thanks for the idea of "faucet-running"; i am new and any task/activity helps me learn about this sytem!

No problem! If there are ever any questions/problems that arise I'm pretty much always available (bar sleeping or being away from the house, :p).

Approximately how much do you earn per hour?

This is highly dependent upon the luck factor (when it comes to the lotteries), as well as how often I hit them (which depends on what all I have going on at the time). It's also a bit hard to tell for certain because about 1/3 of the sites use their own "storage." So this is really difficult to tell for sure. I honestly try not to think about it and just take whatever comes in -- I see BTC as being like a pie, that is finite -- so having even a small chunk extra means a bigger portion of whatever it becomes in the future. Some people feel that BTC will be worth thousands later on; if it is, even a bitmill becomes worth a lot. If it isn't, I feel like I haven't wasted too much time anyways since I'm not really going out of my way.

In essence, what you take away from it really depends on how you feel. Much like I know people who wouldn't pick up a $100 bill from the ground because it's worthless to them, whereas others will even pick up pennies.

Thanks, I'm working on that now ^^

BTW, is my memory clock setting ok? It's pretty much maxed out.

I don't think that should be a problem. The only issues I've run into so far were due to core speed.
8403  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 7950 BTC vs. LTC hashrate on: June 16, 2013, 03:11:13 PM
Well this is fun, seems like Trixx decided to kick my GPU in the sack...I can't mine without my driver crashing. Current .bat:

cgminer --scrypt -o URL -u user -p pass --shaders 1792 --intensity 15 --worksize 256 -g 1 --thread-concurrency 21712 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1550

Intensity at 15 because it'll cry about invalid nonces every line.

If your drivers are crashing try lowering the GPU-Engine by a little. Try 1050, 1000, and then slower decrements (like 990, 980). I found that mine works at 980 but crashes with anything higher.

8405  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Thinking of selling.. on: June 16, 2013, 02:42:08 PM
So looks like no loophole for gifts..

Nope, it's stupid really. You pay $1500 for a device and it's essentially still owned by Google. Fail on Google's part.

(Keep in mind you can request to transfer it with Google's permission. But I would speak to someone at Google first before selling it.)

Good luck.

Wait a minute... you're telling me people paid full price for their BETA item? And to make matters worse they don't truly own it and are basically just "borrowing" from Google (due to the ToS, that's essentially what it is -- borrowing)?

If you want BTC during your downtime, hit up the BTC Faucet Rotator. It's not a "job," but it gives something to do when you're just sitting around or doing other things, Smiley.

Ok, thanks, I will check out.

No problem! If you have any questions feel free to ask, Smiley.

I doubt you can make a buck this way

It's not to take the place of a full-time job or anything. It only takes a couple minutes here and there to run through them so it's useful for downtime. I run through them while watching tv and stuff since I'm just sitting around anyways, :p.
8407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 7950 BTC vs. LTC hashrate on: June 16, 2013, 02:35:10 PM
firs of all set those things
comand prompt with administrator privilege
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

now for getting 600KH with cgminer and 1100 core and a 7950 on cgminer shortcut
--scrypt --thread-concurrency 24000 --lookup-gap 2 -w 256 -I 20 -g 1

this if you want to use your pc and mining at the same time, but only 525KH
--scrypt --gpu-threads 2 --worksize 256 --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13

Thanks for the info! this allowed me to increase my hashrate to what it should be.

Awesome information! What voltage is your card set at when doing this?

Atm, it seems to be 1093, according to Trixx.

Hmm... what's odd is I had an issue when I ran my video card stock. I would get low hash rates with SHA-256, and if I enabled the max alloc percent variable as 100, it would give a lot of artifacts and shut down the PC after a few seconds.

I also can't seem to get my core up above around 980 without the same thing happening when on Scrypt.

So I go to the newsvendor and get the paper, but then I can't get a coffee next door, because I'm on cooldown?

Sure you can if the payee supports sending the transaction to the balance management database. The database will respond with a confirmation (digitally signed) which will then revoke the cool off time. The cool off time is there only to make sure that the database is up to date even if the payee doesn't support sending the signed transaction to the database for confirmation...

What if my newsvendor is out in his shitty little kiosk in the street? Cause newsvendors usually are.

Think of this as an equivalent for a debit/credit card; you'll need internet access for instant confirmation. :/ But the HW wallet could be connected to the internet, for example, through your phone using Bluetooth.

It could also just be GSM (I think is the acronym for what phones use?) enabled. This would allow usage pretty much anywhere.

That's a valid possibility.. Usage offline is possible too (like with the TREZOR), of course, but then it's just like any other bitcoin transaction; the payee's not safe until the transaction is in the block chain.

Yeah, I'd be wary of any offline-only system just because you have no idea whether or not it's actually valid. Could be someone that is going from person to person claiming they have x amount, then "transferring" and you wouldn't know until later.

Hi,

I'm looking for some quick tasks for today, I can code in PHP, C++ and I know how to work with Photoshop. If you need something, just let me know.

Have a great day.

I have tried mining feathercoin, but I think the difficulty is a bit high now to get a substancial amount easily

You're not going to get rich off anything, unless you either have a LOT of cash to invest in the very beginning (ex. right after a coin is released) or you already have a nice farm set up to jump on them as soon as they pop up.

- Payment types: we will be open to most options.
- Yes we are in Orange County / LA.
- I will not give any ETA. We prefer to surprise the community once products are ready to ship.

good work mrb,
this is what we wanted to see in the beginning.

Well, I will transmit the thanks to my friends and partners who work on this project with me.

Looks great so far. I hope this is all done sooner rather than later, :p.
8413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC USB Bitcoin miner 300Mh/s on: June 16, 2013, 01:07:13 PM
These things need to be priced at less than $30 or .3 BTC today to be even remotely worth there hashing ability.

At today's diff. 1GH/s gets you about 0.025 BTC per day.
You would need 3 of these to get to 1GH/s

People have been buying these things on ebay for > $500.

In the recent round of group buys I purchased 28GH/s for around that same price, bringing the $/GH/s price range down to ~$17.86.

TerraHash is set to deploy a 4.5GH/s hosted board for 1.99 BTC and a 18 GH/s hosted board for 6.99 GH/s.

The prices for $/GH/s is dropping fast.

1 of the USB ASIC miners will as of today generate 0.0083 BTC per day.

At this rate, it will take about 241 days to mine 2 BTC at today's diff.

With diff. jumping 15-28% per week or so, these things will NEVER ROI...... EVER!!!

I'm wondering if some people are hoping to jump on them to mine SOME BTC, and then hope to sell the USB's later to put them in the profit.

Nice to see you're still climbing up! Slowly but surely, Smiley. The higher you go the faster it'll rise I think.
8415  Economy / Marketplace / Re: WTS 71 Gh/s Avalon Unit in hand - overnight shipping on: June 16, 2013, 12:55:57 PM

I already was saying when bfl failed to deliver the first time that  ebay will be offering asics at 10th of original retail price. Thats the time to buy not a penny more.
Wink Grin

Those who hold longest will probably get it the cheapest. But will it be worth it by then? <shrug>

This is hard to say because what people seem to fail to realize is that the more affordable they get, the more people will buy. Ex:

If they run $100 for 1 TH/s, I may buy 10

People will say "that's too expensive, wait until they are $10 per TH!"

Now they are $10 for 1 TH/s, so I buy 100

In essence, I am still getting the same amount of relative hashrate. It doesn't matter if I buy it now for a higher cost or later for a lower one. Either way, the more affordable they are the more EVERYONE is going to buy, and the more you have to buy to keep competitive.

And yes, that needs to be fixed. I confirmed that there's no trashbin on my side either. An alternative for the time being could be using the "upload update" or whatever it is. Not sure how it works though.

I think 'upload update' overwrites your original image, assuming you use the same name. This would allow some one to update charts etc with new data without relinking images in articles. It's possible you could rename your image that you upload too - but I haven't tied that yet. So if you are uploading test.jpg, you can specify folder location and final name of image, so test.jpg could become graph.jpg.

As long as it overwrites, it could be used as an alternative to remove improper images (just upload a blank one in its place). Of course it's better to allow direct deletion though.

Well if you post spam those 5 posts will be enough to identify you as a scammer. Simple as that.

lol, this is so true. Sadly I don't think spammers are banned though... It would be better if they would require that you make 5 posts, then it would ping the mods to review them and manually move people out of newbie status.
8420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [ANN] New BTC faucet in testing. Come try it out. on: June 16, 2013, 10:37:34 AM
Also, to add, OP... if you get everything squared away I may add it to the ]BTC Faucet Rotator. I'll keep up with your progress, Smiley.

That would be great.  I am currently donating out of pocket. eventually I hope to edge out ad revenue to fund the faucet rather than bleeding myself dry very slowly lol.

Sent the good folks over at the box an email already

Sounds good, Smiley. Always happy to help support faucets!
