8421  Other / Meta / Re: P&S moderator? on: May 13, 2021, 07:09:56 PM
If a new moderator was appointed to that section it would be nice if they were impartial or independent.  I'm not sure having a snowflake for a mod is the best thing for political discussions as it was quite obvious the section was being heavily moderated in favor of liberal views previously.  I never even cared about the politics section until I saw that TECSHARE was being unethically moderated and decided to stand up with him about it.  Anyway, no mod is better than a controversial mod in my opinion.  People are free to click the ignore button if they don't like someone's politics, but everyone's opinion should be allowed.
8422  Economy / Securities / Re: giveaway contest on: May 13, 2021, 07:01:02 PM
Something unclear with my seats for the auction... or i understand it wrong: 1.  I have one online Seat (looks like he is included in "lottery ticket distribution) Also i have totally  22 minted Seats. Are they the also included in the auction? Or do i have have to post/sign/confirm that this seats are also in my possesion, an have the right to be part at the lottery....? Of course i won't open them to sign a message... Wink

I think the below quote should answer your question.  Nothing is needed on your end but to own the seats and wait to see if you win.  Good luck!

All owners of NastyFans seats, both minted and online will be automatically entered into the drawing.
All coins won by Minted Seats will be auctioned off on this forum with funds being split only between Minted Seats.  This will allow minted seats to receive BTC from not only the initial purchase of the coins by NastyMining, but also from the sale of coins auctioned here.
8423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would it be foolish to take out a crypto loan at this stage of the bull market? on: May 13, 2021, 06:59:44 AM
It’s always foolish to take out a crypto loan. With such volatility and at this stage in the game you might as well be taking out a loan to make a big bet on a sporting event you have a gut feeling about. There are many more stories of failure than there are success stories when it comes to gambling on assets with leverage. Don’t do it.
8424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Musk and Tesla's BTC conspiracy on: May 13, 2021, 06:56:33 AM
The whole situation and circumstances scream manipulation to me. I’m not sure what he’s up to, but it’s safe to say he’s got a plan and will profit from it. That or maybe he just has a wacky idea and wants to pursue it. When Tesla did announce they were accepting BTC it felt underwhelming. Maybe he wants that announcement to make a bigger splash when he’s ready.
8425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: May 13, 2021, 06:54:10 AM
Kevin Love exploded for 30 points and 14 rebounds against the Celtics. Given his recent lack of effort on the court this felt more like a tryout for a job as opposed to just a regular season game. It’s great the Love still has so much left in the tank. I think he proved that tonight leading his team to victory over a much higher ranked opponent.
8426  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1oz .9999 Silver NastyMining Wallets (Colorized, Gold Highlighted) on: May 13, 2021, 03:37:20 AM
Shipped out a few sets of these this week. Would love to see pics and hear what you think of them when they’re received! The engraver is getting quite a workout these days with the increase in Bitcoin’s price. Thanks to everyone who has been placing orders. Your support is appreciated.
8427  Economy / Securities / Re: 📈 NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: May 13, 2021, 12:34:29 AM
I created an announcement thread in the collectibles section for this giveaway.  I figure that is where most of the buyers of the minted seats would see it as well as maybe bringing some new eyes on the project.  I want to thank everyone who voted 'yes' for this giveaway and it's great to have some new fun.  Good luck to all the seat owners!  I hope to hear about and see some of these coins once they're received by winners.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have below.  It is great to be able to do this giveaway as I hit my 10 year anniversary here at Bitcointalk.  If you appreciate this giveaway or want to take part, take a look at NastyFans here, NastyMining here, and feel free to purchase seats at https://nastyfans.org in order to take part in the giveaway.  Thanks!  Specific rules from the NastyFans poll on whether to approve the giveaway along with the Bitcointalk announcement are below:

On May 28 the lottery tickets will be distributed. The number of lottery tickets you receive is based on number of seats you have at time of ticket distribution (May 28). This allows new members to join in coming weeks and participate in the lottery.

On June 4 the lottery will occur. This is one week after ticket distribution. This allows members to see their ticket numbers before lottery occurs.

I will post again after lottery ticket distribution (May 28).

Quote
  • Every member receives a lottery ticket for each online seat owned at the time the lottery tickets are distributed.
  • Each lottery ticket is numbered. (1-28837)
  • Lottery ticket numbers 1-2822 are assigned to minted seats as a collective group. If these tickets win the minted seat coin is auctioned off by OgNasty and 100% of the proceeds are distributed equally to all minted seats. (The two 1000-seat platinum minted seat coins are excluded from this group and are handled as online seats.)
  • The lottery tickets for a member are visible when the member signs in.
  • A program is used to choose winning lottery tickets.
  • The program uses the tx section of Bitcoin block details to choose winning tickets. The same tickets are chosen if the same Bitcoin block is used. nonnakip tested the program and the results are well distributed. Here is example output using block 677358 (sorted to show distribution). The real lottery will not be sorted.
  • The program is available as source code for all to see.
  • After lottery tickets are distributed a future Bitcoin block number is specified that is used for the lottery.
  • The first 100 ticket numbers chosen by the program are winners unless a ticket number appears more than once. Then extra ticket numbers are chosen. A lottery ticket can only win one minted seat coin.
  • The first 75 winners receive 1oz minted seat coins. The next 20 winners receive 2oz minted seat coins. The final 5 winners receive 5oz minted seat coins.
  • A winning member must provide a postal address to send the minted seat coin(s). If a postal address is not provided within 30 days of winning the minted seat coin(s) are auctioned off by OgNasty and 100% of the proceeds are donated to nastyfans.

8429  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ Maybe? on: May 12, 2021, 11:36:12 PM
Elon reverses stance on Tesla accepting Bitcoin citing energy concerns.  Say it ain't so!  While he does leave the door open to accepting Bitcoin in the future, this doesn't seem like a good thing in the short term for the market and more specifically, this thread.  I intend to purchase a Cybertruck regardless of the payment method involved, but we'll have to stay tuned to see how this turns out as far as the Bitcoin aspect.

8430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Kentucky Derby Winner fails drug test on: May 12, 2021, 07:12:59 PM
What a nightmare. Surely there’s precedent for this sort of thing though. I occasionally hear about fighters being disqualified for positive tests after the event. I never really thought about how gambling houses handle issues like this though considering they can’t take back paid rewards.
8431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: May 12, 2021, 10:52:45 AM
A good win for the lakers much needed they really found a gem, tucker played well, especially that three-pointer that gives them the lead, got scared with Davis walking slowly, I hope he is alright and well, Drummond also have a good game, can't wait for LeBron to complete the team, good to hear Wesley is back, hope they will stay healthy.

Drummond getting 18 rebounds was nice. I think that’s the first time he’s dominated the boards since the trade to the Lakers. That’s what I’ve been waiting to see. When LeBron comes back they’re going to have a massive front line. I’m already hoping they can get CP3 and Derozan on the team next year with some magic…
8432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 12, 2021, 07:05:29 AM
4/5 Steph Curry saved me again. (I forgot I input a spread.)  Grin
(...snip...)
Despite the bad shooting percentage at 3 point line for 3 quarters they came back at the 4th with full of energy. Never giving up and just stay close with the Suns using 2 point game strategy. 11/40 3-pt FG for the whole team and Steph Curry 1/11. 2 consecutive games now for Steph with bad percentage on distance shooting. He may be exhausted but now he could rest for 2 days before they meet the Pelicans.
Player of the game is Andrew Wiggins who contributed a lot being active below the rim with offensive rebounds. I could say this is one of his best games of the season. 17/23 FG.  Shocked
Cheers!

38 points to go along with 7 rebounds, a steal, and 3 assists.  Not to mention only 1 turnover.  The dude was on fire.  My poor Suns are getting torched all the sudden.  First Anthony Davis and now this.  That doesn't spell too well for their playoff picture unless they're trying to tank for a different seed.  I may need to take a look at the standings and see if that's a possible explanation, or maybe they're trying to stay healthy for the post season.  I hope there's a reason anyway, because if they're playing like this in the playoffs they won't see the second round.
8433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 11, 2021, 07:13:34 AM
The pelicans vs grizzlies matchup tonight presents some interesting gambling aspects. With the pelicans trying to tank for a higher draft spot and the grizzlies set for the play in tournament, you have to suspect the grizzlies might be resting a bit for the play in tourney expecting the pelicans to not bring their best. The huge spread might come into play here. With the pelicans not trying to win though I’m not sure if they can even stay within 9 of a semi-resting grizzlies team. Thoughts?

Looks like the Pelicans came through and lost the game to keep the tank alive but covered the spread to keep their betting fans happy. Sort of what I thought might happen but I didn’t have any money on the line. I feel like late season NBA gambling is more about knowing the politics than picking the better team…

Don’t.
8435  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: blockfi sending eth there for interest gains? on: May 10, 2021, 11:46:46 PM
I’ve got ETH staked at Coinbase earning 6%. It feels as safe as can be for me, but I don’t hold a large % of my crypto portfolio in ETH so it doesn’t bother me much having it on an exchange. Plus, it had to be locked into ETH2 with no way to trade it, so not even I could steal it from myself until they unlock ETH2 for trading. That along with Coinbase being flush with cash from their recent IPO makes me think there is no safer place my ETH could be right now.
8436  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Will crypto debit cards work even in restricted country? on: May 10, 2021, 11:41:38 PM
Rather than using a debit card to spend crypto (there are several out there), I’m more interested in the coming Coinbase card that will offer you free crypto back as spending rewards. I might have to get that puppy and set up all my bills to hit it. Don’t spend your crypto, earn more of it!
8437  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I need to site to filter Volume and Price on: May 10, 2021, 11:36:35 PM
Looking to get in early on the pumps huh? Be careful and keep in mind the potential tax nightmare of jumping from coin to coin. Especially if you’re doing so on exchanges where you’ve provided KYC. They will most likely report your activity and leave you with a lot of line items to report.
8438  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to create a bitcoin mixer on: May 10, 2021, 11:34:45 PM
Check what mocacinno wrote. Some real gems there.

I'd just like to reinforce the difficulty of actually setting something like this up. You'll need a significant amount of capital to start, advertise, and maintain your service. You'd also have to deal with the regulatory side of things which will likely be very muddy waters.

Even the most established mixers like Bitmixer have shut down before, and they probably had million dollar revenue generating businesses. Chipmixer has been victim to multiple attacks on their websites too. Handling these things will be a nightmare if you're not fully prepared.

This. I would think creating the mixer is the easy part. Jumping through regulatory hurdles and keeping the site online would most likely be the major challenges you would face and depending on where you are located, may be impossible to overcome. Good luck!
8439  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SIMPLEX.com is a fraud company. You have been warned. on: May 10, 2021, 11:33:03 PM
Isn’t this the company that just announced a major deal with SAFEMOON to help get user funds from fiat into SAFEMOON with less middlemen? Seeing such old scam complaints is definitely not a good sign for that arrangement. I hope everyone is able to get what they purchase.
8440  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mixers under the threat? on: May 10, 2021, 11:31:21 PM
I’m amazed mixers are still operating after all this time. It seems like they have got to be high on the list of regulators looking to shut down sketchy operations. I assume those remaining are probably operating out of interesting locations or doing their best to remain anonymous. I think it would be pretty safe to assume that regulators will be trying everything they can to arrest operators of high volume mixers as well as attempt to unmask their user base.
