893712#msg5893712

Please join in, post a meme and say something about Darkcoin that you would like to share.  I'm sure we'll get awful trolls, but please don't feed them, be polite and just answer their questions if you can do so nicely Smiley

Thanks, hopefully people will look and see Smiley

Summer is coming!

and and along with it, the heat of our machines will make it intolerable!  All that bright sunshine will bring out the beast in anyone!

Anyway, with the new season of Game of Thrones upon us, maybe we can start a fun meme thread. And while I'm at it, I'd like to introduce anyone who might be interested to our coin, Darkcoin.

Evan Duffield, our developer, has created a truly unique coin.  Starting off with the X-11 algorithm.  He didn't know it at the time, but it turns out that hashing X-11 runs 30-40 percent cooler than script, and almost 3X as fast (that's important to know when you look at difficulty as it isn't as bad as it seems)

So if the anonymity feature of Darksend from the wallet doesn't interest you....
If the very quick to respond Dark-Gravity-Wave (replacement for KGW) doesn't interest you....
If the ASIC resistance and fact that CPU mining is still viable despite having GPU miners as well doesn't interest you...
And finally, if having an amazing developer with a ton of things up his sleeve and open to ideas isn't of interest to you...

Maybe having your computers running 30 - 40% cooler will!?!?!?!?!

Come check us out, we'd love to have you over!

Lotterymining is under attack, apparently i pissed of someone that tried to cheat the pool, dont worry, the stratum is working as it should, its just the webpage having trouble loading

edit: seems like they figured out that it was no use.. pool website up again.. stratum has been running nicely during the attack

I'm always asleep during the excitement.... sigh

BTW, I often have trouble loading pages here at bitcointalk.  Is that my computer or the network, or bitcointalk being under a lot of load?  Just wondering?
854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 25, 2014, 03:04:26 PM
Hope so, cause if this doesn't get much better within the next 4 hours I'm taking my miners eleswhere Sad

3.5 coins so far http://explorer.darkcoin.io/address/Xk4VM6QAJfsjCR6XnYtngYwYruZMeExG7a
You should be mining ~20 DRK/day, try normal pool instead of p2p.

it does take 24 hours to ramp up, you're already almost there, so give it a bit more time.  I tried P2pool, and didn't know that, so I gave up, then had payments coming in for another 24 hours and wondered what the heck?  I'm not mining there anymore, LOL!

ah I finally got this

Good morning, did it work?

I think one of the more mainstream features that we can add at some point is to merge the cpu miners (or their optimized code) with the qt-wallet and automate the process of mining through p2pools.

This is an excellent idea, both in terms of fostering mainstream adoption and in protecting the coin by distributing the hashrate far & wide.

Heavycoin did this well, with the cpu miner integrated into the wallet: http://heavycoin.github.io/mining.html

Missed this, yes, really cool idea!  Only not everyone will want to mine.... it will take up cpu power, so it must be easy to turn off as well  Smiley

Hi all,

Why my wallet sync stop at block 34110 ?
I've tried to sync from start but no luck.
I use darkcoin v.0.9.0.0 on Windows 7 64bit.

am I lost here ?

People were having trouble syncing with the 32 bit wallet.... there was a blockchain posted somewhere... let me search  BRB

As I'm looking to see if there was a blockchain posted for download, I realized that maybe you hadn't removed everything from your darkcoin folder in AppData/roaming/darkcoin.  Make sure you backup your wallet.dat file, then delete everything EXCEPT you wallet.dat file, then sync from the beginning.  I hope that helps, I'll look a little more, but I really need to go to bed, sorry...

I'm sorry, no I couldn't find a downloadable blockchain.  I just remember someone saying there was one posted but they might have been mistaken.  I hope the above helps fix things for you.  I think you're on the wrong fork, and it should work for 64 bit.

Good nite everyone!

I'm sorry, but I can't even find the tip bot and have no idea how to work it/what it does???  I keep thinking I'll go figure it out, but I'm at a loss!  Please explain like I'm the little old senile lady that I am?

I did get the links in my signature, I'm proud of myself, but unfortunately, unless I go to other threads, I'm preaching to the choir. LOL, I'm trying to go to other threads to see if I like any subject that I can dig into, but bitcointalk is always unavailable.  I can't get pages to load, grrr!

Ok, I'll check it out tomorrow, I need to go to bed now, thank you Smiley

Update - why I say capitalism is awful:

http://www.walkingbutterfly.com/tag/africa/

That was a very interesting read, but I honestly don't understand why that is called capitalism?

"an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state."

in that very article, the King was the state.
Hitler was the state
Stalin, Kim Jong-un, etc... they are the state.

I will not side with corporations, they abuse the people through the use of the state, and I consider them hybrids.

I've always considered myself a capitalist, but my definition is much more in tune with your anarchy than what you claim capitalism is.

Anarchy: "a situation of confusion and wild behavior in which the people in a country, group, organization, etc., are not controlled by rules or laws"

True, these are traditional definitions that you may reject, but in the end, we seem to simply have a semantics problem.  If we can't get the semantics down, then we'll be butting heads for no good reason!  Huh

Capitalism always works best at the lowest level with enlightened self interest.

"a philosophy in ethics which states that persons who act to further the interests of others (or the interests of the group or groups to which they belong), ultimately serve their own self-interest"

Or people ultimately help themselves when they help others.

I'm a crypto fan and would love for it to work out and grow huge and develop new ideas that can help the world. Let's be honest for a second, almost everything crypto is shady, unprofessional and most of all has a huge barrier to entry on newbs because almost everything related is a scam. It's very hard to find real professional websites and networks that stay working, are stable and don't go down often. Crypto has brought out all of the worse IT idiots throughout the world and let them loose on projects here.

Granted lots of good things have come and there are some competent secure and stable sites but NOT much at all. Look at BTC $1,000 USD+ per coin now its dropped under $600 but damn that is some money! All I'm trying to say is crypto will NEVER come close to substituting fiat or pass it if we all as a community do not raise our standards and I mean really raise them I feel like its fucking 1999 again with all this unsecured shit and trojans floating at every stop. ALT coins that have malicious code in the wallets and software and are Premined the fact that these even exist here shows that our quality is not even remotely high one bit.

There are a few good trust worthy members here on this forum and not everything is explained as above but the majority is thats our problem. Stay positive keep the good news about crypto alive. The only way crypocurrency will have any importance in our future is letting the new generation have an easy entry because they will be the ones who will build crypto for the future. Easy entry is what crypto lacks but is most important.

I completely agree with this, but  on the other hand, this is kind of the wild west.  You have to watch out for yourself, survival of the fittest.  What I mean is, the reason why we live in a world where the government suffocates us with taxes, etc... is because we (as a people, not necessarily us) want to be protected to the point that every little thing that happens, someone owes us.  I slipped and fell, someone owes me, my kid bumps her head at the playground, someone owes us.  It's gotten ridiculous.

I suspect we're all here because it's like a breath of fresh air.  I've only been at this for a super short period of time, but it's given me hope for the world, honestly.  I'm old, but because of people like those of you debating here, I can see that the world still has some thinking beings and there might be hope counteracting the nanny state we live in for the future.  Lets hope it happens without violence!
