@smooth. But to date, it has been going ok in bitcoin. Some would also argue that it's the big Chinese mining farms carrying its market cap to new highs after every halving because it is in their self interest to do so.

I reckon Siacoin is embracing Asics and so does Decred. Why is this? What do they see that the rest do not?

@BitcoinSupremo. ?

I thought that they are again having problems with their car again, and according to Eric Boullier, they risked having those reliability problems again because their design this year is more ambitious and more aggressive.

They were one of the teams that had low mileage in preseason testing.
8423  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-10] Venezuelan President Claims Petro Pre-Sale Raked in $5 Billion on: March 13, 2018, 01:27:41 AM
@vit05. Anything the government does, it always does so for its own benefit at the expense of the people they swore to serve. If history taught us something, it is the fact that all governments are run by the few, supported by the elite, to oppress the rest of the population.

The Petro might fail, but it will serve its purpose.

Has Smooth said anything about the Cryptonight Asic that appears to be coming out?  Monero is planning to fork in order to fight the asics coming out --- will Aeon be doing the same?

Dude, it's in the post immediately preceding yours...

For argument's sake, isn't it good for Aeon's security and the price to have ASIC miners around? I know that it will centralize mining and the creation of mining hardware behind it, but would that not be a necessary sacrifice to have our investments grow?
8425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTCP Bitcoin Private is the real Bitcoin on: March 13, 2018, 12:55:25 AM
@Lontonbit. If privacy is what should define bitcoin, then what about Aeon? It's also anonymous, private and fungible. Does that mean Aeon is also the bitcoin? Wink

Your argument might be from a person who desperately needs to get his investment back because maybe he bought Zclassic at the top hehehe.
You need to do some research before you make stupid comparisons, maybe your a bch holder scared of the new COCK in the barn? Oh ooooo hahaha

Now why would I be scared of another shitcoin released in the market from a scammer who loves forking coins for his own benefit.

The same with the rest of his projects, all of his followers will get his banana right in their backsides. But be sure to bring the lube out. Oh oooo hahaha.
8426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: March 13, 2018, 12:33:17 AM
Chart update. We are down. Some cheeky bastard thought it might be a good idea to dump his coins on us in a time when Aeon needs the support most.

I am happy that my bids were all taken, but I am not so happy of where the market might take us next. I expect it to move below 20k satoshis.

Lies. If their presale really reached more than a billion then it should have moved NEM in the top 5 in Coinmarketcap.

Also as the article mentioned, the Petro is violating US sanctions. I am interested in what the NEM development team might do if the platform is threatened by the full might of the US government hehehe.
8429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: March 11, 2018, 01:15:08 AM
To anyone who has not bought in yet, buy now or regret missing this opportunity.

AEON under $3 again. Seems great time for all that did not filled their bags in past.  We will most likely see it over $10 this year.

That's what I have been telling everyone, but sadly it does not look like they're listening hehehe.

But who can really blame them? The market today is in for ICOs and faster moving coins to make quick profits. Aeon's development is also so slow making it look like it's dead.
8430  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-08]SEC Says Cryptocurrency Exchanges Must Register With Agency on: March 11, 2018, 01:00:33 AM
poloniex and bittrex are registered in the USA. will it be that with these measures we will have better treatments on the part of these two exchanges in the future? for example, will these exchange with government intervention fear us treating us poorly as not responding to support tickets and ignoring us for months and years? will it be that with this we can go to complain in SEC if any of these exchange does not respond to our support tickets and does not solve our problems? I'm sorry I'm not a US citizen so I do not know what the exact role of the SEC and what powers of intervention the SEC has in relation to the exchange

Before worrying about support tickets, start worrying about the ICOs and other cryptocoins that have the possibility to be branded as securities. The SEC may order a US based exchange to delist them or else be shutdown.

I also worry more for Bittrex than Poloniex. Poloniex was bought by Circle and is now in talks with the SEC about how to move forward in a regulated environment.

Bittrex, meanwhile, has released no statement after the SEC's announcement that US based exchanges should register with the government regulator.

The MTGox trustee should know by now that he is the most hated man on Bitcoin. If no one has told him already, he must have seen some news.

If he doesn't stop, he is going to end up dead. I don't think Bitcoin $billionaires are enjoying this shitshow. So I think from now on he is going to go OTC as he should have done, unless Nobuaki Kobayashi wants to keep gambling with his life for god knows what reason.

I predict that the next week we will see some kind of official statements of sales going OTC. The market must take around 48 hours to digest these news and a bottom will be called. Buy the dip as usual.

You are getting a bit worked up about something that happened all the way back in December and January, arn't you?

He didn't crash the market, he didn't sell enough coins...

Man are you blind? the biggest selloff happened on the $6000 dip day, this means around mid febraury, less than a month ago. He obviously crashed the momentum. These big red candles are his sales, it's pretty obvious look at the graph and at the date of the sales, I don't know what other proof you need.

He is either an idiot that doesn't understand what OTC is, or he was hired to purposely crash the market, pick one.

I agree. Also include FUD, some trading bots going bonkers over the selldown and the panic sellers in the mix, then we have a crash happening in front of us.

All of that thanks to one man who literally triggered the beginning of the crash and stopped the party.

100% agree. This dude has been dumping since December as per reported that's why we get the clear picture right now. This bearish trend now identified who is the culprit and yeah, he is considered to be the hated man right now. He could have done OTC or work with Gemini or other trusted exchanges on how to liquidate this huge amount.

I guess this lawyer trustee doesn't know a single thing how this market operate and such action by him will cause a significant dent on the market. Or maybe he knows, but he doesn't give a f**k.

I really don't know what his intention if its done with good faith or not. But he better stop his this shit and I don't know if Japanese regulators can step in and put a temporary halt on the bitcoin slide.

I am sure they can investigate if they wanted to. The trustee's actions might have malicious intent, and it clearly is affecting the whole cryptospace very badly.

But I also reckon that this is a concerted action, the government included, to keep the price down. Whatever the motive is, we know that it invloves profit, nothing else.
8433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: XRPBust Is Looking For Bankroll Investors ! on: March 10, 2018, 01:21:17 AM
@XRPBust. If you really are going to target the imaginary millions of people using XRP, why are you in a bitcoin gambling subforum asking for an investment?

Go to a Ripple forum. No one likes using a centralized token issued by a for profit company that is trying to act like a central bank around here.
I posted this here because there are alot of traders and investors here. The more places to post it the better Smiley , Im probably not going to be able to reach the millions of people who use XRP but at least a good portion of them as the community is huge.

Everyone knows that there are no millions of users in Ripple. Do not lie. Also, what do you propose, that we convert our bitcoins to XRP, then invest in your site and get paid in XRP? But most of us want to hold only bitcoin, not some centralized token.

Why don't you go to the millions of Ripple users to fund your site? I am sure millions of them would love to find something to do with their idle coins hehehe.
8434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: March 10, 2018, 01:13:57 AM
But last year's testing showed the same results. We thought last year was going to be Sebastian's first driver's championship with Ferrari when the 2017 season began right? I reckon it will still be the same this year.

Ferrari is like an ICO for the last 5 or more years. All hype, followed by a pump then crashing back to the ground in the end hehehe.

This was poorly handled by the trustee and the people around him. The best way to convert that much coins is to do either an action or an OTC private sale.

Doesn't the trustee know his actions are negatively affecting everyone in the whole cryptospace? I reckon he's either very stupid or has malicious motives.
8436  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-03-10] Vitalik Reveals New Idea for Plasma Scaling On Ethereum on: March 10, 2018, 12:29:41 AM
Can someone who is technically knowlegeable about Ethereum make a comment about Plasma? I reckon some of the ideas that come out of Vitalik might really be scams to keep its followers interested. He's been making promises about scaling and anonymity in the platform that might not even be acheived.

It is also funny that the Cryptokitties might be the only project made in Ethereum that is not a scam.

More about Plasma in their whitepaper.

https://plasma.io/

But while the current iteration of the prototype requires all users to download and validate each smart contract in the Plasma system, in his new talk, Buterin described a way to limit this to a handful of data points.

"The main benefit here is that basically the amount of data that clients need to process goes down by a lot," Buterin explained.

Rather than having to download the entire Plasma history, users would be able to instead generate "Plasma coins" by sending a deposit to the contract. As such, instead of downloading and verifying everything, users could simply track the tokens they have created within that system.

"Now users only have to verify the availability and correctness of the Plasma chain only at the specific index that they want to spend, or the specific index of any coins that they own and coins that they care about," Buterin said.

8437  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-08]SEC Says Cryptocurrency Exchanges Must Register With Agency on: March 09, 2018, 01:52:59 AM
That would that mean for us? Would that mean the SEC would also have the power to decide which coins or tokens to list in a SEC registered exchange?

I reckon that the government's agenda of over-regulating the cryptospace might discourage the people from investing, and that could result in slower adoption or none at all.

This is already happening.  Exchanges can not let users trade crypto securities, otherwise they will face issues from the SEC.

Example
Bittrex actually unlisted trading of the BitShares token because their lawyers fear it is a security.  The BitShares foundation has now hired a well known legal counsel for two important documents, a professional legal opinion that it is not a security and also for them to reach out the SEC for a "non action letter."  These just may become the documents required for exchanges to list a coin going forward.  This is probably a good thing, to weed out the nonsense blockchains!
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@bitshares.fdn/report-spokesperson-bitshares-blockchain-foundation-on-bittrex-inc-and-other-regulatory-issues

On the other hand this paves way for decentralized exchanges with gateways supporting the in/out markets.  2018 is shaping up to twist around the current environment.

I reckon there are other nonsense blockchains listed in Bittrex to be worried about more than Bitshares. At least Dan Larimer and his development team were experimenting on new consensus algorithms by coming up with something called Delegated Proof of Stake.

The projects of today are not even trying to innovate anymore.

@smooth, @stoffu. Things have been too quiet around here. How long will it take for the code rebase to finally be implemented? I estimated at the end of March, but it looks like it's not.

Also what of the blockchain? Will there be a converter to turn it into an LMDB file? I would not want to download it all over again, if absolutely possible.

Thank you.
8439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: March 09, 2018, 01:22:39 AM
@cicciobtc. This might happen the same as last year. The media hyped Ferrari to the heavens last year by saying that 2017 could be the year for Sebastian.

It was only hype to keep us watching and it turned out to be really that after the race in Baku.

I am more excited about McClaren's development and Toro Rosso. One team got rid of the Honda engines, while the other implemented it. Let's see how they both do on the grid.
